I got the Mee Siam and Spiced Calamari, I forgot the name of the other dish but it's one of the last items on the menu besides drinks, they were all in the drier side. Wished we got some sauce for the Calamari and the other dish. The thai ice tea was authentic and hit the spot. Highly recommend. Overall, a good experience and will be back. Sadly we did not have a great experience here as we hoped to since I was driving out a bit further to try a new place. I met a friend for lunch on a Thursday and as soon as we get there we were left standing in the doorway for 15-20 minutes. There was no one at the desk at the front and although we saw 2 employees there, no one greeted or sat us. If someone just greeted anytime within the 15-20 minutes and let us know the wait it would have been fine but they decided to not make eye contact and run to the kitchen for several minutes multiple times instead. I understand being short staffed but there was not many patrons in the place and lots of tables available. When we were finally sat after we flagged them down, they took forever to come and take our order. They did offer complimentary soup, not sure what kind - it was quite sour with a little spiciness. What I ordered: - Thai Pin chicken wings $9.95 (states that they are marginated with house recipe spices but tasted pretty bland, the sauce helped) - Pad Thai lunch special $10.50 (decent but I have tried many better places in the area) - Mochi Ice Cream $7.50 (standard, I think it's just the frozen kind, we did not end up finishing them even though it did not come with many) - Thai Iced Tea $4.50 (pretty good, similar to most other Thai restaurants) - Thai Mango Sticky Rice $8.95 (I ordered this to go and when I got home it was very good) All and all the prices are decent for lunch and the food is alright but the bad service makes it so I will never go out of my way to come here again. read more

We went to the movies and saw Ticket to Paradise, set in Bali. Of course it was gorgeous and suddenly I had an urge to eat Indonesian food! The closest place with similar food, we decided, would be a Thai place. The reviews were mixed so I didn't have too high hopes and warned hubby. It was early evening and a family was completing their dinner. Otherwise, it was just us and later people were coming in to pick up takeout. So not very busy. The place is small, clean, and attractively furnished. It's located in a strip mall. After studying the menu for quite some time, because there are quite a few choices, we ordered the crispy fried chicken wings (they were quite good, but consisted, essentially, of only two chicken wings with the tips missing, I wished there had been at least full wings or another two pieces. I like the crispy tips of wings. I don't know why restaurants don't serve them! They were complimented with a duck sauce), and the roti bread which came with a little dish that tasted of curry coconut and a small piece of tender beef and a small piece of potato. Hubby ordered a tom yum soup, which he said was good. I tasted it and it was good, but the vegetables needed just a tad more cooking to get the flavor inside them. For the main course, he ordered the beef Pad Thai, which he also enjoyed. I ordered the salted fish with eggplant, which was tasty and full of eggplant, onions, and green peppers in a brown sauce, but it had little in the way of salted fish, except for a few diced pieces. The portion was generous and it was tasty. This dish comes with a small bowl of jasmine rice. I ended up taking half of the dish home. Service was a little meh. The waiter would disappear (he was also taking the phone orders) and he never brought the mixed vegetables I had ordered. I had to remind him I had ordered the plain iced tea. No biggy because we weren't in hurry, but by the end of our meal, we were ready to leave and had to wait for him to return from the kitchen, so we could get the check. Do I recommend this place? Yes. Overall, I think this *could* be hit or miss. Everything we ate was well-seasoned and tasty. We didn't find the food bland as some have complained and we never heard a microwave being use as someone else complained. I like my food well-flavored and I found the food to be so. The portions aren't huge, but adequate and I actually brought half my food home. Dinner for two with the appetizers and one drink (plain iced tea) set us back $65, which in today's economy is pretty much the norm. Maybe we'll come again and try the lunch! Addendum: After eating my leftover Salted Fish with Eggplant (and still have some left for another day), I noticed the flavors blended very nicely overnight. Not only did it taste better, but tasted differently. I thought it's worth reminding people that the ingredients of some dishes really need time to blend and marinade overnight. My friend and I dined here the other day for lunch. Don't make the same mistake. I believe it's the owner that is working the front, the back and the restaurant. It took him a long time to greet us, to seat us, and to take our order. When the food came out (we only ordered appetizers) the duck bai buns (you only get two) contained half the meat that they normally provide and we were looking for the peanut sauce, he told us it was drizzled on it.....barely, to say the least. The curry samosas were tasty, but there were only three and were about the same quality of Traders Joes. Thank goodness my friend and I don't eat a lot. We will not be back to dine. It has gone downhill. We probably don't need to go back because it'll be out of business within a month or two. The paintings on the wall are nice, making the ambiance enjoyable. Food: The entrees tend to be on the spicier side so make sure to read the descriptions and let the server know if you need it milder. Overall, I have not had a bad entree yet. I've tried the Thai Basil Chicken, Chicken Cashew Nut, Masamman Curry, Tom Yum Soup (super spicy). The entree prices have increased about $2 or so on most items, since my last visit. Decor: The decor at Thai Pin is modern and lovely. The colors are warm toned with maroons and browns being the prominent ones. One of our go to places for Thai food! So much so that we had a surprise birthday lunch/dinner for my fiance one year. We don't really stray too far from our usual veggie red curry and my green curry with usually beef but I do mix it up with shrimp or chicken from time to time. I ALWAYS get the summer roll with shrimp. The curries are SPICY and for some it could be too spicy but I don't request any special instructions because I believe that alters the food too much. No wait for table of 4 on a Friday evening. Service was pretty good and food came out rather fast. There's a pretty extensive menu, but I was disappointed with the food and portion size. Specifically the chicken curry entree and roti appetizer were tiny and personally not worth the price IMO, although the roti was delicious. Whenever I cannot decide what I want to eat, I usually opt-in for Thai food and a similar situation occurred when I attended a concert a few weeks ago. The online reviews were decent, but the food looked amazing. I ordered the Pad basil "krapow" which is fried tofu sauteed with fresh basil, garlic, chili, bell pepper and onion in sweet & spicy sauce. It is served with a bowl of jasmine rice. The fried tofu was phenomenal because it was cut in the shape of french fries, which made it easier to munch down. The sauce was more spicy with a hint of sweetness, just the way I like it. The fresh vegetables were crunchy and packed with flavor. Jasmine rice always plays a crucial role with Thai food as it's a longer grain and fluffier. EXCELLENT! After a fun & sunny morning and bombing out at a favorite Italian restaurant for lunch, my noodle craving kicked in. Vince recalled Thai Pin after thinking on it. Yay! We started with THE BEST EVER lettuce wraps for our appetizer. The chicken was ample & very tasty/tender - no chopped up water chestnuts, etc., or a heavy/salty sauce to be found. (Neither of us were thirsty later in the day). And OMG - the peanut sauce that accompanied it - it was thick & so darn good (as you'll see if you view my main entree - I kept the peanut sauce aside for it!) I ordered shrimp lomein - it was absolutely delicious and a bit thinner & fresher than I've ever had; Ive eaten A LOT of lomein in my day too! The shrimp were a nice size & super fresh too. And after I heard they started a lunch buffet, I thought I should give them a try and also it would give me a chance to taste a variety of items, so here I was today for the lunch buffet. Buffet was just about ok! They were hardly refilling the items. Only one chicken and one fish variety. Overall didn't feel it was any where close to be worth $12 per person and even appalling was the fact that they charged $8 per child for the two four year olds we had along with us !! We love the food here - I'm a vegan and there's a bunch of stuff here that tastes great. I've gotten curries and noodle soups and the satay tofu. They have lots of delicious veggies, tofu, and mock duck (seitan). My family gets duck buns, lettuce wraps, char kway teow, spring rolls. the only only only thing is that when we eat in we get so distracted by the dumbest thing. they have 5 pictures on the right hand side - and the pictures are (in order) elephant, 9 buddha heads, big buddha head, 9 buddha heads, big buddha head. I wish they would swap the middle big buddha head with the elephant. that way it'd be visually symmetrical and balanced. But maybe it adds to our meal since we spend some of every dinner there discussing how we could make a sneaky switcheroo while nobody's watching. :P we'll be back many times both in person and for take out :) read more

Thai Pin isn't authentic but it doesn't strive to be so. I don't get the strong Thai flavors here that I've come to expect from other Thai restaurants but that might be the result of Thai Pin's customer base not expecting that either. Of the dishes I sampled, the Roti was ok, but the curry that came with the entree was watery and bland. It lacked the punch you'd want to start a Thai meal. The roti was also a bit thicker than I expected and wasn't the type that was layered, thin and crusty. The Curry Duck on the other hand was good. The dish included a thinly sliced breast of a duck, layered on top of a Penang type curry sauce with chunks of eggplant, tomatoes and pineapples. The duck meat did have a multiple odd slits on the side without the skin, which I assume was due to it being skewered and grilled first, otherwise if was a bit odd to see. Finally the curry had a hint of spicy and went well with the rice. The Vegetation Tofu appetizer on the other hand was terrible. The stuffing, bean sprouts and peanut sauce, may have been fresh, but the tofu itself left a majority opinion that it was extremely dry and inedible. Much of this dish was not eaten as a result of the tofu. Of the remaining items I sampled, the satay beef and curry samosa were ok. read more
