    Spicy Salmon Quinoa
    Ralph B.

I had very high expectations for this restaurant given the new ownership and management. I was not disappointed. First of all this is nothing like the terrible Earl's restaurant that was there before with the awful pizza. This is very much a step up in quality, variety, and service. We went with friends on a Friday night and had made reservations. Thank goodness we did because by 5:30 the line to get in was long. We started with drinks, which were excellent. The Old Fashioned was particularly well done and the ladies really enjoyed the frozen sangria. We then split a Double Dip which is a spinach and artichoke dip and a pimento cheese dip served with toasted flatbread. Our server knows that the quantity of flatbread is not enough for the two large dips, so she suggested a refill before we even started. Even that was not enough so we did a refill again. Both showed up on the bill at no cost. As for the dips; the spinach and artichoke was plenty cheesy, but really lacked any flavor at all. This was more than compensated for by the spicy pimento cheese dip. It was perfect consistency and had a great spicy flavor. For main courses, the ladies each had the roast beef sandwich which is made with Shaved Wagyu Top Round, Smoked Provolone, Beer Honey Balsamic Onions and Horseradish Aioli. It was huge and full of excellent flavor. The onions, in particular, really set this sandwich to another level. And the French fries on the side were perhaps the best large cut fries any of us have ever had. The other gentleman in the group had the half brick oven chicken. He said it had excellent flavor and was perfectly moist. Sides were excellent as well. I had the Spicy Salmon Quinoa Bowl. Salmon was done exactly as I requested and the bed of vegetables upon which it rested was cooked perfectly. Lots more on this menu that I would describe as upscale bar food, that I will select in the future as I expect we will become quite regular here. By the way, the service throughout was excellent, just the right amount of checking in without being annoying and still keeping waters filled. Giving an enthusiastic 5 stars because the only flaw was the one dip flavor.

Leanna, our server, was professional, friendly, helpful and informative. She gave us some history and background of the building. She suggested beer flavors for us and let us sample before ordering. On our recent visit, we ordered the cheese pizza and were surprised to learn that the cheese blend includes provolone. Unfortunately, we are not fans of the sharper flavor, so it was not a good fit for us. That said, we absolutely loved the crust and the way the pizza was cooked. If not for the provolone, it would have been a home run. One area where I think there is room for improvement is pricing. While we understand that costs have gone up, some items felt a bit expensive. For example, I just cannot justify spending $17 on tiramisu. Overall, this is a charming neighborhood restaurant with good food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I am interested to see what the new ownership brings and wish them success as they begin this next chapter.

This quaint spot has been standing for more than 140 years and now serves as a restaurant and live music venue on the weekends. The bar is dark, woody, and full of character and gives off the kind of vibe that makes you want to come back for an evening of music and drinks. We chose to sit in the bright front room with its abundance of windows and natural light. We started with the deviled eggs topped with bacon jam for an appetizer. Those we gobbled fast. I ordered the Wagyu House Burger with whipped jalapeño, goat cheese, and bacon jam served with tots. The burger is hardy cook cooked well and the goat cheese was a standout. My date had the chicken fried steak and after stealing a few bites I can confidently say that's what I'll be ordering next time. That was absolutely delicious. The service was attentive and friendly, making an already enjoyable meal even better. We left full happy and completely charmed by both the restaurant and the surrounding area.

I'm a pretty picky eater, so the unique ingredient combinations on some of their burgers initially made me a little nervous. My advice? Trust the chef. Unless you have an allergy or a genuine reason to leave something off, order the burger exactly as it's intended. The flavor combinations might sound unusual, but somehow they just work. Every bite is packed with flavor, and the creativity is a huge part of what makes Rodeo Goat so good. One of my favorite things about Rodeo Goat is the Battle Burgers. Every month, two wildly creative burgers go head-to-head, and whichever one sells the most earns the right to stick around and compete again against a new challenger. It's basically burger fight club--and thankfully, nobody talks about burger fight club. I've tried almost everything on the menu, but 99.9% of the time, I find myself ordering one of the Battle Burgers. It keeps things fresh, interesting, and gives me an excuse to try something I probably wouldn't normally order. If you're in the area and looking for an incredible burger, Rodeo Goat should absolutely be your next stop. Come hungry, trust the chef, and prepare to have your definition of a burger expanded.
