Jeannie was the stylist. I made appointment about 2 weeks earlier. I have 2 strips of a mini highlight in purple. She asked for photos of my hair to get the shade right. She did not search for it. I waited for half hour while she "finished" with the prior appointment. She was erratic. When I was about to get into her chair, she walked over to the stylist next to her and whispered to her. The stylist reached into one of her drawers and handed her a tube of the purple color, not my shade! She was sloppy in applying the color, she did not listen to what I requested and as to how the color was to be applied. Instead of having 2 strips about an inch in width, she spread it and blocked the color. Parts that already had color became deeper and those that had no color became pink. I was traumatized. What made it worse, a male stylist behind a wall devide, kept mimicking me as I was horrified that the color was spread to far and it was pink . I could her him saying. "It's too pink it's too pink." The haircut was choppy, I asked the for the layes to be a little lifted. I almost got whiplash from the blow dry. The end result looked like a home-made cut gone wrong. I was literally traumatized and in shock. I was robotic as I tipped her and made a future appointment. I did cancel it within a week afterwards when I regained some composure. I ended up waiting several months to let the color fade and the hair grow out before making an appointment with another salon. read more

I came in for a haircut and bangs. I have done concerns from stylist nightmares over the years, and I hadn't gone to a pro in six years. Jeannie listened and didn't take a millimeter off my length. I have curtain bangs that frame my face and slight long layers to get some movement in my thick, long hair. I'm thrilled. (and I usually have regrets. Not here.) Jeannie made me comfortable and I'll have no issue returning. Might I say I might be looking forward to it? UPDATE: As of 8 pm last night, Austin still continued to harass me via text message. The text reads as follows: "Your reviews speak for themselves. I'm sorry you feel so inadequate. Instead of a salon try a therapist. Namaste away from you". This is borderline harassment. I refuse to partake in this childish behavior. A photo of his last message and a time stamp have been included. I had an appointment scheduled here today at 10:30 with Austin Norris. Let me start off by saying that the beauty box storefront is adorable. The interior is visually appealing and artistically put together, and the overall cleanliness of the store seems great. This review is about the appalling treatment I had with beauty box employee Austin Norris, who not only called me names, but continued to tell me that I couldn't afford their services and that he knew other hair stylists that he was going to report me to, as if he was threatening me. Um, ok? Also he told me to never come back to HIS salon. The gist of this post is Austin showing up nearly a half hour late to our scheduled appointment, and when asked if it was ok, I told him no it wasn't. With the amount of time I had available the tardiness on his behalf wouldn't work. The level of pettiness he then came at me with, was shocking to say the least. The name calling and financial shaming pictures in our text exchange is not only unprofessional but embarrassing for the beauty box company. This started with me showing up slightly ahead of schedule for my balayage. I got a text at 10:27 from Austin saying he hit traffic and was going to be there "ultra" fast. I'm thinking he was just a few minutes behind and would be there shortly. So I go into the salon and was told by the gal there to have a seat. 10 more minutes go by and no Austin. So I text him and asked him how late he would be. He responded it would be 10-15 more minutes, and asked if it would "mess me up". I worked a 16 hour shift the day before, getting off at 11:30 and home by just after midnight and was scheduled to work again today. I was so tempted to cancel both of my appointments this morning, including my appointment with Austin, because of how tired I was. But I didn't because I wanted to respect Austin's time and the 24 hour notice request made by beauty box. I booked this appointment to treat myself and to try something different with my hair, even though I had little time to do so. After Austin text me saying he would be another 10-15 minutes late, I decided to leave. I let the lady know on my way out that Austin said he wouldn't be in for another 10-15 minutes so I was leaving. That his behavior was unprofessional and to make me wait almost a half hour for him to show up to work on time was an excuse that you give to an employee, not to a customer. I realize that the gal working was not at fault. She was with a customer, and even though she acted like "what's the big deal", she was not to blame for Austin's tardiness. I went home to regroup but texted Austin back saying that actually yes, that is going to "mess me up" as he put it. I told him pretty much exactly what I told the other gal at the shop. I have worked in customer service the majority of my working life, currently for an airline. I have never ever had a customer talk to me the way Austin did via text. I have learned a long time ago to apologize to a customer even when things are completely out of my control. This was well within Austin's. Everything is time stamped and included in the photos is an appointment change made well ahead of the 24 hours beauty box requests to cancel/change appointments. That request goes two ways. Respect my time, I will respect yours.. and own up to your part. If I get called out on my bullshit I will own up to it and attempt to correct my behavior. Austin called me a Karen, childish, told me I could only afford Floyd's anyways with my budget (which is incredibly rude. Everyone has to make there money somehow, why bring in another business who is just trying to get by like everyone else? What an unnecessary comment. Also, the Karen thing is so overplayed) Lastly, I stopped participating in this text conversation at 11 this morning, and Austin continued to message until shortly after two. If you book at this place, I would not recommend booking with Austin Morris. Not only does his work ethic seem to be lacking, but his professionalism and overall decency towards another human being for his own error need a quite a bit of development. read more

Jeannie Yi is the best! I met Jeannie 20 years ago and she was my stylist until I moved out of state about 9 years ago. I have not been able to find an awesome stylist like Jeannie since I moved. I reached out to her when planning my trip back to Denver. She was able to fix up my botched up hair color and haircut. I've gone to several stylists in Honolulu who haven't been able to get the color and cut I was ever really pleased with. Jeanie went above and beyond to correct my hair color and then gave me partial highlights and haircut. She styled my hair beautifully by blow drying it straight per my request since I naturally have wavy hair and I love it straight. She is an expert and she gave me recommendations on how to care for my hair. Jeannie is a miracle worker! She is the best stylist I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating. I found this salon through searching Yelp for "best hair colorist Denver." Lynn Parker had great reviews and I thought I'd give it a shot. I had been trying to grow out my hair color and couldn't make it. Lynn was AMAZING. She knows color and was able to give me exactly the color I was looking for. She also took me through what she planned to do and talked with me about her plan, that meant a lot to me. (Going to a new stylist/colorist can be a little nerve wracking.) Not only was Lynn awesome, but the overall vibe of the salon was friendly and like you're getting your hair done at a friend's home (as in, that welcoming). AND after she completed the color, she styled it in a fun way I hadn't tried before, and I loved it. (I often go home and restyle my hair after someone does it.) I came here for a hair appointment 3 weeks ago, to meet my stylist Jessica. I was happy to find parking right out front. I know that parking in that neighborhood can sometimes be difficult, so to snag a good spot right off the bat was great. Also, great location! Love the neighborhood and how close it is to Wash Park. The space is gorgeous. I loved the colors and the eclectic furniture. The exposed brick on the back wall is beautiful. We were at the station in the front window. I absolutely love natural light, so I was happy. Also, my stylist brought her dog . Puppy time always makes me happy. As my stylist was washing my hair, another stylist and her dog came in. Puppy overload! I was so happy to have them there - they were too cute! My hair was cut and blown out beautifully. Will definitely be back to see Jessica when she's in town again! read more

A long- time friend recommended I visit the beauty box when I told her I was looking for a new stylist. I took the leap and booked with Lynn. I have been thrilled with her as a stylist and as a person. Lynn is smart, funny, and easy going. Those characteristics are a big plus when you are sitting in a chair for a while. I went really short after having shoulder length hair for a few years. I knew the cut was a success when a colleague asked for my stylist's name and booked an appointment the same week. Lynn is Amazing!! Best haircut I've had in a long time!! When I met her I was nervous just because I am very picky because I'm a hairstylist myself. I can't obviously cut my own hair, and not everyone is experienced in short haircuts but Lynn went over the top for me. I went to get a full gel set on my nails. Annamarie was nice and did a pretty good job, however, I was charged $36 when the price listed on the website for a full gel set is $28. That's a pretty big discrepancy, if the prices have gone up you all really need to truthfully advertise that on the website! read more

The beauty box is OK. They did an ok job, I do have some breakage after my appointment. Also the toner they used left my hair with a purplish hue for about a week. This place just didn't wow me at all. On the bright side they gave me a 20% off as a new customer so that was nice. But when you are trusting someone with your hair and paying your hard earned money you want to walk out of there feeling hot not like well that toner will fade In a week and then it will look normal...also like your hair is in better condition than when you went in, not like it damaged in spots. Will not be coming back here. There are just too many other salons to choose from! read more

I have been coming to Marcy for almost TEN YEARS! You will not find a more experienced colorist out there. She's not afraid to try new ideas yet, she doesn't push anyone out of their comfort zone.
