Over the course of the last four years, I've tried multiple things from this place and it is very much so a hit or miss. I will not indulge in certain things because I feel like it would take away from the good from the place but what I can say is my experience from this place hasn't been the best. I feel like a lot of the food that is made that you spend a good amount of money on is not taken seriously. Lobster Mac and cheese - I don't really know what to say about the mac & cheese other than it could've been better. There was plenty of lobster so I have no complaints over that. I feel like it should've been mixed in and then topped with lobster maybe even baked and that there was more cheese. For the price point that they were asking for the portion made sense for the price, but the quality didn't. Caesar Salad - the lettuce was fresh. The cheese was fresh. The croutons was fresh. Overall the salad was great. I have no complaints. I do wanna make this clear the ambience of the place is amazing is very homey and the locals are nice there. I've come in during different times and every time I'm greeted with a smile and a great personality from the staff. If I had any advice for this place, I would say for someone like me who is a foodie and goes to multiple restaurants all around Massachusetts and other states, please do your checks. It makes all of the difference. It is one of the reasons why I stayed away for a good little bit , but I took another chance and I'm not upset about it, but I am not happy about it either, so I feel like based on the quality of the ingredients and the potential behind the dish, they should be no reason for the hit or miss. read more

So I ordered a large fish and chip, apparently English style! When I got the order and got home it was (2) decent sized fish with exactly 21 French fries. The fish was mushy and the fries were barely cooked.(cold and soft) The coleslaw had no flavor like watery. If you go online it shows free chowder with large fish and chip order, nothing was asked only asked if I wanted anything! Worst meal I have ever had on the south coast. Ove done seafood, lukewarm chowder watery broth and little or no substance. Stuffed quahog cold and all breading. Over thirty minutes to get apps and 45 minutes for the entree. Two folks at the bar and two other tables. I did complain to management and no response. Our Server, Miss Deija was constantly at our table asking how the food was and if there was anything else that she could get for us. I decided to get the Nachos Grande to take home. I found that the cheese, salsa and hot peppers were a little skimpy compared to the amount of chips that I got, along with 1 small container of sour cream. The desert menu was small with nothing that sounded out of this world to try, so we skipped desert. The bill was a little over $100, (not including tip), for my wife and I. A little pricey, however, not ridiculous considering that we had gotten 3 appetizers, 2 entrees and my wife had a beer and I had an ice tea. I ordered a horrific Tuna sub from G&S Pizza, which just so happens to be next door to Mikey B's. After throwing the whole sub away I decided to come here as several of my staff recommended it for good seafood. There is ample parking in the back and the restaurant has a cozy vibe. The bartender seems like she has been there for years. The bar service was great but the food took a long time to come out for a place that wasn't busy during lunch time. The Cabernet Sauvignon was pretty good. The Salmon with Tomatoes and Baby Spinach claims to be healthy and light on their menu but its very much full of butter. It was pretty tasty, but greasy. The Spanish Rice was good, but tasteless. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to have much flavor though. The Cucumber Salad is 70% Onion and 30% Cucumber but was decent. I'm a big fan of salad dressing and there was plenty in this little dish. Overall, it was a decent experience and I plan on returning. read more

Where to begin.. I never leave negative reviews, I always think if something goes wrong at a restaurant that it's just their off day. but unfortunately . . . The waitress was absolutely blitzed. Made our drinks pure liquor with a hint of mixer. Which I guess I great if we sat at the bar, but we were having a family dinner. The clam boil was so disappointing, growing up in New England I haven't had a bad claim boil in my LIFE. Potatoes and linguica undercooked, half the clams weren't opened SHELL FISH 101 BUT honestly, the bathroom was crème de la crème. The accessible bathroom had a house door. Not even a stall door. The restaurant is fabulous, love the ambience it's colorful & exciting. The food is wonderful and delicious. My favorite there is the Salmon dishes & the burgers! Definitely delicious, the prices are in line with other local restaurants in New Bedford. I love the drinks there they have a full bar with great recipes. My favorite is the "Liquid Sunshine" yummy. Also they have a children's menu & "Special price" reduced price luncheon menu. They deliver, takeout, curbside pickup & it has a large room for an type of celebration or funerals. It's in the far North-end of the city but easily assessable from either Acushnet Ave. or Route 140. The kids love the dragon hanging in their Middle dining room. They are also very kid friendly & they don't discriminate against anyone or anything. read more

We have been here two times now. I think the first visit was better than the second. This time both my husband and I had the fried seafood combo platter and a cup of chowder. The chowder was nothing spectacular and the combo platter was ok at best. It seemed very thick/heavy to me, not a nice light batter. The restaurant itself is very comfortable, casual, spacious and colorful. If you are looking for gourmet, this is not the place. We will definitely give them another try down the road. read more

Tried MikeyB's a couple of times in the past and it was just average. The food was good but the young servers were more focused on flirting with the young guys at the bar than taking our order and getting our drinks. Last Tuesday was too hot to cook, so we decided to go out for a cold beer and a quick bite and decided to try MikeyB's. What a difference! The bar tender and cook were sociable and attentive to everyone, even us non regulars. I was looking for a particular beer that wasn't on tap, so I asked and the bartender checked the cooler and sure enough they had it in a can. The food recommendations were good and came up in no time. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Mike's Favorite Sandwich were outstanding and they were both HUGE. Because the sandwiches were so big, we didn't have room for dessert - next time we will start with dessert. I had gone to a restaurant near the water that normally has fried clams on the menu but they must not serve them in the winter. So we ordered other entrees and decided to order takeout from Mikey B's and pick it up on the way home. Before we finished our meals I called in to order our takeout, the person who answered the phone told me 20 minutes. I got there in 20 minutes and proceeded to wait another 55 minutes until the food was done. This was on a Monday with 2 people in the restaurant and maybe 6 people at the bar. One of my family members complained about our wait and the manager said that she'd take $15 off our next order. Do you really think we'd ever go back to this place? I've always found Mikey B's to be a really mediocre restaurant and hadn't been in years. I was in the area and decided to give it another try after hearing that it had improved. My husband started with clam chowder, which had a peculiar taste and was not good. My coconut shrimp was decent, but I kept bitiing into pieces of shell. Side salad was full of slimy pieces of bad lettuce. My wine tasted like it had been sitting in an opened bottle for months. My husband ordered a salad and was disappointed in that as well. We followed that excellent start by each of us ordering a Broiled Seafood Casserole which has a medley of scrod, scallops, shrimp and steamed clams on top. There are quite a few seafood restaurants in Southeastern Massachusetts,and not all of them serve anything to write home about. Ordered a take-out at 1:10 p.m. Asked for a large fried clam dinner ($26.99) to be picked up and asked for one extra container of tartar sauce. They told me "25" minutes. Got there at 1:32 p.m. (three minutes early)...paid the check and started to wait...and wait...and wait. I watched the "chef" through the window. The place wasn't busy. He kept disappearing around a corner. Then, he would come back and do nothing (adjusted his baseball cap a few times...no gloves, by the way). Food finally arrived at 2:04 p.m. (that's 54 minutes, not 25). Got the food home and found that their "large" fried clam dinner amounts to exactly 8 clams...and about 3/4 of a pound of French fries. By the way, even though I did not get the extra tartar sauce, it didn't matter...there were't enough clams for even one container of tartar sauce. I can't imagine how chinsy a small order ($19.99) would have been...In one simple word, "DON'T". read more

This is our go to spot for the 5 dollar burger special. Always a great meal and apps. They have amazing specials all week long. Nice friendly crowd at the bar where we usually dine.
