Been back a few times since and it's like night and day since I wrote the review. Great service from friendly and attentive staff. I think the one woman that worked there has either been fired or gone into the hibernation for which she was obviously more than ready. It's line a different place recently. Nothing but kudos for the place. And many thanks to Rebecca's who took the poor review seriously and reacted in proper owner/manager fashion. read more

I'd give this spot a 4.5. I wish we had 1/2 stars (a complaint I will make until I die or Yelp gives 1/2 stars). I've been here a few times for both work events and personal events. Can't go wrong with one of their classic margaritas. Always good and well made. Great for groups and a more casual hang out vibe during the warmer months with all of the lovely outdoor space. Parking can be tight during peak season and during peak hours so keep that in mind. Regarding the work event - we rented the Kennedy room and they catered an entire dinner with dessert. The food was so good! Not what's on the regular menu and there were lots of options to choose from. Everything was on time and went off without a hitch. Everyone was highly satisfied with the meal and ambiance. Service was friendly and they were so, so helpful to us the whole way through! Overall, this is a great spot especially as the weather warms up. They host lots of events and specials there too so keep your eyes posted on their social media to see what is going on! read more

We used the Wine Room for a business meeting and it was perfect! Quiet, excellent food and wonderful service. The staff loved it!

Pulled pork and burger were both excellent. Great beer list. Fun atmosphere. Hope to be back

Such a cute spot and cute vibe. We had a large group, and they very graciously accommodated us. Our server Eleanor was amazing!

We went in last Wednesday. Although, the place is different for downtown and has a very cool layout. The menu is lacking and leaves a little to be desired. The food we did have was decent. The service was okay but you never want your bartender telling you what you ordered. It's nice to say "oops my mistake" and just give you the correct beer. It's also a bit off putting when another employee is hanging out the entire time flirting at the bar. Hoping to go back on a Saturday or Sunday for another menu and sans the other employee! read more

What an experience, especially if you live here, passing through from skiing or up at the lake, not to mention intentionally making the over one hour drive. They have their own parking lot, you walk into the the open bar where you are welcomed with a beer tap waterfall, you find stairs that lead up to the top which provides two couches around 2 separate fireplaces. The rest of the seating is not accompanied by any heaters (which is weird for outside venue). There are about 20+ beers on tap, including some ciders. As you walk back downstairs, you walk into another space that has a couple of tables to the left is a door.... becareful as the door opens up the alleyway/street.... to the far right in a huge open space... maybe event seating? Right before that door is a 4-wall seating space that seems enclosed and for larger parties.... back to the left is a barrel entrance that opens up to the Whiskey bar. In all areas you can order food on the app or through the servers in the Whiskey room. They offer several drinks... quite a few flights... small wine selection and the beer can only be ordered in the beer room. The food..... one word AMAZING! I ordered what essentially was nachos fries (normally came with waffle fires, but definitely try it with the shoestring fries) which was enough for two people (it was shared).... ordered Sliders (2 different ones available and able to choose 1 and 1)... I tried one and absolutely loved the texture and flavors, well balanced. Didnt get a chance to try the other as it was gobbled up quickly. The shoe string fries were a nice touch and perfectly seasoned. The chicken sandwich was so good my cousin ate the entire thing. Munchkin ate his chicken tenders and was full enough that he didn't finish his fries. Would definitely come back, the atmosphere and food is worth the drive, just gets a bit chilly in other areas (except the whisky room) and the bathrooms were tidy and well kept. Service was super friendly, it can be a bit confusing when you walk in as it is unconventional and after stumbling through the entire place (while we were greeted by staff) there was no direction. So we asked and was gladly provided the information to make our decision for where to place our bodies to dig into some food. The Whiskey flight and the Bourbon flight both came with a glass of water to rinse your mouth in between tasting the liqours. The Carmel Whiskey was a favorite. The mixed drinks were absolutely strong and deliciously fresh. The chia was super smooth, a very dangerous drink as it doesn't tasted like alcohol. Decently priced for a group of 5 it was around the $150 mark (not including beers as those were on a separate tab... but our 2 flights and 2 mixed drinks and food) read more

Had a lovely time at The Armory. Can't wait to go back. The food was amazing. It was pretty busy there so service was slow and the outside area was packed, but that was to be expected. Great selection of drinks and awesome atmosphere. If you are in Sonora, this is a must go spot. We will be back. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the prices and there's always room for improvement. read more

Nice outdoor areas to dine, good food, but the service was lacking. Server walked by my date and I (closed menus on table) and didn't take our order until we actually stopped him and asked about ordering. A 'food runner' brought our order and while eating I see our server glance over at our table and then move on, ignoring my empty drink glass. I wait awhile and then end up going downstairs to the bar for my own refill, where I patiently wait for the bartender to finish her conversation (not related to any type of food or drink order) with the only patron at the bar, to whom I am standing directly next to and looking at said bartender. Once the conversation is finished, she simply walks away to the other end of the bar (no other customers) without so much as acknowledging me. Similar to having to ask if I can order food upstairs, I have to state the obvious and ask for a drink. We enjoyed the food, but will more than likely not return. read more

Stopped by for lunch recently and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful remodel. The detail throughout was amazing, even the bathrooms. We ordered lunch and everything was delicious. I had a Bloody Mary and chicken sandwich followed up by a triple chocolate brownie. My friends ordered the Giant Bavarian pretzel and the Ahi Poke Tostada - which they enjoyed. The service was incredible. We were told to order at the bar, but they actually came out to the table and we're very attentive. There was a very nice selection of beers! Will definitely make another trip to Sonora to visit The Armory again. read more

This place is awesome. Great vibe, cool seating and venue spaces and a pretty amazing menu. They change their menu seasonally and there's always something new to try. The rodeo burger has amazing flavor and the shoestring fries are SO good. Next time, I'll for sure get the garlic fries. Our waitress, (I think her name was Ellie) was so nice, and didn't get overwhelmed when we split the check amongst us hooligans. I try to come here every time I am in town, highly recommend read more

This was our second time coming here in the past month or so--this time we came to try the food also. We were not disappointed. My husband chose the pork sliders with waffle fries. The dish was a generous portion, which gave me a great 'excuse' to help him finish them. The pork had great flavor and looked to be on little brioche style buns. The fries were crisp and perfectly seasoned. My dish was the grilled cheese (with THREE different types of cheese) and a cup of roasted tomato soup. This was perfectly portioned for me personally, but those with larger appetites might be left wanting more. The soup was nicely seasoned and the grilled cheese was delicious. I had to have my new favorite drink (spiked vanilla chai), followed by the hot drink special: hot buttered rum!! I don't come across many places that prepare this yummy hot drink, so finding it right here in town made me positively giddy!! We really love the cool ambiance of the bourbon barrel room, where we really enjoy watching the bar staff assemble their amazing craft cocktails. I highly recommend a stop here to try their incredible food and drink menu. read more

Loved everything! Food was amazing! Atmosphere beautiful on a nice day upstairs. Chicken sandwich was amazing! .

Exceptional hospitality! Our large party of 15 was welcomed without a reservation and taken care of throughout dinner. The Armory staff, especially Eleanor our server, went above and beyond to accommodate our group which made it a memorable evening. Cocktails were on point! Highly recommend you check them out! read more

Very nice place to hang out. The food tho is just okay. The waffle fries is hard, too toasted it's hard to eat. The kids burger is well done, the bun is burnt. Loaded pork belly nachos is very good, the chicken burger is not for me, the slaw is too sweet. Drinks are very good. Service is okay. We have to cancel one item because it's taking so long for them to serve it. We'll be back for the drinks for sure! read more

Stopped in to celebrate my MIL's 50th Birthday Dinner. This place has a ethereal meets industrial vibe, it is a one of a kind for the ambiance alone. Kudos to the owner on creativity and detail! Upon walking in, we were not greeted nor had any direction on how our group could be seated. After about 10 minutes, i walked up to the bar explained this is our first time in and the bartender said coldly "it is open seating, first come first serve." Overall the customer service was lacking as multiple servers walked by our group gathered at the entrance just looking for guidance and not one looked or acknowledged us. It would be great if they had a greeter/host that explained the experience of dining here! I walk back to my group and we go check out upstairs, to our luck we found a table! Walking up to the terrace it is completely open, it being the evening in fall/winter we were cold. It could definitely use some outdoor heaters. As we all got settled we all checked out the menu on our cell phones and waited for a waiter to come by. 15 minutes passed before we were acknowledged/greeted, our waiter was friendly, energetic and hilarious, he took our drink/app order and returned shortly with two large prezels, our group devoured them! Well all placed our orders and waited almost an hour for our food to arrive, and man was it disappointing! I ordered the nachos and my husband had a burger. The food was barely warm and little to no flavor. The rest of the table said their food was ok, i would say i would not come back to eat dinner. This place is good for drinks and pub appetizers. Our waiter was so gracious and apologized for the long delay, he said they were short staffed. Overall the experience here was mediocre from greeting to the food. The ambiance though is something they nailed, they definitely need to fix the kitchen/staffing issue, and create some kind of greeting/signage for direction. I would also add some heaters for the terrace. I hope we can chalk up the mediocre food to an off night! I will come back and try them again for appetizers and drinks. Beautiful spot, will try again next time! read more

I have been here lots of times since they opened, and it's always close to greatness, but falls short. Last time in, we came around 5:30 on a Saturday. They change the menu often. Things have come and gone that were friend favorites (fried chicken sando? smash burgers?) and replaced them with other less good things. The food wants to be something fancy and creative, which many of the items are, but the delivery falls short. My most recent visit I was disappointed to see that they pulled the smash burgers and replaced them with 8 oz (I think) patties. Bummer. My wife had a Chinese chicken salad, mother-in-law had the pork belly banh-mi, and father-in-law had tacos. The tacos were good, but messy. The banh-mi was not a banh-mi at all, but was a pork belly sandwich on a pretzel bun (banh-mi are Vietnamese mini baguettes). The burger was fine, the Chinese chicken salad was ok. The chicken tasted old and dry. The lettuce on the burger had wilted, and the cheese already cooled down. All of it, except the tacos and the curly fries, was warm-ish, as if it had been prepared and left to sit on expo counter. Another strange thing is that all the food I've had there has a sweet underpinning. Not necessarily a bad thing, but strange. The service is hit or miss. Last time I was there we sat in the bourbon barrel, and a gentleman took our drink order, and I ordered a water while I thought about a beer. He came back with beers for my party, and we all ordered food, and I ordered a beer. He never came back to our table, but was behind the bar washing dishes for most of the rest of our meal. We waited a long time for the food. Felt forgotten. Waited a long time for water. Finally flagged down another waitress for a beer and water. Lo and behold, there's our food, as I mentioned before, it seemed like it was sitting, forgotten. When we were there, there were three separate parties going on. The upstairs was blocked off, and there was a large party in the patio space, which is why we sat in the bourbon barrel. They had a third party off to the side. My guess is this slowed things down, and took their attention away from a four top off to the side in the barrel. I think with three parties they had their hands full and should have closed service for public until one or two of them cleared out. But, it's been slow every time I've been there. Go upstairs, wait for a server. Sit at the bar, wait for food. Sit in the barrel, be forgotten. I really want to like this place. It's just missing the mark. We will probably be back when they change the menu again and bring back or come up with something good. Otherwise, I'll go elsewhere. At this price point there are other places in Sonora that have better food and service. I am surprised at so many of these good reviews, but I am glad some people are getting the experience they want here. read more

The food and cocktails were okay. Might be a good place if you enjoy beers. Otherwise it's a decent place.

We enjoy coming here because of the nice outdoor environment but the food has really ruined it for us. Spent $60 something on these two meals (+ a beer) and they were both horrible. The braised beef was literally like jerky, so dry and chewy with zero flavor. My partner got the pulled pork sandwich and said it taste like mayo and grease lol there wasn't even bbq sauce or flavor to be found. We also left a 18% tip and we had to order our food at the bar and no one ever checked on us after we got our food, downside of paying and tipping before you've got your food & "service". These meals were worth complaining about and getting some sort of resolution but we didn't have the energy. Might've been the last straw for food here though :( read more

The ambiance is great! Doesn't feel like a small town place. The drinks are good. The menu is limited though, tasty but overpriced! For example 2 tacos were $14 and that was on Taco Tuesday's normally $16 for 2 small tacos and a small side of chips and salsa. I can go right down the street to the Taqueria and get a full fajitas plate for $15 with unlimited chips and salsa included. We spent over $80 for just three people to eat and only had one drink a piece. That's $26 a person for basically bar food and a drink. Waitstaff, not great.... Kind of a who cares attitude. Didn't seem to be too interested if we were happy or needed anything. Once they deliver the food they're done with you. Here's the deal, if you're going to charge these types of prices the customer experience must be spectacular and frankly the portions have to be larger. This isn't Walnut Creek this is Sonora it's a small town and the prices should mirror the community. read more

Best food ever! Everything we tried was so tasty and the ambiance was great. The beer garden is great for a more casual setting where you go up to the bar to order your food and drinks. Sonora is lucky to have such a wonderful place! It's casual, but classy and has an amazing staff - a special shout out to Jessica in the Bourbon Barrel bar! Tuesday is Taco night. Taco Tuesday was gone for awhile, but it's back now. The taco's are amazing and you can mix-and-match your order to try different kinds (this option is only available on Tuesday). At $5 each it's a steal! My personal favorites are shrimp (when available), butternut squash and short rib. My husband is a big birria fan. The other menu items are great as well, but tacos and a cold beer or cocktail are perfect for Tuesday nights! read more

What they are getting right - 1. Beautiful build-out. The patio, the 'beer tap fountain', the lower lever dining rooms indoors, the outside bar. First Rate all the way around. 2. Their beer selection. Something for everyone on that list. Where they are missing the mark - 1. The menu. It's incredibly shallow without much effort beyond 'basic bar food'. That was the biggest disappointment. 2. The wait staff was hit or miss. Some were exceptional and guest-focused. Some were obviously inconvenienced by our party of 4. I understand it's hard to find staff, but train the ones you have is a good starting point. We've waited 4 years for the opening... So we were excited to try it. But it's certainly not 'destination worth' if you're looking for more than a solid beer hall. Perhaps they will get the kinks out over the next 6 months? read more
