The customer service here is phenomenal! I needed service done on my spa and found The Better Pool Guy through a yelp search. I requested a quote through yelp and Beth responded promptly with great information. From there I was able to communicate with her via text to collect more information and set up the service. For me this was a great method to communicate as I spend a lot of my days in meetings/conference calls so a quick text to communicate was great. Since this was for a vacation home, it made things a little bit more complicated, but Beth went above and beyond to explain things to me and try to find a way to get the service done before I arrived for a visit. Even though it likely would have been easier to just arrange for the service when I was there, Beth actually said to me that she'd like to have it ready for my use instead of having to wait a week. I really appreciated that. There also was a some confusion with me receiving the write-up/pictures after the service, but again, a quick text and Beth was super responsive. She explained they had just switched to a new system and were still learning the ropes but went out of her way to make sure I got the information I needed. I also received a follow-up email with further explanation making sure I had the information. Overall, I was really impressed with the level of customer service here. It would have been very easy to just brush me off, but multiple times they went out of their way to help me. I highly recommend them! read more

This company only cares about money. Period!!! I want to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service provided by this company. I have been a customer for almost 2 years and have increasingly felt that the company's primary focus is on extracting as much money as possible from its clients, rather than providing quality service. Firstly, since hiring this company to service my pool, I have consistently been told that my pool is not working well due to its age, and that various components need to be replaced and this is when my pool was running perfectly fine before they installed new pump. The most recent incident that prompted this feedback was when my pool pump stopped working and this is a new pump they have installed last year. After contacting them, I was shocked to receive an invoice for $1424 for a service that I eventually managed myself. They didn't even stop by to see the issue but simply sent me invoice for $1426. It took me just one hour of watching YouTube videos to identify and fix the issue, and since then, my pool has been running better than it has in a long time. I was able to adjust the pump speed and schedules without any professional assistance. Furthermore, I have noticed that since they replaced my pump, my pool has experienced nothing but problems. The company has consistently blamed these issues on the age of my pump and system. This approach is reminiscent of a car dealer suggesting numerous unnecessary repairs during an oil change and it is not a business model I am comfortable supporting when it is clearly they only want to bill you and make as much money they can knowing that you are not professional and you have no choice. I want to emphasize that everything I have stated her is 100% true and can be substantiated with invoices and records. I have since found a much better pool service company that is extremely professional. My pool has never been cleaner, and everything is running smoothly without the exorbitant costs I experienced with this company. read more

Wen there is a problem or concern outside of their maintenance agreement, they always contact me to let me know what the concern is and tell costs associated for repair. Let it be a warning that for anyone considering The Better Pool Guy, who claim to be experts in their field, after our pool flat surfaces turned brown and green literally overnight, I also pointed out that the stainless steel ring around our pool light was black, according to scientific study, the reason for stainless steel turning black, which ours has never been is as follows : Cause The most likely reason stainless steel turns black in a pool is oxidation, which is caused by chlorine in the pool. The oxidation process, known as rouging, also can occur as a result of exposure to minerals in pool water, which causes orange or red rust stains on stainless steel instead of black stains. Stainless steel blackened due to rouging also may be pitted. Removal Black oxidation cannot be removed by wiping or cleaning stainless steel. One option is to polish or grind the stainless steel, but a simpler process is to remove it with a citric acid solution. Citric acid is available in powder form at hardware stores and natural food stores. Stores that sell home canning supplies also may sell citric acid. Dissolving 1/4 cup citric acid in 1 quart water makes the solution. Wipe the mixture on the stainless steel; use a cotton swab or small paintbrush to reach inside crevices. After waiting 10 minutes, scrub the stainless steel, and rinse it with clean water. The process can be repeated if necessary. Considerations Unfortunately, removing the black tarnish from stainless steel is only a temporary solution. As long as the stainless steel is exposed to chlorinated water, it probably will become rouged again. The best bet is either to live with the black stainless steel or replace it with a non-metal material. Notably, The Better Pool Guy was in charge of completely maintaining our pool cleanliness, chemistry and inspecting our equipment at the agreed price by automatic payment. The Better Pool Guy started servicing our pool in July 2020. The pool techs sent photos to provide evidence of the pool condition since that date. This includes the period during and well after our pool and deck resurfacing were performed where none of the current damage existed for a period of at least 7 months. It is clear that your technician did not check the pool chlorination system when topping it up and by his own admission, after his second visit, informed us that the chlorination control valve was broken forcing a massive amount of chlorine into the pool, thus turning the stainless steel light ring black, and causing the additional damage we now see, including serious discoloration and holes through the pool surface down to the substrate Your technician informed my wife and I that Mr. Cope (the owner) would be at our property either on the following Monday or Tuesday, but we all we heard was silence until I had to call your office, at which point you were magically able to arrive in 20 minutes. You stated in your report that you "felt threatened" by me, what a complete load of garbage. In fact your "report" was an interesting fabrication. I was an upset customer who had been ignored with a damaged pool who was being told by you that my problem was a "surface issue", and after being questioned by me stated that you were "done" at which point you took your box and walked out leaving me with the problem. It was only at that point did I lose my temper and inform you that you were to get off my property and I would be seeking legal advice as it was very clear you were looking for every other reason in the world other than your own company's incompetence for the damage to our pool. As you have no intention of correcting your grave mistake and horrendous reaction to our complaint, I have now referred this matter to our attorneys. Stay away from this company. I am more than happy to provide photos of the irreparable damage they caused to our pool requiring complete resurfacing. read more

Customer Service and Business practices are AWFUL. We have used this company twice and it's NEVER been an easy process. Techs are not on time, show up and their equipment isn't charged or they don't have the right stuff, so they leave and come back. But today was the last straw when speaking with Customer Service Specialist Beth. We were charged 175$ previously for the past two services AND now they want to charge 315$, 140$ MORE for the exact same pool and service. After getting no response to my last email we called. Beth said, some technicians take 59 minutes and some take longer and last time the technician took longer than an hour so we are billing you the extra 140$ for the service. So, I said great! I want the efficient tech that can do the Service in one hour And she said that's not possible. So, to clarify I'm paying more based on your scheduling errors and sending me a less efficient tech, and Beth said unfortunately yes. Conclusion: The BetterPool Guy is actually NOT better and is actually WORSE than the rest. Do yourself a favor and call another service, there's plenty that do what they do with better customer service and better business practices. read more

Very professional company. I have interacted with the Tim the owner , and a few of his employees. Jack, Evan, Beth, all are outstanding employees. Everyone is very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. If the Techs didn't have the answer to my question they called the office and got me the answer. I have used this The Better Pool Guy for over fives years. So very happy with their service. I love the weekly emails after the techs service which includes pictures of the pool, chemicals / PSI reading and any chemicals added to he pool. After Home Serve Insurance replaced my pool pump and filtering equipment. (Not the Better Pool Guys). I had to call The Better Pool Guy to come fix all of the Home Serve screw ups. So When I decided to change my pool to salt water I knew who to call, the Better Pool Guy. Jack and Tim explained all my options the the prices up front. They did the job right the first time. When I needed a new pool timer and digital solar controls, once again every option was explained with the prices. No extra charges and the Job was completed right the first time. This is a great company that provides, great professional services. We recently contacted this company as my pump was not letting my waterfalls work. Talked to Beth on phone and she tried to work with me over the phone via FaceTime. She walked me through steps to see if I could get things working but I could not (tried to save me charges). She scheduled a appointment for Monday and Jack and Jose came they were here got things working went over everything including labeling my pipes .
