Quality is definitely there! Entire meal was around $65. Really enjoyed their pork cheek with yuzu and their grilled intestine as it's stuffed with a sliver of green onion. Meat skewers were nice and the option of add more cumin/spices to your liking is a plus.

Asian tapas style dining in a relaxed casual setting. More like an Asian Izakaya type meal. Good eats, somewhat pricey for two skewers orders but would return because of the variety and a great place for late night "snacks" with good friends. Not picture (forgot to take): tongue, this one was okay with okay taste and texture.

Love that it's open later than a lot of other businesses in the area! Yummy skewers and great food to eat with ice cold beers. Ordering here is super easy from your phone, service is super fast, and parking is easy and plentiful. We like the string beans, chicken wings, BEEF SKEWERSSS, corn cheese, and fried cabbage. Also don't forget to use the seasonings at the table to amp up the flavor even more!

We came right around 5:30pm on a Wednesday and were the first customers there. There's a QR code to scan and order. Once you submit your order, it's feels like only a 5 min wait. The food comes out pretty quickly. Cold cucumber: you have the option to make it salty or spicy. We chose spicy since we were having our fried cabbage salty. Fried cabbage: I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. The salad is crunchy, garlicky with every bite and nice to eat along with the meat skewers (and feel healthier for having veggies lol) Yuzu pork cheek: this was my favorite. The Yuzu flavor complemented the pork and the pork had a nice char on the outside and inside just melted in your mouth. If I could order 3 of these, I would. Scallops: dish came with onions and mushrooms. Nice texture For skewers, we had heart, gizzard, waygu, wrapped shrimp, lamb, pork belly. All the ones we ordered came with 2 skewers except for wrapped shrimp was just 1. Usual skewer food. The lamb was very well seasoned (looks like fennel?) and you can dip it in cumin for more flavor. Would come again!

We've been craving skewers and this is the perfect spot for them. We ordered the Chonqing Noodles, kimchi fried rice, garlic sautéed string beans, pork cheeks, pork jowl, lamb skewers, beef skewers, bacon shrimp skewers, bacon asparagus skewers, pork belly skewers, and karaage chicken. Quick and nice service. Kinda small location, but food tasted really good. Our fav dishes were the pork cheeks, pork jowl, and bacon asparagus skewers. They're located in the same plaza as Vons and LA Fitness, and right next to Blaze Pizza.

My bf and I stopped by because we weren't too hungry and just wanted some small bites. You order through your phone, and the skewers come out pretty quickly. The yakitori options are decent, but definitely skip the hotpots. We tried the lamb hotpot, and it was so bland--it literally tasted like water.

I popped in looking for an Izakaya and trying to feel samurai. It was Thursday. And did I ever find the place. Great place to bring a date it has a romantic vibe but enough for a single casual night. House music on the pipes and dry beer. And the BBQ on a par with Tokyo. Hot Pot was delish too the Chinese Asian Fusion taste and ingredients of even the House Chicken and Mushroom was an unexpected culinary treat. Who is ever in the back on Thursdays. Woo you good, man!

This place is such a chill place to go to with friends for a drink or yummy skewers xD I love how this place opens til pretty late (for Arcadia). Their skewers are seriously cooked to perfection & the workers are so nice and always give us extra heheh! PS plsss pls get their lamb, Wagyu, and beef skewers. I'm still thinking about how yummy she was! Very good but also not THE best skewers I've ever had. I will probably come back with friends if we're nearby the area :-)

Good vibes and great ambience at this modern late night Chinese eatery, featuring their signature skewers and other quick bites. Likely, most patrons come for their varied selection of beer and other alcohol. The late closing time allows for great flexibility in visiting, and I can easily see this place being a good pre-game venue for late night shenanigans.

I had this bookmarked for the longest time. The skewers caught my eye, however, I am not a fan of this place. My fiancé and I ordered pork belly and chicken thigh skewer. I assumed the wait wouldn't be long but it took a while. Pork belly: super dry! Their seasoning powder saved the day. Overall, so expensive for the quality you get. Our chicken thighs never made it. Our server gave it to the wrong table. Honestly, it was probably sign to not order it. $15 for four skewers.. I recommend saving your money and go elsewhere.

For the amount of food you get, the prices are utterly absurd. Might I also say the food quality was also way below average. If you want skewers just go to Little Skewers! Service was ok and we didn't have to wait too long for the food but boy were we astonished by the tiny scoops and skewers we got...very disappointing to say the absolute least. Chicken heart was smelly and got smellier when it turned cold because no one wanted to eat it. The green beans was the only solid dish. The Chongqing noodles were drenched in overflowing chili oil we thought it was soup. Talk about an artery clog to the max! But yea crazy experience because it was $70 for 8 skewers, a bowl of noodles, a small bowl of chopped up cold squid, and green beans. Save yourself and don't go here if you don't want to put a massive dent in your bank account !!

Chicken heart smells bad. Noodle and fried rice seasoning were weird... but the waitress told us it's fine and totally as usual.

Ask the Community - The Barn

Have they brought back outdoor dining yet (for COVID, flu, RSV etc precautions)?

I called to ask and they said they don't have outdoor seating right now (1/6/2023)

Are they doing dine in yet?

Yes, due to the pandemic, they're doing outside dining now. The seats are spread out and I feel safe eating here.

Any info on Happy Hour times and prices?

As of today 11/29, only the draft beers are 3.95 for 16 oz. Sake special going on 20% off ! Too bad no food specials.

I am not usually the biggest fan of bbq(a lot of bbq sauces aren't it for me)... but I LOVE Jake's, the secret is in the sauce!! It's sweet and tangy in the perfect way and ends up with a smoky flavor from when they cook it as well. I looooove the huge beef ribs here, and the chicken is pretty good too. I've also tried the baby back ribs, which my family loves but I'm more of a beef kinda gal. Haven't tried much else on the menu because I just love the beef ribs so much tbh. The fries and salad are good, some other sides kinda feel like an afterthought, but the sides aren't the highlight here. I like the "roadside" nostalgic vibe inside, and the staff are nice. Some of the staff have been there for a long time and know a lot of the customers. Overall, this is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood, and when Monrovia comes up in conversation, I always mention Jake's :)

We sat down then we look at the menu to see what to order everybody order on their own but my wife and I order BBQ combo it's come with a half a chicken,Tri Tip,two BBQ pork ribs, two BBQ beef ribs and two sides,we decided pick potato salad and mac n cheese to our meal. The atmosphere at Jake's Roadhouse is relaxing and a feeling see classic interior sign from the past that you can remember those doesn't exist anymore but enjoy walking to back in time. The waiter but out meal our BBQ combo meal to our table it looks scrumptious good. I cut a piece of the bbq chicken it was juicy, and tender and getting that smoke flavor in the chicken. And a bite of the Tri Tip it was tender and cover bbq sauce it good but it little bit too much of the bbq sauce but I enjoy it. The bbq pork ribs were very meaty they so good then bbq beef ribs they were meaty too with good flavor. The potato salad were very good full of flavors in the potato salad and mac n cheese was amazing cheesy good that I really enjoy. Meal come two muffins they very good. Everybody including ourselves enjoy the meal we were very happy and next try different items.

First off, I totally recommend the Canyon City Sampler if you can't decide what to get. It can easily feed 2-3 people (I'd say 3, but 2 if you both eat a lot). Here are my thoughts on the individual meats and sides: Pork Rib - WOW. It's so tender and fall-off-the-bone. Nice BBQ flavor and just so good. (5/5) BBQ Chicken - Tasty with a nice bite and tons of flavor. I added some extra BBQ sauce to make it even better. (4.5/5) Beef Brisket - Cooked really well with a great texture. Soft and easy to eat. (4.5/5) Pulled Pork - Very good, but my least favorite of the meats. A bit drier than the rest. (4/5) Cornbread - Tasty and served with flavored butter. It's not the moistest cornbread I've had, but it's still super good. Recommended! (4.5/5) Mash & Gravy - A classic done well. The gravy has a strong flavor and is made from the brisket drippings. Tasty. (4.5/5) This place is a total hidden gem tucked away in a random corner. They serve really good BBQ at what I'd consider a reasonable price. Parking - They have a small lot for 3-4 cars, but there's plenty of street parking.

Wow I honestly wasn't expecting such a small mom and pop shop to be probably my new favorite…read moreHawaiian spot, but here we are. TK Cafe has thoroughly impressed me off first impression, and if I was closer, I'd probably be a regular here. For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. If you're looking for a new Hawaiian spot, definitely check out TK Cafe. The proportions are huge and the taste is amazing. If I'm ever in Monrovia again, I'd definitely be stopping by!

All the familiar Hawaiian items are here, and then some. They offer A LOT of different dishes, including a whole bunch of dim sum. And their beverage menu is extensive as well, from your basic teas to milk tea boba and slushies. It's pretty impressive how these folks are able to squeeze all this food in this tiny little restaurant. Decided to go with the dish that everyone who has been to Hawaii has eaten at some point: the loco moco. I thought it might be a good way to gauge how authentic their food is. Ordered a side of Portuguese sausage musubi as well. Yeah, I'm a pig. Loco Moco - 5/10: so yeah. This definitely isn't your traditional loco moco, or at least the dish that I grew up eating (808 born and raised). Two patties, mounds of rice, eggs (unfortunately served over hard...should always be over easy so the yolk comes out) side mac salad - check, check, check and check. But then they bury on the bottom of this dish a bunch of stir-fried veggies, which threw me off a bit. This dish ain't supposed to be somewhat healthy. And then they throw a very light brown sauce on it that definitely isn't gravy. More like a brown sauce you'd mix in with pan-fried noodles. Yeah, just not the way this dish is supposed to made. But at least they give you a lot of it! - Portuguese Spam Musubi - 7.5/10: this one was much better. All the elements were there, and yes, they used Portuguese sausages. Hard to screw up musubi, but believe me, it can be done. Two pieces come in an order and they're on the larger side. So yeah, a little disappointed. I will say though that if I'm in the area again, I might order some dim sum. Happy feasting!
