Charming, old, well worn restaurant. And I say that in the best way!! It has a wonderful atmosphere. Everyone who works there is very nice and definitely don't make you feel like your just another customer being pushed through. The food was great! I just got one dish, the pad see ew, but I was very happy with the result. I was in the area and saw this and figured I would just stop in to grab something to go. Quick turn around. Ultimately, I highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!! read more

BEST THAI IN BALTIMORE. You'll definitely be missed and always remembered. PikPau fried rice and all your curries are unmatched. Thai Restaurant introduced me to Thai Cuisine and it's still the measuring stick no matter where I dine in the country. read more

Excellent low-key Thai restaurant located on Greenmount in the Abell neighborhood. It's family owned and they just a heads up that they do not offer delivery. The owner took our order when we cashed in and was there with a huge smile when we walked in to pick it up! He's a very pleasant guy and the interaction with him will only improve your meal! Next time, I plan on eating in. The restaurant is larger than it appears from the outside and has very lovely decor! The food was excellent. We got potato curry rolls for an appetizer which was perfectly seasoned and crunchy. Our mains were green curry, pad panang curry, and drunken noodles. All three were medium spicy and extremely flavorful. For dessert we had mango sticky rice. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the rice came with a huge serving of mango slices, way more than I am used to getting at other local Thai restaurants. 10/10 recommend! read more

Excellent food and great portions and flavorful !! The summer rolls were delicious ! The ambience is lovely.

Excellent and tasty whole fish. Great service, great food. Everything served impeccably well.

I tried this place randomly on a weekend lunch date. This place has been here for years. This place has been here longer than I've been alive and I think the same people have ran it. The food was very good. I also had a Thai tea which was delish. The papaya salad was spicy and fresh. read more

I've enjoyed this Thai restaurant for many many years. I've tried several dishes over the years and my food has always been fresh. The restaurant owner has always been present whenever I ate inside the restaurant and he has also served my table on multiple visits. He is very kind and wants the customers to be satisfied. His wife cooks most if not all of the food. Take out is also an option. The food can get spicy. I like spicy food and I still usually only order a level 1 if I am ordering a spicy dish. The area may seem a little sketchy but I've never had any issues when visiting the restaurant. There is paid street parking in front of the restaurant and across the street from the restaurant although I am not sure if it's time specific. There are also some houses around the corner and there are sometimes free spots there. It's always nice to support a local business. read more

The best thai food in the city is decidedly at this little hole in the wall place - the owner is beyond kind and welcoming, and anything you order will be fresh, authentic, and delicious. We've only dined in, but there's an option to take out as well. Their appetizers are excellent - I'm fond of the steamed dumplings, and the papaya salad is also excellent if you're looking for a bit of spice. I love noodle dishes, and their pad see ew cannot be beat - their noodles are delicious and carmelized and the veggies are fresh and crisp. My boyfriend had their drunken fried rice and one of their curries and loved both of them. Finally, the dessert is NOT to be skipped - the fried cheesecake is amazing (and I don't even like cheesecake that much), but the standout for me was the sticky rice with mango. Beautifully presented and the best mango I've ever had. With beautiful decor, parking, and the perfect amount of attention during your meal, Thai Restaurant is a must visit. read more

Let me just say, that this restaurant is a true staple of Baltimore. It's been around ever sense I was born and has managed to prepare delicious Thai cuisine the entire time. Our waiter, who might have been the owner, was incredibly kind and attentive. Great sense of humor too. There is also really convenient parking in the back. This is an absolute gem of a restaurant and deserves every ounce of support it gets from the community. read more

Thai restaurant is a great option for Thai food within walking distance of JHU in the Waverly neighborhood. There's a parking lot around the back that's easily accessible via a small street Brentwood ave. The owner has been serving great Thai food since the 90s, and his enthusiasm for his food is contagious. I love spicy food and always order my meal at arbitrary level "5" with extra thai chilies on the side. The curries, noodles and rice dishes are all excellent. You can't go wrong with the pickpaw fried rice with pork or red curry. For dessert, the fried cheesecake is delicious and balanced nicely with whipped cream and fruit. Unfortunately, the portion sizes are smaller than standard and slightly pricey. Furthermore, the owner's son seems disinterested working at the restaurant and service can be slightly awkward due to his abrasiveness. read more

Thai Restaurant - Fried Cheesecake - amazing - Thai Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Run, do not walk. First time ever to this spot and I'm glad I came. Me and my roommate were running errands before our upcoming vacation, and we were in the Waverly section of the city. So he suggested why not Thai, I'm always game for Thai food. I wanted to keep my eating light, so we opted for the following, the papaya salad, which was the best I've had in a long time. Some Thai restaurants either make the dressing either too spicy or too tart. The dressing was just right, right amount of heat, and not too tart. And the shrimp were really a nice size. Also the summer rolls were really delicious and fresh, you could really taste the basil in these, nice and clean on the palate. We kept the dishes pretty simple with pad Thai and drunken noodles, also delicious. The best so far in the city by my standards. The drunken noodles with pork was so delicious and savory, *insert Homer Simpson drool. I'm def returning again and I will bring my boyfriend, he really loves Thai food. So if your in the Waverly section of the city, stop in, the service is good and food is delicious. You will not be disappointed. read more

This restaurant has been open since the 1980s, and has the look and feel of a traditional Thai restaurant with over 30 years of service. It's a respectable business with excellent food. We stopped here for lunch and shared 3 dishes and 1 appetizer among the 4 of us and we had left overs. I love supporting local businesses and especially family owned businesses (not sure if this is family owned -- but it's certainly local). I rarely rate a place 5 stars, but I felt this place, it's history, location, food, and service is up there. I would keep going back to this place if I lived in the area but since I don't I'm letting you all know that it's worth the try. Give it a try! read more

More like a 3-1/2 star. Not the best Thai I've had but most was good and the portions were a nice size. The salad was actually pretty big. We were served by an older Asian gentleman who was perfectly attentive! We had the shrimp/chicken crispy spring rolls, the papaya salad, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, fried cheesecake, and the mango and sticky rice. (We were very hungry.) Food came out at a good pace and everything was attractively presented. Truly, the only weird thing was the fried cheesecake--kinda strange, not my thing. We ate in the main dining room which was cozy but needing a bit of an update, maybe paint over that unappetizing green wall paint? read more

Thai Restaurant - Gai Sawan - Thai Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

I'm so happy to live near this excellent Thai Restaurant! It's a small family-run establishment that has been local to the Waverly neighborhood for quite some time, so I was happy to support them for our weekend Thai fix. Delivery arrived a bit late so the restaurant must have been busy this night, but the food was truly well worth the wait. Also everything arrived piping hot, like seriously we had to wait for it to cool down a little --amazing! We ordered two drunken noodle entrees, one with chicken and the other with scallops. Both offered generous portions of chicken and scallop, which is always appreciated. I will add that the scallops were also cooked very well, not super rubbery or overdone at all. The basil sauce was deliciously sweet and savory and not too spicy. We also ordered the fried spring rolls and fried wontons (kiew krob). The wontons were interesting. I'm not sure what the filling was because the menu didn't say --I think it was meat but it almost tasted like chickpea! Regardless, it was all very tasty and perfectly crunchy thanks to the small holes that were cut into the tops of the paper boxes. This ensured that the fried goods wouldn't get soggy on their trip over to us. I can't express enough how much I love the consideration that went into this gesture, and it made a big difference in the quality of the meal! It is clear they love their craft here at Thai Restaurant and I'm happy to be a customer again in the near future. Highly recommend! read more

We loved the magnificent whole rockfish with the spicy Pla Rad Prik sauce! Their Pad Thai is the best around. The Pad Panaang curry with shrimp, squid and scallops and fresh green and red peppers in coconut milk with lime leaves and complex curry flavors was a show stopper. The papaya salad is a refreshing counterpoint to the other flavors of our meal. We got carry out because dining in is not an option during this 2020 crisis. We are looking forward to returning when restaurants are allowed to reopen for full service. Please continue to support this wonderful Thai Restaurant by ordering carry out until this crisis is over. read more

I don't like slamming local restaurants but I gotta be honest. The drunken noodles suck. I asked for "extra spicy" which got me three shakes of the crushed red pepper container. It just tasted like salty soy sauce. Came with half fresh broccoli....? That's not what drunken noodles are. Don't waste your time. Couldn't believe I paid $15 for this sad food read more

This place brings back a lot of memories. I've been coming here for 25 years and nothing has changed, and that is a good thing. The owner told me it opened in the early eighties. The food is always outstanding! My favorites are the chicken stir fry with the chili tomato sauce and the shrimp & fish cake appetizer. Everything is good here. The only negative is the sketchy neighborhood. There's parking out back or park on the street only if you can grab a spot directly in front of the restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for such high quality. read more

Came in early on a Friday to have dinner, great atmosphere and a big place. The owners seem super sweet and it feels like a family-owned spot. I had the Penang curry with shrimp. Although the curry broth was really delicious, the vegetables were completely soggy, not fresh at all, and the shrimp seemed barely cooked, and they certainly weren't soaking up the broth for that long. Rice a bit over cooked, as well. The freshness factor is not a thing at this spot unfortunately. Really expensive here, in my opinion overpriced! I wouldn't recommend the food for freshness. Nice people though! read more

At 39 weeks pregnant. I ordered spicy pad Thai, following the adage that spicy food can induce labor. To my delight, when I went it to pick it up for takeout, the owner told me that he hoped I was ready to have my baby, as his spicy pad thai has a perfect track record of helping babies to be born. To my further delight, I went into labor a couple hours later, just as he promised!! Women who are ready to have their babies should come here every time! This place isn't known to very many people, but it's a great thai restaurant. Food: - drunken noodles: really good. one of the best i've had. i got it spicy level 1, which was just right. when i got level 2 i ended up on the struggle bus. i wish the portion were a little larger - pad thai: good but not the best. i've had better - red curry: really good. authentic thai curry taste. the bowl looks like a small portion, but it will fill you up - panang curry: really good as well - calamari: surprisingly good! never had thai calamari before, but it's just a different kind of batter so it's a little more like tempura - thai tea: sweet and tasty price: average for thai food location: people say it's sketchy, but it's really not too bad. take a group with you if you wanna be extra cautious, they have lots of room. service: good service. nothing to comment for good or bad. THEY SPLIT CHECKS! i don't know why but this makes life always easier at a restaurant. I highly recommend this place, especially if you go to Hopkins because it's a walkable distance, great thai food, and decent price. read more

I paid a visit to the restaurant years ago and left with a very good impression. Then last night I went back for takeout. The restaurant was very kind about accommodating a gluten-free, vegetarian order among several other orders. They couldn't offer all order adjustments to accommodate this, but I was left with the impression that they cared about the request, and they tried. This is more than can be said about many takeout restaurants, and it met and somewhat exceeded my expectations. Beyond that, they were very good at taking down order details and prepared it very quickly. The food was solid - met our expectations. The portions for the price are larger at other places, but they were not small either. The pickup and ordering where both very good experiences of good customer service. I'd recommend Thai Restaurant and will return occasionally. read more

Since a couple of weeks I was having major thai food cravings. One of my friends suggested this place to me. On reaching here, I was skeptical about going in, the curb decor is not the best -- might even look shady, however, on going inside, I was in awe! It doesn't look as big from the outside, but trust me, it is pretty big and has a lot of seating! The decor is vintage and has a super warm vibe to it. Being a vegetarian, I ordered tofu drunken noodles and the tofu panang curry! Both of these were delicious. On top of this we also ordered fried cheesecake, which was to die for! All in all, it is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere, or probably a little shady area. But an amazing plus to have thai food/make someone like thai food! read more

The food is as good today as it was many years ago when they opened. Pad Thai and drunken noodles are authentic and delicious

I visited my nephew in Baltimore area and took him had lunch in this place since it's ratings looked good. Waiter was a senior Asian male who I assumed was the owner. Food was average. Service however was bad even though we were the only customers during that time. We were billed over 20% automatically as tip which I happened to notice. When. I asked the waiter about it, he was very angry and replied that's how it was done. At last I paid a 15% but it was very unpleasant. I was rid of my choice of paying service and was treated rudely. I wouldn't recommend this place read more

Best Thai in Baltimore right here. We got the drunken noodles with chicken, red curry with tofu and papaya salad. All excellent.

I'm sad to say this, but the other reviews are right. The service is awful. We were charged two dollars more for items on the menu that didn't reflect the price. When we brought it up, the owner did not apologize, instead insinuating that it was OUR fault for not knowing the UNLISTED price. Additionally, we were automatically charged 20% tip without any input. We're very disappointed because we have been coming to this restaurant for half a decade now. After this experience, we will no longer be coming back. Years of business out the window. read more

Came here with my friends in Baltimore as this was their go-to neighborhood Thai restaurant. Not going to lie, the walk was rather sketchy and anxiety inducing as you traipse from the safety of Hopkins to the "ghetto", but Thai Restaurant is fortunately very close. Outside appearance is nothing special and indoor decor is mediocre at best (keep an eye out for sketches of deities and their nipples), but the food was a treat. An older man (presumably the owner of the restaurant) very kindly told us the specials for the night, though we stuck with our typical Thai favorites. I ordered the Tom Yum Gai and requested it to be "Bangkok spicy", which it most definitely was. Unsure whether the shrimp and chicken versions are intentionally cooked differently or if it was inconsistency, but my friends soup was more lemon grassy while mine was mostly all tomato tasting. I split a chicken red curry dish, "just outside of bangkok spicy", with my friend and it was delicious - could definitely taste the coconut and a perfect amount of spice. Thai iced tea also a great compliment to the spicy dishes. Given the location and price range, would say its a hidden gem in Baltimore. read more
