Decided to give this place a try with my dad and son. The atmosphere is very laid back and not much to look at unless you sit outside but it's a small local restaurant. For Starters we had egg rolls and pork dumplings. They were delicious and fresh. I had the red curry chicken and to be honest the coconut overpowered the entire meal. It was way too sweet for me. My son had the yellow curry and the same thing it was coconut overpowering the meal. Dad had the meal of the night. The Bangkok noodles with chicken. It was amazing.. This is a different type of food than I'm used to and I decided to venture out. Impressive Thai cuisine in Kingsport. We tried the pad thai, chicken satay, spring rolls and crab rangoon. All was fresh and tasty. Chicken was tender and very flavorful. Liked the spice level in both the pad thai and peanut sauce with chicken satay. Folks were very nice and service was solid. Great place for Thai cuisine. Came here for a ladies lunch, the restaurant can accommodate large parties in one section and smaller ones in another. Stopping in for dinner while I'm on business. I liked the reviews and love Thai food. The fact that this is family owned makes it special too. The servers are very sweet. I've ordered my tea, half and half, perfect. The reviews on the crab rangoon and chicken fancy made me interested in trying both but I know there's no way I could eat that much. Rangoons were really good with a great dipping sauce. It was hard to stop eating them when my fancy "Chicken Fancy" came out. However, first bite in and I could tell I was going to enjoy it like everyone else has! It was wonderfully seasoned and extremely well flavored. Although I only saw one couple, eating on the patio, there were at least 9 or 10 people coming in for pickup during my first 30 min. After that, the place literally filled up!! This place could have been on DDD (Diners, Drive-in's, and Dives). A true Dive so don't go for the ambiance but the food is fabulous! We ordered take-out at the register. Service was friendly and prompt. Even though the restaurant was fast filling up we got our food and were on our way 15 minutes later. Prices were surprisingly reasonable. Wife ordered Mango fried rice with chicken and asked them to hold the egg. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and an order of spring rolls. First, the mango fried rice came exactly as ordered. (They left out the egg as asked. Obviously a kitchen that pays attention.) Wife loved it. My sweet and sour chicken was made with real chicken, not those deep fried fake nuggets, and was also excellent. Portions were good sized but not overly large. The spring rolls were crisp and tasty and the sweet and sour sauce for the rolls was the real deal. Nothing in packets! I have had a hankering for some good Asian food. One of my friends recommended this place. I placed a takeout order on a rainy Tuesday. I ordered Thai fried rice with shrimp and some spring rolls. I drove over to this place right off Nederland Inn road next to riverside. Exceptionally clean place and so quaint in its decor. As I waited for my order to be prepared, I perused the portions they had for dining in. Just a few tables but a very nice screened patio awaits nicer weather. Food wasn't bad but it's over-priced. I'm from Nashville and even there they don't charge $1.75 for one small spring-roll. There was only 4 in an order for $7. I thought it be comparable to Thai Noodle Town but it's much pricier with no better quality. I'm by no means cheap, but I find these prices absurd for what you get in return. read more

I've been to this restaurant three times since it opened, and, being from Atlanta, I'm no stranger to Thai cuisine. This is in an older building and is definitely "no frills" as far as decor. This is no big deal to me, as long as the food is good. The ventilation system could definitely use improvement, since, on a busy night, they're doing a lot of stir fry dishes. As for the food, I've been pretty pleased with it, overall. I was sad that they didn't have basil rolls, but I understand that there isn't a big demand for them up here. If they aren't served fresh, the wrappers will get rubbery, so I get why they don't serve them. I had the hot basil chicken. It had quite a bit of heat on it, so if you don't like spicy food (I do), you might ask them to make it milder. Their coconut milk, chicken lemongrass soup was very good. My mother really liked the Massaman Curry. My daughter's Red Curry had a bit too much salt in it. The Pad Thai was okay, but not great. I've had the fried rice with thai basil and mango and it was very good. My daughter says the Thai tea (has cream in it, just so you know) was really good. The service is good, although when it gets crowded, it's a little slow. More importantly, they've always gotten the orders right. read more

Our twosome won't for lunch on a Wednesday and all of the tables were in play.. I measure a new Thai restaurant by their ability and present classic Pad Thai and these forks deliver. I've recommended this place to a number of people. My brother and I had dinner there a couple of days ago. I love Thai food and prepare it myself often. We ordered spring rolls and dumplings as appetizers. They were apparently deep fried to the point you could break your teeth out on them. We waited for nearly 15 minutes before our very sullen waitress brought us menus and eventually, drinks. The food was just okay. No carrot flowers or anything like the photos. Tables near us were also waiting for service and then food. They were not thrilled and we spoke openly about the poor service. The food was pretty good. The service was not good at all. If you want a friendly Thai experience, go to Thai Noodle Town. I really, really wanted to give this place a good review, so I'm sorry to say I'm disappointed. I don't think I'll eat here again. If you like Thai cuisine, Thai Riverside will not disappoint. It's not fancy inside but the outside deck overlooking the Holston river and the Greenbelt setting is great.
