I found pilates studio city when I followed my favorite instructor Jana here from another studio. I immediately preferred this studio to the previous place I had been going to see her. The facilities were nicer without feeling overdone or trendy - a hard mix to find in Los Angeles where your choices are often between a studio that feels run down or somewhere so hyper-stylized I feel the need to dress up to exercise. This spot feels just right to me. I haven't worked with the other teachers here but given that she did her training at this studio, I'm confident they would all be solid. I definitely recommend checking it out. Even better, I had a billing issue that was partially my own blunder and they cleared it up ASAP, no questions asked, MONTHS later when I found it on my credit card statements. Most places would have kept my money or made me fight about it, but they didn't even bat an eye. So impressive. I feel that much working with them now. Disappointing experience. A lot of time and energy to no purpose; instructors scheduled then cancelled; others offered to speak, then don't follow thru; or call back, and didn't. We all are aware things have been very challenging coming back from Covid; a business hoping to recover gracefully should strive to be far more caring about what's going on for potential clients at this time- especially in the wellness sector. Small businesses are only as good as the professionals they hire or the management that oversees them; this one could strive to respect "the other side", and be more organized and responsible on follow thru with commitments / appointments. And - ownership appears to have no clue what's going on with potential clients and it's own management .... as a comment posted within minutes by this owner - whom I've never spoken to!- has me confused with yet another client they apparently reneged on... I never paid money (because they lack the bandwith to schedule!), and didn't even know about this small studio until a recommendation in June (one I have since addressed with the studio that recommended it). Again, this speaks to the lack of organization / communication. Thank you. read more

I had always been told since I was 20 I would need a knee replacement. Bad aligned knee But not after Pilates. I have been taking Pilates classes with Jerin for a couple of years now (mat levels 1 and 2). She is an outstanding teacher, with a deep understanding of Pilates. She always goes above and beyond to know her students and she constantly amazes me by the fine adjustments and techniques that she imparts in her classes ... which make a huge difference to me as I strive to improve and go deeper into my practice. If you're Yelping folks, get a pseudonym. Every time I write a review on here, I get a call from the owner. And for the not-so-good reviews, it's not the most pleasant call. After days of phone tag, I finally connected with Lora one of the owners of PSC. I'm not a complainer. I suck it up, or vote with my feet. But I laid it on the line. The studio, I told her is too crowded, so it's damn near impossible to sign up for the popular classes, get into a room sometimes, that the equipment is uneven, and I didn't like the first instructor. I'm not easily placated so the conversation was a lot of 'well I'm happy you like Pilates, your current instructor Carl (he is very good - but you can't always make a silk purse from a sow's ear), and we're very popular so you have to be flexible.' I am adding to my 5 star review to say how much I live Nalani's one hour stretch class. Virtually or in the studio, it doesn't matter. This class fixes my body every time. Whatever is stiff or aching, it is no longer stiff or aching after class. I'm older now and have arthritis and this class is like a magic bullet. Nalani is truly gifted at stretching your whole body out and she does different stretches all the time so it never gets boring. She's funny and engaging. Do yourself a favor and take this stretch class! read more

I've been coming to Pilates Studio City faithfully over the last couple of months and I am still in love with this place. Every class I have taken I have enjoyed, in fact I wish I had more time during the day to come in to take more classes. Both the reformer classes and mat classes are plentiful over their 3 locations. Every instructor I've had I have liked (in various ways of course). It seems like all of them are knowledgeable in different ways that I can appreciate. So if for some reason you really don't like one particular instructor, there is no way that you cannot find another one that you do like with all the classes available. I feel like it would be impossible to be disappointed at this studio as the experience and pilates is really what you want to put into it. PSC has also been more than reasonable about the 24 hr cancellation policy. I've had to late-cancel two appointments because of a car accident and they were very nice about it. Didn't lecture or fuss over the small details but allowed me to reschedule with no additional charge. It made me appreciate them so much more! I have tried out other pilates studios in the area, but PSC remains my favorite. The prices are reasonable and I find myself coming here at least 3-4 weeks. LOVE it! read more

I cannot tell you how much this studio has CHANGED my life! I have scoliosis (back curvature) and now, after being with the studio for a year, my WHOLE body has changed. Studio City is a clean facility with great staff and faculty. I RELIGIOUSLY take privates from Natalie Garay. She is amazing. She is always in tune with my body and consistently challenges me in my sessions. My back is better, I feel much leaner, and feel as though I've gained a inch in height ;-) The group classes are great too. I personally prefer working the within the group reformer classes. It's a great Pilates environment where both beginners and more advance students can be in the same room and get great work outs. I also love that they have fundamental classes for beginners. Trust me, I took my share of those so I could have the confidence to walk into their regular classes. Each instructor was great at creating a safe environment for me to work in and feel confident in. I just signed up month ago, so I'm a beginner. I really like taking classes with Nancey. I could tell she definitely knows her stuff. I think I got more out of taking group sessions with her than taking private sessions with other instructors. I like the studio city space more than the annext one, but they are both clean and well kept...overall I think it's a good experience! read more

I LOVE Pilates Studio City. I've been training with Marcy since November 2008. My mother thinks I've grown because I stand up straight now and I give PSC all the credit. The Private sessions are MUCH more reasonable than any other Pilates studio I've looked into (especially in Santa Monica/Westwood Areas), as long as you buy in bulk. I always feel challenged during my sessions (and almost pass out, but that's normal for me). The Mat Pilates classes are all great. I haven't taken any classes where I felt understimulated, but the workout you get from a private session really can't compare. I think Yaffa's Mat classes are especially challenging. I remember struggling merely 10 minutes into the class. I don't think classes are difficult to get into as long as you sign up the day before. 24 hour cancellation period is enforced, however! read more

I've taken a few pilates classes at other studios where I almost passed out so I was expecting this mat pilates class to kick my butt. Well I barely broke a sweat. It's possible that the equipment gives you more resistance training but the mat pilates should at least be a moderate to advanced type of yoga. I've taken beginner yoga classes that felt more challenging. Maybe this is more for, how should I say, older folks? Again, I'm willing to give it another try. read more

I signed up for their Intro series earlier this year and found out 2 sessions in that I was pregs with my first kid. With my docs okay, I decided to continue with private sessions with Nancey. She is great! I'm now in my 32 week of my pregnancy and everything has been great. She's helped me strengthen my back, arms, legs and core, stretch, and focus on those kegel exercises--an essential exercise for women, especially those "expecting." She's also tailored the exercises to my changing capabilities week after week, propping me up with pillows and not restricting me to the reformers by incorporating other Pilates machines/contraptions to suit my needs. As for the studio itself, the team is very professional. I love the emails I receive that confirm appointments and cancellations. The facility is clean and the equipment up to date. They just opened another location in Valley Village called Pilates Studio City Annex. It's a smaller space that was recently renovated and will offer spa (facial and massage) services. If you're looking to get fit, burn fat and get longer and leaner without bulking up, I highly recommend Pilates Studio City. It's certainly and investment financially, but well worth it. For the most part, I've been able to eat what I want while pregnant, but I haven't gained any excess weight. I'm all baby bump thanks to PSC and Nancey! read more

Pilates Studio City is great. Pilates Studio City has variety of equipment for your needs. Pilates Studio City also has a Gyrotonic wing. If you have not experience Gyrotonic I highly recommend it. This is my first time taking private sessions for Pilates and I am totally impressed. My instructor is Marcy and she is really friendly, nice, helpful and excellent at showing me the basics. We are on the reformer and after every session I feel a lot more toned and sore from when I came in. I booked the intro session which is 4 privates and 1 mat class for $250. Not bad!!!!! I LOVE PSC! Yes, it is one of the very best Pilates studios in Los Angeles, and probably the country as well. Every trainer I have worked with there has been fabulous. They are all very knowledgeable and just genuinely lovely people with really good energy. The parking lot can be a little tricky at times, but there are ample spots available on the street. I have taken mostly private reformer sessions there over the past couple of years, but I have taken a couple group classes as well. I love them all. This was my first foray into Pilates, and I'd say I had a very good experience. I went to the Annex location. I took a handful of private reformer sessions with Elaine (I'm pretty sure it was Elaine!). Liked her and thought the sessions were pretty great. I ended up only taking one mat class. It was a Yoga class with a substitute instructor that day- It was a dude and I don't recall his name. It was an *extremely* beginner yoga class. In fact, I wished I had stayed home that day and just stretched and breathed on my own. Maybe I just picked the wrong class, or maybe because it was a sub - it was just an off day. Don't know. In any case, overall I do recommend this studio. Every time I went there it was pretty spacious (not overcrowded at all) and everyone was friendly and helpful! read more

After searching online and asking people for a good pilates place in the valley, I didn't have any place that really stood out, everyone had a different place to recommend. I randomly saw this place as I was driving on Riverside Drive, and seeing an old school sign placed standing on the sidewalk. I spend some days in the valley and was looking for a place and I'm so glad that I signed up for the intro series. Staff: Genuine, nice, compassionate, and professional. You can tell that they have a lot of passion for what they do. I had no idea what Gyrotonic was until I came to this place. I started with an intro series for privates with Pilates and they introduced me to Gyrotonic due to my condition and injuries they thought it would be helpful...and they were so right! Price: Competitive. And they seem to have always some kind of monthly special or promotion going on which I always take advantage of. . Do I continue to practice here: Heck yes! 3 years and counting. And this combined with some chiropractic work I have had a significant increase of movement in my hip. I have had a dramatic decrease in pain. Pilates and Gyrotonic are heaven sent and go so well with my chiropractic work I have done. All these things combined have me being a big believer that it has helped me to a better path in my life in terms of consciousness of what health is, what wellness is, what living an optimal life is. I LOVE this place. They are firmly rooted in the true foundation of Pilates. The instructors are awesome, friendly, welcoming, clear and extremely helpful. The classes (even mat) are small; so, they really feel like semi-private sessions. Instructors are careful to monitor and (gently) correct each student; so, everyone gets the most out of his/her experience. The studio is clean and bright and has a very zen feel. You work hard, and you will leave sweating and sore (in the right kind of way), but you will feel energized and refreshed (not worn down and exhausted) after your session. The class prices are as good, if not better, than other studios. The private sessions, however, are pretty expensive if you buy them individually. Bundle packages are definitely the way to go. This place isn't exactly far for me, but there are at least two Pilates studios that are closer (even walking distance). I pass them and drive right on to Pilates Studio City and am always glad I did. read more

Since the first stay at home orders back in March, I've been trying to get outdoors as much as possible walking around my neighborhood. Currently, the air quality is so bad, I haven't been able to get outside in five days. I just finished my first virtual class with Nalani. I came here with a Living Social deal and I really like the atmosphere. I tried Mat Pilates, Zumba, Springboard, and Fusion Classes. They make you start with beginner Mat classes and have the teacher approve you to move up, which is lame because beginner level was craaazy easy, but the teacher approved me to move up right after. The Zumba is really fun and laid back. It was good for my first introduction to Zumba! Springboard was challening, and Fusion was also a good workout. They have two locations so it makes their schedule pretty open. And I thought it was super cool that they are doing this special where each week a different class is free. A really nice way to try new things! Overall, really nice friendly atmosphere and good teachers. Also both the Studio City and Annex location have parking available, yay! read more

I finally had a chance to try the Da Vinci Body Board class this week and it was awesome! Its a continuous steady workout that keeps your heart rate in steady fat burning mode while also toning using bands. I loved that there were no weights involved... prevents any chance of bulking up! Also, its a 30 minute class, so you never check the clock or let your mind wander. Its in and out but counts as a cardio and strength building workout. RAD! read more

This place ROCKS!!!! Pilates is so stinking expensive, but this place has it set up to be able to get good instruction at affordable prices if you don't mind taking with other like minded folks. Good clean place, and great instructors. They also have excellent privates and semi privates. Easy to access on line schedules, and you can pay on line and make class reservations as well. They limit class sizes so it is never over crowded. They offer an excellent intro series to help new clients get acclimated. Do something good for your body, you won't regret it!! read more

I really liked this place. I had been going here for over a year and Sue is a great instructor. My body has changed so much over the year where many people are noticing. The problem is the parking and also being over-crowded at times since their facility on Laurel Canyon closed down. The building on Riverside though has major parking issues. Many of the spaces are becoming "reserved" and I take the private sessions where I have to park down the street at times when there is a mat class. I use to go on Saturdays and I stopped now since the studio is crowded (due to popularity which is good for the studio) but, I have an extremely stressful job and I like my sessions to be stress-free and quiet. I was working out in a room where people were coming out of the side workout rooms and are standing and talking in my room which was next to the exit door. I really like the studio though and the trainers are very good, I just wish they would relocate to a building where there is unlimited parking and more studio space and multiple bathrooms would be a plus too. There was a time when I was going there daily between personal training and group reformers. I had to cut back cause I just can't tolerate the parking. The building management is starting to charge for parking as well. If I had a business there, I would move it to another place even though there is street parking, who wants to park down the street at night? Alex the receptioinist is great. If you do decide that this is the place for you, I highly recommend Sue as she is personable and has really helped me transform my body and I know she could help you too. If she isn't available, the other trainers as really good as well. read more

It had been awhile since I had done Pilates but wanted to try it again. I workout 5-6 days a week so it was important to me that the workout felt challenging so I was concerned about finding the right instructor. I have been doing private lessons now for almost seven weeks with Amy and Melody -- and it has been fantastic! The rooms are clean and I feel like it is just the right kind of workout to change things up. The instructions are clear and the pricing is also reasonable. I am a Chiropractor in North Hollywood. Marcy (McCusker) is an excellent Pilates instructor! My patients have gotten stronger and more flexible without getting injured under her training. It makes a huge difference that Marcy is also a professional dancer as she has an innate understanding of the body's proper movement that simply cannot be taught in an instructor training class.
