The Attic Door is one of my favorite places I have visited in Winter Garden. My sister introduced me to this place when I moved here and I am always impressed when I dine here. They have the coolest decor--curtains draped on the walls, an eclectic but comfy arrangement of furniture, and they often have live music playing. My husband and I tried the date night menu this week. It comes with an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert for $60! We got the flatbread, meatloaf, and strawberry bread pudding. We ate the strawberry bread pudding too quickly to take a picture, but everything was delicious. The people who work here are super genuine and kind. Love all the staff here. Winter Garden doesn't have a lot of wine bars, but this one is just wonderful. Small and quaint with rustic decor, a small staff that is extremely attentive and knowledgeable, and a vast wine menu as well as local beers. Perfect for get togethers, date nights, or just time with yourself and a good book. The list of reds, whites, and sparkling wines is extensive and range in regional origins. Seriously, there is a bottle for any taste in this place. The food is also fresh prepared and amazing. We weren't too hungry so decided to grab a charcuterie board to pair with our wine. This is a relatively small restaurant in a strip mall like building. Open the front door to a charming atmosphere. Quiet despite it being a full house. The staff are friendly and make you feel at home. Literally. Felt like we were visiting family without the arguments. Attentive, friendly, and able to anticipate our needs before we knew we had them. The food is simple and delicious. Flavorful standards and a few unusual surprises thrown. I had Sheppards Pie. I know, feels like a dish you make yourself to empty the refrigerator. Not here. For your entertainment and information, I am bringing you decent food and good service in a bit boring and somewhat inside voice atmosphere. Live music is there, but the music seemed to be quite soft. You may think this weirdness has brought you to the Twilight Zone or Futurama's The Scary Door. But no, you have actually entered Winter Garden's The Attic Door. Introducing the protagonist, myself, having dinner at 8pm on a Saturday. I made a reservation using OpenTable. Upon entering, I got seated immediately at the small table in a corner near the bar area. I was given water immediately and found out that cocktails are not served, so I settled on a crafted tropical fruit cider for 8 dollars. It was by Kopparberg and tasted fruity without being sour. There was only 4 percent alcohol content, so it felt like that a kid lightly tagged me and said that's it. For food, I was informed the pulled pork stacker (15 dollars) would be the most filling. It came quite quickly, and as an appetizer size, which should have been shared. But it was small enough for me to eat the whole thing. There was an ample amount of pulled pork with coleslaw, chives, fried onions, and a good amount of pickled jalapenos. It was on top of creamy polenta. I was asked first if I liked jalapenos and after telling them that I really enjoyed them, it looks like they provided an extra amount of them. The pickling took away most of the heat, and the polenta helped balance it as well. The pork was tender and had a light bbq flavor. The dish was quite filling without making me stuffed. Thus I decided to try the banana foster bread pudding (10 dollars) for dessert. It took a while because it came directly from the oven. It was presented in a skillet, which I wasn't informed that it would be quite hot. The bread pudding was ok and surprisingly on the lighter side without being too sweet. The brandy sauce could have been stronger as I didn't really taste the spirit (pun intended). The highlight were the bananas as they are sweet and very tasty from being brulee'd by a torch. My server was friendly and informative. He helped me choose wisely from the menu so I can feel full without being stuffed. I was however surprised that my main dish came quickly while my dessert took time. The dining room area was a bit small and can get crowded, especially during the time when there is live entertainment. One room has a bar with some seating areas, while the other room is more for the lounging and kitchen area. Next to the entrance is where the musician plays. When I was there, it looked to be a guitarist playing boring soft rock music. During the breaks, it was the same type of music piped softly from the soft conversational background by the guests. While it wasn't too quiet, you can feel the library or guesthouse vibe from the patrons using their inside voices. And the library vibe continued from the amount of books in the bar, the drapes from the ceiling and windows, and the lounging area that is comfortable enough to read books. There was a small outdoor seating area in the front for people watching, and enjoying the cars passing by. If you are lucky, you can park directly in the street and walk to the restaurant. However, most likely you will find easier parking at the free garage nearby. Reservations are recommended when there is live entertainment as waiting can be up to an hour without one. From the decent food and service in a library like atmosphere that has music and patrons using their inside voices, the weirdness can make one feel like being in the Twilight Zone or Scary Door. But instead, you are actually in the Winter Garden's B Rated bistro, The Attic Door. read more

Drove 3 and a half hours north to this area for my 32nd birthday and this was the first place we stopped to eat. What an absolute gem! The atmosphere is calm and cozy. There was live music, but it wasn't loud and added to the vibe of the restaurant. We had the deviled eggs (which are a must!) And the spinach dip. Deviled eggs were unlike your typical deviled egg, these were bursting with flavor! The spinach dip was very good and cheesy, chips were fresh. For our entrees we got the smoked salmon Flatbread which was unlike anything I've ever had before. Was light, zesty, tangy and crispy. We also got the mushroom fricassee pappardelle pasta which was literally to die for. An absolute must if you come. Had lots of variety of mushrooms, and all the flavors worked really well together. Disappointed. I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past for its food and live music, so I was excited to bring friends to showcase how great it is. Unfortunately, this visit was far from my expectations. The ribeye was one of the worst cuts I've ever had--tough and flavorless. The risotto was undercooked, and it wasn't just my plate--another family at our table had the same dish, and theirs was equally hard and uncooked. The saving grace was the salmon, which was as excellent as always. After paying the bill (as I didn't want it to seem like I was avoiding payment), I spoke to the manager, who seemed genuinely surprised and apologized. I hope this was just a one-off experience, but it left me disappointed after what has previously been a favorite spot. Plus on the bruschetta, I always ask w/o garlic and yes the mix already include small amount of garlic, but I get a different bread, this time the waitress said they could not even change the bread. This is one of the most adorable, cozy, and relaxing places on Plant Street in Winter Garden. There generally is live music in the evenings, the seating is comfortable, there is plenty of service people to help with wine, beer, and tapas orders. Over the last couple years, the menu has been improving exponentially. Many delightful, mini sandwiches, and food. I definitely recommend you try this place. Really a cool spot in downtown Winter Garden for a quick happy hour or light sit down meal! My husband and I love to sit on the patio when it's nice out and get a couple glasses of their house wine. They always have a creative dinner specials and desserts. One of our favorites is their creme brulee we have had funky flavors like carrot cake and sweet potato pie! There tends to be an older crowd here but that can be typical of a wine bar. The Attic Door is one of my favorite happy hour spots for drinks in downtown Winter Garden, and I often find myself staying for dinner and music as well. I have gone a few times, and each tie the experience is a little different. Service is always on point, and the fun quirky decor is a welcome change from the ultra modern vibe of everything else on Plant Street. You can tell this joint has been around for some time. The drink prices are great - that's why we come. But we have never felt the food is a good value. The portions are small and everything is overpriced, even for tapas. I really knocked a star off because every time I've tried to make a reservation for a large group, it has either been impossible to get a hold of anyone, or we have been turned away due to not having enough seating at specific times of the night, even if I'm calling months in advance. I know they have changed their system recently, but it's still not large-group friendly, even booking online. So I would say if you have a large group, this isn't your spot. But if you want a change of scenery and to enjoy some good music and cheap(er) drinks, check it out! read more

Great place for afternoon tea. I was so excited to hear that under new ownership they would offer afternoon tea on the weekends. I am a big fan and I am always on the hunt for a new spot. The tea selection is all Flordia local and very versatile list. We went with the Earl Grey Lavender and Lavendar Citrus Sage. These were both excellent choices. They only offer a preset afternoon tea menu but that is exactly what we would have ordered anyways. I would make a suggestion maybe down the road offering a couple tiers for guests who want the whole afternoon tea and a lighter option. (Just a thought) Now on the food. It was a tasty three tiered array of goodies. They had four different finger sandwiches our favorites were the curry chicken on raisin bread (great combo of flavors) and the cucumber cream cheese (the flavor was amazing just needed a few more peices of cucumber for me personally). The second tier was filled with smoked salmon with cream cheese and spinach tarlets and my personal favorite golden raisin scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. The scone is the best part so I always save it for last. These scones crumbly with the right amount of denseness. The third and final tier was a good mix of sweets. I personally loved the vanilla cake with apricot citrus filling topped with a light whipped cream. They also had macaroons and chocolate truffles. Overall it was a wonderful experience and a relaxed comformable setting. Afternoon tea in the center of Winter Garden is a great addition to the community. We will be back for sure. read more

I wish there were more places like Attic Door around. This is a great wine bar/ lounge that serves food tapas style and has a wide assortment of wines to choose from. We stopped in before an event in Downtown Winter Garden. They have outdoor seating, which is a great place to sit and people watch. Inside the decor is very eclectic with a very cool, relaxing vibe. Most of the tables are small (think bistro style or cocktail table but low to ground). Most seating is for small parties, but they do have areas wheee you can easily accommodate a larger group. Chairs a comfortable, most are upholstered club-type chairs where you can sit back and relax. It's a perfect setting to relax and unwind and catch up with friends. Or to come after a dinner date and have another glass of wine. Most of the food is tapas style which makes them perfect to order several to share with your party. We had the salmon plate which was really good and went well with the house Cabernet we ordered. My photo doesn't show how much there was but there was ample amounts of smoked salmon. It also came with a cream cheese spread, capers, red onion, tomatoes and chopped hard boiled egg. I would definitely order this again. We also ordered the Tuscan Bruschetta, which I wasn't too impressed with so not sure I'd order that again. The Cheese Board had a nice selection of cheeses and we also ordered another item - I think it was flatbread - that had avocado, which was really good. This was a fun find in the heart of downtown Winter Garden's historic district. They are a wine bar with some small bites and desserts. We opted to sit outside on the patio since it was a cooler afternoon and we wanted to take advantage of the good weather. If you sit on the outdoor patio, they ask that you order inside at the bar. They will bring your order out to you and take payment from there as well - it's just the ordering part! The waitress was really nice, and made a great recommendation for wine offerings.
