Having moved here recently from FL, I was missing my fav sushi restaurant. A quick local search and I found the Rice Box. Reading all the positive reviews, I had to give them a try. This little local fam owned restaurant is awesome. I love small locally owned fam restaurants like this, they're almost always a hidden treasure. Don't let looks deceive you. This small building is harboring some edible magic! Everyone was so sweet, kind & friendly. A very open, relaxing and welcoming environment for dine-in as well. Absolutely delicious hibachi and sushi. Not being able to make up my mind between hibachi & sushi, I decided to order a couple of the Happy Boxes (and so glad I did). Very generous portions and their prices are very affordable. I really like the Happy Box option which allows you to try a little bit of this & a little bit of that. I also purchased a side of Fried Dumplings. The Happy Box Crab Rangoon filling was nice and full, the Hibachi shrimp were huge, and the sushi (Easter Roll & California Roll) were fresh & delicious! As I waited for my to-go order at the bar counter, I watched one of their sushi masters working his magic creating some beautiful works of edible sushi art. I already know what sushi I'll be ordering on my next visit (must try the "Ichabod" roll!). I'll definitely be returning soon and highly recommend you give them a try as well. read more

I went here for dinner with my brother and his wife. We ordered hot and sour soup, wanton soup, egg rolls, a triple delight entree and a teriyaki chicken entree. The soup and egg rolls came out first. The hot and sour soup was very think, and not much warmer than room temperature. The wonton soup was warmer, the wontons were very doughy with very little flavor. The egg rolls were good, but the dipping sauce had an odd flavor to it. When the dinner entrees came out they were very large portions, probably intended to be eaten family style. The chicken teriyaki sauce tasted more like honey than teriyaki, the chicken itself was very tasty under the sauce and well prepared. The rice (fried) was just brown rice without any extras you normally see like onion, egg, and carrot. The tripe delight (maybe triple combo, not sure on the exact name) was chicken, beef, and shrimp with mixed vegetables and brown sauce. The dish was plenty of meat, which was nice, the meat was cooked perfect, as were the vegetables. The sauce was normal brown garlic sauce, nothing special. We asked for some chili garlic oil to add some flavor to it. The experience was completely average. I would return there, and this is the first Chinese meal I've had in Greeneville and will be trying other places before returning here. The sweet tea was fresh and had a good flavor. The steamed rice was as you would expect. The waitress couldn't communicate English very well. read more

Went there for the first time to try out today. Compared to some of the other Asian food places in town it was good. There wasn't weird smells coming from the bathroom or strange corner of the building. This not being buffet and that's what I'm use to maybe the issue yet seemed to be less food for the price. Yet food tasted good. Service good. Plenty of room inside to walk around, big parking lot that didn't have large pot holes. Seems ok. read more

Absolutely, amazing sushi at a super low price. Their maki rolls are huge with 8 pieces, very filling. They have a very, very wide assortment of sushi: Dragon Roll, Dynamite Roll (Has Scrumptious Shrimp Tempura), even Eel and of course the regulars. Their website is beautiful (Just Like Their restaurant) is and very modern. The service was amazing and one of the waiters even had traditional garments that just really helped with the atmosphere of the place. The walls are also adorned with photos of the Great Wall, the beautiful mountains of southern China and other wonderful photos and paintings.I'll be sure to visit again. Rice Box is a good place to satisfy your Asian food craving. Been coming here since it opened up a few months ago and have enjoyed the food here so far - Hot n Sour soup, wonton soup, crab rangoons, chicken cashew, hibachi and various noodle dishes. I love sushi rolls, this is the only place in town that I know where I can order sushi and maki rolls! Yes there are much better Chinese/Japanese food if one lived in a big city by the coast where there is fresh fish but, hey, for small town Greeneville I'll take it as this is a welcomed addition. I had an awful experience here and will never go back. I got a few different things to eat and it was disgusting to me. I spoke to the manager about it and since I didn't eat any of the food I had but 1 bite and said I didn't want to pay for it cuz I didn't eat it and gave it back.and sure enough they had the nerve to still charge me full price. I can't vouch for eating in the place except that it takes forever to get your order if you order it there to take out - BUT you do tend to get what you ordered. You can order online and say when you want to pick it up - which we did the second or third time we got take-out from them - I AM TELLING YOU TO CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE THERE! I ordered 5 orders of 2 egg rolls and orange chicken which came with 1 egg roll. When we got home with it we had the orange chicken and its LITTLE egg roll - maybe as big around as your thumb. AND ONE (1) ORDER OF2 EGG ROLLS in a separate little bag that were about 1 1/2 inches big - normal sized egg rolls. The receipt showed that we paid for 5 orders of 2 egg rolls! We called and they said to come back the next day and get 4 more orders of 2 egg rolls - we did and they sent me 8 LITTLE THUMB SIZED EGG ROLLS and SWORE that was the only size they had!!! We just got BOTH sized in the order the night before and they STILL insisted they only had one size egg rolls!!! THEY ACT LIKE THEY CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU [English] but don't kid yourself - they're sneaky, cheater, liars and will short you every chance they get and they know every word you are saying! I AM REPORTING THIS TO MY CREDIT CARD FOR THEM TO FIX THIS! I know, $8 is chicken feed but this is about the principal of the matter. TRUST ME- CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOULEAVE THIS JOINT, you can not trust them! BTW, the orange chicken was as "tough as leather" and NOT breast meat!
