Listen, Summerland may be a sleepy little town but the coffee & food at The Beanery will wake your ass up!!! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and honestly the coffee is some of the best I've had. It gets busy early in the morning so prepare for a lineup. read more

Loved the interior design and decorations of this modern cafe! Plenty of seating available for big groups. I thought the food was ok. The sandwich only had two pieces of ham and the shepherds pie lacked seasoning. The soup was very flavourful and I loved the brownie. read more

The quality of this cafe has seriously gone down. Cold food poorly made drinks and baristas who aren't the nicest. Wouldn't recommend.

Absolutely love this place and make a point to visit every time we visit family in Penticton! The coffee drinks are delicious and their paleo bar and Nanaimo bars are amazing. You can tell the owner has a special connection with the locals and he works hard to take care of all of his customers. We love eating in or taking it to go. Would eat here way too often if we lived in Summerland! read more

I liked the way the cafe was set up.... comfortable couches, high and low seating at tables, outdoor seating and the display of food choices and wall menu in the back corner. Good coffee and vegetarian and ham&cheese quiches heated nicely. Loved the blueberry bran muffin! read more

* I violated my rule * I have a rule about cafes. If they are advertising any types of flavoured coffee drinks (you know anything involving lots of flavour syrups or blenders or sugary goop), I generally avoid ordering an espresso as they likely tend to not have much of a coffee focus since they frequently cover up their coffee with flavours. For some reason walking into this cafe I ignore my rule even though they had all sorts of coconut flavoured coffees on offer. I should have stuck to my rule. The espresso had lots of bubbles, and a very thin crema that was already dissipating around the edges. I saw it and knew it would be bitter. Sadly I was right about that, instead of being right about sticking to my rule. I only knew about this place because a friend told me about it. We spent a weekend in Summerland and ended up here THREE times in four days in between the Giantshead Grind Event, checking out wineries and just wandering around the town. The dark roast coffee hits the spot for us coffee lovers, the fresh made cinnamon buns are sweet, gooey, and satisfying, oh and they make a pretty mean breakfast too (wraps, paninis). The staff is super friendly, the owner brags about her husbands baking (rightly so!) and the view out the front door is spectacular. If you go to Summerland....find this place! read more

Nice cade for a quick breakfast! We did not try the coffee but we had food there. Their breakfast tortilla was pretty good, although a bit too small! I wanted more haha. We also tried their muffin which was pretty good, light and soft. I also had a ham and cheese roll. I wish it was harmed up but it was still good enough. For me, the restaurant experience doesn't entirely depend on how good the food is, if the food is mediocre but the service is great, it elevates the entire experience. I read good reviews about this place so decided to try it. $11.15 for a breakfast sandwich And a small coffee A little expensive , but when in Rome....I'll try it. Food was ok but what really irritated me was the snarly scowl from the blonde lady who took my order. Here's a news flash, it costs absolutely nothing to be kind and greet people with a smile. The part that irritated me the most was when I paid for my order - then dropped $2 into the tip jar sitting by the cash and instead of a 'thank you', all I get is the perpetual scowl and now so much as an acknowledgement. Our first time there Yesterday. I had the Chicken Panini which was huge, but very bland. My partner had the ham panini which was half size of chicken panini (same price), but somewhat tastier. Is Ok to provide bland sandwiches so long as you readily provide a variety of sauces/condiments. I would not recommend the sandwiches unless you like bland. read more

Came here on a Sunday morning while attending the market. Had read that the dark roast coffee was really good from other reviews. When I had my first sip of the coffee, I was literally about to spit it out. There was barely any coffee taste at all. Coffee was bland and not flavorful. Another customer next to me also had the dark roast, when she drank her coffee, I noticed that she made a face of disappointment as she had her first sip. Besides the coffee, ordered the breakfast wrap. Breakfast wrap was very good. The food there looks good. I would come back again for the food but not the coffee. read more

A lovely little place to chill in before/after exploring the adjacent vineyards and wineries. The toy train suspended from the ceiling is especially adorable, The dark roast is lovely, that does the job when it comes to afternoon coffee needs. They have a selection of baked goods , sandwiches , and prepared breakfast items. The art on the wall is for sale. It depicts somewhat cliched representations of nature. The Beanery Coffee shop in summerland is a lot bigger on the inside than you would expect from external appearances. The coffee is organic and the gingersnap cookies are extra delicious when dipped in hot coffee. There are power outlets and wifi access and lots of gorgeous art on the walls. It's a fairly popular spot full of locals and tourists having lively conversation and enjoying a fresh-baked treat. A great place to stop and recharge in Summerland. Oh my! What a great place for a cup of coffee and a dessert. The coffee is roasted locally and has a wonderful flavor. I'm drinking a cup as I write this. I am curious how I can get this down in The States without making a 7 hour drive. I was able to visit with the chef who makes the pastry's, they are made on site and she does a gorgeous job. Very favourite coffee--organic, free trade AND masterfully roasted right here in Summerland! This is the coffee I brew at home. Delicious coffee and friendly staff. I had a latte and my husband had a blended iced coffee. Their espresso was smooth, but still had tons of flavour and the milk was at the perfect temperature. My hubby is not a huge coffee drinker and really enjoyed his blended mocha, sweet but not sickly sweet. I would have given the The Beanery 5 stars, except that it was quite noisy/echoey in the building and a little bit difficult to have a conversation at our table.
