Falooda
Emily W.

Small shop with nice workers! We came to celebrate a birthday and they put together a few tables for 10 of us. I really enjoyed the garlic noodles and nan gyi thoke. The tofu and tea leaf salads both had a spicy kick. The Rhankine noodle soup was hearty! The falooda had tons of jelly, ice cream, and rose flavor. They also helped bring out new plates and light the candle for the birthday cake. Bathrooms were very clean! It gets very chilly since the back door was open and it's Daly City, so be sure to bring a jacket!

The most authentic Burmese food in the bay!!! This place has everything I've been looking for my entire immigrant life in the US. Tohu thote tastes like the food cart at bogyoke market in Yangon. Rice salad tastes like the one I had in high school canteen. Everything tastes amazing and brought me back home :) I've gone there way too many times, and i forgot to take good pics every time because I inhaled the food asap. Service is great but rush hour can be hectic as usual and you'd have to wait a bit to order. It's a family run business and the restaurant feels cozy and welcoming.

Yay a positive Burmese cuisine experience in Daly City! Let's talk about it! Shwe Yankin is a new Burmese restaurant in daly city located at St. Francis Square. Their food is amazing! Order the Sweet Mango Salad, it's mango salad w/ an asian twist. Fav dish here. For the main course, we decided to go with their famous Burmese chicken potato curry w/ coconut rice. It sound basic, but the spices of the curry and tenderness of the chicken say otherwise. You can have this w.o rice because it has potatoes, but the coconut rice is an excellent choice as a side to pair with it. The fried chick pea tofu is also a must try. It's not tofu, it's chick pea...and the consistency of the appetizer is on point. Not oily, not bland. Perfect All in all, this place is a great alternative to the regular asian food selections here in daly city. We enjoyed their foods, come check them out.

My family is from Burma / Myanmar, and after eating their food, it definitely felt like home to me. Their dishes aren't overly dressed with many ingredients / seasoning like some restaurants trying so hard on flavors. They are pure & authentic as if mom was cooking for you. Plus, the prices are way better than any place I've seen. Portions might not seem a lot, but honestly I appreciate it bc i dont want too much of one thing & it lets us enjoy many dishes. The place also feels small staff like it's run by a family, so be sure to be patient with the service when dining in!

We just got food to go today. Wonderful family ran business. Authentic flavors. Great prices and portions. Nice addition to this strip mall that is otherwise dead.

I have just returned home from; I can't even call it a meal! I am shocked that the owners pass this off for the prices they charge. This, without a doubt, is hands-down the absolute worst meal I have had in decades, yes, decades! I'm not even angry; I'm too shocked to be angry. Just looking at the presentation, I knew it would not be too good. The website photos are stages because they don't serve their dishes like that(look at my photos) 1. The curry beef didn't even taste like curry because there was no curry it was drowning in old grease with enough chili spice to make even Texas Chili embarrassed. 2. The Braised Pork is overcooked to be on par with sheetrock and bathing in the Dead Sea of fat, with no flavor whatsoever. 3. The Mango salad...forget about it! This will date me; it truly tasted like they sprinkled the top with Dust-of-Chalk, again, no flavor. This is an abysmal place to think you will be having a meal. The pot of hot waterfront tea had a very strong taste of soap. To add insult to injury, they literally force you to tip, giving you 3 choices 15%, 20%; 25% For this, I was robbed of $45+ Be good to your taste buds and your wallet; stay away from this place.

Service was good! Staff was really nice since it was our first time trying Burmese food. Every item we tried was so tasteful and we are definitely coming back! No problem with parking either. Thank you!!!!

Food was good but service was slow. Were seated right away since its not crowded. Took sometime for the menu to come and took longer for them to take our orders. We even had to call them to tell them we're ready to order. Gave us ONE plate and utensils for 4. Are we expected to share in one plate here!?!?? Just confused. Obviously, I had to ask for more plates. Place was clean. Some dishes we had was spicy so be cautious. Its good spicy though. Just wish they do better next time with service.

Came to this restaurant after a long day at school. I ordered Nan Gyi Thoke (Chicken) and it arrived to the table very quickly. The service was great and the restaurant gives off great vibes, reminding me of Myanmar.

Real authentic burmese food. Feels like you're eating in Myanmar. Very delicious and affordable price. The service is really great too. Definitely should be given a try.

Shan Noodles

Service is good. Portions vs. prices were better than average for the Bay Area. Orders were pretty quick though I went when few other customers were there. Servers spoke English (and apparently Burmese) and answered questions about ingredients. The Shan Noodles stood out among several dishes as the most memorable. In the parking lot at night every time I go to this restaurant some young gentlemen of shall we say a quasi-menacing stature gather and pretend to drink water while listening to music from the best car's speakers in their "club." I mention this because I don't think you should feel threatened if you see them. They might enjoy feeling like they are menacing but so far I haven't seen them bother anyone in the parking lot. But too bad for that little strip mall because menacing boom speaker tribes in the parking lot won't attract the larger number of customers that the new owners of Shwe Yankin may want. Don't just sit there -- give it a try!

Burmese dessert So delicious 100% will come back for this

They are very friendly. When they bring the food come with a smile and always hungry to help you. Very nice to see Burmese culture again. Every food has different plate shapes and different styles and different designs Always looking so good and beautiful Finally, the food is so good and so yummy By the way a lot of parking space too I will come back again Recommend it Go there and check it out

You can there that there's no shortcuts with the dishes, nothing is watered down, everything is just real. The coconut chicken soup is something out of this world. It's not spicy at all. I can't describe it but it was really delicious, as with all the other dishes. The service was amazing and they even amended some of our dishes so that we could feed it to our kid (non-spicy). While there are a few highlights, several dishes don't quite justify the premium pricing. The Burmese beef and lamb curries are really good--the meat is consistently tender and the flavors are deep and well-developed. We also really enjoyed the rainbow salad and the paratha with curry sauce, though both felt overpriced for what they are. Other menu items have been disappointing: * Catfish Chowder: This was fairly average and bore a strange resemblance to pea soup. * Walnut Broccoli Chicken: Another mediocre dish that failed to leave an impression.

This time it was a $90 set with 2 drinks, 2 servings of rice of your choice, a trio of their salads, and 2 entrees - honestly a great deal and I think the waitstaff mentioned it's about a $150 value, which I completely believe. Our party of 4 arrived around 8:15, and waited about 15 minutes to get seated - definitely try to join the ahead of time because they saved us! It's cozy, clean and well decorated inside, and though the tables are a little close you have plenty of space and it's not too loud for conversations. We got two sets of the $90 menu - which was probably a mistake since we were stuffed and had plenty of leftovers. Drinks: we got 4 different drinks - the mango Lassi, spiced sunset, nanda breeze and burma cooler. All of these were excellent, refreshing and great for balancing the strong flavors of the entrees! Rice: we always get the coconut rice, so this time we opted for 2 scoops of coconut rice and 2 scoops of the burmese fried rice - the fried rice was tasty but not as fragrant as the coconut rice so we'll probably stick to that in the future Salad trio: this included the iconic tea leaf salad, along with the pea shoot salad, and superstar noodle salad. The pea shoot salad was a surprising favorite, and I'd even consider getting that over the tea leaf salad in the future! The noodle salad was pretty filling but tasty - maybe good if you're not planning to get a bunch of entrees On to the entrees: these are all super flavorful, umami, and can get a little heavy if you don't balance it out with the rice and salads. We got the pazun kyaw (chili prawns), nga phel hin (a sort of fish patty in tomato curry sauce with fresh cucumber slices), chili lamb, and basil chili pork belly. The chili lamb was a standout - super tender, flavorful and our overall favorite. The basil chili pork belly is a close second, but a bit oilier and heavier. The nga phel hin was tasty but a little too heavy /salty - slightly helped by the cucumber but there were only 4 slices with the dish. The chili prawns had great flavor but unfortunately were a little overcooked. Overall, this was an excellent meal! Burma Superstar never fails to be a great place for a large, flavorful family style dinner. I'm glad we got to try multiple new things from the menu through the restaurant week offer, and I'll be able to switch up my typical order in the future based on what we tried this time!

The service was quick and friendly, and ambiance was homey! We got the garlic noodles (which I think might be more of an Asian fusion thing that is popular in the Bay Area), which I enjoyed. There seemed like there was minced crispy fried garlic on top of the noodles. We also had the pumpkin curry, which I have had before in homemade Southeast Asian food, but my friend hadn't seen that before on menus. I love savory pumpkin dishes and I'm glad they had it on the menu. The portion size of the White Fungus Salad and Coconut Chicken soup big enough for all 4 of us to share. The friend tofu was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Tommy was very hospitable! He even gave us complimentary ice cream because our friends took us here. Found out that he may be relocating his restaurant soon (by Dec 2025) as the Mercedez Benz dealership beside them would like to expand which means that MB would take over the building space his restaurant is currently occupying. Very clean restaurant, make sure to stop by soon whenever in the Westborough area!

The service here is exponentially better, the staff is super friendly, incredibly attentive, and they make everyone feel very welcomed. The food on the other hand just is not great. Yes this place is always packed apparently, and it may be out of convenience. I found that everything that we ordered with the exception of the coconut rice fell flat. This is one of those moments that hurt your heart because I want to give them huge accolades, but it's just not there. We ordered the platha. It was tasty, but it also did not taste super fresh. The dipping sauce that it comes with (opted for chicken) and kept digging around the small bowl to find pieces of chicken that were nonexistent. The up charge of a dollar for the chicken dipping sauce that did not have chicken in it super disappointing. The sauce was tasty, but definitely not worth the up charge. Our server encouraged us to get the tea salad, which is definitely something. Someone should try if you've never had it before. The mixture of fresh veggies, the light sauce and the herbs, make for a very fresh bite. I would've been thrilled if late shredded chicken could be added to this for a different style dish. It would be super tasty. The salad was good, but not my style, but everyone else enjoyed it. We ordered the beef curry and the coconut rice. I absolutely want to emphasize how incredible the staff is. Their service and attentiveness absolutely should be acknowledged over and over again. The coconut rice at this location is exponentially better than at the other restaurant that we tried. This was a combination of light, fluffy, and absolutely flavorful delicious rice. The beef curry was incredibly disappointing. The beef was well done not done well. It was tough, overly chewy, and the flavor profile was just not good. It was missing something and even the light curry broth that the meat was sitting in well, good wasn't fantastic. The drinks seem pricier here, and the mango lassie, while good, was just OK. It tasted more like watered down mango. For dessert, we tried the black rice. This is definitely worth trying. It's a heavier dessert and probably a bit much after what felt like an uncomfortable dinner. The coconut sauce that it's sitting in is delicious and I can see why so many people enjoy it, and maybe if the strawberries were tastier the combination of all of the flavors may have made a difference. I definitely think it's something worth trying, but maybe elsewhere, or with different items for dinner.

My favorite dish was the famous Tea Leaf Salad, a mixture of shredded cabbage, tomatoes, green chilies, dried shrimp, peanuts, yellow beans, and sesame seeds, all tossed in a fermented tea leaf dressing. The salad was crunchy, nutty, spicy, umami, and refreshing all at the same time, and there was a generous amount of the deliciously salty and tangy tea leaf dressing (much more than in versions of this salad from other restaurants)! Next, the Fish Noodle Soup was a spiced chowder with rice noodles, catfish, egg, cilantro, and fried yellow bean--a hearty, warming dish. The Lamb Curry with Potato was made of tender chunks of lamb in an oily spiced curry, served with a flaky pan-fried Parata; and the Chicken Drumstick Curry came with two braised drumsticks in a flavorful spice mixture, served with spiced yellow rice mixed with raisins and green peas, topped with crispy onions, pickled onions, and fried chilies! Of the two curries, I preferred the flavor of the Chicken Curry, but the tender meat of the Lamb Curry. The Parata was crispy and buttery, and the yellow rice with toppings had an incredible flavor and combination of textures.
