However, last time I took my bike in, I called to schedule as usual, waited the week or so for my "appointment" then took my bike in and dropped it off for basic brake maintenance. The next day, I received a call from them telling me I needed to come pick my bike up, as they no longer work on e-bikes and cargo bikes (my bike is both), as they are not set up for it. I was surprised as they had worked on this same bike more than one time, making sure to inform me they couldn't service any part of the motor. They could have "grandfathered" me in out of respect for my past business or at least not have allowed me to drop the bike off much less kept it overnight. When I picked it up they barely seemed apologetic about the situation and did not acknowledge the odd flip-flop. To add insult to injury there was an ebike in the repair stand at the time. I have since seen other people leaving the shop with their e-bikes. So what gives? I mean, don't lie to me if you don't like my bike. For the record, I was never disrespectful or rude when dealing with them. I have since begun taking my ebike to JohnnyNerdOut, a shop here in the Couve that specializes in ebikes, and they are amazing. I would never take another bike into Bike Clark County. The shop manager has shitty customer service skills.

Firstly, I commute 6 miles one way and drop my kid off at daycare. I'm also a big dude so I know things on my bike get loose and wear down based on the weight and use of the bike. Left Coast is amazing!! They listen to what I perceive is wrong with the bike and provide feedback based on what they see at the point of inspection. As they work on the bike they'll text me about other items they spot and when they are finished. Each time I've spoken with them and worked with them, they make you feel informed, educated, and comfortable. I've been to a few local companies in North Portland that after I drop my bike off they make me feel bad about the components on my bike, trying to upsell just about everything. Gunther expertly and reasonably repaired the missing hinge screw (that we looked all over for, even Eahora couldn't provide the part!), fixed the wiring the crank sheared, replaced the display, and put everything right with the bike. We are so grateful for his willingness to take on this challenge when so many of the bike shops wouldn't and when Eahora wouldn't or couldn't provide any help. Please help us keep these small repair shops in business, they are treasures under pressure from our disposable society where there are fewer and fewer little shops willing and able to embark on repairs.

Once I prompted him again, he demanded up-front payment of $125, which I paid, then he shipped the battery ... sort of ... "Sort of because -- intentionally/vindictively or not -- he did not enter the apartment number of my address (although it is the same address he had already sent the bike to). USPS therefore returned the shipment to him on 26 April 2024. He did not contact me again, but on 30 April I received a notification from USPS that a shipping label has been printed, but as of 03 May at 13:27, he has not shipped the battery again. Bottom line: I bought a bike with a battery from him, but now he is not sending me my battery back although both battery and the repair were paid for -- the fact that he is unable to ship a package to an address already in the system is no my fault. In other words, I am currently out a battery, US$125 for its repair, and I have also not been able to use a $2000 bike for many weeks now during the time he has had the battery. I am about to contact the Better Business Bureau and -- thank God for legal insurance -- have begun the process of retaining the services of an attorney. My advice now, after these additional more than two weeks of him not sending me my property: stay away as far as you can -- to a legal lay person like me, what this business is doing seems borderline criminal.
