I had been impatiently waiting for this location to open and it was absolutely worth the wait ! -The parking: I am no stranger to the Bar Method in Pasadena or West Hollywood and I sometimes find it nerve racking to find a spot, especially when I am running late. At this location, there is tons of free underground parking and in less than a minute I was parked and ready to go to my class, allowing me to feel serene and not stressed out when I walked in. -The facility: Clean, gorgeous and classy. I was particularly impressed by the locker room/bathroom, the wall above the sinks is made of tiles that are the color of the accent wall at the entrance and there is also rustic benches warming the space and making it cozy. One thing that I absolutely loved was the board the girls put up with notecards and pens were we can write our personal goal or something motivational. Both writing my goal down and reading what other people had written made me push myself even more when it was time for class ! -The class: I took the 8:30am class on a wednesday taught by one of the owner, Kat Adkins. It was absolutely amazing. The class was packed and challenging-but just the right amount. I tend to get frustrated easily but Kat had organized her class in a way that worked with my rather weak will. When I thought of giving up, Kat would immediately see it and say something that forced me to hang in there or we'd switch to a nice stretch,allowing me to renew my strength. She also knew everybody's name, -even the newbies'- and took the time to correct our position when needed, something I particularly appreciate since I tend to get hurt easily if I don't do an exercise properly. Alysia Moskolis -the other owner- asked about my experience in class when I was about to leave and seemed genuinely interested, a quality that I appreciate in this town :) So yes, I am sold and this is officially my new Bar Method location ! I love this place. The studio feels more like a spa than a workout studio. They are equipped with showers, towel service, lemon water, coffee, and lockers. The instructors are attentive and kind. They like to crack jokes from time to time keeping the workout upbeat. The sequence is pretty much the same as other barre studios, but with ample free parking and a spa like setting this is definitely one of my favorite places to get my barre on. read more

It's been more than a year, and yes, I'm still hooked. (I guess that's what an addiction entails.) They have now expanded their awesomeness to Sarah who kicks ass at making my legs sore and quiver, even after a year of this. So a year later, I can actually almost do the splits now, which was considered an impossibility in my uncoordinated life, and I have made quite a dent in my beer gut where there might actually be abs coming in place. I took a short break from Bar Method recently due to some traveling. I started to contemplate cancelling my account because it was getting difficult to make time for the classes with everything going on. However, before I made any decisions, I went back for one more class. Just like that, I was hooked.. AGAIN! I tried my first Bar Method Express class this morning at 6:30a and it kicked my butt (in a GREAT way!) - the class was originally supposed to be a regular class but after folks had work and the instructor asked if it was okay... we shortened it to 45 minutes. Let me tell you - Maria Vail is a superstar an absolute gem. She challenged our class and individually corrected our poses if they were done incorrectly - which was MUCH appreciated. She remembered everyone's names and I felt like she really wanted everyone to have the best workout. These classes aren't cheap and you want to feel like you are getting your money's worth. Three things: 1. My first "thing" is actually two: Kat and Alysia. You won't meet two more wonderful owners than these stellar ladies. They truly make Bar Method Studio City feel like a family; from day one they knew my name and ever since have made me feel like a welcome member of this (sweaty) community. As teachers they are beyond outstanding, and the tone they set for the studio as a whole is one of warmth and inspiration. 2. The comfort of the studio environment is beyond fantastic. Everything is pristine - the clean locker room, the bright workout space, the spa-esque lobby. So many exercise establishments feel daunting, impersonal, or snobbish; Bar Method Studio City is anything but. (It makes it ALMOST a pleasure to walk in for class...until you think about push ups.) 3. And speaking of push ups, the workouts are orchestrated with a precision and care that makes you keep coming back to these amazing instructors time and time again. Kat, Alysia, Caroline...they navigate you through the hour with a graceful pace that pushes and challenges you in all the right ways. They are obsessive (in a GOOD way!) about perfecting your form, and they truly transform an insanely difficult experience into something that I am SO proud to have accomplished at the end of every session I attend. I love love love The Bar Method! Over the past few years, I'd lost my motivation to consistently work out and I have an extra 20 pounds to show for it. Seeing how bummed I'd felt about being out of shape, my boyfriend signed me up for the 30 days unlimited as Christmas gift. Little did he know that after one class I would be hooked and his "gift" would turn into a monthly membership! I used to dance as a child so I was pretty familiar with most of the moves in class, and although they look easy, they definitely don't feel easy! The Bar Method mostly consists of repetition of moves and focuses on form which is how you will end up seeing results. I've gone consistently since mid-January and although I haven't weighed myself, I've seen a small difference in my physique and my clothes fit a little looser. I expect to see a significant difference in another 3 months or so. I love the instructors here, too. I usually take classes from Caroline and Kat - they are super funny and always remember my name and my progress. I love how they offer corrections during class to make sure you're always in perfect form. Also, free parking is a plus! My biggest pet peeve is to pay for parking and the shopping center where the studio is located has plenty of it! Don't hesitate to take a class here. My son was born at the end of January. The Bar Method has been perfect in helping me start to get back in shape and start to shed some of the baby weight. I feel so much stronger and toned than I did when I first started 6 weeks ago. Before the Bar Method, I hadn't worked out in over a year since I'd had such a tough pregnancy and was very sick through most of it. Needless to say, when I started the Bar my muscles were pretty much mush. I had no ab strength at all and zero flexibility. Now just 6 weeks later, I can hold a plank in multiple positions, my arms/legs/butt/abs feel stronger and tighter, and my flexibility has improved to the point where I can almost do the splits! Alysia and Kat, the co-owners are amazing and very encouraging instructors. Their workouts are always super challenging yet still fun (yes even through the pain... you learn to love the burn, Lol). The Bar Method has completely changed the way that I work out. The workout is low-impact and (mostly) sweat-free but still delivers a massive calorie burn. I can't recommend this studio highly enough. I had never done anything like this before and was a bit apprehensive about starting something that I felt could be quite intimidating. I couldn't have been more wrong. The instructors made me feel so welcome from my very first class and emphasized how it didn't matter what level of fitness I was. SO. Just wanted to UPDATE ... After recently celebrating their year anniversary the Bar Method in Studio City is still going strong if not stronger! With new instructor Courtney joining the family and turning up the perk (and the heat... she's tough! in the BEST WAY) and veteran instructor Alison taking over Sundays the BAR IS OPEN! And it also raised... lol Finally!! In Studio City the most amazing work out one could ever wish for!! The posh studio features a full service locker room complete with 2 showers, toiletries and magical little touches like hair dryer and flat iron (if you should be an early bird and have to get fabulous post class for your j o b)... All the bits you need for class are provided from a fresh water cooler with which to fill your bottle, towels, mats, weights and other props. In addition there is complementary coffee and tea for fuel ... before or after... There is also free parking that is quite plentiful below the building which is also *GASP* FREE!! Yes it is true that the classes are a wee bit on the $pricey$ side but the reason is this ... coming from a true enthusiast who uses her "woman of a certain age" body to compete with the likes of 20 year olds in the acting realm ... the instructors are highly trained to not only maximize your work out for the best results but also in the human anatomy so that they can adjust or modify you if you should have an injury or conversely ... so you shant gain one. NO GYM instructor is gonna do that for you! The owners and instructors Kat and Alysia are perky and sweet ... but will also kick your booty. And let's not forget the newest instructor Caroline who delivers all her sweet torture with an even sweeter smile! In closing. I'm addicted! I haven't worked out in a while due to money issues and my good friend brought me to a class here. I was able to get a month unlimited for $100!!!! I've been going regularly and can see a huge difference in my body. Cancer left me with little tone and muscle definition. Bar method is stealing it back for me. I became a Bar Method student in 2010 at the West Hollywood location, which I loved. I moved to the valley in 2013 and was so sad that I couldn't continue doing Bar. In 2014, this Studio City location opened and changed my life!! It's a beautiful and clean studio run by two of the very best, Alysia and Kat! That being said, ALL of the instructors (Alison, Caroline and Courtney) are amazing, you never have to worry about who is teaching because you know it will be a great class! The community is also great, everyone is devoted and encouraging. And the icing on the cake? They have the best retail section of any studio! Alysia has even special ordered items for me because I am so obsessed with work out clothes. I travel a lot for work, and I visit other studios because I love Bar Method, but I am always happiest when I am at my home studio, Bar Method Studio City. Thanks gals!!! read more

I had my first bar method class with Caroline, and it was such an amazing experience! She counts you through all the steps, suggests modifications for easier/harder positions, and walks around the room to make sure you are using the best form possible. It sounded like she knows many of the class members by name, and she calls out encouragements and modifications for each person throughout the class - such an attentive and awesome instructor! The class gets pretty full, but there was enough room by the mirrors/bars and on the floor. Class members are diverse - beginners to advanced, and a wide age range as well. The locker rooms, classroom, and equipment are all super clean. The exercise room is lightly air conditioned, lights dimmed during cool down, and the instructor turn on upbeat pop music during the class. Single classes are $25 and new customers get a special monthly deal. I'm definitely coming back and bringing all my girlfriends. Thanks Caroline! read more

To say that I felt like a fish out of water walking into my first class at The Bar Method Studio City would be an understatement. And to be honest, often times I still do. BUT!!!!!!!! From the moment you walk in until the moment you hobble out on your wobbly shaking legs, you are so very well taken care of by the staff and amazing instructors. Each instructor brings something different to the class they teach which removes any redundant feelings about coming time after time after time. The classes are always so challenging that I now accept and LOVE the fact that some body part will be quite sore the next day. And do not be mistaken. This is a FULL BODY WORKOUT. Head to toe.. Which is awesome. After suffering a life altering hip injury, I have struggled to find a workout that doesn't add any additional pain. Plus, the instructors are aware of my injury and always make the extra effort to make sure I'm not hurting during class, which is amazing personal attention you rarely find in a group exercise class environment. I am noticing wonderful changes in my body. My posture is improving drastically and with each passing class I am finding myself feeling stronger and more confident. Pants are feeling loser (YAY) and I am experiencing and overall tightness (the good kind) that feels pretty fantastic. My form requires corrections often, but that's ok.. Because with each correction comes better form. And with better form comes change. And change is what I want!! So... A shout out to Alysia and Kat (the amazing owners) and all the other instructors and staff at The Bar Method Studio City.. THANK YOU for all you do. Thank you for the challenges, the caring and warm environment, the patience, the a** whooping classes, the MOTIVATION to be better. I have found certain teachers at other locations to be dis genuine and a little obnoxious, so I was expecting similar vibes. Not the case. Kat and Alysia are super chill and down to earth people. I LOVE the Bar Method (Studio City) and am seriously hooked. Unfortunately I had to end my monthly membership, due to moving and work travel just not making sense, but this studio is one I will always come back to. Alysia and Kat make anyone feel welcomed. I am the type of person who gets really nervous going into workout programs and trying them by myself (super intimidating to me), but I felt right at home. You can tell the girls who've been going for awhile all know each other, but most of them welcome you and start talking to you right away. All of the instructors learn your name, and are there to HELP you, and help they do. I seriously felt like family and I had only been going a couple of months when I had to stop it.
