Seared scallops

The food and service were awesome! I had the Seared Scallops which were a 10/10! Will definitely recommend to others.

I came back on a Monday and got some pizzas. First off - the half off deal is AMAZING! What a good value for some brick oven pizzas. And this time all of my pizzas came out piping hot and delish. The hot honey pepperoni pizza is awesome - probably one of my favorite pizza places in Southcoast MA! Thanks for a great dinner!

Trashcan nachos

Relatively new spot that plays on traditional American bar food (nachos, pizza, sandwiches etc) with a short selection of unique entrees and speciality dishes. Two large bars (one inside and one out) with plenty of TVs to watch the game. Smaller quieter more family friendly seating available as well. My only complaint was that it was too much sometimes. Too much queso on the nachos, sandwiches were too big they got messy quickly. But overall absolutely delicious, friendly and attentive staff. When in the area I'll be back and trying something different!

House Made Chips (Complimentary)

Stopped in to check out the new Soco Tavern. It was fairly busy but we were still able to get parking and a table with no issues. The interior looks amazing after the remodel and upgrades the new owners made. The open kitchen is a nice touch, and there is lots of cool art on the walls. Our server was very friendly and brought over some complimentary House Made Chips (which were awesome). We tried the Giant Pretzel for an appetizer and that was really good as well. We ended up sharing a couple of their pizzas. We went with a Classic Cheese and The Necker. Both were good, however could have been cooked a little longer to crisp then underside (had alot of flop), but they had great flavor and re-heated well for leftovers as well.

The braised short rib I ordered 10 days ago.

I'm not even much of a yelper but I feel the need to publicly express my disappointment. I visited the Soco Tavern 10 days ago for the first time since it was the Ice Chest. I'm newly back to the area. I ordered a stuffed quahog and the braised short rib and it was AMAZING. I went back again to watch the Superbowl and had the honey hot pepperoni pizza which was SO good. I was excited to return today. Again I ordered the stuffed quahog and the braised short rib. I didn't even look at a menu. I was so excited to enjoy this meal again. However, this time the stuffed quahog was just so-so. Very dry. Fine. It was the short rib I was really looking forward to. However, the dish I received was a pale comparison to the dish I received just 10 days ago. The photos tell the story.

Portuguese Spring Rolls
Nicole M.

Four hours into our road trip and it was time for late lunch so we stopped here-- and wow am I glad we did! Everything is top notch, creative, delicious and fresh, from the chips served when we were seated to the wonderful s'mores bread pudding (where even the fluff is house made)! There were no misses on the food. The Portuguese spring rolls were a fun tasty spin with a wonderful texture and not greasy as they could be, and the sauce and pickled ginger were a great complement. The drunken burrata pizza was terrific and well balanced, with the perfectly crunchy-chewy crust offering the perfect base for the savory sausage and vodka sauce with bright wedges of tomato and just the right amount of heat from the red pepper. We asked for the burrata on one side for my current dietary restriction (sad!) and they happily obliged, but from my husband's report it was a nice cool creamy finish to the flavors (which were already wonderful on their own.) Last but not least the bread pudding is a big win: decadent and moist with nice crunchy graham pieces and the brûléed fluff finishing it off perfectly. I have to also call out how exceptional our server Tara was. She was so kind and impressively efficient - she checked in with us about our timing while foreseeing and meeting every need we had, which was really above and beyond. She refilled our drinks before we'd even think of asking, and dropped our check before we asked, moving everything along quickly and kindly, making the experience all the more wonderful. If there were server Olympics she'd be a gold medalist for sure. If I lived around here I'd be back no doubt: great ambiance while having space for big parties, and the bar looks massive and inviting too. Don't miss this spot!

Chicken and biscuit

Wow, not sure where to begin. Love that you can make reservations ahead of time online and I highly recommend that you do. Great place for large parties. We had absolute amazing service for our large party. My granddaughter wanted spinach as a veggie and it actually is not a side dish. However, they accommodated her request without issue. This place is so amazing and delicious! We had anywhere from salad to pizza. The pizza was stone fired and we decided to make our own. It was out of this world and we left craving more as it really hit the taste buds. The oysters were local from Westport and succulent. It was served w a frozen mignonette, which I thought was weird. Taste was good but just not my preference. Chicken and biscuit dish was a large portion and perfect. Seafood platter, perfect. Clam chowder, thick, creamy, and very tasty. Full bar. Great cocktails. Quahog served on a bed of seaweed, which was very aesthetically pleasing. We will definitely come back for more next trip in the area.

This is the new and hottest spot in the area and I can see why! Beautiful restaurant with multiple dine in and bar areas to it. My friend and I were served by Layla who was so sweet and kind. Brought over some water and the house chips which were fantastic! I would buy by the bag. Each of us had a mocktail and cocktail, my friends cider one was a bit heavier on the tequila than the cider and I enjoyed my mocktail. Had the Portuguese spring rolls, cute little twist to a classic dish, came out hot, big portion just wish it had a bit more Chourico to it. My friend got the chicken and waffles and as a culinary chef she was impressed how juicy the chicken was, great gravy on topped and enjoyed the biscuit. I had the short rib and it was fantastic! Loved the mashed as well and great flavor to the sauce. Finished off with the s'mores bread pudding, easily one of the best I've ever had I just wish it would have a scoop of vanilla ice cream to it, would be perfect! Overall I would definitely come back again, there was several tables around us getting the pizza from the stone oven which looked fantastic!

Super friendly staff, able to accommodate guests. Came in for my girlfriend's birthday as a reservation. Each got the Hugo No.5, light refreshing exactly what we wanted for a hot summer day. Started with the focaccia, fresh fluffy some crisp and they had some olive oil to dip. Loved my duck cooked exactly how I wanted, presentation was stunning. The steak frites were delicious from the steak to the sauce to the fries, definitely the most bang for your buck. Got the churros forn dessert and since it was her birthday they actually had a little sparkler with it and took a Polaroid pic and gave it to us. For desert we had a scoop of the passionfruit guava sorbet and the night agent cocktail. Our sever put a sparkler in our gelato, gifted us two glasses of champagne and gave us a Polaroid picture of us. What a nice touch! A very cozy local restaurant with beautiful decor and great vibes. So good that we cancelled our reservation we had the next evening elsewhere and came right back. With that being said, let's get right into it. The hostess seated us at a beautiful corner table outside looking out to the ocean and the bridge entrance and skyline of New Bedford. The view was simply amazing. Our waitress Bri was, for lack of a better word? Awesome! These were $700 glasses, and the situation was handled with zero honesty, accountability or professionalism. We still paid our bill, but after the way the staff handled this, we will not return. Large parking lot but it was PACKED on a Saturday night, so def make reservations for dinner! You can dine inside or outside, we opted for inside. Place is quite charming - reminds me of a spot you'd find in Boston. Rustic and charming with the wooden beams but still upscale and modern with decor. While we waited for our calamari and marsala gnocchi, we got some focaccia with butter - fluffy and not overly dense, perfect bites to start our night. Calamari def tasted fresh and was fried nicely but can we talk about the Marsala gnocchi (happened to be an app special). Not necessarily the best gnocchi I've had but prob the best gnocchi dish I've had - the Marsala sauce along with the caramelized onions and mushrooms were scrumptious. If it weren't for our entrees coming, I would've eaten the entire thing, so we asked for it to be packed up. My chicken parm was very good but I was still dreaming of the gnocchi while eating my entree, lol. We ended with the death by chocolate cake (complimentary for the birthday boy) and I had the limoncello sorbet. Both ended our meal perfectly. I have to give big kudos to our waitress, Chantel - super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The only thing I'd knock on is that some of the seating is a bit tight. It'd be nice to have a little more space in between the tables but I understand wanting to maximize the space. Sounds of fishing vessels horns blowing throughout the New Bedford harbor and Wow what a view for dining. Today I dined in the Indoor / Outdoor bar area with a very and picturesque view of fishing vessels. Folks if you're thinking of enjoying a meal on the docks well this is your spot for that experience. Ok enough about visuals let's talk about food and wow what a meal.. A refreshing Watermelon sangria kicked off things. Totally an amazing refreshing cocktail I didn't expect to order, in fact I've never had a watermelon sangria prior to this meal. Folks this is a must order so listen and drink up. Rhode Island Calamari & a cup of New England Clam Chowder started my dining expereince off. Rich chunky clam chowda didn't disappoint and I only wished I'd ordered a bowl vs a cup. Calamari was perfectly breaded with an aioli sauce for dippin. Yes I had the hot cherry peppers placed on side as you can see but my dining partner enjoyed it, I'm just not into hot cherry peppers, so deal with it... Ok for main meal I ordered Tempura Shrimp sushi & chilled prawns... My sushi was primo and I enjoyed every bite. We made the rookie mistake of showing up without a reservation on a Tuesday night, and the restaurant was packed. The hostess, who was in training, handled the situation with such poise. She was warm, thoughtful, and transparent about the 45-minute wait, which we genuinely appreciated. What really set the tone, though, was Will. I later learned he was one of the owners, but you never would have guessed it. He wasn't standing back overseeing the dining room; instead, he was in it, working just as hard as everyone else. He welcomed us personally, empathized, and even offered us a cocktail while we waited. As we sat nearby, we watched him gently coach the hostess in training. There was humor, kindness, and encouragement, balanced with clear expectations: simple reminders like making sure every guest is greeted the moment they walk through the door. It was leadership by example. He carried himself with humility, intention, and a work ethic that he clearly models for his entire team. Watching those interactions made me appreciate the restaurant even before we sat down to eat. By the end of the meal, the wait didn't matter one bit. In fact, after experiencing both the hospitality and the food, we completely understood why the restaurant was full on a Tuesday night. The service was exceptional. I'll update this review once I remember our server's name because she absolutely deserves recognition. She was attentive, incredibly hardworking, and gracefully managed not only our table but the many families with children around us. The manager also stopped by to check on us, and it felt entirely sincere. The model started at the top and was clearly part of their ethos. They were so generous which is why we recommend this spot to anyone visiting the area! The food was every bit as impressive as the service. The shrimp cocktail featured some of the largest, freshest shrimp I've had in years--perfectly chilled and absolutely delicious. The oysters were impeccably fresh and beautifully presented. Every dish reinforced why New England seafood has the reputation it does. Great restaurants serve great food. Exceptional restaurants create a culture that guests can actually feel. This place does both. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, we'll be smart enough to make a reservation.
