The Greeneville culinary scene is not NYC. It's not even Johnson City. When I need my Asian taste buds scratched, Thai's Joy is my go-to. First, I don't think I've had better table service in Greeneville than at TJ. It's prompt with just enough check-backs to be sure drinks are filled, etc. If it's busy and the meal is taking a little longer, I get the quick update as the server passes by, so I'm not wondering what's going on in the kitchen. I'm a frequent lunch eater at TJ. They have a great selection of items, but my faves are General Tso's chicken or chicken pad Thai. Pretty basic you say? Sure, but if it's good, I won't complain about it. Dinner options are more expensive and to be honest I didn't see a huge difference in portions to the price increase. read more

Very unfortunate experience here. I am thinking this was just an off night for them, I hope. We asked the server how many pieces come in the nigiri and she informed us 8 pieces. When it came out it was 2 pieces with no warning or explanation. We ordered the rainbow roll and the orange roll came out. It had salmon and avocado on top with a house sauce poured over it. No tuna. I advised the server that we got the wrong roll. She treated me like I don't know sushi. I have eaten a lot of sushi at many different restaurants. She told me well, that's OUR rainbow roll. We ordered drinks that never came out. The service was rude, uninformed, and unprofessional. The food we did eat though not what we ordered and not what we were told we were receiving in quantity was delicious. I'm hoping that the waitress was just having a really really bad day. It seems to me that she needs to take her job more seriously, put on a friendly smile, treat the customer with respect and take the earbud out of her ear. This is really hard to put out there but I think this is absolutely the worst meal we have ever eaten here. I've always given them rave reviews but the quality was just bad. And it is really unfortunate. The glasses were filthy (told they haven't had a dishwasher in 5 years). The #111 lettuce wraps were just awful. The #107 gyoza came out streamed not fried and drowning in this sauce instead of with a dark sweet sauce and fried. I asked for them to be fried instead of steamed and they brought out the wrong dish. Then they brought the #104 Thai dumplings with fried garlic on top which is not what we ordered. The bang bang shrimp was good and the only thing we ate. I hope they can get it together. read more

A nice chilly and rainy fall evening calls for a big bowl of spicy pork Korean Noodle Soup & fried Gyoza from Thai's Joy in Greeneville, TN. I was greeted immediately by a friendly hostess who also served as my waitress. Very attentive and helpful in answering questions. The Gyoza arrived promptly. They were fresh, perfectly crisp and topped with a delicious sweet sauce served on a light bed of shredded lettuce. The generous big bowl of Korean Noodle Soup arrived moments afterward (would be enough for two people). The sauce was just the right amount of spicy, not too hot, but had my nose slightly running, eyes a little watery and sinuses completely clear. The flavors were spot on. This is *the* perfect comfort food to warm you right up on a chilly day. I ended up taking home 3/4 of my soup & a couple of my Gyoza. I highly recommend Thai's Joy and will definitely revisit in the future. read more

The place had this smell ...not deliciously tempting to stay in the restaurant and eat there but I had no choice. The service was not too shabby. I would not recommend this dish.
