I understand the hype. Tucked away in Fairhaven is Olivia's. Small l restaurant maybe about 8-10 tables, small bar, with a coast theme and open kitchen. Super friendly staff, able to accommodate guests. Came in for my girlfriend's birthday as a reservation. Each got the Hugo No.5, light refreshing exactly what we wanted for a hot summer day. Started with the focaccia, fresh fluffy some crisp and they had some olive oil to dip. Loved my duck cooked exactly how I wanted, presentation was stunning. The steak frites were delicious from the steak to the sauce to the fries, definitely the most bang for your buck. Got the churros forn dessert and since it was her birthday they actually had a little sparkler with it and took a Polaroid pic and gave it to us. Such a cute little touch and definitely a great memory. Was it a little expensive yes, but for the quality of what you get I'd do again gladly. read more

We came here on our last night of our mini honeymoon. We started with the crab cakes, the dragon water cocktail and a beer on tap. The crab cakes were good and I really enjoyed the cocktail. Their cocktail menu has a lot of fun options. I had the Caesar salad and added shrimp. I originally wanted scallops but they were sold out but the shrimp/salad was delicious My fiancé had the prime rib special which was also very good. For desert we had a scoop of the passionfruit guava sorbet and the night agent cocktail. Our sever put a sparkler in our gelato, gifted us two glasses of champagne and gave us a Polaroid picture of us. What a nice touch! A very cozy local restaurant with beautiful decor and great vibes. I've been hearing so many great things about this restaurant since they opened and finally got to check it out. It's cute, not too big, lovely bar and solid date night spot. As someone who's fortunate enough to try really great eats, I wasn't blown away by my meal, the dessert however was unbelievably tasty. I had a special, haddock with a pasta and pesto. It was super dry and the pasta was under seasoned. We tried the wings, the sauce was on-point, but the wings weren't crispy. The hubby had a Peruvian inspired lomo saltado which was good. Okay so this dessert was amazing. I'll go back just for the pistachio croissant bread pudding. So I've been struggling with adding this part and decided to add it in hopes the restaurant does some staff training to ensure patrons are 100% satisfied especially when you're dropping $200+ on dinner. My husband ordered a pain killer. It's a pretty classic drink and when they brought it over he was confused because it didn't look like the usual. The waitress commented that they use clarified coconut vs coconut cream. It would be nice to include that in the menu description and honestly, it wasn't good. He took maybe two sips from it and left it there. It was noticeable that the drink wasn't satisfactory and it was also noticeable that the waitress saw he wasn't drinking it and never asked about it even after coming to clear plates, pack leftovers, bring dessert menus, bring and clear dessert and coffee. That was unfortunate because it left an impression. It won't stop me from trying the place once again, but it was a real bummer. read more

Texted about 45 minutes ahead of time before we left Plymouth and had 2 bar seats ready for us when we arrived. Parking was easy across the street although I'm not sure this would be the case in the summer. It did seem like a lot of street parking was available as well. Cool cocktail list, interesting menu and fantastic service. Bartenders were friendly, welcoming and offered great recommendations. Everything we had to eat was fantastic and I can't wait to return to try more of the menu. This time we ordered the scallops and bacon, Caesar salad, New Orleans style shrimp, swordfish puttanesca and cheesecake for dessert. We had our 4 year anniversary & enjoyed it very much. The staff and (owner) were super attentive to our needs. They were pleasant & kind & aimed to please. The sirloin steak special was outstanding. This was our second time dining at Olivia's & it was just as amazing as the first time. Our server was Monique & she was absolutely fun & fantastic! We had a party of 5 and she took very good care of all of us. We started with beautifully crafted cocktails, we shared burrata & fresh with fresh bread. I had the scallops with rissoto, not only was the presentation gorgeous, it was delicious! We had 2 parties enjoy the duck & they both loved it. We had one white fish of the day & we made a pastanaca fan out of him & we had one wagyu burger with truffle fries. We shared a bottle of French wine with dinner & shared 2 deserts, the afagoto & flour less Chocolate cake. Every thing was amazing. The owner visited our table, such a nice personal touch. My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Olivia's this past August with mostly happy results. Having eaten here in its former iteration as "Elizabeth's," we were excited to compare old/new. The original (Elizabeth's) had been very good. Olivia's didn't disappoint. Comparable in quality, but roughly 25% more expensive and did not include bread with your meal (unless you pay a la carte). On a more recent visit (1/10) our late arrival of 4:40 for a 4:15 reservation was entirely our own fault. Though we kept the restaurant informed along the way as our GPS had us looping around unfamiliar roads (we still aren't terribly familiar with the route) only to be told upon arrival that they "had to cancel our reservation." Having come all the way from where we live in southern R.I. this was particularly disappointing. We ended up having a lovely time and good food at The Black Whale in New Bedford where we were met with smiling, hospitable hosts and servers. Our takeaway for Olivia's on this night, however, is that, despite it being 'our bad' for being late, I think it could have been handled better by the front house staff who delivered the news when we walked in. As a restaurant owner myself, I know I could have/would have gone the extra mile to leave a past/potential-future customer feeling better about an unfortunate situation. Great restaurant in old Fairhaven! We've been several times and never had a bad meal. Mostly seafood but a well-rounded menu. The cocktails are outstanding and the wine list solid. Best service I've had on the south coast, bar none, and the ambience is beautiful. (Why doesn't every restaurant get outfitted with sound dampening?!?!) I've been waiting a while to write this review; wanted to be sure I had visited several times and tried various dishes and drinks. As you can see from my other reviews, I've had the privilege of traveling extensively. I've eaten at some of the finest restaurants on five continents, including several with the coveted (if sometimes overrated) Michelin star(s). I'm pleased (and honestly a little surprised) to say that Olivia's stands up against any of these, despite its modest location and unassuming facade. Each visit has surpassed the previous in terms of the experience, so I am now confident in writing this review. The experience begins at the host table, where invariably we've been greeted by cheerful and engaging hosts. In a day when peeved indifference is common in a restaurant host, this is a pleasant & welcome surprise. Raquel is simply a master mixologist behind the bar; try any of her signature cocktails and you will understand. The waitstaff is professional, courteous, good humored, and attentive. Dishes are creative and expertly executed. For example, I recently dined at what is by all accounts an excellent Peruvian restaurant in Manhattan, where I had the lomo saltado, which was excellent. But the same dish here at Olivia's exceeds the NY experience in every respect. In all sincerity, I did not previously know that the human sense of taste was capable of such variations. More recently I tried the swordfish, and again was treated to a remarkable range of flavors that I would never have intuitively put together, but worked perfectly. Dessert is never a let down here, so don't skip it. There are some minor (IMO) points that you should be aware of prior to dining. First, it is true that it is a fairly small space, and it can get quite loud. I am pleased to note that on my most recent visit, however, they had installed noise dampening panels on the ceiling. Still a bit loud, but noticeably improved. Also, you may see some negative reviews regarding the prices being too high. They are not too high for the quality, creativity, and experience you receive, but they are higher than other restaurants in the area. As the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for.' Olivia's is without question the best restaurant in the area; and a welcome addition to the south coast of Massachusetts. Being able to dine at a place like Olivia's, without having to drive to Boston or Newport, is a rare gift. And where are those Michelin Guide reviewers when you need one? read more

We started out with 2 different appetizer's. The Bruschetta and Pepperoni Arancini. Both were to die for! For the entree's my husband chose the Lomo Saltado which he stated was flavorful and delicious. I had the White Fish of the day which was Haddock with Miso Brown butter crust. It had mashed potatoes under the fish along with Broccoli... It was absolutely delicious! A large piece of fish made to perfection! The waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Our server Adam was very knowledgeable and talented. He knew the menu well and timed our courses and drinks perfectly. The meal was one of the best I've had in a long time. The churros almost made me cry. The restaurant was practically at capacity and still felt comfortable, relaxed and well managed. Great new addition to the South Coast restaurant scene from the team behind New Bedford's staple The Baker. Sweet remodel of the former Elizabeth's. Clean, modern and comfortable. The food is among the best I've had in the area. Standouts include the littleneck chowder, gluten free, Oysters Rockefeller and terrific focaccia. For entrees we had the Chicken Milanese and Pan Seared NB U10 Scallops. Finally these amazingly fresh bivalves were treated with some respect and the fucking Ritz crackers were nowhere in sight!!! Delicious and simple. I was born and raised in NB and have been a restaurateur and somm in LA forever and am so grateful, pleased and proud that the local ingredients are finally being treated with the care and love they deserve. Service is warm and earnest. They are so happy to earn your trust and confidence with their guidance to ensure your experience is exemplary. Reservations are a touch difficult to come by but keep trying and I'm sure you'll be successful as the summer crowds dwindle and it's worth it!
