Another great trip to Little Moss. We headed to Padanaram last night for some Xmas shopping and the light turn on. We ate at Little Moss. Being plant based I always worried if they could accommodate me. They did an amazing job. The mushroom dish I had was one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was great. I always love how cozy it feels in there in the winter. Great wine selection. The olives, green goddess salad, squash, and roasted oysters (fiancé had those) were amazing too. Tough decisions- should I have my usual favorite - burger & fries? But the pasta is always so delicious? Or should I have the fresh fish? Or what other creative dish is also on the menu tonight? This time I changed things up - a fantastic salad, with greens, apples, fennel and I must check the ingredients because it was surely the best salad ever. I had the ricotta with focaccia appetizer as my main. The ricotta dish is one of my favorites but that with a salad and then a main is just too much food unless you perhaps share. I must save room for dessert - the always perfect pot du crème or perhaps a warm cookie and ice cream. I can't begin to explain the squash dish - we were excited to try it as it is new to the menu, we shared it among 4 of us and we can't stop talking about the amazing flavors - how can it be soooo delicious? I see other reviewers have commented about the small menu - yes it's small because it's food fresh from the area. Very attentive service, small, cozy atmosphere. Cocktails are especially creative and equal thought has gone into mocktails. Other reviewers question the fare wage fees so I did some research - too much information to write here so please do some research yourself but I like the idea and apparently more and more restaurants are following this lead and yes you can tip more if you like. I suggest going to Little Moss for every occasion you can think of, even if it's just celebrating the middle of the week. read more

Sigh..... This is going to be a difficult one. Located in South Dartmouth this quaint little restaurant is nestled away a street over from the water. Great atmosphere. Although very small and tables very close. Our waitress shimmied between our table and the table on the side of us to take their order.She was so close my husband and I just stared at each other to not look at her backside almost nestled on our table. Yikes. Menu is EXTREMELY small--- four entree choices. I ordered a Martini--- no grey goose--- no Tito's--- only Bully Boy?!?!? What the heck is that? ok how about some blue cheese stuffed olives? Nope---Only plain olives So for my 4oz $18 "Bully" Boy martini I sort felt I was the one being "Bully-ied" The food was delicious. Great presentation and flavor. Small portions for the price. The check came to the table next to us--- and since they were almost sitting on our lap they asked what is Fair Wage Charge? The credit card slip had a place for gratuity so we weren't sure what this charge was for? We learned it was sort of like an imposed for pooled tip... but also included kitchen staff. I didn't notice anything notifying the customer of this charge which just left a bad taste in my mouth despite the food being so tasty. It is always best to be transparent about untraditional charges. My advice--- if you go make sure you are not super hungry. Although you can buy bread for $8. Be prepared that alcohol choices are limited. And review the bill to determine extra gratuities in the event they continue a "fair wage charge" read more

First time at Little Moss and we loved it. We sat at the bar with Nikki and had a marvelous night. We had cocktails, appetizers and each had a fresh pasta dinner. The food is consistently top notch, but the dining experience is not. Others describe front of house management as engaging in "selective hospitality," and I experienced this first-hand this evening. We made reservations with the understanding (via email confirmation) that there would be a special prix fixe menu for the NYE holiday, only to arrive and not have that be the case. This was only conveyed to us after we expressed surprise to the server when presented with the regular menu. They did end up offering the prix fixe option to the table, but only after we asked. This wasn't a cost issue but frustration over lack of communication. Toward the end of the meal, when we noticed that despite many at our table ordering the same dish (steak au poivre) as the adjacent table, we asked the manager why ours was prepared with a different cut of meat (tenderloin) while the other table had steak/filet. Again, the food was delicious, but the explanation was completely nonsensical. For all the pretension, I would expect FOH management to know that tenderloin and filet are different cuts of beef. read more

Disappointing and overpriced with undisclosed 20% fair wage service charge on top. Service was terrible. Non existent might be a better description. For a small town restaurant the servers had zero personality and seemed put out to have patrons at their tables. Drove 35 minutes for this meal after multiple foodie friends recommended it. Maybe it's different in the summer or the chef doesn't work Saturday nights? Brussel sprouts were the only positive, nice flavor profile if not a touch salty but it's restaurant fare so presented as expected. Mains were overly salty. Pot de Creme dessert had overpowering caramel and seemed to have forgotten the chocolate. Despite ordering from the signature cocktail menu, the ratios were all wrong in the drinks (Negronis, Aperol spritz, and an espresso martini that was nothing more than bitter cold coffee) and took forever to come to the table (well after the course was served despite ordering with the food). The cherry on top was the 20% fair wage charge on the entire bill (not mentioned on menu or we would have sent food back) guaranteeing the server made their money for doing nothing. $100/head for salty food, bad drinks and horrible service. Another wonderful dinner at Little Moss. Tonight, we sat on the patio and enjoyed the fresh air, string lights and the trees for a a lovely atmosphere. Cameron was again on point with his wine recommendations and dinner recs. We started with zucchini arancini and then the sweet and salty cheese, both which brought together a great flavor. Round Two: Fika!! We discovered Fika when we went to Sweden to pick up my XC40 Volvo (Overseas Delivery). Fika is usually coffee and amazing Swedish pastries but at Little Moss, it is a morning and afternoon culinary experience. My partner and I stopped in for Fika/brunch and had another amazing experience. We had a tight little two top in a bustling dining room with a moderate noise level that leveled off after two families left. I point out these nuances as seating and sound are really important to me. Despite the little two top (my partner is 6'3" 230) we made it work. The food made up for the tight spot. We had sourdough waffles with homemade blueberry compote, decadent whipped cream and real maple syrup. My partner ordered bacon for protein and I ordered scallops. We started with a lovely Bloody for him and a cappuccino made by Shannon, one of our fav baristas. Shannon makes THE best foam in my life. Seth enjoyed his Bloody. The food was on another level. Flavors blew us away. I could have eaten 4 waffles and the scallops. they were little morsels from heaven. There were 6 and the price point was a bit high but so what, they were divine. We had a lovely brunch and as always, look forward to our return. read more

Had a really great meal here last night that started out bumpy and ended on a high note. First off was a cocktail, the punch, which was truly excellent and one of the best drinks I've had in along time -- good enough (and light enough) that I got a second round. Next was a snack board for the table, which for me was a weak point. Everything on the board was either extremely sour, extremely salty or both, which paired with a very modest amount of bread made it a little tough to eat. I personally would prefer some lighter/fresher-tasting quick pickles and maybe some crackers etc to balance out the pungent stuff. Next up, my spaghetti with little necks, which I loved: it was very intensely lemony and savory, and I asked for extra bread so I could mop up the last bits of sauce. My husband got the bass, which he liked but I thought was a little under-seasoned. Finally, the chocolate pot de creme with salted caramel, which was probably the best dessert I've had in years -- completely silky with the perfect sweet/bitter/salty balance. I'd definitely come back here whenever we return to the area. Also, re the pricing and portions: I thought the portions were perfect for being able to do three courses and leave full but not sick, but I'm not a huge eater. The 20% service fee is indicated on both the menu and the receipt, so didn't come as a surprise. The prices were about on par with to slightly under what I'd expect to see back home in upstate NY. read more

Little moss is great and do recommend, but there are some issues with easy fixes, the main one being: The wine list is WAY too small. Five options, and they all suck. I'm not wanting a whole book, but no Cabernet Sauvignon? Come on- Easy fix there! The pastas are all really yummy, but are a bit on the small side if you are particularly hungry. The pot de crème for dessert is a must. Incredibly chocolatey rich and delicious. Service is good, there is gratuity automatically on the bill too just an FYI. read more

The afternoon could not have been better- the food was fresh and the suggested wines paired well with the food. Shannon, the General Manager, worked with us to build a custom menu, and was great to work with. Alexis and Cameron the bartenders/servers mixed excellent cocktails and were very attentive! Amazing, beautifully decorated and creative restaurant with outstanding and attentive service. We brought our one year old and were welcomed by the wait staff who went out of their way to make her time there enjoyable. The food was truly amazing- we started with the pork bun (could've eaten ten of these) Ricketson's point eggplant and tomatoes with smoked parmesan- all were simply prepared but perfectly seasoned. We got the deep fried sea bass that was on special for our main dish and it was one of the best dishes we have had in a long time. Again, it was simply prepared and minimally seasoned to perfection. Dessert was a pots du creme that was out of this world. If you're looking for a special meal with outstanding service, this is the place. Worth the drive from RI, Boston, wherever. read more

Epitomizing Padanaram's renaissance, Little Moss is an exceptionally high caliber restaurant in this tiny yachting village. Modern designer cocktails, exquisitely plated innovative dishes with local farm fresh specialties, and high style ambiance shoehorned into a small space, all come together in this enjoyable new bistro. The duck was the best I've had outside Beijing, delightfully inventive and nostalgic with johnnycake, fresh berries and local greens. The cured swordfish bellies on noodles, tempura'd squash blossoms and sunchoke ice cream with rhubarb were also delicious. However, the service, wait and limited menu are drawbacks. The table wobbled, the waitress offered to "help me pronounce any menu items I could not", our shared raw bar order came with 1 fork and a tiny lemon sliver, and our bill was dropped unceremoniously as we began dessert. For the price, I expected better service and maybe more choices for dessert (2 items, both ice cream). Overall, very impressed and pleased to find such refined dining here. :) read more

Visiting a student at the local college and decided to take them off campus for a real meal as they've been eating cafeteria and fast food for a few months. Pros- great location, fabulous staff, beautiful decor Cons- very limited parking Salted Cod Balls Pros- nicely plated with perfect amount of sauce Cons- definitely salty New York Sirloin- Pros- cooked perfectly; Cons- It was gristly and fatty for an excessive price point. Tilefish Pros- perfect potatoes Cons- dry fish with too much sauce ( felt as if it was fish soup) Burger Pros- perfect size, delicious fries, no cons Pot de creme Pros- perfect Chocolate chip cookie Cons- salty and burnt very disappointed- no pros This is a very quaint location similar to something you'd see in Chatham or Brewster. It was a nice surprise to find this village in the middle of what I've known as a "college" town. I'd love to try it again. All in all it was a pleasant encounter. Everything the owners, John and Lisa Lofberg make is from local ingredients and made on the premises. We kicked things off with several cocktails - hard to have just one. 'AW SNAP' was my favorite made from Craft Boyd & Blair vodka, sugar snap juice, yellow chartreuse and demerara. Others had "MERMAID SONG' which uses hibiscus infused Aviation gin, Germain elderflower and Creme de Yvette, 'CELERY JAM' (Privateer rum, celery juice, orange and sage), and the 'LITTLE MOSS HIGHBALL' (Greenhook Ginsmith's Beach Plum Gin, lavender, lemon juice and fresh mint). They also have strong wine and beer offerings. I had the Parsnip soup and if I could have licked the bowl I would have. Too lovely a restaurant for that type of behavior. My main course was Tautog with mussels and calamari in a yummy romesco broth. The fish is caught just out the door in Buzzard's Bay. Dessert was an unusual pairing of sunchoke (Jerusalem artichoke) ice cream sprinkled with brown sugar 'crisp' like crumbles and a rhubarb sauce. Light and yummy. I was stuck by how unique the flavor combinations were with every dish. And, it all worked. Cozy inside with a small and pretty bar. Patio seating as well. Perfect spot for a Summer evening for dinner. I understand in the future they will be serving Lunch and later in the Summer - brunch! Last week, we rented out Little Moss for a work event. John and Lisa were extremely pleasant, accommodating and wonderful to partner with for the event. They had a guest chef on site for the week, so we had an interesting "fusion" menu of the local foods they are known for with a southern twist/flair because of the guest chef. The food was fresh and fantastic and the meal was well paced. The servers were attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant itself is cozy and to be honest, it felt like we were going to dinner at an old friend's/family member's house. All in all, we were very pleased with the event itself and kudos to John and Lisa for having a sustainable and local approach to dining! read more

Visited Little Moss for the first time this evening, based on high praise from our restaurateur friends. WOW! Well worth the 45-minute drive from Providence. What a beautiful, inviting, clean, well-designed restaurant. Excellent lighting, comfortable seating and warm overall ambiance contributed to a delightful and delicious birthday celebration. (I could do without listening to Led Zeppelin and ELO while I am dining, however. Play that in the kitchen instead.) Extraordinarily clean restrooms. The food was exquisite; fresh and thoughtfully prepared. For birthday dessert, the lemon curd tart and chocolate pots de creme were both outrageously perfect. I appreciate their limited menu--it assures every morsel is fresh, has been well-considered and is made with great care. Though we received attentive service at the start, as soon as the place started to fill up, it was difficult to get a server's attention. (No biggie, just an observation.) On a more personal and persnickety note, I wish the service staff had shirts that were at least ironed, if not tucked in...on par with the details afforded both the food and the space. read more

Especially bad for the elderly, who will have to walk back and forth to the counter as the employees watch. We have been going to Little moss for a few years now. We have told friends about the restaurant, brought family, and been on multiple valentine day weekends. This year was the first time it was sub par. The food was pretty good but over priced. For $300 we received just over a bottle of wine, one cocktail each, an antipasto, a Caesar salad, two meatballs, 6 pieces of calamari, a pasta with ten little necks, and a dessert. Not $300! It was worth about $200 but def not $300. Valentine's Day shouldn't be a 1.5 upsell. Also they now automatically charge 20 percent for tip. Normally we tip at least 20 percent or more but they added a post it note claiming it was a fair labor act agreement. Until next time if there is one. read more
