I enjoyed my solo dining experience at Thai Pad. Thai Pad being just steps away from my hotel and a local subway line (Van Ness), I could not resist. After a full day of museum walking and sightseeing, I chose Thai Pad as a treat after a long day. That said, Pad Thai has a fantastic staff, and the authentic vibe of the restaurant was just what I needed after a long day. I enjoyed a small plate of veggies wrapped in an ultra-thin dumpling-like casing. The sauce they served with the veggie wrap was so delicious. I also wanted a tasty Thai dish with Shrimp. I highly recommend Thai Pad Restaurant solo or with the whole family.

Arrived around 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday. There was a menu posted on the outside window. Was greeted upon walking in. Placed a to-go order for two lunches. The lunches were ready in about ten minutes as promised. The Thai fried rice with chicken came with a few ingredients. The lemongrass chicken tasted good with vegetables on the side and a container of jasmine rice.

Great spot! Felt family owned, small cozy spot with amazing food. Highly recommend. Red curry with tofu was some of the best I had and service was quick.

Duck rolls

Quick service and delicious food!!! I got the duck rolls and pad thai with chicken. The duck was very tender.

A great place for a low key, tasty meal! I swung by during the lunch hour on a weekday and the few tables outside filled up fast! They have affordable lunch specials for around $11 that include an appetizer and entree. For the appetizer, you can have either a fried taro spring roll which is perfectly fried, quite tasty, though on the smaller side; or a fresh green salad with a bright peanut dressing. There are several entree options. Both the drunken noodle and pad Thai are great, not too oily, and hit the spot. Service is efficient, friendly, and attentive. No complaints here and I'll be back when I'm next in the neighborhood.

Pad See Eaw

Ate lunch here and ordered the pad see eaw and it tasted great. Sweet and flavorful, it def hit the spot. The beef was tender and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Also ordered a Thai iced tea and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was really quick service (granted it was just me) and I'm glad I tried them out.

Great atmosphere, attentive and respectful service, delicious starters!! Absolutely incredible, will be back! The food came out quickly, tasted wonderful, and left us so full and happy. We also had the mango sticky rice which we didn't get a picture of because we were so excited to eat. I love Thai food and this is the best in the area.

Fantastic! Yummy Healthy Flavorful! We sat outside and enjoyed the Spring air before the sunset. This tiny restaurant has indoor seating too, but it was nice to sit outside. Food came quickly! My husband ordered the Chicken pan nang (curry) . It's very mild but he asked for the spice condiments and it was perfect for him!

We always start with chive cakes (4/5)and pretty much always order some version of the Thai fried rice 5/5. It's definitely elevated Thai food. I've also had their cabbage curry (3.5/5), could use a more flavor, but good idea in theory. Their cocktails and mocktails are divine. To elevate a mocktail instead of just making an expensive juice spritz is much appreciated. I must mention we did go here right after our engagement (which happened to be after a 16 hour flight back from New Zealand). As we waited for our takeout, The bartender was kind enough to offer champagne, but we're on a non drinking kick but she cheered me on as I took a million pictures of my ring. Needless to say birdsong is comfort and special for us all at once. A must try.

I had the ground pork Thai basil bowl and my friend had the khao soi noodles which she really enjoyed. My entree was really good as well - the meat was super flavorful and there was lots of basil. We split the housemade ice cream to finish which was a mango sorbet and a vanilla ice cream. It was pretty solid but not worth $14 in my opinion! I'm not in this area much so there are other Thai places I would return to before this one, but definitely a cute spot for date night or a drink on the patio!

I noticed they had a Thai-style sukiyaki which isn't commonly found in most Thai restaurants I go to. I loved that this dish contained glass noodles, a wide variety of veggies, and a good portion of chicken. However, I didn't love the sukiyaki sauce, which was savory with some acidity. The sukiyaki had great ingredients, but not my ideal flavors. My friend got the Siam House Noodle with extra spice, which i didn't bother trying. He enjoyed it though. Overall, Siam House gives you a huge portion of food -- we both had enough for leftovers, and this is saying a lot for my friend who has a big appetite.

This was my first experience with Malaysian food, and it was a positive one! I ordered via Uber…read moreEats and wanted to try several things, so I got the Roti Canai, Chicken Satay, Char Kway Teow, and Curry Laksa. Roti Canai - Absolutely delicious. The flaky, layered roti was soft and delicate. The curry sauce to dip it in was tangy, a bit spicy, and very flavorful. The Roti was the perfect vehicle for the curry, as it absorbed into the layers of the Roti and didnt just fall off. The curry was pretty thin, so I wasnt sure how well the Roti would pick it up. Chicken Satay - This was the only "okay" item, and is also the only item that I have had before. The chicken was a bit dry and it lacked a bit in flavor, but it came off the skewer easily and was still pretty tender. Nothing wrong with it, just not special. I loved the peanut sauce, though, and I liked that it had the pieces of peanuts in it because it gave a nice texture. It was also a pretty good amount - 4 skewers and the chicken was meaty. Char Kway Teow - Very good, ultimate comfort food. The rice noodles were so chewy (im the best way). They absorbed the sauce really well, which was savory. And they had a sort-of smoky flavor to them, which was unexpected but good. I ordered mine with chicken, which was very tender and flavorful. I would have liked a bit more sauce to enhance the flavor because the rice noodles really absorbed it all, but i also am a sauce girl so thats just personal preference. Very good reheated as leftovers, too. Curry Laksa - Favorite dish. The curry broth is savory, spicy, and slightly oily (not in a bad way). I loved the texture contrast between the softer/chewier egg noodles and the rice noodles. The tofu was spring and really absorbed the curry, so it was very flavorful. Same with the chicken that I got in mine. The bean sprouts added a bit of a crunch, which was nice. I can see this being my go-to for a rainy day or if Im sick. It was almost even better as leftovers because the flavors melted even more. As I got this delivered, I cant speak to the restaurant/customer service experience. I can say that, while it took a while to get my food (just over an hour after ordering, which aligned with the ETA), everything arrived still piping hot. The portions were also generous, and I wound up with about 3 good sized meals from my order. As I haven't had Malaysian food before, I also have no point of reference in comparison to other Malaysian spots and can't speak to how "traditional" the dishes were. What I do know is that I loved the food, and I look forward to going to Satay Club in person sometime. I definitely recommend this to others!

No clue why this place has less than 4 stars!!!…read more This is the only Malaysian restaurant in DC, and they serve such yummy, authentic food. They also have AWESOME lunch deals that you can even redeem on weekends too ($14 for an entrée + soup on the side). The roti canai was so delicious. Must-order appetizer. The flatbread is super flaky, and the curry dipping sauce is SO good. A bit oily and messy when handling and ripping the bread but still awesome. The char kway teow is also a must. Stir-fried wide rice noodles with your choice of protein, bean sprouts, and Chinese broccoli. It kind of reminds me of chow fun, but it's even more savory and just so well made. The laksa (curry noodle soup) was okay. It was a little bland for me, and the noodles soaked up a lot of the broth, so by the end my soup had basically disappeared. And for dessert.... The chendol!!!! This is the only place I've seen selling chendol in the DMV. So yummy. I do wish they used palm sugar instead of brown sugar, and I wish the shaved ice was a little finer, but it still satisfied a craving I've been chasing for a while. I will DEFINITELY be back.

I got the Hot spice level and wish I'd gone down a level to get a better taste of the dish's original sauce. - Mango doghap: Reminded me of mango lassi. Not too sweet and pleasantly tangy. The desserts, though, were maybe my favorite part of the meal. All had the perfect amount of sweetness: - Kazandibi (Turkish milk pudding with a caramelized, slightly burnt bottom layer): Really liked this pudding. - Honey cake: Ugh the honey with the soft cake with the whipped cream = actual heaven. - Dolan cake (Homemade puffed pastry with Walnuts, Buttery cream filling, and a Chocolate drizzle): Also really good! Very different than the other desserts given the crunchiness and butteriness from the puff pastry and walnuts. Service was fast and friendly.
