The vegan gyoza were the highlight -- delicious, fresh, with a great texture and an excellent dipping sauce. The vegan pad thai was just OK. I had to dig to find the vegetables, and there weren't many. Flavor-wise it was a bit mild, but using the gyoza sauce helped quite a bit. The portion was generous, but it was packed very tightly into the container, which made it a little difficult to eat (especially with a plastic fork). I was super excited to find a Thai vegan place near my work. Until I had a $30 Panang curry. The family was super nice that ran it but like come on- the pricing was insane. And many workers in the area need to eat that support these tourism businesses need to eat- really you're going to price gouge us that work our asses off for pennies off I Drive for mice or wizards? It's not terrible, but not as okay. It's a small business, so I can't expect a high class meal of some sort. As someone who travels with family, I've learned to neglect my hunch for places that might look off. But this time my hunches were right. Going back to the "hunches"; I felt skeptic the way the interior was, and how there were barely customers there. I've seen a few of them arrive only for takeout/online orders. I came here during the late afternoon, but I expected there to be at least a few tables occupied. But I soon realized why. The prices of the menu are nonsensical. $25 for a plate of chicken and rice? I could buy the same thing for about $12. And the thing is, I don't understand why it costs $10 for only three rolls of egg rolls. I'm pretty sure you can get at least twice the amount of rolls for that price. The unit price of each spring roll is around $3, and I'm talking $3 for each roll. With these prices, I don't think complaining about this would make someone a "cheapskate" at this point. Sure, they might need money. Yet, it won't attract customers the way they're selling their menu. I'm sure those prices are scaring customers off, because it definitely scared me. Still on the topic of money, the taste of the food in relation to the price of the food isn't worth the bite. I've noticed that the teriyaki and pad thai dish were drenched in sauce. I assume that the dish overall would have been bland without it. Even with the sauce, I'm not tasting much of the natural personality behind the food. It's just monotonous to the taste buds. I've tried plenty of Asian food in the past, and I can certainly say that Thai Silk's food does not taste like the Asian food I used to eat. There are some pros about the place, in case you're wondering. They have two different menus; one for vegans, and one for non-vegans. Good thing that they have a variety of things on the vegan menu as I am also vegan along the lines. I haven't seen many Asian restaurants be specialized in both categories. Usually the only vegan options would be vegetables and tofu, but they even have vegan chicken here. What a rarity. The lady who worked around the restaurant was polite. Service wasn't too slow, I'll give them that. Keep in mind that English is not any of the staff's first language, but they try their best to communicate despite the language barriers. I'm not stopping you from going here, but I wouldn't recommend Thai Silk if you're looking for an authentic experience. read more

The food here was good! My favorite thing off the menu is their spring rolls - they weren't too crunchy and they're freshly fried every time you order. This Thai restaurant is located in the most unappealing of places -- near Office Depot. Good thing we consulted the yelp reviews or we wouldn't have found this place. Inside the restaurant is very dim, so use your smartphones/cellphones to provide lighting.( Haha!) Kidding aside, we ordered a couple of dishes to share: papaya salad, chicken satay with peanut sauce, pad ka prow and tom yum soup. I was starting to develop a cold and the soup really helped me feel a bit better. It was plenty spicy which I enjoyed (i.e. runny nose and everything!) So I felt compelled to write this as we just left the restaurant. I have to unfortunately say that as yummy as the food was... it was entirely the worst service we've had... we arrived at 8:10, and finally are leaving after 10:00pm. And its 9:30, they said they were closed already, and she is too late... needless to say a debate ensued... My Aunt's order came out and they never told her they weren't able to do her spring rolls... just opted to tell her after we received all our food that they didn't have any more spring rolls. Loved this place!!! It was a great find! My friends and I were visiting friends in Orlando and stayed at a hotel on I-Drive. We looked up local restaurants and saw that Thai Silk was within walking distance so we gave it a shot!! The atmosphere is nice and peaceful, everything looked clean. We were a little worried at first because there was only one other family seated and it was a Saturday night but decided to stay anyway. We were sat pretty soon by a man who seemed to be the owner. We all got the Drunken Noodle and either Thai Iced Tea or Thai Iced Coffee. The service and food were incredible!! Everything came out hot and the portions were great! I had leftovers that lasted two more meals. The owner seemed to be the only one working but he was very gracious and kind. I didn't feel like I was waiting too long at any point and he checked on us often. When we met up with our other friends, we couldn't stop talking about how good Thai Silk was! My chicken Pad Thai's portion size was okay. Not great. The food tasted quite bland. No flavors stood out like other Thai restaurants. And my noodles behaved like they were slightly glued together and had too much moisture. Something was telling me this was microwaved and then sprinkled with water before sending it out of the kitchen. Is the chef even a Thai native? Probably not. We arrived and were seated and loved they asked if we were vegan. I am but not the party I arrived with. I ordered papaya salad and it was extremely soggy. My usual place back home makes papaya salad that is always served fresh and crispy made to order. This was extremely bad. My husband sent it back and they gave him a disapproving look plus told my husband that the next order cannot be sent back if disapproved, I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken tofu and it was palatable. I had requested some spicy fresh chile or chile oil on the side when I had ordered the papaya salad and the server had forgotten about it. I asked for it again after my noodles were served and the lady told me that they had served it in the papaya salad, I told her that it was not in the salad plus I had ordered it on the side. We also ordered the spring roll vegetables and they tasted old and sauce that came with it was very vinegary and not palatable, we ordered pad Thai and it was not tasty like traditional pad Thai. Overall our visit was extremely uncomfortable because of the owner's attitude towards us. If food is done well with fresh ingredients there is never bad things to say but in this instance a comment was forced to include and not for good service or food. Perfectly creamy, with the right amount of sweetness and herbal flavors. The drunken noodles too were fantastic. Great portions of each. I wouldn't recommend the shrimp summer rolls however: $8 for two tiny rolls! (Rip off in my opinion).
