So I finally got around to trying Raymond's Chinese food. Clean and easy parking. I tried several items on the menu. The fried squid appetizer. The sant and pepper pork . And the black bean fish. The squid was chewy and greasy. Same for the salt and pepper pork, somewhat lacking in flavor but very tender. The black bean fish lacked that black bean taste. But was the best of all the three items. They have weekly specials listed on the wall of the restaurant. Bathroom was clean. read more

Came here a few times to eat dinner with my family, everything we ordered was so good and super flavorful! Service was fast and really friendly staff. Plenty of parking in the lot and on the street. My family has also ordered a few party trays for different events. Some of our favorite dishes are the chicken corn soup, salt&pepper fish, Szechuan beef, general's chicken, spicy string beans, honey walnut shrimp, and pan fried noodles. First, parking: They are in a very small strip mall that has a parking lot, but if that is full, there is also street parking. Our group went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. They have 1 round table that you can reserve; other than that, there are a bunch of smaller tables. They seem to have a steady to-go business as well. It's family-owned. We ordered 9 dishes and all were pretty good. My favorite was the salt and pepper filet. Service was efficient; our server is probably the owner, and she took time to check in on us. Went for lunch and was not disappointed. Ordered the lunch special, selecting General's Chicken w/ fried rice. The portions were generous and everything tasty and fresh. The soup came first, hot and sour. Great texture and level of spice. Good vinegar portioning too. The sauce was delectable. Even got 2 bonus pieces of broccoli on the side which were fresh and al dente (not mushy at all). Included was the "hot appetizer" which was a yummy fried wonton stuffed with cream cheese and a little crab. I love the ambiance inside too - lots of light and I got lucky to have a sunny day. The staff are always friendly and usually parking out front is not an issue. As a last-minute find we found this cool Chinese restaurant. I really like the architecture of the building. The inside is very nice as well. The food was pretty good we had the sizzling beef platter, fried tofu, and white rice. This beef platter had really good flavor with a good amount of pepper. And the fried tofu is really nice too. This small Mom n Pop was just the place we were looking for. It's clean, cozy and quick! After a day of crabbing on the pier down the street, we wanted a sit down meal instead of fast food. I searched on Yelp and came across Raymond's. The place was empty, it quickly started filling up shortly after. The owner peered from the counter and served us hot tea. Lunch was still being served and we ordered off that. The lunch special comes with steamed rice and if you want fried rice, brown rice, or chow mein, it's $1 extra. Hubs got chow mein with his sweet sour chicken and I ordered fried rice with my Kung Pao shrimp. The egg flower soup was different than any I've ever tasted. Sorry, I didn't take a Pic, but it was good. Our food came out shortly after and it was piping hot. You can taste the quality in the dishes. Everything tasted fresh and not premade and sitting under a heat lamp. Both of our dishes were great. My Kung Pao had great flavor and good amount of heat. The sweet sour chicken was perfectly fried and delicious. Hubs only complaint was there was only two pieces of pineapple and no bell peppers. Overall, Raymond's was a great find! This was my first time at Raymond's and the food was excellent. I ordered the Kung Pao Three Combo lunch special with fried rice and it did not disappoint. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. Whoever did the cooking did a great job. Hopefully they are a mainstay at this restaurant because often times the cook you get on a particular day or shift makes or breaks a meal. The owner Lisa was very nice and upon reviewing their party catering tray menu the prices look reasonable. Will definitely try. The interior of the restaurant is clean and gives you that old school Chinese restaurant vibe from years past and when the check didn't break the bank! Even though you pay a little more you're at least getting quality which gives you a better bang for your buck. I'll definitely be back! read more

(delicious), Cashew Chicken included zucchini and carrots and large slices of chicken and the beef slices in the Mongolian Beef was very tender but too many sliced onions. The only thing I did not enjoy was the Hot & Sour Soup (sorry)... I called in my order at 12 noon and specifically said I could not pick the food up until 1:30p... I picked up the food at 1:28p and food was ready to go.I could tell they timed the cooking to finish on time. The inside of the restaurant was very small and cute. Looked very clean. I've regularly ordered through Grubhub but, this time, I picked up the order myself. I was served by the owner who was friendly. I told her I usually order through Grubhub and when I mentioned the name of my street, without hesitation, she came back with my house number. That's impressive! Typically like to order from Raymond's because their salt and pepper fish is garnished with cilantro. I know not everyone is a fan, but the cilantro just gives the fish life. This review is mainly because I came here over the Fog Fest weekend because I was volunteered to work a booth and the booth was like right outside of the restaurant. I ordered Mongolian beef, chicken with scrambled eggs, and rice. My friends, who was also volunteering, and I had dined in the day before for a late lunch. I would say the to go containers had a lot more than what we received in store. The Mongolian beef I had ordered on 9/24 was more gritty compared to the one I ordered the day before. My regular go-to Chinese spot is closed on Sunday, so I ignored the high prices at Raymond's and ordered. The worst Chinese food I have ever had. Not only terrible food, but high prices. The pot stickers were passable, but had a strange aftertaste. The real problem was the sweet and sour shrimp. They should be ashamed to serve it. There was about 3/8-1/2 inch of breading on a piece of tiny shrimp. Not much larger than a salad shrimp. I wound up spitting out all the breading and just ate the shrimp. In addition, the sauce was almost non-existent. Nothing to even dip the tiny shrimp into. And....$16.95! Order elsewhere and save your money and taste buds. read more

Last night the power was out in the neighborhood and Raymond's was the only business that stayed open regardless. We dined by candlelight and had the most delicious steaming hot, black pepper spicy hot and sour soup, general's chicken and veggie chow mein. Everything was prepared with love, huge portions and the service was warm and friendly. Kudos to this family for staying open while everything else shut down. A small cafe with 3 parking spaces or park on the street. We ate dinner here this time. Chicken fried rice was average. Tofu with mushrooms was average. The filet with black bean sauce was average. Food was a solid average. The major positive was that there was no MSG. Service was quick as there was no one in the restaurant. Not really any ambiance, as this seemed to be a local diner. Service was equally bad. Never came by and I had to look for her to get the bill. When she did come over she asked if we needed boxes . . . Not a place I like anymore....I came into their restaurant earlier tonight, yet the person attempting to take my order was literally arguing with me that they don't have hunan beef but it's clearly on their menu??? It makes no sense to me. I've been here in the past and always had a mask on, but for some reason, she acted as if I was contagious???? She actually stood at a distance when she tried to take my order. I never even received the tea I asked for when asked for a beverage. It was beyond frustrating, plus I was already depleted of energy from my workday, causing me to be light-headed as well as very famished.
