We went here on a recommendation from our resort. As we walked in two small groups were leaving and told us we would never get waited on, that they had been sitting back there for 15 minutes and had not seen a waiter. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt we waited for the hostess. The first person told us there wasn't any clean silverware. The second person asked us how many from across the room. The third person asked us if we had reservations to a mostly empty restaurant. The owners of this establishment might be concerned that they lost 3 groups within 15 minutes. I know I would. Dinner was amazing. We had fried green tomatoes, red pepper soup, salmon salad, and the seafood pasta. They brought fresh bread which was also very tasty. Service was great. Server made a great wine recommendation which paired well with the seafood pasta. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star is because they were out of lobster bisque and the beer my husband asked for. I would recommend to anyone. The building is really cool too! read more

The Attic is probably my favorite restaurant in Clarkesville - always good food, and always great service! The daily specials are also usually very good! The past couple times, we were served by Kristy, and she is absolutely the most delightful server I've had at any restaurant in a long time. Visiting the area from Florida. Nice little place, the wait was supposed to be 15-20 minutes; we were seated in 15 and ordered, but the wait for the meal ended up being an hour and a half. The wait was long but our waiter kept coming around, checking on us, filling our glasses, and apologized explaining that they were 3 short in the kitchen staff. Once we did get the food it was good...nothing super fantastic... but good. I'm thinking that the wait probably tainted our food experience. To start off, this place is adorable. I stopped here on my way to Minnehaha Falls in search of a quick lunch. Service was quick and good, nothing extraordinary. Our server checked up on us a couple times. I had the buffalo chicken wrap with mashed potatoes. I believe it was about $10. The wrap was alright, it had fried chicken tenders but it could've used more buffalo sauce. I wasn't getting much of a buffalo wing-type flavor. The mashed potatoes were soft and creamy, but they could have used something - salt, pepper, seasoning, herbs, whatever. They were pretty bland. My dad had the chicken philly with sweet potato fries. Once again, his food was pretty bland as well. The food was also quite oily for my health-conscious taste. The presentation was great, but the food's taste did not match up to its appearance. I checked Yelp prior to eating here, and over reviewers seem to have had entrees that I didn't see on the lunch menu. I'm guessing The Attic has separate lunch and dinner menus. I'm not sure if the lunch menu is necessarily worth it, but dinner might be better. read more

Excellent. My most favorite restaurant ever!!! Great menu, with a wide variety of menu choices- from good salads to soups to great apps & lots of dinner choices! Best fried shrimp I have ever had! Brought family of 5 in for early dinner after church and restaurant had only a few customers. The wine menu we were given had what looked to be a piece of cheese smashed between the pages. After a long wait, our entrees came out in waves. 1st wave was stuffed trout (excellent), kid's chicken tenders (overcooked) and hamburger steak w/ mashed potatoes (both barely lukewarm). 5 minutes later, 2nd wave came with barely edible roasted red pepper soup. 10 minutes later, my daughter's Mac 'n Cheese (good) arrived - 5 minutes later her fries arrived. The waitress was personable and attentive, but kitchen quality & coordination is horrible. 2 adult entrees (1 hamburger steak), 2 kids meals & a bowl of soup and price was $100. Walked in on a Saturday and was promptly given a seat. Wait staff was attentive and parking was convenient. We came in about 5:30. The food...Excellent! I ordered the trout and my husband ordered the meat loaf. Everything was perfect. Also, the prices are very reasonable. Btw, the meat loaf serving is huge. 2 adults and 2 kids, Saturday night at 6 pm, Memorial Day weekend. Bottom Line up front: great location but this is a last resort. Pro: Waiter was attentive and polite. Con: 1. Decor resembles a hasty converted Chinese Restaurant. 2. They use styrofoam and plastic cups. 3. My beer glass had a large sharp chip on the top of the glass. 4. Served up a giant hunk of warm bread but no butter and a hasty balsamic and olive oil mix without any additional herbs or seasoning. 5. Table is so small that it was filled to capacity with 4 drinks and 4 small plates forcing my to Tetris/move and arrange the plates the entire time. 6. Kids fries were burnt/over cooked with lots of small pieces of fry. 4/20 were whole, all the rest were the size of a small crayon. 7. Burger bun was not grilled or warmed. 8. Stuffed trout w/cheese was strange. Cheese and fish doesn't mix, our fault for ordering it. Conclusion: Stay away. 2 kid meals, 2 adult meals, 2 beers and 2 teas = $60 for a bad experience. read more

They've got a fantastic philly cheese steak sandwich if you can get someone to bring it to you. We have encountered service issues either getting seated, placing orders, getting a drink refill or check. Every visit we seem to run up upon some issue that detracts from the over all exceptional meal. We're gonna keep trying until they get it is right. read more

Really cool place with an outdoor seating area too. We were celebrating our anniversary so ate what I would call large, in other words we splurged. I had the special filet mignon prepared with mashed potatoes and asparagus, very good, well prepared, nice presentation. My hubby went for the sirloin Creole with shrimp. He felt out was too salty that night but we he had some leftovers he said it was better. Go figure. Key lime pie for dessert was good too. Server, Emma, was attentive. Came here with wifey on our meandering drive home from staying at a B&B near Helen. Several locals during our stay commented that we would enjoy this restaurant. And YES we sure did! Originally we were going to sit outside, but the traffic was a bit noisy for our taste. I could see however how this attractive outdoor seating area would be fantastic in the right circumstances. The decor was fun and kitschy without being fussy and "programmed" like you would find at a chain. We each got a glass of wine. Yes, it was lunchtime but it's 5 o'clock somewhere and we were vacationing, so give me a break. I had the house Pinot Grigio which was clean and crisply tasty. Wifey had some expensive red I don't recall. That's just how she rolls. We weren't up for any appetizers, so we went ahead and ordered. Reuben sandwich for me and a blue cheese burger for wifey. I'm not big into fries so I got broccoli while wifey nabbed some onion rings. My broccoli was cooked just about perfectly for what I was hoping and the onion rings looked pretty killer. I wouldn't know how they tasted since wifey dove into them with a protective gusto which said, "Back off, bucko. These rings are MINE!" I can only assume the taste was agreeable based on how quickly she devoured them. My Reuben was an excellent balance of nice tart sauerkraut and the dressing. Sometimes these sandwiches get ruined with too much goo. This one was excellent. The burger (yes I finally got a taste of something off her plate) was vey good as well. So I sent an email following up and the response back was basically nothing on our menu is that price, they recommended raising my budget. Then ended the email. The person never gave options or asked if I was willing to raise my budget. Clearly they did not want my business. Early on in the email I told the person I was from out of town and then when I did give a budget I said I'm flexible. Being an out of towner means I don't know your pricing. I feel this person just assumed I was broke and blew me off. This is an area I plan to frequent in the future for the next several years. Both were beyond delicious. I have the appetite of a malnourished bird and I still ate my whole meal. I haven't done that in 7 years! My only recommendation would be to employ a sommelier. I travel a lot for work, thus I eat out on the road a fair amount. I try to balance price with quality and in this case both fell short. My night started out with a short pour of my beer which was a bit flat, it may have been a bottle instead of a draft which would cause the issue. What self respecting establishment offers Guinness in a bottle? The dish I had decided on was out. Proper serving etiquette would be to tell the customer this up front. I had the lobster pimento cheese appetizer. The lobster flavor was good, the pimentos appeared to be lacking, I didn't taste them at all. The way the recipe is prepared makes it really really really oily, kind of a gut bomb. Some flour in the recipe would help absorb the oil creating a roux. I don't like to send meat to the trash so I took what was left back to my hotel to pick the lobster out. The bread was good. The salad had good flavor but the greens were pretty wilted for a restaurant at this price level. A half hour after ordering I was notified that their avocados were all "bad" and my dish would be missing a main ingredient. Not wanting to wait for another meal to be prepared I asked for a discount. I was offered a whopping dollar off almost a $40 bill for one person, comping the beer would have been inline with normal restaurant customer service. So much for southern hospitality. The pasta dish was ok, I'm not sure if it was because of the missing avocado but it seemed bland and off balance. Two of the scallops and one of the shrimp were undercooked. If I'm sick tomorrow, I'll know why. read more

What a treat! This converted, circa 20's- 30's Texaco station had a delightful ambience. The decor of eclectic pieces, reminecent of grandmas house. The meal started with fresh baked bread. Lightly crisp crust topped with butter and parmsean; the inside soft and pillowy. Bread served with a balsamic olive oil. Our meal was preceded by a refreshing salad. With, what I assume, was a house made Vidalia onion vinergaette. I could drink that dressing with its little bits of sweet onions! My husband ordered the stuffed trout that was cooked perfectly. Topped with a creamy sauce. I ordered the Korean beef Bulgolgogi. The meat was miost and tender with a lightly sweetened sauce. The only thing that was a little let down was the mashed potatoes. They weren't awful but they weren't as good as the rest of the meal. Reasonably price this quaint, romantic little place was comparable to spending for a good steak at Long Horns. I would definitely recommend making a reservation and visiting this place! read more

We had the spinach artichoke dip with crispy handmade wontons. It was delicious but might have been better with bread as the wontons are not absorbent, resulting in some spillage. Also had the simple pasta which was ok...needed some salt. My husband tried the seafood pasta. It was only fair, but the portion was large, so even a large appetite will be satisfied. On note, we initially asked to be seated outdoors because it was a beautiful evening. However, traffic driving by was very loud and distracting so we asked to move inside which was much nicer. read more
