Good spot to chill by the water after a long day at the beach. They have a number of different seating options outside. Food prices are in the $20-$40 range. We got the classic fish and chips and the grilled swordfish. The fish and chips were quite good. The fish was lightly battered and fried just right. Service was very good. Overall it was a good experience though a bit pricey. Parking is somewhat limited.

One of the best restaurants on the Farm Coast. The chowder is terrific and excellent fish and chips. It is always busy during the summer, but the outside bar on the dock is a great place to grab a beverage while you wait for a table.

I was introduced to The Back Eddy 20 years ago and I have never been disappointed. Located on the water with nice views from the dining room. The food was the star. Was able to sample about 1/2 the offerings, all were fabulous. Service was outstanding too.

The current winner (at time of picture) of the fishing tournament Back Eddy's. I forgot to take photos of our meals. Opps

Let's start off with the facts. Anyone who has anything negative to say about WSF is a clown. Yes…read moreharsh. But they clearly know little to nothing about oysters. More facts, this is a sea farm. They grow and harvest their oysters within a stones throw. Coming in by boat you see all of the cages. You cannot get a fresher oyster. Since they are a farm they can harvest smaller oysters that you and I cannot with our shellfish license. They a perfect delectible size. Great flavor and may I say even better than ICO, with the exception of their Aunt Dotty. Cold lobster is exceptional as well. If you like you're buttered and hot, you can get that to, but I can escort out of the premises and point you north to Maine where you can join the tourists. Yes it's expensive. This is not buck a shuck. But you're eating oysters which are no longer peasant food. So yes you want cheap oysters or wish to shuck them yourself, go to Market Basket and stop complaining. Cheap & seafood do not go together. Never experienced anything but kind service from the staff. Those complaining about rude service may want to look in the mirror cause you're likely an ahole. Only downside is their seasonal operation. Would be great to go there during the off season when the tourist are long gone, but it's likely not financially feasible.

We love the relaxed picnic-table seating right on the water, the fresh and reasonably priced seafood, and the full bar, which got a fantastic upgrade this summer with slushy machines for margaritas and other delicious drinks! With several kids under 10, it's hard to beat this spot. It strikes that rare balance of being laid-back and family-friendly without compromising quality. Boaters can pull up to the dock, or you can easily drive in. The lobster roll and clam chowder were standouts -- classic New England staples, executed perfectly. It's a fun, authentic spot with real local charm, filling a much-needed niche in the area. If you're looking for something more formal, The Back Eddy across the water is excellent -- but Westport Sea Farms delivers a unique, breezy vibe that's all its own. One small suggestion: peak summer days can feel a bit hectic. A dedicated hostess could help keep things running smoothly -- we felt bad for the one woman managing both the host stand and takeout orders. That said, it didn't take away from our experience in the slightest -- just a small note that could make a great place even better. We're already looking forward to our next visit -- this place is a gem!

Review for The Bayside Restaurant - Westport, MA Sand, suds,…read moreand that sweet, sweet lobstah! Anytime I find myself in Dartmouth, there's one non-negotiable: a pilgrimage to The Bayside. It's not just a restaurant--it's a seaside ritual. A full-on coastal vibe check. By day, this place hums with a tide of locals and sun-kissed visitors, all riding that same salty wavelength. The outside seating? Chef's kiss. Whether you're perched at the surfboard table (yes, really), chilling by the firepit, or posted up at the outdoor bar chillin' in the shade or soaking in the rays (depending on time of day), it always feels like a low-key beach party. Add in that Scooby-Doo-style van hawking t-shirts and tank tops and you've got yourself a beach fiesta postcard . Drink-wise, they're reppin' the South Coast with a rotating lineup of New England brews and a cocktail menu that says "kick off those flip flops and stay a while." The chowder? Clam or seafood--either one is a pregame MVP. Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with sea-kissed goodness. But the main event? That lobstah roll. Oh baby. Warm. Nekked. Buttered. No mayo nonsense (that's how I roll). Just pure, buttery shellfish glory piled high in a toasted split-top roll. Served with fries that actually hold their own--crispy, salty, and impossible to stop picking at even after you "swear you're full." Service stays solid despite the crowd--friendly, laid-back, and on point with the refills and check-ins. They know what they're doing, even when the patio's packed and the orders are flying. The Bayside is a beach town legend. Come for the lobstah roll, stay for the surfboard tables, the sun-soaked vibes, and the kind of carefree energy that makes you wish you lived on a boat. (Or one of them campers along the coast)

We sat outside and enjoyed the cool evening and sunset. We heard a rumor that the Bayside has the best lobster roll, so that is what I ordered and it did NOT disappoint! I could barely locate the bun underneath all of the lobster. There may have been two lobster's worth of lobster in this lobster roll! Seriously! And the lobster was cooked perfectly; tender, melt in your mouth! I do not recall anything about the service, the drinks or what other people ordered but I remember every last taste of that lobster roll! Well done!

It opened at 11:30 so we arrived close to that time, with no reservation. The decor was beautiful and with a fresh nautical feel. We were greeted warmly when we walked in the door and seated right away by the window with a view of the harbor and boats. Our waitress came over right away and gave us our menus - three of them. One was a regular menu, one was lunch specials, and I think the other one was for Chef's selections. I ordered the Chicken Carbonara on the lunch menu and it was amazing! The portion was just enough and was very flavorful and fresh. My friends had chicken Caesar salad and a mixed bowl (not sure about this one). I didn't take pics of our food because we all just dove right in, but I DID take a picture of our dessert. OMG it was bread pudding with fresh whipped cream and ice cream - soooo good!! The place filled up pretty quickly by the time we left it was full. The prices were reasonable and the wine was just fine! I wish I could remember the waitresses name to give her a shout out because she was a doll! Can't wait to visit again!

Having worked in the industry - I am always one to give the benefit of the doubt to servers. But this one was just disappointing. Never asked if we wanted another cocktail or checked in to see if we needed anything. Abruptly dropped the check after one drink and our entrees when we were planning to get dessert cocktails. Our grandmother wanted to stay and chat so it was confusing why she wouldn't have wanted to increase her revenue for the night. It otherwise would have been an excellent experience. Food and atmosphere 5 stars. Service - 2.

It definitely has the little clam shack vibes that makes the experience feel even more authentic. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered a clam chowder cup and a hot lobster roll. And they didn't skimp out on the meat too ! The lobster roll was filled to the brim and so delicious. The clam chowder was also incredible. I also love that they have a little market in case you want to make any of their seafood at home ! Will definitely become a staple when I come back to visit my parents.

My wife's fried fish was perfectly cooked and complemented by wonderful-tasting onion rings. You absolutely *must* try their Lobster Rolls - they're a signature dish for a reason! Located right on the pier by the big boats, this spot offers not just great food but also a palpable connection to New Bedford's rich maritime past, a city that once stood as the whaling capital of the world. The atmosphere here is an absolute highlight, earning a perfect 10/10 with its fun red-checkered floors and red tables, big yellow umbrellas, and the energetic bustle of the working waterfront.
