The grits were runny with too much butter for my taste. Also ordered ham biscuit. They placed a lot of ham on it. Yay! The person who took my order at the register was very nice. The restaurant is small, but there are a few tables if you want to sit down and enjoy your meal. The service was pleasant, and everything came out tasting good. BUT... the grease! Almost everything was noticeably oily. I had to use a napkin to soak up the excess grease from the croquette, and the eggs tasted like they were cooked with a little too much oil or butter. Even the biscuit was on the greasy side. I was able to sample my partner's grits. The grits were definitely the standout for me--creamy, flavorful, and probably my favorite part of the meal. Overall, I think there's potential here. The food had good flavor, but if they dialed back the oil and butter, I'd be much more likely to come back and would've given it more stars. Sometimes less really is more!

It was giving old fashioned dining at the local mom and pop restaurant. When I'm in the area again I will definitely go back for that fish and grits. I also bought a T-shirt as a souvenir. I met some travelers there from Mississippi. They gave me some great ideas on seeing a local play and some of their adventures. I gave them some tips on Chicago site seeing and food. The bread was soggy with grease and needed seasoning, the fries were a bunch of thinly-sliced fried potato peelings. I could've salted my food but the salt shaker was completely empty.
