The food is exceptional! Wow! We had fried whiting and oxtails! The whiting was crisp and delicious! The oxtails were good but could have been great....with more gravy! They were tender! The collards, Mac and cheese and potato salad were seasoned well and tasted real good!! Met the owner, Gigi, she understands the assignment of an owner in the competitive Atlanta food scene. I found this spot while visiting Conyers. GiGi's had great reviews so I was extremely excited to try it out. So I'm always gonna start off with the good first. I loved the restaurant's decor and design, location also has plenty of parking. The customer service was amazing. Everyone was warm and friendly. Gigi's also has a kiosk in the restaurant where you could order your food from if the line is too, I thought that was pretty cool as well. But that's where the good ends. The food was not good at all. I didn't like not one thing on my plate. I ordered pork chops, mac and cheese, and collard greens. Banana pudding as well. Everything looked like it was gonna be delicious but unfortunately, it wasn't. The banana pudding seemed store-bought. So you can imagine how pissed I was after paying an arm and leg for the food. Also, the bathroom was disgusting. I know that doesn't have anything to do with the food, but if you don't keep the bathroom clean that guest can actually see how does the kitchen look? and I got there about 30 mins after they opened so it had to still be dirty from another day. I've eaten here a few times and can confirm that the food here is consistently underwhelming. I wish I could say I liked the food here. The mac n cheese is often dry and flavorless (maybe dry due to it sitting for a long time). The gravy and meat dishes don't have much flavor. The rice feels parboiled yet undercooked. My cornbread had a bad aftertaste and doesn't have that signature cornbread flavor - it feels like cake mix. Most recently, I had fried fish and the hot sauce in the little hot sauce packets they provided turned my food pink. Other visits, I've had the greens and they tasted raw and tough. I'm still on the search for good soul food in the conyers/covington area. Hopefully I find it one day! read more

This location is the cutest! I loved the atmosphere and decor in this Resturaunt. Everything was very clean and well lit. The staff were very kind and the kiosk was a great modern touch to ordering your food quicker. The kitchen was very well organized and extremely clean. The food was phenomenal. I ordered the baked chicken deluxe and chose baked macaroni and yams as my sides. I also requested extra gravy. The baked chicken was thoroughly cooked and very flavorful. The rice was firm but not crunchy and the macaroni was cooked to perfection. The yams were great! Not too sweet but not too savory either. Lastly, is the cornbread muffin. It was enjoyable, but could use some butter, however i thoroughly loved this meal and would return again. I also ordered their homemade sweet tea and it is indeed sweet, but still delicious- perfect for washing down the cornbread. I added some cranberry sauce to my Meal and that completely took it to another level. I highly recommend you visit for high quality and delicious soul food in a clean environment with wonderful staff. Came here the first time in 2021. They had the buffet which was delicious! We came back November of 2022, totally revised. The inside was beautiful, no more buffet, at least for dinner. I went to Gigi's to get some sides to go along with a venison roast my wife was preparing. As I was on the phone, I logged into Yelp and then from there to GrubHub to place the order while sitting in the parking lot. Not sure exactly how but instead of a pick up, it got slated as a delivery. When I went in to pick it up, after a moment of confusion the store personnel realized that the delivery driver had already taken it. This was a mystery as I had not entered any address for him to deliver it to so I guess the driver and his family ate good that night! The staff was very apologetic, they contacted Grubhub who amazingly could not contact their driver! After finding this out, the staff replaced the the order & sent me on my way. I really try to support local businesses faithfully. I also try to find good in every situation. Here's the good. 1.The ordering process went very smoothly. 2. The food looked very enticing . That's it! After spending over $50 on this past Sunday evening, 1. Part of what was supposed to be delivered was missing. 2. The fried chicken platters or were both a bit salty. 3. I ordered three meals, all which were nasty. The cat fish tasted and smelled as if it were cooked in old batter or grease. My sons ribs didn't have ANY sauce on them, none at all! My husbands Lima beans were hard, and the yams were Bruce's yams, straight out of the can, no extra sugar or spices to them.. we gave the baked chicken and ribs to our dogs and trashed everything else. YES I TOOK IT TO THE EXTREME because I couldn't tell you the last time I had country fried steak along with all those sides. This meal is actually what my mother makes for me for my birthday meal when I make the five hour trip home. First off the steak I cut with a fork....the cubed (country fried) steak my mother makes, I have to cut with knife. Not GiGi's! The flavor of the gravy and steak was unbelievable. The collards were top three I've ever eaten and I promise you I travel extensively for work and seek out soul food, most of the time to be let down. I must report that customer service was excellent! Due to Covid/19, no in house dining was allowed! This day, we ordered fried chicken and oxtails. For my sides, I chose collard greens and yams . My wife had oxtails on rice with Mac and cheese and string beans as a side. The portions were modest to say the least! I received one keg and one thigh for approximately nine dollars ! This was More expensive than some other restaurants offering the sane type of goods. The taste of the food was good but wasn't excellent!
