Great work and positive experience overall! straight forward communication and quick turnaround.

Amazing service! We were in from out of state. They took the car in within a couple minutes. Had an answer within 10 minutes and had the car back by lunch the next day. The price was reasonable for the work that was done. They had to replace a mount for something in the engine. The three people out front were sincere, helpful and pleasant to deal with. They are now our "go to" in Boulder. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

Doug and Co. at the Auto Repair Place are my new heroes. After my RV suffered yet another rodent gnawing battery wires incident, this team got on the job and carefully deconstructed and reconstructed my dash to replace 30 wires! My RV is back on the road and running great. Thank you for the great service and the price was reasonable. Much less expensive than the dealer! I will be going there for work in the future. Highly recommended! read more

I want to give these guys a compliment! They have been so kind and amazing to me to provide great customer service, good price, and knowledgeable input on their work. I recently needing to do an estimate for my car that I was trying to sell with a friend, she needed a specific estimate on certain things that I did not know till I arrived with my appointment. I was not able to get a service at the moment and they were so kindly explaining the cost of specific things for me what it would be cost, and how the test goes. I had to leave in the middle of it with personal issues. But they were so nice and understanding with my concerns. These guys had years of experiences and very nice to a female like me that had no idea about car. The gentleman that helped me is Dong. Keep up the work guys! Thank you!!! read more

I had great service with Mike and Doug, Made an appointment for a front end alignment, scheduled quickly, my only car, so I couldn't wait all day , they got it done quickly and very fair price. Thank you! read more

This place is great! I went for just an oil change, but when my car's alert indicated a brake flush was due, they called me to ask if I wanted it done at this appointment or the next one. That's because the technician checked out a variety of things on my car. My tires are propelyr inflated and my fluids were topped off as needed. Truly a top notch operation! My family and I have come here for years because we trust them to do things right! We have brought in Hondas, Toyotas, my beloved Saab that I had for 13 years thanks to them, and now a BMW. Thanks, Auto Repair Place! read more

I love these guys. 2nd time for oil change, great price and excellent service. Today I needed a repair. Not only are the guys great (thank you Doug) but everything is transparent and well explained. AAA membership accepted. All around I feel safe with them working on my car, Zerg, and really like the people. A definite recommendation. read more

Had my 2006 Ford Focus serviced here right before a 2 week road trip. They gave me a breakdown of all the things that needed to be fixed, nothing dangerous but would need to be done soon. Mike helped me over the phone and we went through a picked all the things we thought were most important. I got some fluid checks, new tires, AC fixed and a rear brake repair. They communicated with me so well throughout the 3 days my car was there. My car ran great and I had no problems on my road trip through Colorado. My car drove 2,000 miles in 2 weeks exceptionally! Throughout my road trip my front brakes started to feel horrible, which wasn't a surprise since it was on the initial list they gave me of things I should get fixed. When I got back I brought it right back to them to get the brakes repaired, headlights replaced and an oil change. Doug worked with me and kept me well informed on my cars status and they had it all done in a day. My car is running great because of them! Thank you guys!! read more

I dropped my work van off a few days ago. They told me they'd have a look at it that day. After "running several tests" they concluded that I needed a battery. Well a few days went by am I'm literally stuck on the side of the road again with the same issue I was having before I gave them hundreds of dollars. I understand that sh*t happens, but I really wish they'd done a more thorough diagnostic originally. I think this shop is used to dealing with the Boulder elite with deep pockets and forgot all about the working class man. read more

The Auto Repair Place - Auto Repair Near Me - Boulder, Colorado

I made a 9AM appointment for today online, and the booking states that they'd send a confirmation email or call me. I didn't receive either so I called this morning at 8AM and asked to just check to make sure I was scheduled and good to go. The guy that answered literally raised his voice at me and was like "We literally just opened 5 minutes ago, I'm a tech short, and there is a line of people in line". Like he was actually mad that I was calling to double check if I should come in. No wonder you're a tech short you literally just yelled at me on the phone due to your stress? Dude definitely gave me "I yell at my wife" vibes. I would never take my car here. Just close your books for the week or be nice and say "Sorry, I can't get you in". Seriously not okay that I just randomly got yelled at. Go somewhere else and support better business practices. read more

Making this my new auto place! Needed new rotors and brake pads, but was having trouble finding a reliable place in Boulder that would give me a fair price. Doug and the team were very helpful and kind. Fair price and timeline. Great customer service. Will be returning! read more

On my road trip from Texas up to Wyoming and then back south through Colorado, I got a flat tire on I-70. The next morning I took the car to the Discount Tires in Boulder where they told me that I should get my alignment looked at (after they charged me $300. what kind of a discount is that?). I took it to the place they recommended, but they couldn't even look at the car until Tuesday (this was a Thursday), which was no good, so I got that place to send me somewhere else and they sent me to wonderful 28th Street Garage. Kit helped me out. I explained my dilemma and he managed to check out my alignment immediately. He also sent me and my friend across the parking lot to get some breakfast while we waited. They looked at it and determined that Honda had screwed up big time and called the dealer for me and basically got things arranged (except for the drop off time etc.) and sent me on my way free of charge. They were very friendly and honest with me about what was going on with my car and I'm glad they didn't try to tell me they could fix it themselves or anything crazy like that. They also printed off an explanation of the problem so I could take it with me to the dealer. AND Kit and I had a few laughs about how the Prius looks like a hamster. It was awesome. Only 4 stars because they didn't actually do anything, but they were so friendly and willing to help me out immediately that I wish I could give them 4.5. read more

Great team and always willing to work with you on schedule and provide guidance that you can trust.

The staff at the 28th Street Garage are friendly, efficient, and trustworthy. I am also very pleased that they have a car service, so that you can drop off your car and go to work, or go to the mall. Our SUV was sputtering, and it turned out to be an arcing problem with the spark plug cables. While there, we had them do some fluid maintenance. The car now runs great, and while the prices are only very slightly higher than average I would choose their service over any other place in Boulder because of the rapport I felt with all of the staff I met. ~taramis read more

I only found The Auto Repair Place about 6 months ago and I am so bummed I didn't find it sooner. Their customer service is top notch. They don't try to persuade me to pay extra for additional services, where who knows if they are necessary. They are honest and tell it like it is. They were able to fit me in quickly one morning when my car was acting off. They even gave me a fresh cut flower when I picked up my car. I highly recommend The Auto Repair Place for a smooth, stress free experience. read more

As a DIY RV owner/operator..(when possible), I fully respect the skilled expertise of the mechanics and the specifications by service re: diagnostics; this involved rather involved electrical system inspection/repair. read more

As a college student on a tight budget, I am always wary of seeing mechanics. Mike and Paul are highly are extremely aware, compassionate, and honest when dealing with me. They always call and give me price estimates and options before doing the work so I know exactly what is going to be done and how much it costs. The work is always done well and the prices are fair. I highly recommend these guys to anyone who is uncertain about where to go for car-work in Boulder. read more

My son rear-ended someone in his little '04 Dodge Neon. Auto Repair Place didn't give an estimate after I'd had it towed there because the hood wouldn't open and they didn't want to risk bending it so it couldn't be closed after. The referred me to a body shop who did an estimate while it was still at Auto Repair Place. Too expensive, so the car was totaled. Auto Repair Place kept my car on their lot for 2 days w/o charging me. When I showed up with a tow dolly they helped me load up the Neon, something I'd never done before. They were kind, helpful, and went above and beyond, never charging me a dime. read more

What a wast of my money and time! Hell I believe that these guys are shadetree mechanics. I was raised to tell the truth and I caught them in many differnt stories. They will never touch my go cart again! read more

This place had my truck for two weeks to fix a problem. After poor communication, unauthorized repairs and $1300, my truck is worse then when I initially dropped it off! When I called to tell them I was having problems with their supposed repair, they refuse to make me a priority to set things straight. This is by far the worst business I've ever had to deal with! read more

I took some new rotors in to have bearing races pressed into place for a restoration project yesterday. I was thinking I would have to leave them for a couple of days knowing it's a small project. I went here for all of my services while living in Boulder after I ran out of free oil changes from my dealership. They handled everything from oil changes to snow tire mounting and balancing to more complicated things like replacing my alternator and having Hyundai-specific electronics ordered and installed. Everything was done quickly and professionally, and I usually could count on a ride to or from work when dropping off and picking up my car. read more

This shop is great!! I brought my Subaru WRX in for service on short notice and these guys did an outstanding job of fitting me into their schedule and helping me out. The service I needed was not standard, but they were very patient with me and took plenty of time to explain all of their work to me. Their pricing is very fair and they are honest about how long a job takes. I spoke with about four people from their team today and each of them were extremely polite, kind, and professional. I strongly recommend this repair facility and I plan on returning! Thanks guys! read more

Excellent service and fair pricing! Very good experience here! Customer service is clearly important to the team here!

Do not go to this mechanic! My subaru had a broken oil gasket and blown out spark plugs and they seemed as if they could fix it so easily. After paying about $500 and driving it for a month, the exact same problem came back. After taking it to a new dealership mechanic, they told me that the new spark plugs that were put in were the completely wrong ones that do not fit the car. So pretty much I put $500 down the drain just to have it fixed again. read more

Here my bad experience with The Auto Repair Place. I have an old Dodge Caravan 3.8L (1999) that has had several problems, including water pump, axels, and now, starter engine. My minivan didn't want to start, so I called AAA and took my car to the Auto Repair Place, where I took it several times before. I spent there more than the value of my car. They told me that it was a starter problem, and they needed to change it for a remanufactured one. They wanted to charge me $220 for the parts (starter). I quickly took a look in the nearest auto parts shop and figured out that the starter only costs $90, with lifetime guaranty. So I decided to buy it myself and take it to the guys of Auto Repair Shop to install it. No problem. They put it in, called me, and when I got there the car wasn't starting, with the exact same problem as before. They told me it was the starter again! And they wanted to charge me AGAIN for the labor! I argued them for a while and they installed me another starter for free. A month later, my car has the exact same problem! I called them and they told me it is my fault, because it is a problem with the part. They didn't even try to think that maybe the problem is not in the starter itself, they just told me that they will charge me again to put a new starter, that would be the 4th in a month! I decided to fix it MYSELF, since these guys didn't want to listen to me, they just wanted to charge me over and over. I did a little bit of research, and concluded it could be something wrong with the cables going from the battery to the starter. It is a very simple circuit. I cleaned all the connections and carefully tighten everything again, and voilà! My car is working again! This means that these guys made a wrong diagnosis not once, BUT TWO TIMES! They charged me for something that my car didn't need. They could't fix my car, and after that they didn't help me to solve my problem, I had to do it MYSELF because these guys didn't even think that when a part fails 3 times in a row, maybe, only maybe, there is nothing wrong with it and they need to look somewhere else. Really unprofessional people. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would but this is by far one of the worst mechanics I have EVER been too. For starters I guess asking for a visual inspection of my breaks means taking apart my entire car apart (which took them 4 hours) just to tell me that they cannot replace my breaks together meaning I had to pay $800 on the spot for them only to fix my front breaks. The estimate they gave me only gets funnier.. $72 to change my windshield wipers.. HA! I ended up having to get my car towed since it was undriveable due to the incompetence the men had and took it to a better auto body shop where they told me half the things The Auto Repair Place was trying to get me to pay for was total bullshit and they were just trying to have me pay more money. I will never recommend this shop to anyone and I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau since they made my car unable to drive when all I came in for was an inspection. I would like to say I am livid but that would be an understatement. read more

All around a terrible experience. We brought in our conversion van due to a high pitched squealing noise and a check engine situation. We first noticed the noise on a trip back from Wisconsin. By the time we reached Colorado we could barely accelerate up hills without hearing the noise, as well as the AC stopped putting out cold air. These problems seemed to signify a driving belt problem, or possibly something bigger. We brought the van into the shop on a Monday. They proceeded to tell us that they could find nothing wrong with the van and could not get the noise to start. We promised them there was something wrong as we almost didn't make it home and also heard the noise before dropping the van off that morning. They kept the van another two days, all while not communicating with us, and again claimed there was nothing wrong. We picked up the van today and was told it would be $180 for the "work" they did diagnosing a problem they say didn't exist. We got the ridiculous price down to $125 and drove off. Low and behold within 10 minutes of driving it the check engine light is back on and the squealing is worst than ever. I can't forget to mention they also used over a 1/4 tank of our gas and did not reimburse us for that. Mechanics are always hit or miss, but this experience was a new low for this profession. They either are terrible at their jobs here or just plain crooks. Either way I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy! Honestly, Craigslist mechanics are your best bet! Have not failed me yet. read more

Came in for a simple spark plug change and ended up with a ridiculous amount of problems. I believed the mechanic and had most of them fixed for a very high price. 2 weeks later my spark plugs are giving me problems yet again. Took it to another shop and they said that not only were the replacement plugs low quality, but they were also cracked and not suited for my car. This place is pricey, slow, condescending, not trustworthy, and incompetent. Take your business elsewhere. read more

The guy my wife dealt with (Paul) is as unethical and unprofessional as it gets. She brought her car in for an estimate of a number of problems, and had given approval to fix the inoperable window. Without approval they installed a new battery at close to $260!!, stating after the fact that the existing battery was in poor shape. When confronted about this, Paul stated it was a "special" battery. As in he "specially" knows how to con people. He had zero response as to why they did not inform us to give them authorization, prior to putting in an extremely overpriced battery / The car was finished on Monday and they did not contact us until that Wed. afternoon. They sent a message saying they were going to start charging for storage if it wasn't picked up immediately. Paul additionally stated that it had been there for a month and a half, when it had actually been there for three weeks, due to them having to order parts. Again when Paul was confronted about the threat to tack on storage charges, he had no response to what the facts were. / Prior to drop off the car had been thoroughly cleaned and was now a mess (pictures to verify). / We will be following up with a complaint to the BBB. Paul is the type of person that gives good repair shops a bad name. read more
