Tried this place for the first time....NOT GOOD. I ordered the crab rangoon, chicken satay, and pad thai. Crab rangoon was alright....nothing fantastic about it. Chicken satay was terrible. It seemed under cooked. The only part about the chicken satay was the cucumber salad that came with it. The pad thai was by far the worst I have ever had. We can't stop eating here. The staff is unbelievably friendly. As a vegetarian with a gluten allergy, I have options here! I've tried both the Panang and Evil Jungle curry with noodles, and found little difference besides the "Evil" being more spicy and having more vegetables. The garlic vegetable dish is delicious and simple. The edamame is a nice start to the meal as well as Jasmine tea. My meat-eater counterparts have enjoyed the Pad Thai (I enjoy it, though I avoid eggs) as well as the orange chicken and Mongolian beef entrees. It's nice to enjoy a pleasant , more unique meal in a cozy setting with personal service within our own town. I'm seeing people complain about service, and I think I have an appreciation of feeling like I'm eating in these people's home when we eat here. If you need something, ask (politely and patiently). I enjoy the Pad Kee Maow (sp?) and the curry puffs! The spicy seafood noodle is amazing as well. This place has high quality and fresh food, and the dishes taste wonderful! The Lady who always checks us out or answers the phone knows us by name! She remembered that my sister does not put egg in her food and when my sister forgot to specify, she asked about it for her! Now THAT is outstanding customer service! I had a conversation with the lady about the curry they use and she brought out a container and showed me the brand so that I could buy it! I didn't think it was possible to make Thai food so bland and boring, but this place has mastered it. We gave it two tries thinking the first was just a fluke, but nope, completely tasteless food both times. We tried many different appetizers and main dishes, all tasted the same...pretty much flavorless. Typically Thai food is complex in its flavor profile, savory, spicy, sour, sweet....which is what makes it so delicious. This place is either pitifully Americanized, or just not good. Have ordered delivery from them about 5 times over the past 18 months. Not impressed with the food compared to the price. Decent taste, but I live very close to the restaurant and they give me a hard time about delivery. Twice I have had missing items from the delivery order and it was more expensive compared to other Thai restaurants in the area with comparable quality food. In a pinch, it will do, but I generally order my Thai food from another restaurant. read more

I love Thai. Naturally, a lot of my reviews are of thai restaurants. Well, I've been to this one three times now and every time the experience has been fresh, flavorful, clean, and pleasant. It's one of those little hole-in-the-wall places, but clean. I was just here 2 days ago with a date. I had my usual of egg rolls and pad woon sen with beef and shrimp (spicy). My date had the teriyaki chicken (She suggested we go back here when discussing where to go when we went out again.). I've also had the fried rice dishes and other appetizers such as the shu mai, pot stickers, and Crab Rangoon. Everything is at a premium here. Worth a trip from Chicago! read more

If you are in the area, this is a yummy Thai spot to check out. It can be easily missed though when driving. One time I came with a girlfriend who has Celiac, but our waitress was able to help us find a Gluten Free option for her she ended up loving! This was the worst Thai food I've ever had. It's too bad, because there are so many good Thai restaurants in the Chicago area. The food tasted like it was made hours before we ordered it. Very solid Thai restaurant. I love the evil jungle curry and the Penang curry. But basically all of their curries are solid. Mango w sticky rice is worth it if you want dessert. Great authentic Thai food with real NATURAL ingredients. Many gluten free ingredient alternatives for Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and a few other dishes, just ask they are more than happy to accommodate a GF diet. The employees are always gracious and welcoming. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Order spicy if you like a little kick to your dishes. Very nice location. . Nicely decorated and friendly hostess. I will definately come back to this place but I have some comments about the PR/Service. The first thing I want to say is "thank you" for pointing out that we ordered too much food. My bother and I are big but you helped us save money by saying two soups was too much and could be shared. With all the other food we ordered, that was kind of you.Now, my comments, please don't wait until you have a line of people waiting for their table to open the upstairs area. Its not fair to those few people that are waiting for a table. I know there is a lot of talk and special instructions about eating the dumplings being juicy but I don't understand why when the dumplings are so small and they are no bigger then a mouthful. BTW, to the female server who dropped the check off list, I was being a gentlemen by picking up the list so you wouldn't have to bend down with your tray. Tried take out from here last night after our other dinner plans fell through. Overall pleasantly surprised. The egg rolls were really nice - light and crispy. The potstickers were also very good. Fried rice was fine. I tried the Pad See Ew - which in their defense I have never had before - but was very underwhelmed. It was not very flavorful, very light on the veggies and the noodles were clumped together. Not really what I expected. We ordered the Chicken Terryiaki (which I realize is a Japanese dish but we needed something without peanuts and not spicy) for the kids and they liked it ok but I thought the chicken was a little dried out and the sauce was a little too sweet. We visited Thai Square last week. Since many in the previous reviews raved about the Crab Rangoon we ordered it. This appetizer was OK. Dinner: my dish was the Golf of Thai; simply delicious, great variety of seafood and so, many different flavors in one dish! I would definitely recommend it for seafood lovers. This dish deserves five stars. My friends got Teriyaki Chicken and Mongolian Beef both were good. read more

Ever since our favorite Thai restaurant, Thai Classic on Clark Street, closed sadly due to a fire in 2012, we have been searching for another Thai restaurant. We have been passing by this one on the way to work so finally, we decided to give it a try. We saw it got 4 out of 5 starts rating on Yelp so figured it was worth it. After eating there, we have no idea where those 4 out of 5 starts came from. We ordered the combination plate of appetizers, and everything was dried out. You could tell they had been frozen and they just were quickly defrosted and thrown in the deep fryer, they were not fresh at all. My dish was chicken lad nar, and the sauce was disgusting. It had a burnt flavor, tasted like they had used old, burnt oil to fry the lad nar noodles in. It was over powering of the whole dish. My husband got chicken yellow curry with a side of fried rice. The rice had no flavor at all, not even salt and the curry was watered down. Thai curry is supposed to be thick and creamy. It was like eating flavorless soup. When we told the waiter what we thought of the food, he just shrugged and was like oh really? He didn't even offer us alternate dishes. We wound up having to pay $40 for food we couldn't even finish. They did not even offer us a discount. It was so disappointing. We will never go to this restaurant again. This food is not authentic Thai food. My husband is a professional cook and we are experienced in food preparation and what authentic Thai food should taste like and this is NOT it. The food was not fresh, flavorless and on top of it, they used a microwave to heat it up because we could hear it beeping. You go to a restaurant for fresh, prepared to order dishes, not microwaved food with little to know effort placed in preparation. Consider yourself warned. A better alternative to this place is Panda Express! That food is at least fresh and full of flavor, not to mention cheaper! read more

My husband and I live just a 5 minute walk away from Thai Square and we've seen it many times but never got around to eating there. Yesterday we finally decided to give it a try and are so happy we did. We ordered egg rolls (I didn't like them because I'm not a fan of glass noodles but my husband LOVED them) and crab rangoons for appetizers. The crab rangoons were probably the best I've ever had. Seriously delicious. I got pad Thai and my husband ordered cashew chicken. Both were so so so good! My husband isn't usually 100% satisfied with most foods but he really loved the cashew chicken and said he wished he would have come here sooner. The pad Thai was very good. It's a pretty big portion size so I had leftovers and ate them the next day. Heated on the stove top it tastes just as good as when I ordered it. Only complaints are that the server was slow with paying attention to us and bringing the check. We eventually had to call out to her in the kitchen. And also if you sit by the window, where the vent is, it can get pretty chilly. So if you're the type of person who is always cold just sit away from the window. Oh and another awesome thing is the homemade caramels they give you when you're done. They have coconut in them and are so yummy. We will definitely be coming back and recommend this place to others! read more
