The bar became my go to while staying at the hotel. Everything else in the area is grossly overpriced and truthfully just mediocre. There is disparity with bartenders here. My standard expresso martini was butchered by a few bartenders. Kaitlyn was the only one to make it correctly and consistent. Not bad for a hotel restaurant. The bar was packed at dinner time while the lounge area was pretty empty. The menu had the basic American burgers, salads, and steak. I ordered the scallops on top of cauliflower purée and those were delicious! The bartender said it was his favorite menu item. I tried their donuts earlier this year and wasn't the biggest fan. They were too dense and a little dry. This place is a good option for a good meal, but nothing crazy special. The drink menu has some nice cocktail options on it and the prices were reasonable for the area. The server was very accommodating and attentive with hangry customers next to me. read more

Sat politely waiting to order for over 10 minutes (not exaggerating) along with another table. Finally ordered and waited awhile to get the drink, fine. But drink was horrible. What a perfect lounge in our hotel. We had eaten earlier in the day, I wanted a quick bite, and maybe a drink. This was great for that. We ended up ordering a drink, some sliders, and wings before retiring back to our room for the night. The service was great, and really fast. We stopped in to this lounge twice during our stay and I have to say that I'm not a huge fan. The lounge itself was very nice with a great vibe & decorations. They even had live music the night that we arrived. Which was nice. The bartenders even although not the fastest servers, were incredibly nice. The reason for my 3 star rating is for the food. It was very basic hotel food choices for the most part but they did offer a couple of different items. The food was overpriced in my opinion and they add the gratuity to every check no matter the party size. I would recommend going to one of the close-by restaurants to get a more authentic flavor of Seattle. read more

I have to say I was completely surprised that I loved my meal from this hotel bar/restaurant. Perhaps I was not expecting much because just to find a menu online was impossibly difficult. The hotel could do a better job of advertising their restaurant options. Many sites list the place as closed permanently! I went to the bar and placed an order for takeaway so I could eat back up in our room. My husband was not hungry at all so it was just me! I ordered a glass of wine while waiting too. I got the Caesar salad- wow it was terrific. I also ordered the fig bacon grilled cheese Which came with fries as well. The fries were good but they were just a sideshow. That sandwich was awesome! The bartender that waited on me was nice enough but nothing special. Please take note they automatically add 20% onto your bill. I would not have noticed except the guy that just leaving when I walked up was talking about it. They also tax the service charge??? Weird. read more

I wanted to love The 515 so bad, but sadly this placed missed the mark. Located in the Renaissance Seattle Hotel, this bar/eatery has a great menu and fun staff. The drinks are delicious, the food tasty, but unfortunately their fun staff was lacking...big time. Like I said, they were super nice, but soooooo slow. The worst part was they weren't even that busy. 10 pm on a Friday night, and there were maybe 20 or so people in the bar, if that. Once seated though, our server took our drink order while we looked at the late night menu. Drinks came out right away, but it was a chore to get someone back over to take our order. Once we ordered, we were then told that several items were no longer available for the night...sigh. Ok, so we picked something else...fries. They were served perfect,y salted and super hot. We the. Wanted another round of drinks. 20 minutes or so goes by, and no one returns to our table, so my husband goes up to the bar to order more drinks and a piece of cheesecake because the brownie was sold out. We were told no food after 10:30. However, my husband waited in their long drink line to get more drinks and our cheesecake for 15 minutes. Thankfully they accommodated us. Everyone else though, they told them room service was available 24 hours and to go up to their room to order. Wait, what? Like I said, the food and drinks are good, but only if you can get them. At the bar it wasn't much better. I was ignored for about eight minutes the bar tender and the other person who kept walking past me. As for the food, everyone either had a burger or a ceaser salad. When you're in your hotel room at 9pm, watching "Dances With Wolves" because it's the only interesting thing on, and you're frustrated because Stands With a Fist falls instantly in love with Kevin Costner's character, despite his cringe-worthy, overly-forward, privileged white male behavior, and you're like, "You know what? I'm going downstairs to the bar." This was the most amazing rye old fashioned I've ever had in my life! If it wasn't for Jack the Barback I wouldn't of had the experience that I had while staying at the hotel and decided to eat the 515. Jack was the only one that made me feel welcome and attentive. Beware of the 20% service charge they add on to everything. I ordered a bottle of wine that was $70. No problem with that. Bartender invests all of about two minutes getting the bottle, opening it and giving me a couple glasses. I get the bill... I was forced to tip him $15 for the honor of having him open it. Ridiculous. First and last time I bought anything there. I'm all for good tips if the service deserves it, but $15 for opening the wine? (That I bought from them... if it was corkage, that's one thing, but I paid them $70 for the wine) So... no matter whether you get good or bad service... you're paying a tip of 20%. read more

Healthy portion of fries 2) Crab Fries: 3/5 the fries and crabs were good, but not the sauce on the fries. Tasted too artificial and too much. As far as hotel bars go, this one is pretty good. My husband enjoyed his hamburger and the fries were good. I wasn't blown out of the water, but we got in late from out of town and this was nice and convenient. Checked into the hotel solo, as my boyfriend's flight was delayed. It was late on a school night so I checked out the hotel bar for drinks and a late dinner while I waited. Jeremy is as my server and was incredibly attentive and friendly. He recommended their fig manhattan as well as the spicy coppa italia flatbread and both were fantastic. I usually conduct quite the interview about drinks, but he excelled and exceeded my expectations! The only thing not fantastic about my experience: I also ordered the truffle fries, which I would recommend against as they were like normal steak fries with three shreds of parmeasan and a bowl of truffle-y mayo. read more

From the moment we sat down, the service was horrible. The bartender/server, Kevin, watched us sit down and proceeded to clean his bar area for at least 5 minutes prior to coming over, even though we had tried to wave him over. The bar area wasn't busy at all. The 4 of us, plus one other table of 4 or 5 business men (also only drinking) were the only customers in the section. Upon coming to the table, Kevin immediately shot one person in our group a huge attitude after she asked for a lemon drop. He snapped back and said "well would you like a double so that you can taste the alcohol?" She said, "No, I just want a lemon drop." He had the same response again. This was all based on a personal vendetta from the night prior, when our person had said she couldn't really taste the alcohol in her drink. Instead of that being dropped, Kevin carried that over into the following night and ignored our table, shot attitude at us, and then refused service after a single drink claiming that our person was intoxicated. It was her first drink -- a single lemon drop, while everyone else at the table had 1-2 high proof bourbons. Clearly he was holding to personal feelings and treating his customers poorly based on that. As well, 10-15 min after calling last call he proceeded to serve new customers, and refused us further service. We talked with the MOD, Ashley, as well as the banquet manager, Richard. They said that "they would have a talk with him", but seemed uncertain on their own policies when asked. Specifically when we asked about their last call policies, there was no definitive answer. It was, all in all, a very unprofessional experience -- I would have expected better from a Marriott property in the heart of downtown Seattle. Coffee shop in the Renaissance Hotel, sad because the person here was trying to be nice but didn't fill up my coffee cup completely. Then said she had to call her manager, sad that 2 ounces of milk needs an override and that they monitor everything. So, it was $6 and now she said she needs to charge me $7. My company just hosted a huge event at the hotel. Sad to say that the coffee shop didnt live up to the other experiences I just had at the Renaissance. Worth a visit if you're staying here; not sure it's a destination you'd travel to. But, they have a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails, including some local spirits, which was nice. I cannot express how awesome bartender James is. After a long day out-on-the-town, we are glad we left another nearby cocktail bar and wrapped our evening with him. He made our Saturday night with his drink mixing skills and hilarious personality. Not only did James accommodate our bizarre request for an Aqua Velva, he put on extra flourishes - like crafting a handmade paper rose and adding it to the drink because he didn't have any paper umbrellas. Talk about going above and beyond for your guests! Just before we turned in, he also made a DELICIOUS pumpkin spice martini that made our taste buds dance. He had great information about downtown happy hours, and gave me suggestions for the weekend also. Honestly, we weren't expecting much after arriving at the hotel late around 11pm. This was still open for us to grab a late dinner. Surprisingly, the food was really good! The ceasar salad was fresh (dressed a little heavily, as I like it but you might want to ask for otherwise if you'd prefer). I spent 3 nights at the Renaissance hotel and made a couple trips to this hotel bar. The only food I ordered was the house made potato chips and onion dip, which is a steal at 99 cents. I have no idea how the rest of the menu stacks up. Service the first night was adequate, but nothing special. Today I met Jeremy and he completely changed my mind about this place. Not only was he a spectacular waiter/talented mixologist, but we witnessed a party abusing him for politely declining to refill an intoxicated person's drink. Just spent $212 dollars at this place for a night of drinks and happy hour nachos for three people. The service was really horrible. We didn't see our sever for days. We watched and waited and watched others waiting as one lady counted down her drawer while customers waited patiently and this is 2 hours before they close.
