I later found out that he had lived in the UK for about 10, reason for the accent I guess. Now onto the food. I ordered a few appetizers to begin with. I order chicken somosa, fish tikka, and a kebab (which the host gave us complimentary). Not one thing didn't take good, so much so I ordered somosa's to go. From there my main course came. I had butter chicken with rice, boy was it good. I've had Indian food many times before but this one was on a whole other level. The chicken was tender and full of flavor and the rice was super fluffy. All in all great, and the next time I want Indian food here in the UK this will be my go too.

Today, I discovered that they have been charging a service charge on my receipts, despite the fact that this is illegal for restaurants and hotels. When I brought this up with the staff, they became defensive and thought that I was arguing with them. However, the receipt clearly states that the service charge is optional, which suggests that the restaurant is engaging in some illegal activity intentionally. I would advise anyone considering dining at this restaurant to check their receipts carefully and be wary of any additional charges.

Everything was DELICIOUS! The daal was fantastic. But man oh man was the Chicken Ruby addicting! While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. This restaurant was right near Watling street where we pub hopped in the shadow of St. Paul's cathedral. London is magical and Brigadier's is part of that magic.

The food was exceptional -- aroma, flavors, spice levels, portions; everything was perfect. While visiting London, a local friend invited me to Dishoom, knowing how much I love Indian cuisine. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 5PM, and the place was already packed. They don't take reservations for dinner unless you're a large group, but trust me, the wait is worth it. They have a fantastic bar where you can grab drinks while you wait for a table (they give you buzzers). We ordered the gunpowder potatoes (incredible), an appetizer with potatoes and pineapple (not my favorite; the pineapple threw me off), monkfish curry (amazing), and chicken curry. It was a lot of food for just two of us, but I couldn't stop eating. I seriously wanted to bottle up that sauce! The service was surprisingly impeccable, especially considering how busy they were. We ended up spending about £110 for an incredible dinner, and we nearly couldn't finish everything. Lastly, the ambiance! Inspired by Iranian cafes in India, the atmosphere at Dishoom is eclectic. I loved the dim lighting, unique decor, and the lively pace of the restaurant. Just go!
