I have taken three vehicles (2016, 2012 and 1984) to Legacy over the past several years. From basic oil changes to brake pads to a new starter to differential work, Legacy seems to be able to handle big and small repairs. I've said "not now" to some suggested repairs saying "let's keep an eye on it", and then later get work done as needed. They generally can schedule repairs quickly and the customer communication is excellent. The management and employees have been in the Boulder area for a long time. I'm satisfied with the quality work and don't need to try searching for a less expensive alternative. Legacy Automotive was great! The clutch in my 2003 Tacoma went out in the MIDDLE of a move when I really needed it. Every other shop I called was either booked or super expensive but Legacy understood my predicament and squeezed me in (as a new customer!). My family had been going to these people for years ( nit always at this location, we used to go to Gean's but mint of the staff have moved over to here when the other closed). Every one there is friendly and very knowledgeable about all types of cars! My only thing is that they do take a long tube to get the repairs done, that cobra with 2 sides on the one hand I feel like they are slow but on the other hand they made sure to check that everything is working. read more

Terrible quality of work. We took our truck in for EGR service after a brand new EGR valve we replaced didn't fix the problem. They said the manifold needed to be cleaned so they did that and reinstalled the EGR valve. 1000 miles later, the EGR failed, requiring us to have the truck towed to them and we paid full price for them to replace the brand new EGR valve for what they said was a "faulty EGR" valve. Upon inspection it is clear to see that the EGR valve failed because of debris caught in the valve which kept it from closing. The debris must have come from their cleaning process. They also overfilled the engine coolant (despite a huge warning on the coolant chamber "DO NOT OVERFILL", and we just learned when we tried to replace the oil that they removed and discarded the removable Oil filter cap when they installed an oil filter assembly. This place is by far the place to go in Boulder. I went to a different shop because my Subaru Impreza needed some work and came here for a second look. They saved me a little more than $1000 and they fixed it perfectly. This is the second time my wife and I take our cars to them, last year we took our Land Rover and they also did a great job. Also, I have to compliment their service. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and if that wasn't all they even have cars for you to use while your car is being fixed. You might have to wait a few days to get your car in the shop since they don't work during the weekends and they're completely booked, but that only confirms the great service they have. read more

I have a '96 Bronco that became disabled after a starter motor issue rendered it undriveable. The catch is that I lent it to a disabled family member that needs assistance with many things in life that can go wrong. At the time, I was in California and had to rely on a garage, sight unseen, to diagnose and repair the Bronc and get her drivable again. I arranged a tow to a garage in Boulder that could not fix the problem. I then arranged for a tow (Marv's, fair price and fast) to pick up my vehicle from one garage (I will not name) and take it to Legacy. The guys there are as busy as any good garage in Boulder, but diagnosed the electrical problem, and did some other needed work at a fair price and within short notice. My family member was able to pick up the vehicle and get out to the mountains where he works. If your looking for an honest place that will fix your problem I recommend the guys at Legacy. read more

Very disappointed in the service here and felt taken advantage of. I told the receptionist exactly what part was not working and all they had to do was locate the problem. The fix would have been $20 if they replaced the tube, but that wasn't needed so they simply reconnected it and charged me $100 for "labor". I was not consulted before work was done to the car and for the time they spent (less than an hour) on the car, the price was very steep. The receptionist was sassy/rude on the phone and not helpful. I wish these Yelp reviews didn't lead me to believe I would be taken care of. Instead I was overcharged and frustrated with the lack of communication! read more

My right front window of my 2005 Toyota was not going up and down consistently and I once had that same problem from another toyota which was the regulator... At that time I had taken it to the Toyota dealer and it cost me over $600 I figured a local body shop would know how to fix this and the owner of this body shop said that he could fix it but the shop down the street (legacy automotive ) "Can do it a lot faster. Josh is wonderful" So to make a long story short the problem was the regulator and the total fee was $175 which included tax... By the way. I was referred to Legacy Automotive by Laurie from Hoshi Motors (the other best automotive repair shop in Boulder) when she couldn't fit me in for my broken driver's side window. She spoke very highly of Legacy and explained they are currently little-known because they recently underwent a name change from Fuji Motors. Legacy got me in ASAP with a loaner car and replaced my window system for what seemed to me to be a very good price. When I told my (very frugal) dad about the price, he said he'd paid twice(!) that for the same work and parts with his own very honest mechanic back on the east coast. Feels good to beat dad! The window repair was done within the day and is working beautifully. It's going to be tough choosing between Legacy and Hoshi in the future. Highly, highly recommended! Don't bother with other places like Haglin. Update 12/27/2015: I still go here for all my car's needs. I just love Legacy. My Accord is 10 years old and every year that I've had it (in NY, RI, FL and CO), before I found Legacy, I've spent thousands in repairs that auto shops told me I 'needed' and I don't know enough about cars to disagree. Whenever I bring this car into Legacy and there's a potential problem, either due to a noise I heard or something they've found, they take a wait and see approach. They tell me to wait it out and see if the changing temperatures is causing the anomaly, and we'll check again next oil change. What the hell other auto place does that? If I'd taken my car to Haglin or any other shop and said I heard a noise, you can be sure I'd be walking out with a $400+ bill no matter what. I have 10 years of proof. I just bought a house in Westminster and I will always still be driving the 30 minutes to Legacy for my car, they have totally won me over. I recommend them to anyone. I have taken both my Subaru Outback and Nissan Xterra in for repairs. The Sube repairs were pretty routine - brakes and suspension. Done right the first time, finished when promised and cheaper than the dealer. The Nissan issues were a bit trickier and took a couple of visits to fix. Joshua took the time to find out what was really wrong in each case and did not charge for the work that did not fix the problems. I'm sold on this shop as the place to go in Boulder. read more
