Everything here is amazing! The food, the service and the price is affordable and so good!

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever tasted and I'm glad it's walking distance from my home. The Panang curry is delicious and so is the lemon chicken. Everything is fresh and perfectly seasoned/ cooked. Service is fast and they are accommodating to any food modifications. Service is always friendly. From the cute vintage interior you would never know you were in a strip mall. I love coming back here even though I moved 50 miles away. read more

Service - excellent. For that I'd give it 5 stars. But Wow! This place is VERY expensive. For the amount of food you get for the price, definitely not worth it. Maybe a lunch special. Typical Thai joint. Decor and menu are about what one would expect. Service is kind and the flavors are decent. The location is kind of rough which is unfortunate. I have had better Thai and certainly a better atmosphere but I am rating them in context. I think they are worth the money and you should get the food as take-out. There are fewer Thai places to choose from in this area than there used to be, this one is just a bit more solid than the competition in my opinion. read more

Pretty good for Inland Empire Thai food. I enjoy their pad thai, pad see ew and Thai fried rice. Pretty standard dishes that are hard to mess up and thankfully they don't. Avoid the spicy catfish at all costs unless you are a fan of bones in every bite. They have a decent lunch special menu, but be warned, the only reason the prices are cheaper are because the portions are smaller. Kinda weird that they serve a scoop of rice even when you get a noodle dish. Egg rolls are actually okay for having no meat in them. read more

Heartbreak. But mostly for me. The family, satisfied. This matriarch can only say, "Humph. No standards." We don't come here that often, although it is close by. But I always used to love this place, but the most recent visits have been progressively disappointing. And today.... Fried tofu appetizer - good. Came with a super sweet sauce topped with chopped peanuts. Since I am trying to wean myself off sugar, no bueno. The tofu was still good by itself. Fried wonton - Envision large wonton squares with miniscule dots of mystery meat filling. Shame shame. Pure crispy fried carbs. And then, it came with that super sweet sauce again. Thai beef salad - my dish. Had to send it back. The dressing was pure fish sauce with a tiny bit of other flavors, impossible to eat. The second time, nearly as bad. Thank god I know what the sauce consists of. Lemon juice and salt improved it, somewhat. The beef, overcooked. Glass noodle with tofu - Mr. B's choice. The let down for me was the canned mushrooms and canned baby corn. The noodles, tofu, egg, and veggies were good. Pad see ew with chicken - Thick noodles, so the daughter ordered extra sauce up front. Never happened. And the chicken, again, overcooked. Taste - missing something. Maybe sauce? Pineapple curry with chicken - Pronounced by son-in-law as excellent. I'll never know, he vacuumed it down. Next time, there won't be a next time. I'll probably push for our current favorite places, Seven Seas or Angel Thai. read more

I'm not surprised that Thai Star hasn't been reviewed yet because they are one of those unexpected gems that no one knows about. Jon and I were fortunate enough to live nearby when we discovered it. They are a quaint family-owned and operated business behind Arco and across Food4Less on McKinley, which is a dicey part of town. But aren't most great hole-in-the-walls found in the ghetto? =) OK, now let me get to the point. They make the best Thai food. EVER. PERIOD. I've been to Banana Bay in Rowland, Best Thai Cuisine in Riverside, and many others scattered across the IE and LA, but Thai Star is by far the best!!! They are the real deal. Since moving to HB, I'm still struggling to find a place in the South Bay that compares. Tara Thai is CLOSE. Unlike a lot of Thai places, you can't go wrong with their menu. I've tried the Magic Salmon, Thai BBQ spare ribs, Chicken ruby (deep fried Cornish hen stuffed with that ground pork and glass noodle filling found in dumplings), curries, fried rice, honey lemon chicken, and noodle dishes. Everything is tasty and VERY reasonably priced, but I always find myself gravitating toward the Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mow with beef. And I ALWAYS get them EXTRA SPICY. Also unlike a lot of those other Thai places, they will make your food HOT if you want it. And I mean GIVE-YOU-MADASS-SHITS-THE-NEXT-MORNING-HOT!!! Unfortunately, your ass will feel the same heat your mouth felt when you took a bite of their food, but it is worth it if you have an affinity for spicy food like I do. If you're a MILD type of person, they can make it to your liking as well. They also have kick-ass Thai iced tea to wash it all down with! I can't say enough great things about this place. I know the location isn't prime, but if you're in the area, it's a great place to eat. The employees are incredibly sweet and willing to go out of their way to accommodate their customers. I've been there so much they know what I want before I even order! The only con about this place is they close at 8:30 PM, even though their menu says 9:30 because they don't get a lot of business. Although, I've been by recently and business appears to have picked up. Good for them! Jon and I tried to be faithful customers and made it a point to eat there at least once a week when we stumbled across this gem. It was really sad when we told them we were moving! I almost cried!!! Thai food lunch specials for under $10 will get you an entree along with a side of soup, one egg roll, salad, and steamed/fried rice. The amount of food you get is decent for the price you are paying. It's more than enough for one person if you're like me and don't eat much during lunchtime. We ordered the BBQ Chicken and Tofu Pad Thai without bean sprouts. Both came with fried rice on the side. The bowl of soup that came out after ordering was cold at the surface, but burning hot at the middle down so I'm guessing they microwaved it before bringing it out. The soup was like an egg flower soup with bits of meat inside. The first time they brought my Tofu Pad Thai there were bean sprouts, so the waitress brought it back into the kitchen and they remade another one for me. The second one came out steaming hot and smelled really good. The Tofu was soft and the noodles were nice and saucy. However, there were some noodles that were a little hard and an eyelash on the plate, but things like this can sometimes happen when you're eating out. The BBQ Chicken was pretty good. It looked dry on the outside, but was actually moist and flavorful with the sweet and sour sauce they give with the egg roll. I also ordered a Thai iced tea and asked for them to make it less sweet. The amount you get for $2.50 isn't bad compared to what you pay at tea shops, but is not as good. The Thai tea was good at first and not too sweet, but tasted like sugar water near the end. So I'd suggest finishing it before the meal ends or tell them to only add milk and no syrup maybe? Service was pretty good as well. They usually only have one waitress during lunch hours, but she checked up a few times to make sure everything was okay. The inside is pretty dated though and the seats in the booths have duct tape on some of them. Aside from the wear and tear, this place is pretty reasonably priced with good service overall. read more

I was extremely disappointed, I came in a Few minutes after this place opened, & waited 25min for my food. I asked for medium spicy larb salad & it was so spicy. I couldn't eat it. I asked to have it to go & eat the plate I ordered. Server came back to have all my food in a bag to go. I waited over 35 min for everything just to Not eat. Maybe it was a miscommunication but the food here is expensive & the serving amount is small. read more

Been ordering takeout a few times now and hands down I would say there chicken yellow curry and papaya salad is delicious! There papaya salad has only one size even if your call during lunch but I wish they did have it on there lunch menu. I have not order anything except those two items but sure is worth the flavor! Reason they are only getting a 3 is because I would def. agree with another reviewer that he portion size is very small regardless if it's on the lunch menu for the price you pay. I would def come back to see how the portion size in in person for sure down but till then take out is my only option. Food is great but potion size and price is not worth it read more

WARNING RIP OFF!!! Came in because I had a craving for Tom Kha Kai. And wanted to try this place out. Spent $53.61 and tipped $5 because it was food to go. I ordered Tom Kha Kai for 2 with Chicken & Shrimp; medium spicy. 2 Chicken Noodle soup, Mongolian Beef and Chicken Teriyaki. Waited for what seem like 15 to 20minutes. Got my food piping hot and head home to my family for a late dinner. Got home opened the Mongolian Beef and Teriyaki Chicken. Was utterly disappointed at the portions. First thing out of my mouth was I paid $8 dollars each for this?!?!? Portions literally less than half the size of what you get at fast food restaurants. The portions would barely fill a Panda Express small size. I mean this is how much you would get on a 2 or 3 item combo at a mom and pop fast food Chinese restaurant. I felt ripped off !!! Now as for the Tom Kha Kai; it was actually pretty good but again portions was small. The chicken Noodle soup.... luckily I ordered 2. This at least helped filled the meal for my family of 6. Chicken Noodle soup was good and my babygirl loved the noodles... To close this off ... Service was good but Portions are stupid small for what they charge you a la carte pricing. I am not sure what happened to my earlier review and other reviews but I decided to put in another review again after eating here today. The food still tasted as good as before and I especially like the option of replacing meat with tofu and the choice of spicy level in any dish. Most dishes are cooked from scratch and as we order them so we can be sure that the food is freshly prepared. The place is clean and cool and there was nice soft music in the background. Food is served fast and prices are reasonable - a great place to fall back on whenever we can't decide what or where to eat. read more

I don't review often but I've been eating here for a lonnnngggg time and the food has been consistently excellent. My fave is pad see ew and their Thai tea is excellent. I love the egg rolls that come with the lunch special and the egg drop soup is ADDICTIVE...it must have crack in it because I love it! The staff is attentive and friendly and I love that they have white pepper in a shaker on the table...best for Thai food! Wow! This place is definitely a hidden gem! I found this restaurant luckily after getting a massage right next door. I'm always skeptical of Thai restaurant chicken meat because majority around the area taste like rubber, fake, and not chicken with NO seasoning. This place is NOT like that! The chicken in the dishes I ordered were all seasoned and actually TASTE like real meat. They have vegetarian fried eggrolls which were delicious! The soup was also amazing! So far I have been here twice and have had no issues with the quality, taste, and presentation. The bonus is the lady in front who is very NICE, FRIENDLY, APPROACHABLE, and provides excellent customer service. Will be coming back! Ordered the papaya salad and it came up to $13. Was pretty disappointed tasted very strong raw garlic flavor and 1 piece of shrimp and a shrimp tail. Would not recommend. I prefer the little dried shrimps anyways. read more
