We were here on a business trip. It was a slow night due to a monsoon outside so we decided to try here so we didn't have to leave the hotel. Unfortunately, there was a very large party of about 25 so we didn't get as good of service as we should have. I ordered the Cioppino, my friend ordered the salmon, and we had beignets for dessert. What really upset me, is that I had the worst tasting bloody Mary I've ever had in my life and it was $16! I actually got up from the table to go find my server to ask him if they had any horseradish or Worchester sauce, so I could spice it up. And then he brings me the $16 bill. After I said something, he adjusted the bill to just charge me for a shot of vodka, which was appropriate. The cioppino was OK, but the salmon was amazing! Would I go back? Probably not. read more

The Abalone is absolutely beautiful with the most breath taking panoramic ocean view! Especially at sunset. When my friends & I walked in, the waitress was definitely giving us the up down of judgement because we were under dressed. The restaurant was completely dead at this time we were the only people coming in. The waitress was not very friendly she kind of appeared to not want to be there. My friend likes her mojitos made with sprite and the waitress told her she was needy lmao. The Surf & Turf was really good! It's a huge portion & could definitely be shared between 2 people. I loved their mashed potatoes & the filet mignon was cooked to perfection. My friends caesar salad was refreshing, it had a splash of lemon which we liked. At the end I didn't pay attention to the 18% service charge nobody told us about, I tipped $40 cash on top of that which was a little over 20% from the bill total which is where I got mad. The waitress took the cash & my friends card payment, left to run the card, then came back to the table with the receipt for the card payment & the said rudely I'll be back with change. I responded keep the change as a tip thanks. The waitress shrugged her shoulder said oh thanks and waltzed off. Once I realized I tipped on top of the automatic gratuity we weren't informed of, I just let it go I wasn't going to ask for the cash back but damn as a server is it that hard to be kind & say thank you or tell us to have a good night? I was pretty appalled by the service especially in such a nice restaurant. The beignets were mouth watering, prob the biggest hit of the night. Service is absolutely horrible. Never came back to check on us, get refills, see how food was. Did not get 1 refill. Had to flag waitress down to tell her crab was missing from the lobster and crab mac and cheese. There wasn't any crab. We were told it was a limited amount of crab. Must have been invisible too. Not busy and staff not attentive. Place is beautiful. Has potential, but staff needs more training. Especially with an automatic 18% tip and dishes $35+ per plate. Oh and they charge for bread. Showed up at 8:00 on a Sunday evening and was sat down immediately. The atmosphere is lovely! The food was absolutely phenomenal and so tasteful. The steak was definitely worth the price! The only con was the slower service on getting our ticket when we were finished eating, but everything else was a 10/10. The restaurant was right on the beach. The view and the service were amazing. It was weird though. We were there from 6:00 to 7:30 on a Saturday night and from 6:00 to 7:00 we were the only ones there. Great for us but not so good for the restaurant. We sat on the patio outside and all we could see was sand and water. It was beautiful. Our server was so gracious and helpful and caring. He was wonderful. We ordered the bread appetizer and all agreed that that may have been the best part of the meal. We placed our orders for Shrimp and Grits, Osso Bucco and two Strip Steaks. The first two orders came out perfect and were beautifully plated. The two steaks unfortunately were ordered medium rare and medium and both came out brown and dry. They were returned as they were way off what was ordered. The server and the restaurant both graciously accepted the return, understood and said they would prepare new meals. While they took a while, which I guess is good since it meant they were making new steaks, the second dinners of steaks were much better than the first. We don't like to complain, but these were well overcooked. Everyone understood, didn't make us feel bad and worked to make things right. Thank you for that. I do not understand why there was no one else there. Good for us but not for the restaurant. I wonder if it was because there were so few reviews. I had a hard time finding many. The patio is truly beautiful and everyone we dealt with at the restaurant was incredibly nice. I highly recommend this restaurant for the view, the service and the food (which was not quite perfect, but still very good.) It would be a shame for them not to make it. All of us really enjoyed our evening. We were worried about sitting outside since it was very hot during the day, but by 6:00, the sun was behind the building, there was a nice breeze and we were all very comfortable. Today's Easter Brunch was astounding great... such perfection in the extensive variety of the most fresh, delectable, and beautiful array of options... everything from healthy foods to comfort favorites and everything in between and more. My loved ones were delighted with the many exquisite and delicious new foods too, making this visit a truly fabulous event! The hotel's many gorgeous views, inside and out, offer relaxing venues to enjoy regardless of the weather. The impeccably gracious staff are so kind too.
