I am here to tell you this place has the BEST fried fish I have EVER had. Not only that, the fish is so good I didn't want to ruin it by using tartar sauce or malt vinegar. I'm not kidding. This is southern cooking at its finest. The staff is super friendly and there is a lot of seating--booths on one side and tables on the other. Everything is fried fresh to order, from the pork rinds that you can even choose the seasoning to the juiciest chicken breast you've ever had, and the delightfully seasoned cat fish down to the mouthwatering fried pickles slices. I placed a delivery order through Uber Eats. Jim Pa's f@cked it all up! I ordered the 3 Pc. Catfish Fillet Meal with 3 Jumbo Fantail Shrimp * Fried Okra * Mac N' Cheese. I didn't get any Shrimp! They gave me French Fries instead of Fried Okra! And, they gave me String Beans instead of Mac N' Cheese! I also ordered a 4 Pc. Visited this place for the first time on a Sunday late afternoon and glad we did. When we entered we were greeted by someone behind the register. They have a menu board over the register and we mentioned it was our first time, and she suggested that it might be easier to take a printed menu, have a seat, take our time looking, then come back up to order when we were ready. Jim Pa's is closed on Mondays. They offer dine-in, take-out, pick-up, and catering. They serve, catfish, seafood and chicken. Bruch is offered till 3 on Saturday and Sunday. Everything is made in-house from vegetables to dressings, except the desserts. We ordered whole catfish and catfish fillet meals each with 2 sides. Pork Rinds; comes in 4 different flavors, fried fresh and they were delicious, you could hear them crackling while eating them. Fried Pickles: battered and fried crispy. mmmmm White Beans: plenty of flavor with pieces of pork. Cole Slaw: another made from scratch side, with just the right kick of tang for slaw. Fresh Hushpuppies: comes with the meal, these puppies were just the right size, not too tiny and not too big and are made to order. Crispy on the outside, perfectly fluffy on the inside. Food is made to order and it's worth a tiny wait. Everyone was pleasant and even though you order first and then sit down, we were checked on numerous times by staff to see if we needed anything. The catfish was perfectly cooked and golden brown. The coleslaw, steak fries and hushpuppies are a must have, but the prices have increased a lot over the years. Years ago, I was an avid fan of Uncle Bud's, the predecessor of Jimpa's. Unfortunately, there is no resemblance to the former's great catfish. I was pleased to find they offered pork rinds as a side. Until I almost broke my teeth trying to bite through the severely over doneness. Very disappointing, since they were obviously cooked fresh. The catfish..... I ordered the two filet piece filet. The breading was thicker than the fish!! It was also overcooked, and excessively greasy. The hush puppies. When Uncle Bud's was around, they had the only hush puppies I have ever liked. So I was especially looking forward to them once I found the rest of the meal so distasteful. They were so greasy, it was nauseating. I was able to peel off the outer crust and enjoy the inside though, for what it's worth. Desert - they called it cobbler, but it was definitely not. More like pie that had been broken into pieces. I love this place! Well it's my first time in the actual restaurant. I've always caught the Jim Pa's food truck on Powers Ferry back in the day on a Sunday. I normally don't eat catfish but this catfish is delicious. It's golden brown and not too spicy. Now since this is my first dining experience, let me say it's a small spot but it's decent and what I expected. There was music playing while I waited . The cashier told me the wait would be 25 minutes. There were about 4 people waiting before me when I arrived . The only thing that's somewhat of an inconvenience is they only accept cash. Make sure you're prepared for that when you arrived . There is a Credit Union next door. There isn't much more to say, I've only tried the catfish dinner but they have chicken , fries , pork , cobbler and even ice cream . Their known for their yummy catfish . They really need someone else at their front window! We've order regularly from here and there was a very nice young lady at the front window to help with picking up orders. The past several times it has been a crabby old lady. She isn't helping their business. Today we ordered pickup online. When I arrived she didn't have a record of my order and asked if it was GrubHub. I told her no, I had ordered it myself on their website. She snarled and said their website is down and I must have ordered on the other service. When she went to check she found it as a GrubHub order. Also ordered 3 extra hushpuppies at .25 a piece. Total for the order was almost $16. I try to support local businesses as much as possible. They used to be in a different locale and closed for a while due, I believe, to the owner passing. I noticed the message under the current restaurant sign is "voted best in Georgia." I walked into the restaurant, and there was no one there. I loved one told me that if you go into a restaurant and it's a ghost town, turn right back around. Pros: hushpuppies Cons: 1) Steak fries. Room temperature and tough texture indicating that they were not freshly prepared. Honestly tasted like they were made when the store opened (or previous day). 2) Shrimp. We occasionally get SeaPak popcorn shrimp from the grocery frozen section, and this tasted the EXACT same. 3) Customer Srvc. I paid for my order and checked my food to find that I was 1 hushpuppy short (I paid for 3 extra). I went inside to inform the cashier, who was now sweeping the floors. Her response, "it's probably buried in there." #1 there wasn't enough of the SeaPak-like shrimp to bury it, and #2 I have advanced degrees and am proficient in counting. She went to the back, and without washing her "sweeping hands" produced me another hushpuppy with no wait.
