This place has delicious Thai food!!!!!! It was exactly what I was craving. The eggplant with chicken was so unique and delicious. It was less saucy than I normally see and I LOVED it. We ordered the Pad See Ew and it was also delicious!! I also liked the green curry. I would definitely go back to try more of their stir fry's. We were served right away even though there were five other tables and they served us water promptly when we ran out. They seemed like a small family run restaurant. There were 20 or so spots to park in a lot and plenty of street parking. There's a cool pedestrian bridge that spans over the freeway right across the restaurant. A very cool, unique spot! read more

I've come here a couple times when I'm in Pacifica. This small restaurant feels like a family run business. It's nice to support smaller local businesses, especially ones off the beaten path. It's on a quiet street with not much else around it. Great place to go if you want a quiet meal. Their menu is on their website, however, the prices haven't been updated in quite a while. Refer to their in-restaurant menu for current pricing. It was very easy to place my order by phone, and it didn't take long for my order to be ready. My food has always been ready by the time I reach the restaurant. Parking has never been a problem. There is a huge parking lot next to the restaurant, plus some street parking right out front. This place has that small local family restaurant vibe. If you're expecting a modern, high energy, trendy experience, and being waited by saccharine servers ... well, then this isn't the place for you. The older grandpa-like gentleman who greets customers is quite nice. It's clear English is not his native language, and I can see how this might contribute to people getting the impression that he is rude. Don't be put off by this. I know people, whose native language in English (myself included), who are still struggling with the English language. - Pad Thai with chicken This is something I almost always get when I go to a Thai restaurant. It's one of those "must haves". It's your standard pad thai dish. - Pad See Ew with chicken You'll like this if you like Chinese Chow Fun, they both have the wide flat noodles. This dish skews a bit on the sweet side. I wasn't expecting this the first time I had this dish. Thai Tapioca with coconut milk(?) on top Not on the menu. This was a complimentary dessert they threw in with my most recent order. It was so yummy, I forgot to take a photo of it after digging into it. Stumbled upon this place after a hike, took a chance and was not disappointed. Family owned restaurant, they work quickly and efficiently. As soon as we sat down, we had a feeling it'd be good. It's not super clean nor modern, it's very no frills, unassuming both inside and out with decor such as photos of the King of Thailand on the walls. For food, we ordered the combo seafood kha-prow, which had calamari, shrimp, and Thai basil, as well as the kai-yang, Thai style BBQ chicken. The kha-prow had a nice subtle kick to it and the BBQ chicken was delicious! Super juicy, a great char to it, with some nice sauces served with it. We had this with jasmine rice. For dessert, we got the mango sticky rice and the coconut ice cream, both excellent. There was a slight hiccup on our bill, it had things crossed out/written over (small business style) and they made a mistake, but no worries, we pointed it out and they fixed it. So, so sad. We really wanted to like this local place. My wife and I both had red curry. Mine was chicken; hers was tofu and vegetables. My chicken curry was kinda small (I would have overlooked this had the curry been good); pretty tasteless (I had to add salt to bring out some flavor); and had too much oil. While not swimming in oil, I did have to use many paper towels to absorb off the oil before eating. The tofu/vegetable curry had some curry taste but was quite liquidy, like a curry soup. Not much tofu or vegetables either. For me, the worst part was the oil. Not lying -- there was at least 1/8" of oil on top of the curry in theto go container. Had to use a small ladle to scoop out the oil. Look, I realize some oil is needed to stir fry but these were very excessive. Really a bummer since we love Thai, but our curries were just not good. We had a delicious lunch at Pacifica Thai cuisine with family today; there were eight in our party. The service was superb and friendly. This is a real family business. Appetizers included fish cakes and Chicken Satay (kebabs). I had the chicken Pad See Ew, and my husband had the Shrimp Pad Thai Noodles. I'm not sure what everyone else was having. We all shared Mango sticky rice for dessert. Though the fare was pricier than we had expected, it seems that eating out anywhere these days is expensive - even McDonald's! Note: Good about gluten stuff (for intolerants at least)... Offered wheat free soy sauce. Have a feeling this place stays alive based on generosity and sweet vibes. Food is hugely portioned... My pad Thai is easily two portions. And The sweet lady that served me (owner?) was fun and friendly to talk to and threw in an extra tapioca pudding. This is Maybe in the bottom 30% of pad Thai's I have ever had but it's not terrible. Salad Kaak leaves a lot to be desired with the iceberg lettuce and potato chips. Very warm welcoming feeling as soon as we entered the restaurant. Quick and friendly service. I didn't even have to ask for refills, dessert, or a box to take home. They were already on it. Mostly great! Only downsides was my main course was very oily, and the mango sticky rice was not very good. The mango itself was good but the rice and sauce was more just coconut cream poured over it rather than the sweet thinner sauce than I'm used to. But the corn cakes were fantastic and all of the savory things were very flavorful! Shrimp chips were slightly soggy but maybe that's just Pacifica's high humidity. I wouldn't drive to Pacifica for this meal but as we were staying two blocks away, it was perfect. read more

Yelpers didn't go wrong with Pacifica Thai Cuisine. What I appreciate most about this cozy local gem is the delicious honest food, staff and ambiance. It's just an honest to goodness great place that's been here for decades and I truly respect that, in an era where most restaurants get too fancy with chaotic music and weird fusion menus for the sake of being "cool." But not here. This husband and wife team deserve all the patronage, they are hardworking and genuinely friendly folks. Upon entering, the wife came out from back, greeted us right away and offered us to pick any table. We ordered some beer, Tom Yum Koong and Pad Thai. Fairly basic items but there was something special about each of them. The beer was ICE cold and also came with a frosty mug. I don't know why most restaurants/bars don't offer the frosty mug anymore but it's a detail that shows an extra level of thoughtfulness for their customers. Next, the Tom Yum Koong soup, which came out quickly. Note: a medium level heat is still fairly tolerable. The highlight of this soup was a surprising slight sweetness, we couldn't place where from but it was pleasant and overall delicious. Lastly, the well plated shrimp Pad Thai with generous sauce had excellent depth of flavor. We were so impressed with a tasty affordable dinner, which came out to less than $60. I also appreciated the little tamarind candy that came with the bill. Parking is easy as there's a small lot in front and street parking. There are so many small details to love at Pacifica Thai. I was finishing off a hike around Mori Point when I thought I'd pick up some takeout food before heading home. I really had no idea what to expect. I guess I was in the mood for Thai food and just didn't want to make an emotional investment in it. I walked over from the trailhead and entered an empty restaurant save one young bewildered-looking couple. I ordered a couple of dishes. The entree was the $9.95 A Pad Suki Yaki, definitely a kitchen sink pile of glass noodles mixed with prawns, squid, chicken, tofu, egg, bean sprouts, Napa cabbage, green onions, and ground peanuts (photo: https://yelp.to/ifTg2lGG4B). It was OK but kind of a mess. I was also disappointed by the absence of pan-fried noodles as described in the menu. While I didn't care for the too-sweet homemade sauce, the veggie take on fries actually worked. Despite my disappointments, I might come back for the barbecue or one of the curries, but to be honest, I'm not in a hurry. Pad Thai had many fresh veggies, the calamari crisp with two great sauces and the papaya salad fresh but could have used more heat. Haven't been to this restaurant for a long time because the last time we went we did not enjoy are meal. But thought we would try again since I had order Panang chicken for lunch previously and enjoyed it. But tonight there was SO MUCH fish sauce in it making it the predominate flavor and not enjoyable. This is the best Thai food in the bay area, IMO. Actually - it's my favorite Thai food on the west coast - and I eat a lot of Thai. It's well worth the drive from the lower Peninsula to Pacifica. It is not American food with Thai names. This is Thai food cooked by a woman who moved here from Thailand, with authentic Thai ingredients (yes, she actually sources her lime leaves far away, to get exactly what she wants) ... and boy is it good. The Tom ka gai is my favorite ANYwhere. The owner/cook makes everything from scratch - including her fish sauce. Once when I was having a dinner party, she gave me her recipe, some galanga - thai ginger, her homemade fish sauce, and lime leaves, so I could recreate her recipe with the correct (and difficult to find) ingredients. That's just how sweet she is. My favorites - salmon and rice (the sauce is potent but SO yummy in small amounts), Eggplant and chicken or shrimp with sweet basil, corn cakes, and ... everything else on the menu. But I always start with those. And ask for ginger tea - I don't think it's on the menu, but they always have it.... it's made from fresh ginger and tumeric with honey, and it's spicy and warming. The cook's husband used to often wait tables. His English is not great - when I first starting going, he would point to the things he thought I should order, and that's how I ordered. He never brought me anything I didn't love. I have not seen him the last several times I've been... I suspect he is in poor health, so "Mom" is now running everything alone. My husband always made it his job to make the waiter smile. He seldom succeeded, but had fun trying. We have missed him the last several times we have gone. Yes, he was dour. But yes, he was also a part of this journey that we loved. I fear the day when the owners decide they are too old and tired to keep up the difficult job of running a restaurant day in, day out. Until that day, whenever I crave wonderful Thai food - this is the place I will go, despite the drive. Take a coat, as it can be cold in Pacifica. Don't expect beautiful furniture and five star ambiance. . . It's homey, casual, and a little funky. Go for the authentic thai food! Stay for the huge portions and authentic flavors. And try to get to know the cook. Joy is a treat. read more

This is one of my personal favorites for a Thai place. The lady that took my order was super nice and friendly. Their tofu green curry was so good, and for the pricing it was just perfect. The kind lady gave me free desert, and it was a green coconut jelly desert, and it is to die for. The inside of the place was super calm, welcoming, and felt like home. The decoration was beautiful and the history of Thailand was shown through this restaurant. Food came quick, hot, and tasty.
