I ordered a beef salad and beef stir fry. I have to say I was very disappointed base on the raving reviews on this place. The food has a good taste and it is pretty pricey so I expected better quality of the food. The taste is very good but the quality of the meat is very cheap. It taste gamey and had a tough texture to the meat. I would not order from here again. We were looking for thai food while we are driving home from lake tahoe, it was an accident that we came here because our 1st choice was close, but oh men we were so happy we came here because this was the best thai food I have ever tasted here in the US. The food is fantastic! I always use Pad Thai as a litmus test for Thai food places and this one passed with flying colors. You can't go wrong. Everything I ordered was delicious. There are reviews that say there are issues with the wait staff. I did take out and I could see what those reviews are talking about, but give them a break. They are trying and the food is worth it. The issues are only temporary because they are understaffed (Hiring Sign is up) and probably in a transitionary period while the owners are adjusting to the increased call-in volume due to Covid. Me and my husband have been looking and trying different thai restaurants since we moved. And no luck on making any our favorite, until we found this place!!! We tried a variety of their dishes and the flavor was on point! We are huge thai food fans, very picky also. Not a lot of places get the mango and sticky rice right also, but theirs is great. We kid you not we would come here about once a week lol. Their service is awesome also, very patient, kind, and dont forget to come back to you. The prices on every dish is not overpriced also. The food is great particularly for Placerville but the service was terrible. Maybe they were overrun by people visiting Apple Hill for Halloween but we waited over an hour to get our food after being seated. There were several families waiting with restless kids. One man with his toddler and an infant had to ask for his to go because the kids couldn't wait any longer and the infant was restless. Even after asking he still had to pace the lobby for 20 minutes. A woman at the table next to me kept giving us dirty looks and told her husband really loud that she "took her kids outside" when they were acting up. Which we were doing but it wouldn't have been necessary if we weren't waiting so long. read more

2.5 stars. We were so hungry, and we had originally tried to go to the Teriyaki place in the nearby strip mall (which didn't work because the language barrier prevented us finding out if broths and such were vegetarian), so we were overdue for dinner and after a day of traveling. Felt so good to come into this place and get seated right away. Staff were very accommodating letting us switch to a window booth, which helped keep our kiddo entertained (e.g., counting cars going by). Waitress was good at helping make sure we got vegetarian food. We got an order of egg roles "Fried Spring Rolls" that came out relatively quickly, and we devoured them. They were good -- not too greasy, which is always the risk. But then it took forever and ever to get our meal. I didn't time it, wish I had, but it was like a half hour or more afterwards. This was a long wait for grown-ups, but especially hard to keep our 4.5 year old seated and entertained. During this time, no one stopped by to check on us at all, not even to fill waters or take away the empty egg roll plate, much less give us an update on our food. Finally it came, and it was ok. Kind of goopy and on the sweet side. I was so hungry I just ate and ate at that point, but I recognize that the food wasn't wonderful. Not bad, for example the broccoli was tender and not tough or overcooked. Atmosphere was pleasant. I'd go back but definitely would prefer to try other places. 2.5 stars. read more

Unique Thai exceeded my expectations. Living in San Francisco my pallet is fine tuned to the ancient flavors of Thai cuisine. If one were to drive by it can easily be mistaken for a bank. But don't be fooled by its drab exterior, as the inside transports you to the throws of an authentic Bangkok eatery. Upon entering I was taken aback by it's gorgeous dark stained wood decor and it's classic Thai artwork display. For a moment I had forgotten I was in Placerville, CA. The seating arrangements can accommodate any situation from a intimate date to a large banquet. I was greeted by a friendly young gentleman who embodies the kind Thai spirit. He was accommodating, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable of the cuisine, as well as, the wine. For under $20 a crushable thirst quenching Chilean white wine pairs nicely with any dish. I ordered the pad see ew, as well as, pad prik. For those unfamiliar with Thai food the pad see ew is a noodle dish; whereas, the pad prik is a stir fry. While the menu indicated a "chili pepper" icon next to the pad prik, I found the flavors to be extremely mild. However, the crispness of the water chestnuts married well with balanced sauce of the stir fry. As the first bite of the pad see ew touched my tongue I could truly tell this was a winning dish. The perfectly cooked broccoli and succulent pieces of chicken landed themselves exquisitely into the tangles of saucy noodles. Very pleased about a Thai option that doesn't involve a 25 minute drive to Folsom. Solid 4 stars or a "Placerville 5" - the new ownership has helped. Tried several curries and noodle dishes and they have all been really great. Big pieces of fresh veggies. A good richness and flavor to the curries. Overall very happy with this place. Servers are friendly but a small staff. I could see them getting overwhelmed quickly. Try the Evil Jungle Noodle - it's fantastic, and with a name like that you can't go wrong! read more

I'm keeping my 5 star for this area...but a couple things. Thai spicy should be *almost* too hot and I'm feeling like they just don't believe that anyone here could handle it. Also, usually I make my husband go get the food so I'd never been inside the restaurant until recently. Might I suggest a little music/ambience? I seriously heard a woman belch while I was picking up my food. I can't imagine conversations would be remotely private either when it's library-quiet. We got the massaman curry, which was almost too spicy for me, but good flavor, the Giew Tod, ground chicken in wontons with sweet and sour sauce, which were quite tasty, and Pra Ram. We came here for lunch after a pleasant morning on Apple Hill. We are not yet comfortable with indoor dining during the pandemic, but they had a couple tables outdoors so we got to enjoy our meal outside. We were not expecting Thai food this good in Placerville! I got a drunken noodle and it was comprable to our favorite spots in Sacramento (Orchid Thai, The House of Authentic Ingredients) and cheaper. My fiance got the Evil Jungle Noodle that was a very tasty hybrid of curry and noodle, in case you have a hard time deciding between the two (which I always do at Thai restaurants!) I go there at least once a week and everything I go there I'm never disappointed. The girl who works there I still don't know her name but she is the nicest and attentive. My boyfriend and I went there on a whim one night and where amazed at food and service! So we went back there tonight and yes it was dinner so a wait is to be expected. We were seated right away, and that's about the only time we were recognized. It took the waitress about 10 min ,after another couple walked in, to take our order. This is where disappointing and disbelief set in. So we ordered before this other couple and yet the couple that came in behind us got their appetizers and meal and we had still yet to have anything on our table. This place is very authentic, it feels like you're in Thailand and it has a magical atmosphere. This place seems to be a family owned business with all the great benefits that comes with it, it was an excellent choice after days of eating in big chain restaurant that has no "soul" or authenticity. Worst experience ever. The serving was awful. Avoid this place if you can. A big bowl of soup was served without bowls for everybody. We had to ask the extra bowls. They never gave the soup spoons too. They were brought later to the extra bowls. By the time they got the spoons, the soup was already cold. They took literally over an hour to bring the main course food. Kids got too hungry and When we asked to cancel the order, the Asian lady who was serving threatened us that they cant cancel the order. She was so rude that she won't listen and walk away for what we have to say. After all this, they got us the entry meal without the side rice. When we asked about it, she says it will be an extra dollar. She is bossing around with the boys in the counter and she won't let the boys cancel the order. When we inquired about the delay, they were boasting the restaurant was full on the other side when there were only guests in one more table other than us. The other side of the restaurant was actually empty with the boxes on the floor. we being the last customers eating, they switched off the AC when we were still eating. Imagine our plight being with little kids especially when the outside temperature was freezing (Around 38 F). Never tell them you are non-locals and you are visiting Placerville. They can surprise you with rude and very much ugly customer service. read more
