The version we had was more like shredded beef and a bit dry. True barbacoa is rich, tender, and full of flavor, so I know this dish could be even better with a few tweaks. Also offer a fish taco. The shrimp tacos are good, but everyone knows there's no New England shrimp. Or at least have a fish and chips option. There's plenty of cod and haddock. Heck a fish sandwich would suffice. That said, one menu item certainly won't keep us away. Noman's has created something special--a place where families gather, friends reconnect, visitors feel like locals, and summer memories are made. The Hen of the Woods appetizer was dry, brittle, and nearly flavorless -- more like straw than a thoughtfully prepared dish. Without the green peppercorns and Dijon mustard I happened to have with me, it would have been inedible. The Duck Confit was similarly disappointing: overcooked, dry, and again nearly impossible to enjoy without the condiments I brought. Service issues added to the frustration. The red Burgundy wine I ordered didn't arrive until nearly dessert, even after I asked another server to remind my server to bring it. Dessert came with only half a cup of decaf coffee and no cream, despite my request. Overall, I felt ignored rather than cared for. What should have been a highlight of my vacation became one of its lowest points.
