Good spot to chill by the water after a long day at the beach. They have a number of different seating options outside. Food prices are in the $20-$40 range. We got the classic fish and chips and the grilled swordfish. The fish and chips were quite good. The fish was lightly battered and fried just right. Service was very good. Overall it was a good experience though a bit pricey. Parking is somewhat limited.

One of the best restaurants on the Farm Coast. The chowder is terrific and excellent fish and chips. It is always busy during the summer, but the outside bar on the dock is a great place to grab a beverage while you wait for a table.

I was introduced to The Back Eddy 20 years ago and I have never been disappointed. Located on the water with nice views from the dining room. The food was the star. Was able to sample about 1/2 the offerings, all were fabulous. Service was outstanding too.

The current winner (at time of picture) of the fishing tournament Back Eddy's. I forgot to take photos of our meals. Opps

More facts, this is a sea farm. They grow and harvest their oysters within a stones throw. Coming in by boat you see all of the cages. You cannot get a fresher oyster. Since they are a farm they can harvest smaller oysters that you and I cannot with our shellfish license. They a perfect delectible size. Great flavor and may I say even better than ICO, with the exception of their Aunt Dotty. Cold lobster is exceptional as well. If you like you're buttered and hot, you can get that to, but I can escort out of the premises and point you north to Maine where you can join the tourists. Yes it's expensive. This is not buck a shuck. But you're eating oysters which are no longer peasant food. So yes you want cheap oysters or wish to shuck them yourself, go to Market Basket and stop complaining. Cheap & seafood do not go together. Never experienced anything but kind service from the staff. Those complaining about rude service may want to look in the mirror cause you're likely an ahole. Only downside is their seasonal operation. Would be great to go there during the off season when the tourist are long gone, but it's likely not financially feasible.

We love the relaxed picnic-table seating right on the water, the fresh and reasonably priced seafood, and the full bar, which got a fantastic upgrade this summer with slushy machines for margaritas and other delicious drinks! With several kids under 10, it's hard to beat this spot. It strikes that rare balance of being laid-back and family-friendly without compromising quality. Boaters can pull up to the dock, or you can easily drive in. The lobster roll and clam chowder were standouts -- classic New England staples, executed perfectly. It's a fun, authentic spot with real local charm, filling a much-needed niche in the area. If you're looking for something more formal, The Back Eddy across the water is excellent -- but Westport Sea Farms delivers a unique, breezy vibe that's all its own. One small suggestion: peak summer days can feel a bit hectic. A dedicated hostess could help keep things running smoothly -- we felt bad for the one woman managing both the host stand and takeout orders. That said, it didn't take away from our experience in the slightest -- just a small note that could make a great place even better. We're already looking forward to our next visit -- this place is a gem!

Review for The Bayside Restaurant - Westport, MA Sand, suds,…read moreand that sweet, sweet lobstah! Anytime I find myself in Dartmouth, there's one non-negotiable: a pilgrimage to The Bayside. It's not just a restaurant--it's a seaside ritual. A full-on coastal vibe check. By day, this place hums with a tide of locals and sun-kissed visitors, all riding that same salty wavelength. The outside seating? Chef's kiss. Whether you're perched at the surfboard table (yes, really), chilling by the firepit, or posted up at the outdoor bar chillin' in the shade or soaking in the rays (depending on time of day), it always feels like a low-key beach party. Add in that Scooby-Doo-style van hawking t-shirts and tank tops and you've got yourself a beach fiesta postcard . Drink-wise, they're reppin' the South Coast with a rotating lineup of New England brews and a cocktail menu that says "kick off those flip flops and stay a while." The chowder? Clam or seafood--either one is a pregame MVP. Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with sea-kissed goodness. But the main event? That lobstah roll. Oh baby. Warm. Nekked. Buttered. No mayo nonsense (that's how I roll). Just pure, buttery shellfish glory piled high in a toasted split-top roll. Served with fries that actually hold their own--crispy, salty, and impossible to stop picking at even after you "swear you're full." Service stays solid despite the crowd--friendly, laid-back, and on point with the refills and check-ins. They know what they're doing, even when the patio's packed and the orders are flying. The Bayside is a beach town legend. Come for the lobstah roll, stay for the surfboard tables, the sun-soaked vibes, and the kind of carefree energy that makes you wish you lived on a boat. It opened at 11:30 so we arrived close to that time, with no reservation. The decor was beautiful and with a fresh nautical feel. We were greeted warmly when we walked in the door and seated right away by the window with a view of the harbor and boats. Our waitress came over right away and gave us our menus - three of them. One was a regular menu, one was lunch specials, and I think the other one was for Chef's selections. I ordered the Chicken Carbonara on the lunch menu and it was amazing! The portion was just enough and was very flavorful and fresh. My friends had chicken Caesar salad and a mixed bowl (not sure about this one). I didn't take pics of our food because we all just dove right in, but I DID take a picture of our dessert. OMG it was bread pudding with fresh whipped cream and ice cream - soooo good!! Review for The Sail Loft - Padanaram, MA…read more If you find yourself in Padanaram (a.k.a. the South Dartmouth secret locals don't really want you to know about), and you skip The Sail Loft? Rookie mistake. This place is the salty soul of Buzzards Bay. Perched right by the marina, it's where boat shoes meet bar stools. You'll see folks who just stepped off a sailboat rubbing elbows with couples dressed for a night in the village. No dress code. No pretension. Just pure coastal New England charm and a vibe that's always buzzing. The inside is lively, the outdoor patio catches that perfect sea breeze, and the bar? It's the heartbeat of the joint. We didn't have a reservation (whoops), and the place was packed--but the bar area saved the day. We snagged a high top by the window just as the line started snaking out the door. The bartenders? Total pros. Fast, friendly, and somehow everywhere at once, without making you feel like an afterthought. Gold star. We kicked off with a round of Apple Martinis--sweet, strong, and not here to mess around. Then came the chowder: a bowl of creamy, clammy goodness, thick enough to stand a spoon in. Potatoes, herbs, and enough richness to warm you from the inside out--June evenings by the bay aren't always balmy. But the star of the show? That lobster roll. Two options: cold and classic, or warm and buttery. We went warm--because why wouldn't you want your lobster swimming in butter? Nestled in a toasted sourdough roll and served with coleslaw and fries. And not just one or the other--both. Apparently, the kitchen was feeling generous, and we weren't about to say no. The fries were crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. The slaw? Creamy, crunchy, and perfectly chilled. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Sail Loft is the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer, order another drink, and pretend the boat docked outside is yours.

After speaking to several restaurant owners (not associated with this establishment) I decided to provide my feedback. On Tuesday, 11/11/25, I ate at this establishment with two friends. The first thing I noted was the high prices for mixed drinks, in particular the apple fall spritz for $17, which I found outrageous. We ordered apps- hall of fame chowder, clam chowder and a cucumber app and several martinis. Let me start by saying that the service from our waitress was phenomenal, which is not always the case. I believe her name was Nancy and she was extremely attentive. I had gotten about half way through my Hall of fame chowder when I pulled a shard of glass from my mouth, after taking a bite. I checked my martini glass and there were no chips or missing glass so I knew that it came from the bite of chowder I had just taken. I politely informed my waitress who was overly apologetic and she notified the manager who approached the table a couple minutes later. He did apologize but managed to downplay the situation, almost acting as though it was not the restaurants fault. He informed me that they removed the soup and 1 martini from my bill, which I thanked him for. As we were leaving, I tried to say goodbye to the manger but he WOULD NOT make eye contact with me. I cannot recall if he did actually say goodbye but I had made eye contact with him as we were walking toward the front so he was aware that we were leaving. For me, it wasn't about what they could do for me- removing items from the bill or providing a gift card etc., it was the managers response to the entire situation that truly disappointed me. Overall, I find most of the menu and drinks to be overpriced. The location and restaurant itself is beautiful but the service in general is inconsistent (though my waitress on this day was by far the best I have had in the 15-20 times I have been). I can only hope that they did not continue to serve that batch of their hall of fame chowder to other patrons. Due to the managers lack of concern and overall disposition I would not return to this restaurant. The sign of a great restaurant, is having staff that are not only concerned with their customers satisfaction but most importantly, taking pride in the quality of the products they are serving. This particular incident could have ended tragically and the lack of concern was deeply troubling.
