My family and I love this place, especially my daughter loves their food. However, the last two dinners we had wasn't a pleasant experience. Their is one staff there (I believe his name is Hedrick, I asked one of the staff what's his name so I can specifically mention his name. You won't miss him he is the tallest, skinny Asian waiter) who was always rude to us the last two dinners we had at this place. I kinda brushed off his rudeness the first time, thinking maybe he had a bad day or just tired. But I noticed he is so friendly and nice with other customers especially the white customers but I don't wanna make a big deal about it. Tonight, my fam & I decided to have dinner at this place again, since we really like their food. Our server was a nice lady, and kinda welcomed us since she already knew us by face because we are frequent flyers there. Unfortunately, our nice lady waiter was busy covering lots of table, so this "Hedrick" guy was the one who brought our main food to the table, so my wife and I helped clear our table since we ordered already appetizers and soup, but he couldn't wait but shoved the three plates on our table and left. So, I said to my wife that's kinda rude and he did that to us last time. So when the nice lady waiter checked on us, I told her what happened and told her I don't want him to serve us. The nice lady waiter was very apologetic for what he did. I asked for the manager but one waiter said they don't have a manager but the owner is in the kitchen. I asked for the owner, but never come. Then, this "Hedrick" guy pass by our table after serving nicely to some white customers across us. So, I took the matter in my own hands since the owner didn't come to our table either. I stopped "Hedrick" when he passed by and told him " I don't want you to serve us." He said, " Ok, I'm sorry." and left. So he knew what he did and still was very rude. Told him, " No, you're not." Before he can walk too far, to make sure he heard me. BTW, I'm Asian. So, go figure it out. I'm not recommending this restaurant to any of my friend's & colleagues for sure!!! read more

The food is fantastic. Sushi rolls and sashimi are very fresh. The proportions are more than other local sushi restaurants and very fairly priced. The main courses are also very tasty and fairly priced. The restaurant is very cozy. The music was very tasteful and added to a welcoming experience. The staff is very attentive and pleasant. We just randomly ended up here for lunch one day. We drove by on the way to chic-fil-a and thought 'why not try this instead.' So we had zero expectations going in and you can imagine my surprise when I had the best sushi experience of my life. And I originally just wanted some Thai food. Sushi Chef Felix made us a free shrimp tempura appetizer and when that and the salmon nigiri we ordered blew my expectations out of the water we just told Felix to make us what he wanted. So we had some fatty tuna that was on par with the best Otoro I've ever had, only it was presented better and cost less! Then Felix customized his next offering so it was spicier for me and less spicy for my wife. Then he gave us another free dessert. Sushi Chief Felix was charismatic and skillful. This place is normally great, but we ordered takeout last night and the sweet potato in my roll was nearly raw and inedible, and there was roe on my avocado roll. Makes no sense that vegetarian rolls are made in the same place as the seafood rolls, but most places are not conscious of cross contamination. Additionally, the veg in our spring rolls were pretty raw. My partner was happy with his food (Lard Na) Last night must have been busy because all my food was off and disappointing. read more

We ate at Thai Samurai this evening because we thought it'd be nice to try out a new Thai place on this side of town. My boyfriend got the Pad Thai with beef, and I got the Pineapple Curry Mild with chicken, which is my go-to at our current favorite Thai place, Thai Phooket II in Goodlettesville. We got an app of edamame, which was delicious. They were extremely busy, but we finally got our correct orders, and both of them had a horrible smell to them. My boyfriend's Pad Thai smelled, and tasted like dog food. Not that we eat dog food, but if we did, it would taste the same. My Pineapple Curry smelled like stinky, old cheese, and was so spicy I couldn't eat it. We were so disappointed and will not be back. read more

Our waiter Ake was fantastic! He really made me and my boyfriend's night there special! He was attentive and courteous and so helpful! We decided, while waiting on our food, that we would like to sit outside. Ake made sure we were at a clean table and that our food was be redirected to us. My wife and I sat at the sushi bar for lunch and had a variety of sushi, nigiri and sashimi. Sushi chef Felix was super charismatic and artful in his presentations. We've had sushi all over the country and this was the best experience we've ever had. We were really looking forward to this opening since we got a recommendation from our favorite sushi restaurant in town, Smiley Thai, and it's closer to home. The decor is beautiful but the bar was completely empty and they weren't able to serve beer or wine yet, which was disappointing since sushi and Kirin go great together. The presentation of the sushi was great. They had flowers and decorative veggies. The service was goofed up. We basically had a merry go round of servers and food delivery. The guy would appear and then a girl would appear. The wasabi and soy sauce must be in low supply in Mt. Juliet because they were rationing out when u get it and how much you get.....Soy sauce packets is how they start you and then you eventually graduate up to the dispenser with the bowls. The best part of the experience with my friends was making them laugh as we uncomfortably stare at one or two of them while they eat because no one else had their food... that's right it arrives at different times. It's kind of fun that way. I'll give it a shot in another month and maybe my friends and I can have a normal experience. We've been back several times since they opened and service and food is great. The food is pretty good, the service is ok when is ok, but when it's not it's the worst in town. Their sister restaurant is the one that's in Hermitage, and it's excellent. We went in there the other night there was one server serving the entire restaurant. He did a wonderful job all by himself. This place is has more servers than the other place has and is twice as small, and they're just awful at times. They're not attentive and they just seem stuck up honestly. But like I said the food is good but it's not as good as their sister restaurant that's in Hermitage. just my opinion. read more

We stopped in here randomly while driving through Nashville because I was craving Thai and this place popped up close to the interstate. The service was quick, and the food was outstanding overall. We started by sharing a ginger salad and Tom kha soup. The salad was very disappointing and had watery bland dressing as opposed to the typical ginger dressing at Asian restaurants. Don't order this. The Tom kha was okay, but I also would not order this again. That said, the entrees more than made up for the bland starters. I had the vegetable panang curry with medium spice and oh man it was fabulous, albeit quite spicy. I would go for mild spice next time. The flavor profile of this curry was out of this world. My husband got the cashew nut chicken, also with a medium spice, and it was fabulous as well, though he would also get mild spice next time. The portions were huge. This could have been a great experience. The pad Thai was delicious, and everyone was very friendly. That's where the good part of the experience ends. The atmosphere, service, and dumplings were terrible. No music, so all we got to listen to while trying to eat cold dumplings was the servers pounding the pos directly behind me, and everyone else's conversations. Each menu was covered with food and some form of sticky substance, which is pretty gross during normal life, let alone Covid. read more

The first thing I wanted to do when I walked into Thai Samurai was to go to the lavatory to wash my hands. I intended to order sushi and/or sashimi. I wanted my hands clean in case I handled my food items with my fingers. The staff person asked me if I wanted to wash my hands or if I needed to "use the bathroom". First it is offensive that the staff person even asked that question. I answered that I wanted to wash my hands and that staff person produced a pump squirt bottle of antibacterial hand cleaner and generously pumped an ample dose into my hands. Oooookay, I rubbed it into the skin on my hands (it took a while) which are now sterilized and taste like the sanitizer. I decided that I wanted a "Sashimi Deluxe" assortment. In my opinion fake crab (surimi) does not qualify as a sashimi item. In fact it is borderline insulting for the amount paid for sashimi crafted by someone who should have passed a training regimen which would make them feel shame to serve surimi as a sashimi item. It is like serving Vienna sausage chunks in a stir fry steak entrée. Then there's the background music... The kids were rocking out with synthesizer hip hop party music with synthesized vocal fun and jive merriment. All very cool if your money crowd is between 14 and 23, but not exactly relaxing to a customer who would like to dial it down a tad during meal time. Most of the Sashimi Deluxe assortment was acceptable, but made no real impression about the skill of the preparer. I'm sorry, but surimi and cooked shrimp do not impress me in a sashimi assortment. read more

I'm grateful to have found this restaurant after months of searching for decent Asian cuisine since moving to Mount Juliet from California. My husband and I sat at the sushi bar and ordered a combination of specialty rolls and nigiri, our favorite being I believe the Hawaiian Roll...(the one topped with mango salad). The sushi chef, Felix, was incredibly generous and made us feel right at home, starting us off with a free appetizer and finishing our meal with complimentary orange slices, that showcased his fantastic knife skills. From beginning to end we had a great time, with good food, and generous hospitality. Looking forward to going back for my birthday in a couple of weeks. read more
