Great place to unwind for a late happy hour or weekend evening. The crowd seems to be late 20s and up, which is perfect for us. The beer towers kept flowing and our waitress was friendly and responsive. There's an assortment of arcade machines (Buck Hunter, Golden Tee, etc.), Air Hockey and the ole "Loop on a string hanging from the ceiling that you need to swing over to the hook" game. I don't know what the last one is called but it's good, cheap entertainment. Anyway, the place is a decent spot and I'll be back. I can't believe I have never reviewed Back 9. My husband and I have been coming here since it opened 4+ years ago. Tony is absolutely the best bartender. He remembers our drinks, even when its months since we have been. We love going for football games on Sunday. They are very accommodating to getting audio to our games. We really like the food here, its definitely good bar food. I figure myself a cheese fry connoisseur. The back 9 fries are the best - but everything here is great and we can never decide - The Mexican sandwich, french dip, pizzas, wings, salad, all great! We love the laid back but slightly upscale environment. It can be pretty busy on weekend nights and especially on UFC fight nights, but its always fun - drinks and food are great! This isn't a bad spot if you know you are walking into a dive. It's not super prestine or well maintained, but they have daily specials and pretty friendly staff. We like to go for Car Show Mondays. Half-priced pizza and $3 draft beers. The pizza is well prepared and served up nice and fresh. The mixed drinks aren't bad for the price. I don't th ink I'd ever consider this a regular place that I love to go, but it's not bad. It's a very run of the mill place. Nothing sticks out food, drink or service wise. read more

Its a pretty fun place. They have a lot of games and beer on tap, and their in house pizza is the bomb. (I'm not even a huge pizza fan!) They have poker tournaments a few nights a week which I regularly attend. They also have pool tables, air hockey, 2x4 jenga, Monday car meets, arcade games, and my favorite....ring-on-a-string! Food tasted really stale and recooked(my tenders tasted like they had been redunked in the grease to warm it,instead of making fresh tenders) the drinks barely had alcohol in them, and the sever was super rude. Based in earlier reviews and response from the manager - I think it needs to be clear that this is a smoking establishment. I had been there before and while the service is good, you cannot escape the smoke. There is not a smoking / non smoking section, it is all smoking. First time I had a beer, friendly staff and good service but I did find it difficult to eat with an ash tray on the table. Second time there, I asked about the non-smoking section and was told it is a smoking bar. If you like to smoke, or smoking does not bother you, give it a try. read more

We decided to give this place a try based on convenience and walking distance from our hotel. I ordered a local beer that our server described that would be a bock - similar to Shiner...had to send it back since it tasted terrible. I'm certain that a bock style beer isn't supposed to taste like a berry flavored wine cooler. Maybe the bartender mixed it up... Dinner was a greasy burger and wilted salad. If you're looking for a good cheap fun time out with friends then this is a place to go. The drinks are amazing the prices are good. I usually get a pineapple and vodka and I can only handle about 2 drinks. I've never had drinks made so good like I've had at the Back 9 Sports Bar & Grill. Their happy hour is reasonable. Most appetizers we're half off and drinks were $3.50. Service was great music was great the games they have there are fun. The people and atmosphere are wonderful. Backnine has been our go to place for about 5 years. We love Lucky, Larry, Mario, Sheree, John, Lexus and Jasmine. However, we are not crazy about the changes that are happening. Change is usually a good thing! Not feeling it here! The owners are not friendly at all. We are in there at least once a week, sometimes more, and not one time have they even said hi. If Lucky and Larry should ever decide to leave, we would probably find a new place. The 5 star is for the above mentioned staff! read more

I pass by The Back 9 to and from work everyday, and some of my co workers have stopped by there at lunch and mentioned how good their food was. I always said that one day I would have to stop in and check it out! This past Friday at the office we were trying to figure out where to go for a few drinks once we got off. We ended up going to The Back 9! The atmosphere was great! Lot's of TVs showing sports, even old school video games and XBox 360 at the bar! I ordered the sliders. They were excellent! The staff was very attentive, and little did we know, it was Happy Hour all day that day, (so we ended up staying a little later than planned!) Before leaving I ordered a pizza to take home so I'd have lunch on my day off, and it was great as well! Went here for the first time on Saturday of Superbowl weekend To Watch the UFC fight and I had a blast!!!!!! I Love this place!! The staff and employees are extremely nice and I thought the service was great! It was a super super busy night and my glass was never empty! The food was good too! We had caesar salad and an extra yummy burger but everything on the menu looked good! They also have pitcher's, buckets, and really good specials! There's a nice big bar area you can sit in with TV's, or there's another room with more TV's and air hockey and pool..the very back room is non-smoking so if you are worried about choking on cigarette smoke they have a special spot for ya! They also have giant Jenga and a DJ was there the night we went! I'm def looking forward to coming back here in the summer to watch the big screen from the porch! Can't wait! I've been to Back 9 several times and it's quickly winning me over as the place to watch sports in Addison. During the Rangers post season run this year it was my go to spot to catch a game. Were you there? Did you see a rowdy group in Rangers gear taking Irish Car Bombs every 10 minutes? That was us. We like to party. Come say hi. It's low key with TVs everywhere and it's loaded with various bar games like Big Buck Hunter, Pool, Golden Tee, Oversized Jenga and even Bimini (ring on a string, wall-hooky, whatever you call it). While I've yet to challenge my gut to the 5.5lb Double Monster Muffaletta, their food is pretty damn tasty and priced surprisingly cheap! Besides their $5 weekday lunch specials, they have a selection of hot dogs and fries that are always $5 - my favorite is the sun-dried tomato chicken sausage. . .bet you didn't expect that one did you? I didn't but it's damn tasty. They've also got bratwurst, Polish sausage and the standard beef link. The standard American bar food is there including burgers, sandwiches, all manners of fried goodies, pasta, salads, etc., but my favorite is the pizza. . .specifically the chicken diablo pizza. For $10 you get a small pizza (that's perfect for 2) loaded with alfredo sauce, grilled chicken, fresh jalapeno and some veggies. It's got the heat to make sure you'll keep the bartender busy getting you your drinks in rapid fashion. Now to top it all off - they do brunch on Sundays. After a rough Saturday night, we made it in yesterday looking a little haggard. . .until we were told that they had bottomless mimosas for $10 and also happened to have a special breakfast buffet (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, potatoes, biscuits and gravy) AND a picture with Santa (which after six or seven mimosas became an AWESOME idea) for another $10. $20 for all you can eat and drink? Is this heaven? I piled a plate with eggs, biscuits and more gravy than I care to admit and feasted and drank while watching football. I'm not the biggest fan of Sundays because of what they lead in to, but Back 9 made it a lot more fun than it usually is. read more

I'll just go ahead and reinforce what everyone else has said. The Back 9 is a good place to watch football on a Saturday afternoon, has good food and a friendly staff! The Mexican is a great chicken sandwich to try. Grilled chicken, mayo, avocado, bacon, cheese, etc. I took a bit of the b/f's and loved it. I ordered the Spinach salad and what was pretty good as well! Only thing I didn't like, (and this is an City of Addison problem, not a Back 9 problem),you leave smelling like smoke. Apparently a large number of Addison residents smoke because there was not one person in the bar other than the bf and I that didn't have a cigarette in hand. I've been going to the back 9 since it pretty much opened . It's been my bar for over 6 years and instead of fading out and being just a sports bar like most Addison bars. All walks of life walk through those doors and make for a great people watching fun. The service has always been great except for a few times and well those few times didn't last long. They don't let you walk out with having a bad time and my 3 waitress for now 2 years have always been 3 most consistent women in my life in the last god knows how long but ask for Jordan, Heather, or Jazz you'll always get treated with a smile and polite prompt service. Big Bill, Lucky, and Will and Shari behind the bar make the best drinks in town. Back 9 is the best bar in Addison. Ps you'll at least see Vinnie Paul pop in from time to time. And let's face if Pantera approves then you know it's rule. read more

Went in late afternoon on a dreary Sunday afternoon, so it was lightly attended. Nice surroundings with polished concrete and a minimalist design element too it - not all goobered-up with neon beer signs and chintzy liquor rep freebies. While it was a smaller crowd, they seemed to skew north of 30, maybe 40, so a subdued crowd. Helps when the bartender is a more seasoned gentleman. I heard about "The Monster", a 2.75 pound sandwich. I also heard about the double Monster, which is 2.75 X 2 = 5.5lbs for you math illiterates. In 20:00 I dominated the 2.75lb Monster and fries and a couple of pints of beer. But then I was sick the rest of the day. No fault of Back 9: It's a tasty sandwich. I'll go back because they had a pretty good draft selection, good food, older crowd, and a bit nicer accouterments than much of what is up-and-down Belt Line. read more

Came here to watch UFC and surprisingly it was not crowded. I liked the plethora of TVs and video games. You can also sit outside and watch tv and enjoy the weather. I did not try to the food, however the group I was with did. They said it was par for the course (no pun intended). Went to Back 9 on a friday night with a bunch of friends. Sat outside on the patio and watched projected tv on the building next door. That was so cool!! Great place to relax and order some brews. I went for drinks with friends on a night that wasn't that crowded and we got awful service. Our waitress was rude and slow to take orders & bring drinks, and one of the bartenders was even worse. Come time to pay, mine and my friends' tabs were completely wrong. They charged me for twice as many drinks that I ordered and wouldn't take any of them off. My fiancee and I were looking for a bar where we could have dinner and drinks. We came across Back 9 and decided to give it a try although neither of us had heard of it before. We were both impressed; the place is fairly large and wasn't too packed, although we were there before 10pm on Friday night. We were initially the only people in the large back dining room, but weren't forgotten or overlooked (as can sometimes happen when you're a small group away from the main crowd). Our waitress was very prompt and came by on a regular basis. Although I only drink beer, my fiancee thought her Malibu & Diet Pepsi mixed drinks were pretty solid. I ordered the Double Pepperoni pizza, which came with double pepperoni and double cheese. Although it tasted great, I like my pizza crispy and this one was was a bit too soft and "gooey" for my tastes. There are an abundance of big screen TVs, which makes it a nice place to watch the game. We sat inside, but the TV on the outside wall of the adjacent building was pretty cool! There are also air hockey and pool tables. Be warned...the Back 9 is really LOUD. Normal bar sounds don't bother either of us, but it would a LOT better if they got rid of those stupid over-sized Jenga! games; hearing them hit the floor every 5-10 minutes actually gave the fiancee a headache and we left a bit earlier than planned. That extra clatter really builds up over time and cost them a "Star" on this review. Nonetheless, we had a good time and plan on going back soon. read more

First time visiting Bar 9 for the Mavs playoff game and I was fairly impressed. Great atmosphere to watch the game. Fair amount of tv's throughout. Surprisingly good food for a bar, especially the pizza, very solid. They serve pitchers of beer which was awesome, hard to find these days. Like others have said they show the games on the building next door which is pretty sweet. Wish they had tv's on the opposite wall from the bar for people that sit on the other side of the table. I have been there twice with my family first time it was okay but a second real hurt my feeling cuz the bartender was not very nice to us after my family have left then we were still hang out there cuz not too far from our place. on the end the bill came out $ 30.75 not included tip so we were tips in our credit card for $ 2.25 also in cash for $ 5.00. that's mean we were tips him for $ 7.25. after that the bartender said it was a cheap tips!!!. I'm real mad and never ever want to go back there again! Bad service!!!!. I'm sorry to said like this but it was true from deepest of my heart. Thanks to Yelp for helping me find a Sunday brunch while in Addison. Now aside from this place really smelling like smoke (I was there early on a Sunday after a busy Saturday), everything was clean. I had to kill an hour while traveling in Dallas. I Yelped for Sports Bar Brunch. Omelet was good, Pancakes were as well. Now I wouldn't go hear if I just wanted a kick butt breakfast, but it was solid. Plus they had the NBA Playoffs on. They have lots of TV's to watch any sporting event. Rating is for Bar only, NOT food. We did not order food, so I cannot rate based on that. Went to watch the game, got what we came for. TV sizes were less than expected. Only one pool table and one air hockey table for games. About 10 video games or so. The waitress we had was very attentive. They had a FREE poker tournament that started at 11 - what a blast!
