I've spent thousands at this place, and never regretted a bit of it until today. brought in a couple of kids bikes with deep sentimental value. instead of telling me they'd prefer not to work on them, they started by telling me how worthless they were. it was deeply disappointing. it was a waste of gas and time. read more

‍ Hold onto your handlebars, because Vancouver Cyclery just kicked that 3.8 rating to the curb! Who knew a bike shop could outshine the Northern Star in service? Brace yourself for a tale that'll have you saying, "Yelp, that just happened!" Once upon a time, about 7 years back, I strutted into their bike wonderland and snagged a trusty Specialized bike for my kid. Fast forward to yesterday, and there I was, blaming my flat tire on my oh-so-cushy caboose. But guess what? The bike whisperers waved away my rear-end allegations! They winked, "Need anything else, kind sir?" In my frugal wisdom, I waved back a, "Nah, I'm good." Off it went into their capable hands, with a promise to be back in 24 hours (give or take a few winks). Plot twist alert! Less than 2 hours later, I get a digital love note: "Your bike's ready, friend!" Early bird gets the bike, or something like that? Skepticism strapped on, I zoomed over, only to find my two-wheeled companion all spruced up and ready to roll. Now, picture this: A mechanic, not just any mechanic but a maestro of gears, pops the question: "How's your shifting game, bud?" I play it cool, not wanting to admit my gear-shifting game is more like a one-man band gone rogue. But this bike guru, unfazed, goes, "Let me sprinkle some magic on those gears!" He fine-tunes, tweaks, and twirls, all in the name of safety. And guess what? No charge, my friend! His concern was for my safety! I'm still scratching my helmet-clad head. Who goes above and beyond like this? ‍ Their vibe? Friendlier than a golden retriever in a belly rub convention. Their selection? Bigger than Bigfoot's shoe collection. Located just a GPS blink (one intersection off) away from I-5, they're the definition of convenience. But here's the pièce de résistance - their service is so good, I'm crafting this review instead of WORKING OR binge-watching cat videos! I love this local shop. We have purchased two adult bikes, a few for kiddos, and had them breathe life back into a few second-hand finds. They are always helpful, kind, and sell quality bikes that last. read more

Stopped in this afternoon to buy a tire and tube. Long story short, the guy with blonde hair who quite often "helps" us out is very rude. I can't use more appropriate and descriptive language, but I'm voting with my dollars, at this point, and I'll make the drive across the river next time. I've bought several items at this shop over the last year and keep having the same miserable interactions with this one individual. You'd think that this one individual would remember me at some point, and think of some new, crafty insults. To this one individual, I apologize for not having my reading glasses with me today. I guess I was totally in the wrong for asking you to help me find the tire size instead of just blankly looking at me. I sort of thought that was why I was in your shop - for some help. How rude of me, huh? And you made a good point ("I don't know how they let you drive like that?"). Well, I must have made a break from the retirement home, huh? Honestly, i'm super tired of your attitude that borders on laziness/elitism. I'm assuming it's part of your plan to not have me come back, so you win. Plenty of bike shops on the other side of the river where you don't have to get permission to leave the old folks home (I'm actually only 49. But hey, i guess that's kind of old) or ride your fixie, just to buy a new tire. My bad for making an effort to support local business here in Vancouver. read more

Quick service. Friendly staff. They took my bike in same day and it was ready next day. My bike runs great after they repaired it.

Had an experience where I paid them to pack up a bike for shipping. Told it would be a week. Took twice as long as they said it would take. Could not get a hold of them over email. Requested bike not be shipped out until a specific date as I would not be around due to it taking a week longer than originally told. This was confirmed over the phone. Bike was shipped next day instead of next Wednesday, and I had to pay to have UPS hold the bike for me. Seem like nice people but they need to work on their communication. Being busy isn't an excuse to provide lack of communication or follow thru. read more

Vancouver Cyclery is a great little bike shop that offers bikes for all ages. We were assisted by Will and with his help narrowed our choices to an E-Bike (Trek), 2 kids BMX (Haro) bikes and some accessories. The prices are comparable to other bike shops and we feel that our purchases were a good value. These bikes will get a lot of use! read more

This place has definitely changed with the new owner, Will. I enjoy coming to this shop now and want them to become huge and successful. They are all very kind and knowledgeable and want to help. If they don't have what you are looking for they will get it for you. The fit me into their schedule and finished my bike a day before they said they would, always awesome. We wanted to purchase a new bike for my daughter's birthday. I went in on a Tuesday to buy a bike for a Friday Birthday party. There wasn't anything that would work for my daughter on the showroom floor. However, wihle in the store, we looked at the Trek and Haro websites and selected a Haro for her. We had other options locally, including a cheaper, but less desirable bike available at Dick's, but we liked the Haro and chose it over the alternatives. It was coming from Californina and the website indicated that it wouldn't arrive in time. Brad assured me that the shop had a shipping account with Haro and that it would be there by Friday. I paid for the bike in full through the Haro website using the shop computer. The next day I got a FedEx notice that the shipment would arrive Saturday, a day late. I called the shop to get an update and they indicated that the shipment would likely not arrive Friday, but they would try to pull some strings. We touched base a couple more times over the week for shipping updates. As a contingency we bought the bike at Dick's so that she would have a present on her birthday, in case the Haro didn't arrive in time. Turns out this was a good move. The Haro didn't arrive until Monday! I went back to the store to get my refund on the Haro only to be told that there would be a restocking fee. Or was it a shipping fee? They weren't sure what the fee was for, but all they were sure about was that I wasn't getting my entire purchase price back. They kept 10% of the price plus the bike itself, and all we got was the run around. It's sitting on their showroom floor for sale and I paid nearly $50 to put it there. I don't want to say it's an intentional scam, but they sure didn't go out of their way to deliver a bike on time or to refund my money. We're in the market for a new bike for my son. Will be looking elsewhere. read more

I have an Ebike. I called the Vancouver cyclery , spoke with the owner and he said go ahead and bring the bike in and they would fix the flat and bleed the brake. I arrived at Vancouver cyclery and was greater by the owner telling me sorry he won't work on my Ebile. I was obviously confused. So I not only wasted my time getting the bike loaded, I was taken back by the sheer arrogance and lack of customer service. To add, I had taken the bike into the same shop a few months prior and they fixed my flat tire with no problem... They didn't recommend any other cycle shops and told me to go to a motorcycle shop... It was like he didn't care that he agreed to fix the bike and then I take time out of my day and he tells me he won't work on Ebikes anymore and should have told me before I committed to visiting his store. After I loaded my bike back on the truck, his employee told me I could change the tire myself and he would sell me a tube. I agreed and followed him into the store to buy the tube... but to my surprise when we entered, the employee went and helped another customer. Not only did he help the other customer, he rang him up before me and ignored the fact that I should have been rung up first. I was very patient, but was shocked at the level of disrespect and neglect to a paying customer. Honestly what happens to customer service??? What happen to an honest business owner!?? Never go here if you expect good customer service and individuals who want to make the customer happy and return for future business. There are so many better shops around who actually care for and help their clients.... I called around and 3 other cycle shops helped me and pointed me in the right direction. It shows that this business has burned bridges with other local cycle repair shops... Maybe this will help them become more conscientious of their business practices... But I strongly doubt it read more

I have an old specialized bike that has been used a great deal well loved. I had a partner that never used their bike. My goal was to repair my old bike with the parts from the bike garages and used almost never. I walked in the door. The technician barely looked at bike and said it looked great needs new chain. I'd be better off selling the old bike than repair. Didn't give me a chance to say why I wanted the bike. I tried to explain that the bike did have issues like the chain was always falling off and about to say I got stranded in Seatle and it was not able to ride at all and sprocket was bent. With closer look he admitted it was bent said I can just pound into place. I have money and no time. He was completely not interested in repairing to bike. Said he was more than 2 weeks out and no way to store it. Better off getting new and put bikes up for sale. I'm sure he knows how to fix a bike. I could to with a stand an you tube videos. However when I come to a bike shop I just expect service and that is not what happened here. I have gotten new bike here. No tax and a years service for my kids. I bought new tires and that went fine. The repair situation was terrible. Help them out with their back log. Go somewhere else. They want to sell bikes. You can buy those off Amazon. read more

I'm guessing we went in on an off day or something because the service we got was pretty bad. This was a couple weeks ago in June. We were unaware of the bike shortage when we went in there, but when asking for recommendations for a first time buyer the guy on the sales floor was a little condescending and told us to "do your own research online" and when asking what he recommend he said "I like all the bikes" ...I've worked in customer service for a very long time and that non-answer kinda irritated me. The whole reason we went to a shop was to get info from an "expert" instead of a forum and it seemed like they did not care and just wanted to be done with the interaction. I walked away to look at other things while my partner tried to get more info from the guy (he proceeded to walk my partner through how to browse the Trek site from the in store display). Throughout their conversation I heard the sales guy ask if my partner was married (we're not) and then he cracked a "you don't have to ask the wife then" joke. I get that we don't look like a stereotypical "gay" couple, and if the service had been better from the start it probably wouldn't have bothered me and I would have gently corrected him, but that was the straw. Once their conversation ended I went back to my partner and suggested we leave. Since then, I have done my research and purchased two bikes from different retailers. It would have been great to have gotten the experience that others have reported because this is the closest shop to us, but even if it was a one-off, or they were having a bad day, I still get frustrated thinking back on it. That's why I decided to post. I'm not here to tell anyone where to shop, but I just wanted to share my experience. read more

I was interested in Buying some accessories for my European Swiss Made Bicycle. The Sales person would not let me come into the Store and ask specifically what I wanted. This place is great. Their prices were the exact same as Trek's website. When you purchase a bike there, they also pay the sales tax on the bike and the accessories on the same purchase. I bought my Trek bike here about 5 years ago. The service was excellent. The salesman (who was actually a technician) took lots of time to explain features. I chose add-on items and my bike was soon ready. I have had the bike serviced several times since. The repair prices are reasonable. The staff are super courteous. There is a shop dog who greets each customer. The selection of bikes and accessories is very good, in a neat and tidy shop. The location is convenient, with a parking lot. Today I watched a mom taking her two kids in for new bikes. There was no pressure to buy today, she got good advice and the kids were involved in the shopping while the employee answered everyones questions. Over the last 5 years, they have clearly been growing. More employees, more bikes, more accessories, and a new counter. But that have retained their small shop service attitude. I cannot say enough good things about Vancouver Cyclery. I absolutely recommend them for a new bike, accessories, or repairs and maintenance. read more

I just recently purchased an older street bike and wanted to have a shop check it out to make sure everything was tip top. Vancouver Cyclery was the closest and had decent reviews. I brought it in and the main issue was the back tire was a bit out of shape so it needed Truing. they estimated $54 and 3 weeks. 4 weeks later I received the text it was ready, and I saw it was at $74. Right when I was about to pay the employee retrieving my bike realized the back tire was flat for an unknown reason. Somehow in the process of them working on the bike the tire got punctured. So I was charged for another tire and labor through no fault of my own, which brought it up to $95. Then as he was bringing the bike to me he said the back tire was warped and that cant be fixed. Isnt that what truing fixes? Warped tires? So the whole reason To recap -Main issue not resolved -Took much longer than promised -Shop added new issue to bike and charged for it -Ended up being almost twice as much as quoted for no apparent reason . Very frustrating read more

Very helpful staff. Limited selection of bikes (like everywhere) at this time but not VCs fault. Recommend

I'm not part of the lycra crowd, I'm a humble wannabe bike commuter who has waited far too long to get in the saddle again... I've been in their shop 4 times in the last 4 months, mostly for flats, but also to have some things upgraded on my hybrid. Every time I have been in there they are friendly, professional, and fast with the service whether I have bought the upgraded parts from them or online. I never feel like they only cater to one group or another, in fact while I have waited for repairs I have watched and listened to the way they treat their variety of customers. I absolutely love this place. Every time I go in I'm welcomed with a smile. I can't help but to look at what they have to offer. When the pandemic hit no one had a bike. These guys were amazing and spent a good hour or more answering my silly naive questions and ultimately landed me a beautiful bike that is not only comfortable but also handles really well. I know a lot of people are upset that they now don't have any bikes so remember. The pandemic effects not only small stores but also their suppliers and manufacturers. Be patient and they will get more in just like everyone else. Also if you don't have the tools and they are out, chances are they will do the service for you for a small fee. read more

I spent about 5 hours with Will. I tried 3 or 4 bicycles out before making up my mind. I wanted an upgrade from my comfort bike to something that would allow me to handle some steeper inclines too. On every test ride he made sure the frame was the right size, the seat was the right height, and the bike had the necessary features that I was looking for. I looked around on Craigs List and other stores first, but I couldn't beat the price and service. What do I mean? 1. One year free bike service and adjustments. 2. No sales tax. Even though they have already discounted the bike! 3. Accessories purchased at the same time are sales tax free too. 4. Free installation of accessories purchased with bike! 5. Free tune-ups and adjustments for a year. This is just for starters. How many bike dealers do you think would spend 5 to 6 hours with you to make sure you get the right bike read more

This place is lame, and I mean lame!! First off, they have no full suspension bikes to test ride, and they don't except the trek credit card despite being a trek dealer. I came in today with my new trek credit card, and cash in hand to order the fuel ex 9.8 27.5 bike, because I'm a vancouver resident and wanted to keep it local. But no, this so called bike shop won't take the trek card...wow! Ok, no worries, off to portland I go to spend some money...hahahaha! These guys are friendly and knowledgeable, but seem to be only for the novice riders, not the hard core like me, who has been riding in the colorado mountains before their were even mountain bikes available. It's a seems to be a great place if you're new to bicycling, but stay clear of this place if you're hard core. Save yourself some time and just make the trek (pun intended) across the river to portland, where their's plenty of full suspensions to test ride, and plenty of hard core, experienced salesman who eat, sleep and dream about mountain bikes as much as I do!! Had a Craigslist Special bike in the Portland area that needed to be broken down and shipped to Southern California. Mike and John at Vancouver Cyclery did a great job, carefully taking apart the vintage cruiser, padding, then shipping the unit. When it arrived at my local bike shop, they were impressed with the care taken in packing up my new bike. The moral of the story: If they pay that amount of attention to a single shipping package for someone out of state, my assumption is that they will take just of good of care for your needs when you're standing in their shop. I know a few people in the greater Portland area have heartily recommended Vancouver Cyclery already to them. read more

I went in the other day to get a repair quote. The millenial behind the counter tried to convince me I needed products I know I didn't need. When I declined and explained why, he got agitated and he literally told me to get out of the store. If I ever caught one of my employees trying to scam my customers, let alone speaking to them like this, they'd be out looking for a job same day. This kid is going to cost them a lot of customers but for all I know he's probably their biggest revenue generator. I'll never go back. The silver lining? I found a new LBS with integrity. read more
