Is there any place in Addison cooler and better for people watching than The Back 9? I think not. This place has everything from finance nerds to Trent Resnor wannabes all under one roof. I love the energy of this place. Always busy, solid food, cute staff, friendly manager and best of all stiff drinks. As a former bartender, the owner of this place knows how to give you a stiff one. Decided to watch some football, baseball and have something to eat. Definitely worth it, plenty of tv's and the food is surprisingly good for bar food and inexpensive. I had the French dip and my friend had a burger both were tasty and worth the price. read more

We have been here maybe 4 or 5 times and we've only had a good experience once. I think the only reason why we've been back at all is because the location is convenient and my boyfriend isn't very creative when picking places to hang out. However, the last two times we've left to go next door. Here are just a few reasons why you shouldn't come here: 1. The bar top is so sticky and gross that you can't even touch it. It is seriously disgusting (even when they aren't busy). 2. They don't have enough glassware and were serving our draft beers in red solo cups the last time. When I approached the bar to ask for a glass, the bartender got all snarky and threw his hands in the air. It is apparently a crime to ask for real barware at a venue that you're spending money. 3. The smell is unbearable, but always different. Sometimes it's a thick cloud of smoke, other times it's a mix of dirty dish rags and bathroom. Everything you touch is sticky. I guess if you're looking for a dive bar--but want to pay regular prices--you should check this place out. read more

I was attending a UFC event with my friend from the Navy. I was assaulted at the end of the night looking for my friend's jacket. I even lost my own jacket in the process. I was assaulted by a bar patron and laughed at by the staff. They refused to call the authorities and demanded that I sign my tab and leave. read more

Service was awful. But it did appear to be busy. They ran out of pint glasses so it took them forever and a day to serve drinks. I just don't understand how they can run a bar and run out of pint glasses. Food is okay at best. I'm surprised they didn't run out of silverware. Not at all a good first impression. read more

This place is really awesome if you want food poisoning and horrible service. The food is microwaved, the waitresses have horrible attitudes coupled with no service skills. I cannot complain enough. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever endured. I was so hungry from working all day that I had already eaten 3 or 4 wings when I realized they were soaked with grease and chewy....like rubber. I don't know if they under cooked them or if they just contaminated them with some type of bug, but I was sick within 8 hours. I had to stay home the next day. Disgusting. Came here for the first time for a free poker tournament. Was really impressed with the quantity and friendliness of servers, the menu options (all my favorites! Every yummy fried thing you can imagine, sandwiches, apparently homemade pizzas), and the delicious fried pickles. Prices are reasonable. Will definitely be back, despite the cigarette smoke. Your average bar. You can smoke inside and they have a pool table that you probably won't be able to get on if the bar is in full swing. The wait staff was awesome and the drinks were moderately priced...but the clientele...well, it draws all walks of life. We really enjoyed this bar! Good mix of people. They have swings on their porch - we loved sitting in them while enjoying a beer and talking with friends. Had parking attendants, which made me feel safe leaving my car, even though it was an extremely busy Saturday night. You can smoke inside - love it! But it wasn't too overpowering. Lots of good music and tv's showing the music videos. Didn't try the food (we were on a liquid diet that night) but will def return to try. read more

Addison sports bar- good drinks, great bartenders. My boyfriend has lived in Addison for fifteen years and this is one of his preferred haunts. It's one of my favorites in the bunch because although they allow smoking the smoke doesn't fill the space (if that makes sense). I guess they just have an awesome air circulation system. read more

The burgers are awsome and the staff is friendly. It is a little Smokey but other than that fun place.

Decided to try a new spot tonight but we quickly agreed that this is one establishment to which we will not return. Atmosphere: For one, the most obvious, they still allow smoking. My clothes smell awful! My hair reeks and we were only there for 45 minutes...an hour tops! If you can stand the smoke they have some cool video games, Jenga and air hockey that I saw. Patio might be a decent option in the warmer months. Seemed liked regulars fill the bar, at least around happy hour when we stopped in. Drinks: Bartender was a heavy pour so my vodka soda was certainly strong...but too strong for me. Husband ordered a couple of beers...no complaints except for the chipped glass. Didn't bother complaining since we were focused on just getting out of there! Food: Do not come here for the food! Mind you, we only tried the Mac n cheese and Back 9 cheese fries...but how can you mess up cheese-filled food so horribly?? Mac n cheese had no flavor and the cheese fries were extremely peppery. Would not recommend either. Service: Average. I can't blame our bartender for not checking in on my barely-touched drink or horrible food...I wouldn't want to hear the answer either! I totally love a local bar where all the regulars know each other and the food is mostly bar food but this was one place I can't see going back to. read more

I like the fact you can control the jukebox with your iPhone. The monster truck outside is a decoy to the fact this bar is well balanced with all sorts of folks. I highly recommend this bar. The also is very good. read more

Back 9 is a typical Addison bar that benefits from being on belt line road ( the main road in Addison where all the young bars are). If you get drinks from the Bartenders service tends to be good, if you get drinks from the waitresses your experience will be hit or miss due to horrible people management. There's drink specials on Sunday's and Tuesday's, and there used to be a bikini night on Wednesday. read more

The food is good but service is awful. Our waitress was dancing around and on her phone nearly the whole time. She spilt a beer on the table and it took about 5 minutes for her to come clean it up. We waited 30-45 minutes just for the food which we've ordered and had delivered faster with UberEats. I'm from out of town but have a friend that djs there so I stopped in with a date to support him. Place advertises happy hour all day on Friday (drinks and 1/2 price appetizers) everywhere, even on their website. The waitress, Breanna, told my date happy hour was only until 7 and that she couldn't get half off. To her credit she did at least ask for me and despite me showing the manager the website he said the same. It is not about the money at all just the fact that they wouldn't honor what they advertise. Going back and looking at the website it is just more confusing than anything and nothing that a set of parenthesis can't fix. Overall the place does seem fun if you're not a smoker and enjoy talking fairly loud to the person next to you. The music was actually pretty good mix of old and new. Service was a bit slow but I can look over that because they were decently busy. Not a place I would visit normally and this is coming from someone that works in and around nightclubs and bars. Kind of had the "you need me" feel to it when no place, especially in Addison, should even almost have that attitude. read more

I like the low key atmosphere of this place. Its a great place to watch a game with friends. The prices were reasonable and the specials were more than reasonable - during Happy Hour they were running half off the appetizers plus the pitchers of beer were on special. We have been going to Back 9 for a couple of years now, and have gone there for most if not all UFC fights since we started. I will say that after the experience we had there this past Saturday night, we will never be back. We got there about 8:20 and met 2 friends on the patio. We brought our 14 year old son with us because frankly anytime my 14 year old wants to hang with me, I'll jump at the chance. It's few and far between these days. This isn't the first time he's been on their patio, but it is the first time he's been there for a UFC fight. We get there and the waitress comes out and offers for us to move 2 tables together so the 5 of us can sit more comfortably and see the fight on the building next door better. We thank her, get the tables put together and order some drinks. We start watching the fights, she brings us refills and we order food. At about 9:00, the Manger brings our food out, walks back in and we start eating. A few minutes later the waitress comes back out and tells us, that the Manager just told her that because our son is a minor he can't be there past 9:30 and that we'll have to leave. She does apologize and say she should have told us when we came in and that the Manager had just gotten on to her about it. She then tells me she thinks it's a TABC rule Huh? He's been at Fox & Hound past 9:30 watching sporting events with us, so I'm thinking maybe it's a Town of Addison ordinance. I googled it, and don't find anything on line that says that, so I ask to speak to the Manager so I can find out what's going on. He comes out and I explain that we've never had an issue any other place and I don't understand what's going on. The Manager tells me it's their rule, not an ordinance or regulation. I try to explain to him that we came to watch the fights and that it would be very difficult at this point to get in somewhere else to watch them, that we have been very loyal customer's and that we've spent a lot of money there in the past, but he cuts me off, tells me it's their rule and that we have to leave. He then proceeds to walk off while I'm in the middle of a sentence and starts to go back inside. It's at this point that I pretty much blow up at him, tell him that we're not paying and we won't be back ever! We do leave, go to Fox and Hound and were able to get crappy seats that you would pretty much expect that late into the fights. Let me be clear, I have absolutely no issue with this being their rule. They have the right to have any rules they want. My issue is the way it was handled by the Manager. No, "I'm sorry for this. I know it's a huge inconvenience, let me offer some kind of compensation for our mistake". They let us come in, drink and eat and then kicked us out for a rule we knew nothing about in the middle of fights we had been looking for to seeing. I was absolutely floored by the complete lack of accountability and remorse shown by the Manager by us being put in this position through absolutely no fault of our own. It was the most disgusting lack of customer service that I have ever encountered, and I will never patronize an establishment that treats their customer's this way again. read more

Went with five friends after work for a drink and dinner. It was busy, but not packed. We received great service, the waitress was attentive but not buggy...drinks were good, loved the artichoke dip and they had great french fries. Everyone ordered something different, so we all got a taste of the different entrees.....no complaints from anyone! Everything was great.
