    Pad See Ew with Beef
    Kiara S.

Second time trying this place and I approve. You can order at a kiosk or at the register and service is always prompt. However, the layout is a bit tight and right on the corner of the street so seating fills up quickly. Drinks are self serve so just grab what you'd like. I had the beef pad see ew today and it was really good! The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. The beef was seasoned well and tender and the chewiness of those fat rice noodles were such an addicting bite. I tried the chicken panang last time and it is a bit sweet for my taste, but still good. I definitely want to come by to try more of the menu. Their portions are more than enough and I'd say it's worth trying out. There is normally never a wait and my food arrives quickly which makes Thai Noodle Express a great stop for lunch!

Their noodle and curry dishes are 10/10! Cute little outdoor seating area and quick service and online ordering and pay for easy pick up

We stopped in for lunch on the way back from Lake Tahoe. We were very impressed with their tasty curry bowls that included fresh ingredients with plenty of sauce. The dishes were served quickly. The old town setting was perfect.

We eat in from time to time when we come in to Placerville and always have a good experience. The gyoza appetizers are always well crisped with the right amount of filling and the spring rolls are fresh and crunched to perfection. We try different meals most times and are never disappointed, it's always deliciously flavorful. The service and vibe is always friendly and welcoming and unpretentious. Slide your little self in here, shovel some tasty Thai scran in your pie-hole and enjoy life.

Self serve ordering of you like, they also have counter ordering.

We were not in a hurry and were told around 6 minutes for our order (which seemed way too quick). It took about 20 minutes which, again, was absolutely fine because we were in no rush. But a better expectation should be set. Also, they were out of the ingredients for at least 3 of the pies and the dough on the Ireland was a bit undercooked on the edge. The interior is very small with one table (3 seats) and a counter (2 seats). The business is attached to and run by the same people who own the Enchanted Forest. The decorations are fake ivy leaves and fake bark with moss on the walls and ceilings. Unfortunately, these things are difficult to keep clean and, therefore, carry a hefty amount of dust in the Enchanted Forest side where the restroom is located. Also, the fan in the Pastry shop looks like it has not been cleaned in 10 years. The employee handled dirty plates with the same gloved hand that he then used to continue making our food. Not sure I would return.

Looks like you would probably have a quiet space to yourself if you wanted to have kids here. When we came, we would have the place to ourselves. Open door fresh air. Lots of live plants I love it. Really nice guy running the place. Friendly attentive, but not hovering there is a TV here riding off in the distance and it has cooking shows running on it which is fun but no sound I think but nice to watch. The music writing in here is nice. The decor in here is lovely and authentic looking. It's very clean in here. They have high chairs for small children, unique table settings. Crab Rangoons - wow! Taste homemade fresh! These are made how they're supposed to be made with an emphasis on crab and the crisp phyllo dough perfect crispy, crunchy light and airy compliments the appetizer- they're not super greasy they're clean and it really honors the crab. It's not overwhelmingly cream cheese and the sweet-and-sour sauce is amazing. It's not like that red heavily syrup sauce. It's a lighter sauce like honey almost? Left me wanting more. Khao soi (curry chicken mild) Amazing flavor profile! I have to admit I was not expecting a giant drumstick in my meal, but that's because the other place I went always had chopped chicken in there and I gotta tell you it was refreshing because it was really fresh and tasty. I just wasn't used to deconstructing my own chicken so I'm weird like that I guess but it was really good. I probably would've liked more vegetables in it, but the taste is just divine. There's some carrot and onion in there a little bit of pepperoncini too! Yummy! I ordered a mild because I'm a wimp! It's a curry style dish. It has these amazing noodles on them. They are crunchy on the top and they get soggy on the bottom and that texture difference is just amazing. Give it a try. Pad See Ew (beef) Big flat noodles, kind of a sweet dish, no spiciness here so if you're worried about anything being spicy, this is a good dish for you. Kind of savory and sweet very tasty very filling. The broccoli was to die for it was cooked perfectly. Green Curry (chicken) Medium-A true medium the head builds and is tasty. Saucy without being thick, a good thin consistency. Fair amount of chicken. Veggies lots of them,, eggplant, carrot, bamboo shoots, onion and green beans. Added some jasmine rice for perfection. And we have drunken noodles to go, so we might post those pictures later! Thank you for being open at 3 o'clock! We originally went up the hill for a Thai food and they were closed early at 2:20 then went on a mad rush to find anybody who was open at three because we had to come back down the hill :(

Yay! Our new favorite lunch place on Main Street!…read more We just stopped by last weekend, we've been wanting to try this place out but it just hadn't happened.... Last Monday we decided to have lunch there, one of our regular places is closed Mondays and this place was open so we checked it out...and we're SO SO glad we did! Atmosphere was nice and server was very friendly from the moment we walked in. First thing I noticed; $5 mimosas!! I asked if they did anything other than orange juice and yes, they had several other options so I had the cranberry version. Delicious! I went with their mac and cheese, my partner got the basic hamburger. Mac and Cheese -- definitely very bacon forward, much more than I prefer. That being said, I still liked it, it also had sour cream and green onion on top. Bacon lovers will LOOOVE this version, there is LOTS of it and every bite you can taste it. Normally I prefer my mac & cheese with no bacon or just a bit here and there, I prefer to taste more of the cheeses.....again, it still tasted good, its a good serving and I ate half and had enough to save for the next day at work. Creamy and well made, again I just prefer to taste more cheese than bacon. I wouldn't order this again but like I said, a bacon lover will LOVE this version. Now, my partner's burger was Incredible. We are PICKY with our burgers, and we both thought this one was fantastic. Big, and great ratio to the bun. He ordered it medium and asked for "a little char" and they made it perfectly. I took a bite and yeah, I'd order that for sure. The fries were great, too. Overall we were super happy with our lunch, I thought it was priced fairly as well. We will definitely be back!!

I'll give 2* because the food (when it came) was great…read more We've been to Franny's a couple times before and had O.K. service and good food. The pitfalls of the restaurant seem to be entirely the service. Most recently we went to Franny's on Mother's Day. We had reservations and walked in, on time. We were initially sat in a nice booth in the front of the restaurant. It was my wife and I plus our 2 kids, the table size seemed appropriate. After being sat, we sat without talking to a server for 10+ minutes, not even getting waters. Eventually, when someone did come, it was a waitress/hostess telling us that there had been a mix up, and we needed to move. We weren't excited on the idea, as we were happy where we were, but we moved to the back of the restaurant. This time we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. At this point it is 9:25 and we've been seated for 25 minutes without even water. Finally a waitress comes, and takes our drink order, and our food order as we'd definitely had ample time to look over the menu. About 9:50 the food arrives. My wife and kids' food comes and is great. My food comes and looks off, and the waitress tells me that the kitchen accidentally made me a "veggie" scramble instead of the chorizo that I had ordered, but that she'd get me some bacon and all was well. I asked what was in the veggie scramble and was told it has mushrooms, which is a hard pass for me. She told me she could have what I had actually ordered made but it would "take a long time". I said O.K. - what else was I going to do? Finally it comes, and my wife is done eating, and the kids are close, so, I asked for it to be "boxed up". The waitress rolled her eyes and set to the task. I'm not a restaurant snob - but I really expected an apology or something to be "comp'd" due to the rough experience, but nope, full bill and no apology. Regrettably, despite Franny's being a local joint and having good food, we won't be back.

So there I was... sitting on an oil rig in Alaska, talking to a sheriff's deputy with over 20 years…read moreon the job. He says, "My buddies keep telling me about this place called Pho King Good." Funny part? Even he had never been there. Well, that little story stuck with me. Fast forward a few weeks. My road trip partner, Koda, and I are heading home from Disneyland, cutting through Sacramento toward Grass Valley. We roll into Auburn and BOOM there it is. Pho King Good. Now let's just take a second to appreciate that name. If you're gonna swing for the fences with a name like Pho King Good, you've set the bar about as high as Mount Everest. You don't get to be "pretty decent." You'd better make me question every bowl of pho I've ever eaten. The sign? Absolutely iconic. It practically jumps out and hollers at you from the side of the road. Easy in, easy out. Road-tripper approved. Walking inside, though, I was expecting a little more "Pho King Palace" and a little less "we've been meaning to remodel since the Clinton administration." The marble counter looked nice enough, but the place just felt like it needed a little love. If I owned a restaurant with a name that good, I'd lean into it. Give me lanterns. Give me atmosphere. Make me feel like the King just walked in. Charge me another couple bucks if you have to I wouldn't mind if the experience matched the name. Then came the menu. It felt a little like Dysfunction Junction. They had everything listed, but it wasn't organized in a way that made ordering easy. Give me sections. House Pho. Beef Pho. Chicken Pho. Special Pho. Help a hungry traveler out. The food? Solid... right down the middle of the road. After hours in the car, a hot bowl of pho hits the spot no matter what. Koda really enjoyed his chicken dish, and our vegetable egg rolls with the peanut sauce were decent, although the wrapper was just a touch on the rubbery side. The owner was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable, which always counts for something. My only real disappointment was this: with a name like Pho King Good, I expected to leave saying, "That's the best pho I've ever had." Instead, I left saying, "That was... good." And then came the plot twist. Time to pay. Cash only. So now I'm walking out to the ATM like I'm making a withdrawal for a back-alley poker game or a dispensary run. I'm standing there thinking, "Well... this tip just took a hit because I wasn't planning on paying an ATM fee for my noodles." I still don't quite understand it. You're giving change, printing receipts, running a business... we're already 95% of the way to taking cards! Overall, this wasn't about whether the food was amazing or terrible. It was about the experience. Sometimes that's the story worth telling. Would I stop again on another road trip? Probably. Because sometimes a bowl of pho, your best buddy Koda riding shotgun, and a restaurant with the greatest pun in California are all you really need. And if they ever decide to polish the place up and make it live up to that legendary name... It might just become Pho King Great.

VEGAN SIGHTING!!! I…read moredon't even know where to start my fellow vegans. This quirky, Vietnamese restaurant in the city of Auburn, CA, has by far the best vegan Banh Mi sandwich. The tofu was prepared so it did not take up the whole sandwich. The pickled radish and carrots had the perfect and balanced of sour and sweet. Of course, can't leave out the herbs of cilantro and fresh jalapinjoes. The french bread was crispy outside but still soft and hearty as you take a bite. My earth was it a 2 thumbs up!!! Then their vegan pho with veggies and tofu did not disappoint. Their veggie broth was perfectly blended and made wonderfully that I was not even thinking this was vegan. The staff was kind and informative. They were attentive and friendly. Then comes the merch. If you like a play on the word Pho, then come and check out their shirts for sale. All I have to say is "Life is Pho king good." With this said, another gem in Auburn, CA.
