Portuguese fish & chips

We tried the Roasted Pig based on a recommendations for their "dinner for 2" special. We're so glad we went! The service and food were both excellent. The meal started with soft bread, toasted bread, and olives. I had the fish & chips with broccoli instead of rice. The fish was very lightly coated in an egg batter and flour, which I loved. The fries and fish weren't greasy at all. My son's shrimp Mozambique was a great sized portion with big shrimp. The wine was what you would expect for a bottle that's basically free, but it was drinkable! We will return.

Paper that was stuck in my ice cube

First time here. In an area with competitive Portuguese cuisine this restaurant is just ok. Parking lot is small but there is street parking. Decor is cute. Wine list is extensive. My glass of water had an ice cube with a foreign body in it. Looked like some sort of paper. I had the marinated pork with potatoes and clams. Clams were chewy and some looked under cooked. Dad had the shrimp Mozambique. Slice potatoes were not very flavorful. Mom had pork with potatoes. I did love the marinade on the meats. The paper in my water threw me off. Service was just ok. All in all, maybe worth a try x 1 but I will not be back.

delicious! stopped in for lunch and tried the mozambique tips special which were delicious! we were seated and accommodated quickly as well :) the sangria was a bit on the sweeter side but i enjoyed it, and the rest of my party really liked their food. we will be back for sure!

Dry fish and chips no flavor no sauce

Won't order take out from here again. Fries ice cold. Fish and chips came with no sauce and was dry like paper and bland with no seasoning. Chicken sandwich also no flavor. Asked for a side of Mozambique and they didn't bring it yet it's on my slip so clearly kitchen staff doesn't follow directions

Bife a casa

I had the bife a casa which was really good. But the star of the show was the frango well worth the 40 min wait made fresh to order. Ugh soo good was soo good I didn't even take a picture. It nice inside they did a good job. Now the service was to be desired. Great the chef owner came out to check on the tables. But our service was slow but the food made up for it.

Perhaps the best - ok it is the best-'Portuguese food we have had. He is Portuguese and didn't stop raving on the authenticity of the dishes. Really good service, fun and bright atmosphere. We got the lunch special - $34.95 for two entrees and a pitcher of sangria)- we enjoyed cups (these were really small bowls) of their soup (amazing), coffee and dessert. Cannot wait to return.

Pork Alentejana beautifully prepared and served.

The most authentic Portuguese restaurant I have ever visited. Pork Alentajana, Carne Espito, Cacoila, faves. Married into a Portuguese family of combined mainland/Azorean heritage so I have become familiar and enamored with both cultures. Have visited both countries. The Roasting Pig does both cuisines proud! And the service is tremendous!! I only wish I didn't live two hours away

Amazing Portuguese comfort food. Got the classic chicken mozambique and it certainly did not disappoint. Hope to be back soon.

I was escorted to my table and was soon greeted by my waiter Ethan who brought bread and the menus. Bread was just mini white loafs, exceptional only for its absolute freshness. So many places have done away with table bread so this was very much appreciated, but it was way too much for a single diner. The mostly Portuguese menu had much to choose from. I got the Pasteis de Bacalhau appetizer (codfish cakes). The 8 small-sized cakes had a subtly crisp golden brown exterior and a filling that was light in both texture and flavor - less salt cod than in some others would be my guess. This was served with banana peppers and black olives over a bit of lettuce. I liked them but felt a sauce of some sort would have elevated them. I used Red Hot from the table. The entree section was very heavy on the meats, particularly steaks of which there were 8, sirloin, shish ka bob, filet, and t-bone, prepared in a variety of ways. I didn't want a steak and, being in a Portuguese restaurant I wanted something more obviously Portuguese. So I went to the seafood section which was also extensive and found Swordfish Alhinho Style. I asked Ethan about it who replied confidently and correctly that it was a lemony sauce made with a lot of garlic and it is served over the fish which is grilled. Which was exactly correct. He was a great waiter in all respects. The dish was the swordfish, boiled halved potatoes, and broccoli. The fish was generously covered with the lemony garlicky gravy, the garlic in large chunks making up maybe 1/2 of the volume. There was plenty enough left over for the potatoes, which I liked for being just boiled and sliced, not mashed. The only flaw was the broccoli. I'm not sure but it tasted frozen, not fresh. That's a shame because there was a lot of it but it wasn't worth eating. So both the appetizer and entree were very good, and representative of Portuguese cuisine. Not innovative or special in any way but this isn't that kind of restaurant. It's upscale but not "fine dining". You can see that in the table settings too: the napkins are white cloth but the placemats are the paper kind with advertisements on them. But it was a nice atmosphere in spite of the Keno machine and many televisions, and the noise level was moderate. The cocktails used mostly standard brands like Bacardi and Stoli, with a few unusual liqueurs added in. I had a Portuguese Cha Frio (Iced Tea) made with Stoli Citron, Licor Beirao (a Portuguese liqueur), unsweetened tea, and lemon. I liked it and it seemed strong enough. The wine list included a few Portuguese ones by the glass. I didn't think my wine very good but I wanted to stick to the Portuguese theme as much as possible. I liked that it was brought in a carafe that still had some left over after Ethan poured my first glass. The espresso was perfect. No disagreeable sour notes, just pleasantly and slightly bitter, an aroma slightly fruity. As for desserts, I don't think they are made in house, and they aren't particularly Portuguese. My cheesecake (was it Crème Brûlée flavor?) was good, with a semi-dry texture, a layer of caramel on top, and a drizzle of something underneath. So overall I was pretty satisfied with Nuno's. 4.5 stars really. To get that 5th star from me they'd only have to improve the broccoli and add ethnic desserts made in house.

To start, we shared the Shrimp Mozambique appetizer: it was big (about 10 shrimp) and the Mozambique sauce was tasty and just spicy enough. For my meal, I ordered my most favorite meal at David's: the Special Seafood Pasta. It's only on the "Specials" menu, and it FANTASTIC. Big scallops, lottsa shrimp, and some surprisingly large chunks of lobster. LOVE IT!!!

There was a large event happening in a separate room, but in the main dining area, only two tables were occupied...ours being one of them. Our waitress took our drink order fairly quickly, but that was the last bit of prompt service we received. We waited about 30 minutes before she returned to take our food order, and only after we reminded another staff member. We didn't get our appetizer until over an hour after arriving, although I will say the linguica clam fritters with the chipotle dipping sauce were absolutely delicious. Our entrées came out about 15-20 minutes afterwards. I ordered the French meat pie and enjoyed it, but everyone else at the table had complaints about their meals, the Alfredo sauce was apparently a letdown, it looked extremely watery. On the other hand, the chicken alentejana was extremely dry. We didn't bring any of these issues to the staff's attention, so I can't speak to how they would have handled it. However, the overall service was disappointing. Our waitress and a few others were visible throughout the visit but not attentive by any means. We even had to go up to her ourselves to ask for boxes and the check. Unfortunately, this visit didn't reflect the great experience I had in the past, I'm not sure if I will be back as this place has seemingly gone downhill.
