Solid staple of an institution in an area where there's a plethora of Vietnamese dine ins to choose from. It's apparently been opened for decades and withstood the test of time, which is saying something considering how tough the food business is around here where it's so saturated -- you can tell that this is a local's spot with regulars. The food was fresh, meats nicely grilled, and the fish sauce was nice and funky. The egg rolls and calamari you can tell were freshly fried and crispy. They have an extensive menu with a variety of things to order/choose from. Service was quick/efficient and the owner was very kind and attentive. The only downside is the parking is a nightmare here on a holiday or weekend but that's not out of the ordinary for the area here. If you're looking for Vietnamese comfort spot this is it!
I was told about this place from my mom. After an event, she suggested we'd come here and we came with our friends. There is much parking, no need to pay for the parking either. It is on a busy street so turn into the parking lot cautiously. The establishment outside is gorgeous just as the inside. It smells so delicious coming in. Were greeted right away and got seated quickly. They gave us our menus and let us browse for a few minutes and when coming back they took our orders. We had ordered water to accompany our dishes. My mom and I were able to use our Vietnamese with our server and he corrected us where needed when we ordering our food. Much appreciated to our server (I didn't catch his name). We apologized and he said it was okay. I like how they speak both english and Vietnamese here. I had ordered their Cơm Chiên Bó Lúc Lắc, on their Menu it's number E2. In english the food item is cubed filet mignon on a bed of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. You have the option of steamed or fried rice. I ordered my dish with steamed rice. It was delicious! The filet mignon was rich in taste and tender. Each bite better than the last. It was my first time here and definitely will want to try some other items. What's great about their menu too is that they have photos you browse through and toward the end of the menu it shows the number and price. Creative I thought. Can't wait to be back!
THANH MY RESTAURANT @ WESTMINSTER Parking is available right out front, and it was actually pretty easy to snag a spot on a Saturday night. My family and I were craving some good Vietnamese food, and this place popped up online and looked really promising, especially because their menu is huge with so many different options. We were seated pretty quickly, and we started off with the chicken wings, the garlic butter dish, and a fish tomato soup. The soup was honestly incredible, definitely a 10/10 and probably the highlight of the entire meal. I also ordered the Chè Ba Màu, which is usually a colorful three-layer dessert drink with beans, jelly, and coconut milk. Unfortunately, this one did not live up to expectations at all. Half the cup was just packed with mushy beans, barely any jelly, and mostly milk. It didn't even have the signature colorful layers. I politely asked if they could remake it, but they literally just poured the same drink into another cup and handed it back to me. One of the staff members also seemed annoyed and told me it was "supposed to look like that." I've had this drink many times before, and it has never been like this, so that experience was definitely disappointing. The chicken wings had good flavor, but they were extremely overcooked and dry. Overall, the staff also weren't the friendliest during our visit. That being said, the soup alone would honestly make me come back because it was that good. I'd probably return to try more of their soups and other dishes, but I would personally avoid the drinks and chicken wings next time.
This is one of the oldest Vietnamese restaurants in the Bolsa area. I've been coming here for over 20 years, ever since I first moved to Orange County and finally I writing a review, because I truly want to support this place and hope they continue to maintain their quality and reasonable prices. One of my favorite dishes here is the canh chua (Vietnamese sweet & sour soup) and cá kho tộ (caramelized braised fish in clay pot) . it's perfectly seasoned for those who enjoy authentic Southern Vietnamese flavors, like I do. Other dishes are decent and consistently well prepared. The restaurant may be old, but it's kept quite clean and is located right in the heart of Little Saigon, so it's easy to find. Service is friendly and relaxed, and there are plenty of parking spots nearby !
This spot is an institutional staple in the Little Saigon area, having been run by the same family for nearly 50 years. It's a go-to place for classic, traditional Vietnamese home-style cooking. While I wouldn't call it exceptional, the food is solid and comforting. Exactly what you would expect from a long-standing neighborhood restaurant. The restaurant is on the smaller side and can get quite packed. Our party of nine made a reservation, and they had the table ready for us upon arrival, which we appreciated. The main issue, however, was with the corkage fee. We had called ahead and were quoted $15 per bottle, which I noted before making the reservation. At the restaurant, we were instead charged $20 per bottle, even though we brought our own glassware and openers. Service was somewhat inconsistent. At times it felt attentive, but there were long stretches where no one came by to clear plates or provide bowls and extra plates unless we specifically asked. Toward the end of the meal, Anthony (the owner) came over to speak with us, which was a kind gesture. Unfortunately, since the corkage charge was presented at the very end, we didn't get a chance to raise the issue with him directly.
Love coming here, I've been coming here for the longest time and the food never disappoints. Fast, easy and great service. Restaurant is clean and has plenty of parking. If you're looking for home cook style Vietnamese cuisine this is the place. I ordered the macaroni with shaken beef and it did not disappoint. Beef was tendered in the sauce was delicious. Very well put together. Macaroni was also delightful. Perfect combination. They have the best eggrolls here. Highly recommend it if you're in the mood and in the area.
Stopped by Thanh My Restaurant in Westminster for a quick meal. While the venue has a lot going for it logistically, the food left a bit to be desired on this visit. The Food: Chicken Phở: The chicken for the phở was served on a separate plate steamed, which was nice, but unfortunately, it felt undercooked as there was still some visible blood near the bone. Chicken Fried Rice: It was okay, but definitely not amazing or memorable--lacked that distinct wok flavor or seasoning you look for in a great fried rice. The Menu: They have a huge menu with a ton of traditional options to choose from, so there's plenty of variety if you want to try other dishes. The Pros & Atmosphere: Quick Service: The staff was highly efficient, and the food came out very fast. Easy Parking: It's located in a shopping strip with ample free parking, which makes getting in and out stress-free. Decent Pricing: The prices are fair and reasonable for the portion sizes.
Com phung is what this place is known for. They serve your traditional Vietnamese meals with catfish, soups and braised meats. We happens to get all fish. Good stuff and the place wasn't too crowded. Prices are reasonable and the place is clean and bright. Plenty of seating and located in a large center. I'd come heck to try other things
Good family style restaurant if you are looking for other things than pho. They have a wide selection of food that is good across the board. You can even mix and match family style with personal orders. We had family style for 3 (plenty for 4 people) plus 2 bowls of individualized shrimp/grilled beef bun and egg roll/grilled beef bun. Both bun were solid. As for family style, we got caramelized catfish, stir fried green beans and beef, hot and sour shrimp soup, and stir fried Chinese spinach with garlic. All were fantastic and served with plenty of rice. I haven't been here in years but if I need Vietnamese home cooking, I'm heading here.
This restaurant was pretty good. Had the three course meal for two people. I love the fish soup and the caramelized fish. It's one of my favorite restaurants.
Mind blowing. The best Mi Kho I've had. The noodles are perfect and there's so much variety of meat in this dish. And there's soup that came with it was a full circle delight. This was a HH special too so it was like $10 for this! Wife ordered the Bo Luc Lac and that was a 5+/5 as well.
The restaurant was clean and the wait staffs were nice. We were sat immediately and the owner took our orders. We got the family combination which consisted of canh chua (sour soup) clay pot catfish, garlic sauté ongjoy rau muống xào tỏi. Gỏi dừa tôm thịt. Canh chua cá 9/10. Flavorful with 2 slice of catfish. Cá kho tộ 8/10. The flavor was good but lacking some pork belly, and lemon grass. Rau muống xào tỏi 8/10 Gỏi dừa tôm thịt 8/10. The owner was very nice and friendly. She chat with my mom which left a good impression on her. We will come back for many other items on the menu.
This place is still so so so delicious. If you plan on ordering 5-6 dishes, I'd recommend doing the family meal (com Phan) because it is a little cheaper. Service is great. I love fermented fish sauce (mam nem) so I always ask for this. It's my favorite. Plenty of seats. Parking is usually plentiful also. People come here and eat quite often as well. I ordered Canh chua. Ca kho To. Tom rang. Bo tai chanh. Goi sua Tom thit. All items 5/5 hands down. So so so delicious and such a good meal. I've loved this place since my college days and still love it today. They are opened pretty late at night in case you have the late night cravings. I'll be back per usual. If you're looking for family style viet food, come here!

Excellent food at Thanh My Restaurant! We used to eat here watching from large Restaurant windows our old Chevrolet SUV FULL OF THINGS slowly moving to our 2900 sf house in Huntington Beach Banh Hoi Bo Nuong= bbq beef vermicelli 5 stars is my order for 16+ years! We came on a Monday around noon and parking was very difficult. I had to drive around the lot for a bit before I found an open space after someone just left. And these spots are small! We were seated right away and a gentleman came to take our order. All of the staff were nice. I hadn't had a broken rice dish in a while so I was craving it today. I got the rice with a pork chop and egg cake, etc.. it was nothing extraordinary, but it was edible and decent. The pork chop was a little dry for my liking. The rest of the items were fine. At the end, a little cup of tapioca mung bean dessert was brought out, complimentary. That was a nice touch! They had a pretty extensive menu so I'd like to come back to try other dishes. read more

Very extensive menu ranging from Vietnamese noodle soups, broken rice, hot pot, home-style cooking (com phan), & so much more. Appreciate that they have pictures depicting some of their items since the menu can be overwhelming. I got the home-styled meal set for two $37.95 (rice not included, $1.50 / person). You get to choose a soup, savory dish, and salad. Braised Cat Fish (Ca Kho To) 4/5: tender pieces of catfish filets braised in a sweet and savory caramel fish sauce. Could use a bit more caramelization since the sauce was still a light amber color (not dark enough); increasing the cooking time would've reduced the sweetness. The flavor also hasn't fully penetrated the fish. Besides that, I still really enjoyed this dish. Tamarind Fish Soup (Canh Chua Ca) 4/5: a harmony of sweet, sour, and umami flavors from the fresh pineapple, tomatoes, tamarind, and stock. Comes with celery, beansprouts, elephant ear stalks, and a generous portion of catfish. Unfortunately comes in a bowl and not in a pot, so your soup doesn't stay hot throughout the meal. Beef Salad (3/5): sauteed beef and onions over a bed of salad. Flavor was good but beef was a little dry. Meal comes with complimentary Vietnamese dessert (che). Service is straight to the point, with food coming out quickly. Ambiance is more on the casual side. The restaurant has been around for at least 45 years with plenty of locals dining here! read more

Really great atmosphere, really great food. I went here because I wanted to try Bun bo Hue after a friend recommended it to me, and I found Thanh My after some googling. They have everything, and it is all very good. The owner was incredibly friendly and generous, the service was perfect. We will definitely be back, this was a great experience! read more
If you are craving Vietnamese food, but aren't sure what to get, this is the spot for you. This restaurant offers almost any Vietnamese food you want, but I would say the items aren't out of this world. I think this restaurant focuses more on availability and variety rather than quality and flavor. Com Tam Bi Cha Heo Nuong: Pretty average plate of com tam. The rice was and bi were good, but the meat was a bit dry and the cha was dry as well. read more
Thanh My Restaurant has officially been open for 45 years now! This spot is truly one of the pioneers of Vietnamese cuisine in the Little Saigon area. It is so important to know the history of this wonderful enclave we all love and to pay respects to the OG businesses that paved the way. This spot is located in a plaza with a good amount of parking spots. Inside, they have about 5-7 tables for seating. They have an extensive menu here where you can order individual dishes or family style ones. I came here with family for lunch so we got the 7 courses for 8 people for $136. We ended up getting the Canh Chua Ca (sour soup with fish), Ca Kho To (claypot braised catfish), Ca Chim Chien (fried pompano fish), Ngheu Xao Dau Hao (fresh sautéed clams), Tom Muc Bo Xao Thap Cam (stir fried veggies with squid, shrimp, and beef), Tom Ram Man (caramalized shrimp in fish sauce), and Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef). Overall, everything we had was delicious and as authentic as a Vietnamese family style spread comes! All of the staff here are friendly and welcoming. Located in the heart of Little Saigon you will find that Thanh My having been opened for over 30 years is because they probably have the best food. Seriously. The staff here is very friendly and inviting and the restaurant is pretty big so there is plenty of seating. I however do not speak Vietnamese so after ordering a lot of different dishes I have narrowed down my favorites and they are - E9 Com tay cam, r5 bean thread noodles, r6 stir fried broccoli, F4imperial rolls, g1 bun bo hue by And B3 B7 H1 read more
The good: My husband and I decided to try this place when we got coffee next door one rainy morning. We got wonton bbq pork egg noodle soup (what a great comfort food for rainy days) and a com thit nuong (broken rice and grilled pork) plate. Their menu is massive. Come here for group ordering or when you have a group that cannot agree on what to eat. The food was a great price. Both dishes were pretty good. I liked the texture of the wonton meat (not too tough). The ambience feels hole-in-wall-ish meaning there's a little bit of stickiness and tight spaces. They did have high chairs for babies. There is Vietnamese art for decor. The bad: There's no outdoor seating. The parking lot can get crowded. The interesting: They take reservations online. It's been a minute since I've eaten Thanh my, use to come here a lot when it open late. Came here on a Monday around 9pm, got seated right away. We ordered the Hu tieu kho Thanh my large and the bun thit nuong combo. The hu tieu kho was huge, I couldn't even finish, the flavor was on point with lots of meat. The bun thit nuong delicious. Great spot with lots of variety of Vietnamese food. Highly recommend. read more
I was introduced to Thanh My by my nail lady. Not to be redundant but of course she's Vietnamese. We were talking and I mentioned how my family go-to Com Phan - Family Style meal spot was closed, and she recommended me to Thanh My. It's a pretty busy plaza and parking can be tight. I came alone while I was already in the area for a haircut, so I did not have the full family meal sets. With the chilly weather I decided to get the Canh Chua ($18.95) which is the Tamarind Soup. This comes with shrimp or fish, which I opted for the fish. My nail lady warned me that they make it extra sour here, so just ask for it to be a tad less sour. Nice pro tip! Inflation definitely hit but I was pleased to see there was a generous amount of fish. The soup was very tasty and the flavor was on point. The vegetables had a nice sweetness to them in contrast to the sourness of the soup base. I felt so bad cause I must have ordered the last fish portion of the day. A few guests after me were urged to get the shrimp instead cause they ran out of the fish that goes with this soup. Something about their shipment not arriving yet. If I was with even one more person, it would have been a better deal to get their traditional Family Meals. For instance the 2 people portion comes with 3 dishes at $33.95, and this soup is one of those three courses. Totally a better deal! When I mentioned this spot to my mom, she said she didn't have a good experience going prior. Looks like I'll have to come back with friends. read more
A very standard viet restaurant with a diverse variety of dishes. Went here with the parental and it was a very okay experience. My parents are very low key so this was a good vibe for them. Service is as one would expect and once we got seated and ordered, we almost never saw the servers again except when food came out. The food was tasty and enjoyable as a family dinner but it's nothing special. Bathrooms were quite dirty and the other half of the restaurant seemed like a prep area and quite messy. Came here for dinner with my parents and the food was okay, not amazing and not terrible. We got the family dinner for 3 which came with 4 courses. Bo tai chanh was interesting since I haven't had it before, but the beef was kinda tough. And the stir fried pork with veggies was alright. Very reminiscent of the veggies/sauce on mi xao gion so I didn't mind the flavor. Plenty of seating on a Saturday night. Readily available viet food in Westminster, but not my top choice. read more
I remember this place being SOOO good that there used to be the longest wait. It's been awhile since we've been now that there are so many new places popping up but it was early in the morning and we wanted to go somewhere nostalgic. First, it looks almost the exact same it did probably ten years ago which was fun. What was not so fun was the food. The bun rieu was very watered down and didn't have much flavor. My rice place was bland and I used almost half of the little pitcher of fish sauce they gave me. The meat in the pho had an off putting odor, same with the water. It just didn't seem like they are keeping up with the quality. I'm glad they're still in business and hope they improve the quality of their dishes because we would love to come back. read more

From the moment we sat down, we felt so welcomed. The owner personally came over to our table and walked us through the dishes, showing us how to eat them properly and which flavors paired best together. That level of care and hospitality made the whole experience feel extra special and gave the meal a personal touch you don't often find. I ordered the F11 and the Bún bò Huế soup, and both dishes were absolutely fantastic. The flavors were rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying -- you can really taste the freshness and care that goes into the food. The broth of the soup especially stood out, with that perfect blend of spice and depth that makes you want to savor every single spoonful. To top it off, I tried the pickled lemonade, which was such a refreshing surprise -- tangy, slightly sweet, and the perfect complement to the meal. Have been coming here for over 20 years and love their food. This is our go to Vietnamese restaurant in Southern CA. It's not fancy inside, but it's open late and the food is authentic and tastes good. We don't really get their pho or their soups. I'm not a fan of their broth, which I think is too sweet. Our favorite is the Crispy Imperial Rolls (A3), Steamed clams (A11), Shaken beef (E2 or B4) , and Vietnamese crepe (C7). I especially like the large side of mints and lettuce and their fish sauce. They have generous portions and we always leave feeling stuffed. read more
