Seafood Chowdah
Ryan B.

Review for The Bayside Restaurant - Westport, MA Sand, suds, and that sweet, sweet lobstah! Anytime I find myself in Dartmouth, there's one non-negotiable: a pilgrimage to The Bayside. It's not just a restaurant--it's a seaside ritual. A full-on coastal vibe check. By day, this place hums with a tide of locals and sun-kissed visitors, all riding that same salty wavelength. The outside seating? Chef's kiss. Whether you're perched at the surfboard table (yes, really), chilling by the firepit, or posted up at the outdoor bar chillin' in the shade or soaking in the rays (depending on time of day), it always feels like a low-key beach party. Add in that Scooby-Doo-style van hawking t-shirts and tank tops and you've got yourself a beach fiesta postcard . Drink-wise, they're reppin' the South Coast with a rotating lineup of New England brews and a cocktail menu that says "kick off those flip flops and stay a while." The chowder? Clam or seafood--either one is a pregame MVP. Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with sea-kissed goodness. But the main event? That lobstah roll. Oh baby. Warm. Nekked. Buttered. No mayo nonsense (that's how I roll). Just pure, buttery shellfish glory piled high in a toasted split-top roll. Served with fries that actually hold their own--crispy, salty, and impossible to stop picking at even after you "swear you're full." Service stays solid despite the crowd--friendly, laid-back, and on point with the refills and check-ins. They know what they're doing, even when the patio's packed and the orders are flying. The Bayside is a beach town legend. Come for the lobstah roll, stay for the surfboard tables, the sun-soaked vibes, and the kind of carefree energy that makes you wish you lived on a boat. (Or one of them campers along the coast)

Love this place. It's a low brow upscale shanty serving up great meals and awesome service!

Quahog Chowder

Beach Day in Westport, we ended up for Dinner at The Bayside Restaurant in Westport, we both started with Quahog Chowder, one of best ones I've had, then our Mains were: she got Coconut Shrimp and I got the Fish Tacos with Coleslaw, everything was excellent and great Service, love it there after a great day at The Beach with Friends

Found this place, strictly by chance, back in 2018. The lobster rolls and seafood chowder I've gotten over the years were GREAT. Was there this past week, with my wife. Lobster roll was good but smaller than the photographs I took in years prior. Wife did not enjoy her baked scrod. The seafood chowder and quahog chowder were on point, as usual. Lost a star because their restrooms were out of service and the only had portable toilets in the rear of the establishment. Service was good, server replaced my wife's cold french fries instantly. Props for using hand-cut fries - a lot of places don't. Unfortunately, due to my wife's experience (I won't get into it), we probably won't be back.

Love coming to Bayside! This was our second time here and it never disappoints! Claims are generous size and portion! Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere! We would go more often if we lived closer. It truly is a little gem of a place just minutes from the beach.

Crab roll

Nice quiet location in Westport with inside and outside seating. Perfect evening on summer solstice! I had the Maple Medley which consisted of sugar cane skewered shrimp and NB sea scallops pan seared with house made maple $sesame glaze over wild rice with asparagus. Absolutely delicious - the best scallops I've had in a very long time. They actually tasted like scallops! The shrimp were also very good. My dining part got the gazpacho which was very refreshing and the fresh crab roll. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Delicious!!! Maple Medley - Skewered Shrimp and New Brunswick Sea Scallops

Yes! Go to this restaurant! I had a fabulous Sunday summer dinner at The Bayside last night. My brain slowed down into what I felt was such a wonderful "don't worry be happy" type of atmosphere. We were sitting in a comfortable covered outdoor dining area and thankfully our waitress did not rush us even one bit. Although not planning on a cocktail, the Bayside Rum Punch was calling me and I'm so glad it did. Super delish! I was actually very hungry so I knew I'd appreciate any meal but ordered up and went for the Maple Medley - "Sugar Cane Skewered Shrimp and New Brunswick Sea Scallops - lightly chili dusted and pan seared with house maple- sesame glaze over wild rice and asparagus". It's now a new favorite and I hope I can get back there soon to have it again.

Codfish Cakes with corn bread and beans

Fantastic seafood, gorgeous view of the Allen's Pond refuge. Generous portions and friendly, prompt service.

Casual, charming, and full of personality, it's the kind of place that makes a summer evening in Massachusetts feel especially memorable.

Review for The Back Eddy - Westport, MA…read more Rolled in on a Monday evening, solo at first because my other half was running fashionably late (emphasis on the fashionably). I asked the hostess if I could still snag a table for two, even though I was flying solo for the moment, and she smiled and said, "No problem." Honestly? Bless her. Some places treat you like you're trying to pull off a bank heist if your full party isn't present. The vibe? Laid-back coastal cool with just enough buzz to feel alive without needing to shout over the table. The kitchen's wide open, so you can watch the culinary chaos--or genius--unfold. And that view? Pure postcard. Boats gently bobbing in the bay, sun dipping low like it's trying to flirt with the horizon. You will feel like you're in a Nicholas Sparks novel--but with better food. While I waited, they brought me a tiny bowl of house-made pickles. Tiny bowl, big flavor. Thick-cut, briny, just the right amount of pucker. I sipped on a Buzzards Bay Local Flounder--golden, smooth, and perfect for a summer evening. Then I got bold and ordered the "Deviled Eggs from Hell." And By the power of Greyskull and questionable life choices, they did not disappoint! Light, flaky, spicy little flavor bombs. If Hell is serving these, hand me a pitchfork. Once my date arrived (cue applause), we dove into small plates like it was our job. The Maine mussels? Drenched in hoisin, coconut milk, and spice--like Thai street food met a Cape Cod fisherman and made magic. Bonus points for the thick-cut toasted bread they serve on the side, ideal for sauce-mopping. (And yes, we mopped.) Next came the stuffed clams with chorizo and corn--so good we barely made eye contact. Gone in sixty seconds. For our token attempt at balance, we shared a green salad, and it was actually lovely. Crisp greens, fresh veggies, and a vinaigrette that knew how to stay in its lane--flavorful without being clingy. The service? Stellar. My waitress was a gem, but even the rest of the team checked in, topped off water, dropped off plates, and sprinkled in a little friendly banter. It felt like everyone was in on making the night special. Would I come back? In a heartbeat. With or without my date. Preferably with. But either way, I'm ordering the deviled eggs again.

I ordered the Stingy Penicillin since it seemed the most interesting (and because I did not realize there was another full page of options). As promised, it was not bitter at all and very smooth. I also loved that it had a giant ice cube with "SA" melted onto it. My friend ordered their old fashioned and it was probably the best one I ever had - it wasn't overly bitter, but instead had a sweet citrus finish. The staff is really kind and attentive. There are TVs at the bar and also tables all around for larger groups, or for more space.

I was expecting it to be a dive (I do love a good dive bar!), but Stingy Alley is beautiful and classy, with an amazing cocktail menu and small bites as well. I loved the dark wood decor, the low lighting throughout the establishment, and the accent lights at the bar are so pretty. There are many different types of seating - bar, high top tables, benches, regular tables, and a cute and comfy corner booth with throw pillows, which is where we opted to sit. Service was excellent. I was expecting to have to order at the bar, but Stingy Alley has table service. My husband ordered the espresso martini and I went with the Dubai chocolate martini. Both were outstanding - I could easily have tried a few more of the dessert cocktails, but alas we had a 40 minute drive home so that will have to wait for another visit. Will definitely come back to Stingy Alley - thanks for a lovely end to our night!
