Extremely disappointed. We specifically ordered vegan meals, paid $45 for two items, and were served food containing meat. This is not a small mistake -- for vegans, this is a serious issue. On top of that, we had to pay just to enter the establishment, which made the experience even more frustrating. Paying premium prices for food that was misrepresented and not vegan is unacceptable. This felt careless, disrespectful, and honestly disgusting. If you advertise vegan options and offer to us that you can do vegan , they need to actually be vegan. This place was incredible from the food, to the drink, and most importantly the view. The staff was incredible. My fiancée and I arrived a little early for our reservation and when the hostess saw we were celebrating our engagement from the night before she asked if we would like a patio seat instead which we obviously said yes to. She sat us with the most incredible view and they gave us blankets and started the fire. My fiancée ordered the sirloin with mashed potatoes and I got the bolognese pasta. We started with the bread balloon and mac n cheese as well. The bread balloon was so yummy and the mac n cheese was incredible. My fiancée is still raving about her meal and her lavender lemon drop cocktail.. me personally the pasta was a little salty but I don't care because this place was awesome and the staff is incredible. When we arrived they told us they didn't allow hats ok that's fine- but they did allow a very large table with a million kids to be super unruly, throw a football in the restaurant, screaming/yelling running around food on the floor- parents ignoring this but super disruptive. Then the parents put the 3 kids at the bar ruining those people's time. I know this is the parents fault but they maybe should have spoken to the parents. The weather was absolutely perfect. We ordered a chicken sandwich and a harvest salad. The chicken sandwich was good and the salad was okay. I think this is my favorite restaurant I've ever been to! My mom and I came for my 21st birthday to get my first drink in a restaurant and the food, atmosphere, and service were absolutely divine. Between the mocktail and the lavender lemon drop, I really enjoyed the mocktail. The lemon drop was quite strong, and I don't think it was the drink for me, but it was so pretty! We asked our server what his favorite dessert was and he said he likes the roasted strawberries or the carrot cake, we got the latter. Every part was so so yummy! I was surprised how affordable everything was too. I will definitely be bringing friends here in the future! read more

Surprisingly good food with a lovely view! We nabbed a meal at the Pebble Beach resorts to get our 17 mile drive entry fee rebate (just ask the servers and they'll get you sorted), so I held my expectations low. Service was overall good, but expect a wait for food (gives you time to enjoy the sunshine). The bench has some lovely seating arrangements, including a sizable outdoors "bask in the full sun" set of tables with cozy tables and loungers around firepits. Indoors also had plenty of natural light or shaded seating so something for everyone. The service was definitely on the slow side though, so despite staff being attentive when they could be...they were spread a little thinly. When we arrived there wasn't anybody at the front, so we awkwardly waited there for 10 minutes before someone showed up. Food also took a decent while to come out (30 minutes for entree after appetizers came), but at least appetizer and dessert weren't as delayed. ==Mushroom fries [5/5]== These were nice and crunchy, with a moist interior thanks to the juicy mushrooms. When they said mushroom fries I had something very different in mind, as I was imagining fries with mushrooms as a topping. This iteration was definitely a pleasant surprise. The dip was incredibly rich with savory aromas and was quickly demolished (cheese blend with notes of wasabi). ==Korean Brisket Sandwich [4/5]== The brisket sandwich is a nice sandwich, but it does fall short in a couple ways. The meat is seasoned in a slightly sweet way, not unlike that of a bulgogi. Unfortunately the meat isn't quite that tender, so the texture is not as strong as it could be. The aioli does help compensate and the bread was nicely toasted. The carrot slaw has a nice crunch but a bit lacking otherwise; I feel like some kimchi would do well here. The fries were also a bit of a let down as the seasoning was pretty light and the potato a bit dry. ==Tortiglioni Bolognese [5/5]== I'm not strictly supposed to eat tomato based sauces, but this was too good to resist trying a bit of from my brother's plate. The pasta was nicely al dente, and the meat sauce was incredibly savory and rich with veal/porky goodness. The cheese had melted into the sauce just right too. No critiques from my brother either, and he's usually picky about his Bolognaise. ==Carrot Cake Sundae [5/5]== Definitely the most creative item that we had this meal. The whole sundae was composed of carrot-based items. I'm a sucker for carrot cake though, so this was a very nice compilation of all the flavors that I like. The cream cheese whip in the center had a lovely bouncy texture to it, and the sliced candy to carrot topping it was a nice surprise. Our bartender, Kevin, was super friendly and deserves a 5. We visited a week after the Pro AM so the temporary spectator structures from the event were still up and obstructed the typical view. We sat a the bar area so this was no biggie to us. We ordered the duck fat potatoes ($15), bread balloon ($17), and a Bloody Mary (~$16). Keep in mind that you're in PB so everything is pricey. The duck fat potatoes and bread balloon were good, but definitely not worth the price. The Bloody Mary was rimmed with celery salt which was a nice touch, but you could barely taste any alcohol and could've used a tad bit more tomato mix. At the host stand they took us back and forth a few times before actually finding us a table we reserved. We were sat at our table and left for 20 minutes before someone came and said a single word to us. Our waiter said "I've had things to do" and "pretty much all we have left for a special is soup". One of my favorite places to come to in Carmel, California. The bench sits overlooking the 18th hole at Pebble Beach (the iconic golf course) and has incredible ocean views during the day and the night you can see reflections on the calm bay. Always great service and friendly staff, loads of parking available both valet and first come first serve. Definitely recommend a reservation as they book up quick, even on a Monday night! I had the Pear-Fect Putt cocktail which was delicious, quite literally tasted like a cinnamon sugar pear. So yummy. We got the clams, Mac & cheese, and the swordfish all to share. Portion sizes were good but the flavors were a bit bland. We had the s'mores skillet to finish and wow - so rich and creamy if that's even a combination! I only knew about this place because my brother in law told me and my wife to go check it out when we were on the 17 mile pebble beach drive. Besides the fact that the houses were amazingly gorgeous and the beach was a sight of joy, the restaurant located by the pebble beach golf course was delicious as well. The food though pricy it was still great. The best thing on the menu had to be the dessert of course and if you see the video and picture I posted, you would understand why. My fiancé and I were doing the 17 mile drive and were STARVING. We yelped a spot near by and came across this spot in Pebble Beach! We really wanted a spot near the window to watch the sunset but it was full at that time so we put our name down and sat at the bar About 30 minutes into us splitting the shishitto peppers and fishing our first round of drinks we were told there was a table ready but we were enjoying our spot at the bar so much that we decided to stay there! From the bar you get to watch the pizzas getting taken in out of the oven as well as one the appetizers! There's this that's a giant bread ball full of hot air that we saw being made quite a lot-not sure what it was but I recommend it because it seems popular! So entertaining to watch Of course, we ended up ordering a pizza and it was fricken amazing as expected. We shared some good laughs over the peppers because both him and I ate a pepper that was extremely raw and hidden under the giant delicious mass of crispy peppers. Our mouths were literally on fire and we d tears in our eyes from burning pain/laughter. Aside from my wonderful company and the beautiful drive, this spot made our evening! Next time we are in the area we plan on staying in Pebble Beach to have more enjoyable dining experiences like this! read more

Our round went long so we were late to our reservation, but no problem as we're were seated immediately at a patio table overlooking the ocean. It was getting dark but the scenery was still beautiful. It was a chilly night and we opted for a table with the middle fire pit and it was so cozy and warm. Perfect. Since it was late, we split a couple of lighter meals, pepperoni pizza and "crispy falafel panzanella". Both were excellent. The salad was unique and I loved the 'crispy' part of it which I believe were fried chick peas. So good with the various textures and colors. Service was excellent. Food was great. The food was fabulous! My husband had the Korean brisket sandwich and couldn't stop raving about it. And the fries with a little kick were scrumptious. Outdoor seating g is cool - view of the 18th, but everyone and their mother comes out to take pictures so your view is obstructed a lot of the time. We had the burger - it is fat and small, not bad. Service was really good. We had duck fat potatoes to start - it was like someone rolled them in the salt flats then served them, way to salty (lost a star). We had good service but this service was not your typical service. Most restaurants get people seated, fed and then out for the next group. This restaurant allows you to converse and enjoy the aspects of the food and the day. It's a good change of the go, go, go nature of the world. Made a reservation about a week before with no problem. There is a $10 fee to use the 17mile road which is understandable, so many tourists driving on that road so it helps with maintenance costs...BUT know that this restaurant will reimburse you. They will ask you towards the end of the meal or you can mention it. There were two semi small lots near the top of the entrance so we got lucky and found one up front. There is a shopping plaza and greenbelt right in front of the main hotel/condos and people window shopping or taking pictures. It wasn't super clear where the restaurant was so U had to ask one of the valets and he was very nice and told me how to get down to it. It's technically downstairs of that hotel. (There is a bar and another restaurant at lobby level too.) We got a small table outdoors and the hostess was nice enough to offer us another table that was away from the 'service setup' area and closer to the amazing ocean view. The table we moved to was much bigger (apparently that party had canceled their reservation last minute). I appreciated the offer to move because it was very noisy with plates and utensils clanging in the back. The outdoor view is AMAZING! But be prepared it can get very warm if the sun is out or very windy...so pack sunblock/sunglasses/hat and/or a sweater lok. The restaurant is semi casual and kid/Family friendly so all are welcome. Great variety on the drink list and food menu. I got the chopped salad with the most tender and delicious steak I've had a long time. The desserts were fabulous, I highly recommend saving some room for the salted caramel dessert and the strawberry cobbler with cheesecake ice-cream. Our server and the food runner were both very friendly, social but down to earth. Our server explained some key options and made recommendations. He was also very nice with my girls so extra points for that. We enjoyed this place so much that we look forward to taking my in-laws here. Organic Mushroom flatbread - I really enjoyed this but wish the flatbread wasn't so powdery on the crust. The Bench Burger - The bread was dry. The food? Is great, no denying that. The service? Equally good--servers are well-informed and helpful. Management, however, is a different story. I made a reservation for a birthday celebration days in advance, specifically requesting outdoor seating. Upon arrival, the manager in charge of seating informed us that reservations are for indoor seating only. If we wanted to sit outside, we'd have to join a waitlist with an estimated wait time of over an hour. This was disappointing, especially since the main draw of Bench is the stunning views, best enjoyed from the outdoor seating. To make matters worse, despite my birthday request and the visible availability of outdoor tables, we were still seated inside. This kind of mismanagement or policy is a surefire way to lose loyal customers. Here's my advice: skip making a reservation. Instead, show up an hour before you'd like to eat, add your name to the waitlist, and enjoy the outdoor views when your table is ready. If you're fine with dining indoors, there are plenty of other restaurants that don't require a reservation. read more
