Delicious cucumber salad I drank the juice!

I got takeout of a Thai iced tea and cucumber salad and it was really delicious. I'm happy that I went there for that. The service was quick, but I can't speak to the ambience because we got takeout.

Its the only Thai restaurant we found that was open late so we went for it. We were in town and overnight stay Appearance - lacking in everything I'm used to seeing in a Thai restaurant. It needs a lot of love but it had the need, clean tables and chairs and a menu :) Food: Eggs rolls, drunken noodles, crab fried rice and chicken larb Presentation: Simple Portion: Decent Taste: Mid Nothing really stood out on any of the dishes other than it came our fresh and hot. We wanted to really liked it, it served the purpose of filling our empty stomach and we were happy with that. This is a family run business and I love supporting such so I have no regret giving them my business. The hostess/server was really sweet and attentive. An older man with white hair came to check in on us a fee times, filled our water.

Thai Stick has been our regular spot for Thai Food for over a decade now. Although there are other Thai restaurants closer to our house, we haven't strayed much from this place much at all. Prior to Covid, Thai Stick used to stay open late, sometimes after midnight, especially during the weekends. Their late-night hours likely had a big influence on our loyalty to the restaurant. The food, too, of course. Our favourites are: LARB CHICKEN ($13.95) - Tangy, bright, and yummy. Wish that it had rice powder for a slight crunch in texture and roasted fragrance, a bit more mint, and whole lettuce leaves to eat in cups. THAI STICK SALAD (with no BBQ Chicken for $10.95) - LOVE this salad, but often need to order extra dressing/Peanut Sauce ($3.00) because the serving is generous. YELLOW CURRY (with Chicken for $17.95) - Creamy deliciousness. PUMPKIN CURRY (with Vegetables or Chicken for $17.95) - DJ's go-to curry because he loves pumpkin. GARLIC & PEPPER Beef ($17.95) - Very flavourful, goes perfectly well with steamed white rice. PAD THAI (with Chicken for $16.95) - Of all the Thai noodle dishes, Pad Thai is DJ's #1. Thai Stick's version is not bad, but I have had tastier at other places. Sweet Sticky Rice & Mango ($9.00) - The mango is always very soft. Roti (Thai Sweet Pan Cake, $5.00) - A simple, but delightful dessert. Thai Ice Tea ($3.00) - What is a Thai meal without Thai Ice Tea? Order it here, you won't be disappointed. As for the venue, the place would benefit from a good cleaning and maybe even a renovation. The building is run-down with carpet coming undone at wall edges, filthy window sills, dirty baseboards, chipped paint, etc. The women's restroom is surprisingly clean, but the hallway that leads to the bathrooms is like a storage space with cardboard boxes of supplies stacked against the wall. Service is nice, though, even when ordering to go. At our last take-out order, we were given a complimentary order of Roti. During that same visit, I saw a table sitting with their little Yorkshire Terrier at the table. So happy to see that Thai Stick is dog friendly, even indoors!

I've been loving the food at this place since 2008. Candidly, I tend to stick to the same items, but the food has been consistent in my intermittent visits. It's not overly glamorous in here, but I'm not there for the decor. I just want a satisfying meal. I have noticed less people in here lately as the stores around expand and change. It makes me sad to see this place a little quieter these days - but the service is just as nice and friendly as ever. I hope to keep coming back for my classic go-to meal.

Our second time here and the food was good again. The gai yang was so good with the chicken so tender. The rock cod fish with the sweet tamarind sauce was exquisite, and the texture of the fried fish with something that taste like bread crumbs was just so good to bite into. Service was great, good vibe, I like how they open late and accommodating for late nights from the airport. The owner is also always a pleasure to talk to, a charming, sharp and jovial fellow who has been in this business for 40 or so years!

First time trying and so glad I did. Been looking for yellow curry similar to Osha Thai in SF and this was similar. Egg rolls & Thai iced tea were pretty good. Friend got spicy drunken noodles and boy it was she liked it! It was almost noon and surprised it wasn't crowded yet perhaps because it was raining. The lady was friendly and attentive. Had cute golden statues & couple tvs.

Thai Stick is an amazing restaurant in downtown Millbrae, just off the exit from SFO airport! When you walk into this restaurant, you feel like it's more of a home feeling as you're immediately greeted by staff and seated with a friendly smile. The place is simple, but the food is soo good! I've been here many times and the food never disappoints. My favourite is the minced chicken, Thai spicy hot level with a fried egg on top. My friend ordered pad see ewe noodles with beef and looked and tasted so good! When you're having your meal, staff check on you and make sure you're satisfied. The owner and cook Paul is often in the kitchen making the delicious meals, but will occasionally walk around and chat with customers. The ambiance feels more like you're having a family dinner at a home with a relaxed atmosphere and conversations with staff. The price point is where you'd expect for a good, filling meal. If you're in Millbrae, I suggest you go give it a go! Parking is street parking and fairly easy to find a spot with parking lots around.

Food was great! We had yellow chicken curry and prawns with vegetables in bean sauce. Very friendly family service. Changed TV for us to playoff game. Was quiet in the later dinner hour midweek. Nicer than typical strip mall Thai restaurant.

The San Francisco Bay Area has to be one of the most vibrant food destinations on the planet…read more Within a short drive, your culinary passport can take you from Mexico to Japan, Italy to India, the Philippines to Vietnam...and today...THAILAND. No TSA. No baggage fees. No middle seat. So here we are in South San Francisco at White Elephant Restaurant, ready for a little culinary tourism. First up...Papaya Salad aka Som Tum. Fresh, crunchy green papaya, beans, and peanuts delivered that wonderful Thai balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy. Crisp, tangy, refreshing...and then...HELLO CHILI PEPPER!!! A perfect wake-up call for the taste buds. While perusing the menu, however, my eyes suddenly locked onto one magical word...BACON. Wait...BACON?!?!? Enter the Prawn Rolls...bacon-wrapped prawns tucked inside wonton wrappers, golden-fried and served with sweet chili sauce. Whoever decided prawns needed to be wrapped in bacon, wrapped AGAIN in wonton skin, and dropped into hot oil...I salute you. Crispy outside, juicy inside, smoky from the bacon, then sweet and spicy from the chili sauce. Every bite soothed my gushing taste buds!!! Apparently, bacon speaks fluent Thai. Next came the Basil Fish which was a medley of golden-fried snapper fillets sautéed with basil, garlic, onions, bell peppers, and chilies in a spicy red sauce. The fish remained crisp outside and tender inside, while the basil, garlic, peppers, and chilies created this wonderful aromatic combination of savory, spicy goodness. Soooo goooood!!! But you can't dine at a Thai restaurant without ordering curry and I'm pretty sure that's somewhere in the international dining rulebook. Our Red Curry with Beef arrived simmering with beef, bamboo shoots, basil, bell peppers, and coconut milk. One spoonful...and there it was. That wonderful velvety richness of coconut milk balancing the curry's heat and umami depth with subtle sweetness. Rich without becoming heavy, spicy without requiring emergency assistance. You GOTTA order this one. And don't forget the rice! The Crab Fried Rice mingled succulent crab meat with fragrant jasmine rice, delivering sweet crab flavor among beautifully seasoned grains. It wasn't merely a side dish. It was the supporting actor stealing scenes from the movie. Finally...Thai Mango Sticky Rice. Sweet ripe mango, chewy glutinous rice, coconut milk, and coconut cream. After an evening of sweet, sour, salty, spicy, crispy, garlicky, and bacony goodness, this dessert arrived like a massage therapist saying..."You've had a long evening. I'll take it from here." Sweet, creamy, tropical, and refreshing. Overall: 5 stars. The Som Tum woke up the palate. The Prawn Rolls proved bacon improves international diplomacy. The Basil Fish delivered crispy, spicy goodness. The Red Curry with Beef brought coconut-rich comfort. The Crab Fried Rice satisfied, and the Mango Sticky Rice landed the plane. White Elephant has been part of the South San Francisco dining landscape for more than 20 years, and I hope we're eating here for another 20. Culinary passport stamped. Bacon discovered. Curry consumed. Taste buds satisfied. Come hungry...and Go Big!!!

It's a decent local Thai spot, but I did find the food to be average. It was good but underwhelming. What we ordered: Pad Thai Papaya Salad Eggrolls Mango Sticky Rice FOOD: 7/10 The food was fine overall, but nothing really stood out this time. It just didn't have that wow factor that makes me want to come back right away. It's good in a pinch if you're nearby and craving Thai food, but not super memorable compared to other spots in the Bay. SERVICE: 8/10 Service was fine and standard. The lady who served us was very nice. AMBIANCE: 7/10 The restaurant itself is casual and comfortable, with a simple, neighborhood Thai spot feel. I did really like the artwork and paintings throughout, as well as the small shrine they have, which added character and authentic culture to the space. The lighting pieces were also a nice touch. Overall, White Elephant is an okay go-to if you're nearby and want something quick and familiar, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way for.

So when not one but two of my passengers recommended Thai Nakorn, I had to try it -- plus, good Thai restaurants between San Francisco and San Mateo are few and far between. Unfortunately, I was not as enthusiastic about it as they were. I had chicken satay and Massaman Curry with chicken. The satay was fine. I've had some very special satays (esp at places in Foster City and Larkspur) but this was somewhat average. I would have liked the chicken to have been grilled just a tad more, and the peanut sauce was just a tad salty. The Massaman -- I should have known better. Real, traditional Massaman uses either beef stew chunks or chicken drumsticks -- in other words, you don't choose a protein -- it's cooked overnight so the beef or chicken become infused with the sweet, magical ingredients of the Massaman, and it has perfectly cooked potatoes and slightly burnt peanuts, and sometimes onions. Just the smell of it puts you into ecstasy. Unfortunately, that was not what they had at Nakorn. They gave you a choice of protein. I always tell people if a Thai restaurant offers Massaman with a choice of protein, pass it by. I broke my own rule because of the rave reviews my passengers gave me. But I ended up very disappointed. The curry was ... fine. But it had no defined taste like Yellow or Panang have. It was kind of 'generic curry.' The potatoes were undercooked, and there were no peanuts (I asked for them to leave out the onion, which usually interferes with the natural curry flavor, imho). The pieces of chicken breast were fine. Not the fault of the restaurant, but the people at the next table were pretty loud in conversation, as if they were dining in their home kitchen, and it made the experience less pleasurable than it could have been. But I get that happens from time to time. However, I must add: the server was excellent. Very friendly and professional. She actually was very sweet and we had a lovely chat at the end of my meal. I may give them another chance and try their pad thai, Tom Kha soup (which the next table was racing about) and Panang, which the server suggested. But, unfortunately, I won't be rushing back.

Texture was good and there was plenty of fish to go around. The pork noodles were deeply savory but the pops of pickled vegetables against the silky rice noodles also really hit the spot. If automatic gratuity for a party of three is Mingalaba's standard policy, it should be clearly disclosed and consistently applied. If it isn't, then I think customers deserve an explanation for why it was added to our bill. Ladies, especially--check your bill before you tip.
