Absolutely wonderful. The staff is very friendly. Prices are reasonable and the menu offers Thai and Chinese American classics. Delivery is sporadic since they only have one driver but order pickup is easy and fast. Will be returning soon. read more

I eat there far too often. It's just that good. The best drunken noodles in town and phenomenal Tom kah!

We went here with one of our moms last night, highly skeptical of her assessment that this was "very good Thai." With an open mind, we were sat in the busy dining room, ordered, and received only chopsticks after almost half-an-hour of waiting. When the food came, however, almost all of it was absolutely delicious. The papaya salad was very finely shredded and had a super zesty dressing with a bit of a kick to it. The yellow curry was flavorful with a nice consistency, and the spicy basil drunken noodles with tofu were also really good. We all liked the tamarind shrimp, which were crispy and served in an interesting sauce. The only bummer of the night was the summer rolls--boring as hell and a waste of money. Service is about as fast as molasses, but we didn't mind too much since the place was BYOB and had a nice casual ambience that was enjoyable. Overall, solid Thai; we left full and happy, and would be willing to go again. read more

This place was more then amazing! It was so authentic, the atmosphere was really relaxing and peaceful/ Romantic. The restaurant has a nice decor that I fell in love with. And wow the food! All of the dishes we tried were great! The service was phenomenal. I give this place 5 start in every area! read more

Best Thai place that I've tried in Dallas! Our meals have all been fresh, colorful, delicious, and authentic. Besides the food being amazing (we have sampled quite a few entrees and appetizers and nothing has been less than fantastic), the staff is also so friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is very well decorated and is BYOB. We did my birthday here a week or so ago and it really made the event. Everyone contacted me the next day just raving about the food. We were a large group for the place (11 adults plus 1 2 month old), but the staff really went above and beyond to get everything out at one time for both our appetizers and our entrees. The hot towels to clean our hands before dinner were such a great touch, as was the gift of ice cream for my birthday. Definitely check Thai Opal out, it's so worth it! read more

Let me start by saying that my husband and I LOVE Thai food. So much so that we used to have Thai Tuesday's when we lived in Atlanta and would try a new Thai restaurant every week. And then we even went to Thailand for our honeymoon! Having recently moved to Dallas, we are trying to find our favorite Thai restaurant. We ordered several things for takeout from Thai Opal...Tom Kha soup, Massaman chicken, Pad Thai with chicken, and mango sticky rice. Everything was just incredibly bland! So unfortunately we probably won't be back! read more

Hidden Gem that you won't be sorry you came across! The service and food is outstanding and they deliver!!!

Wonderful service, great entree suggestions. The vegetable spring rolls and (maybe peanut sauce?) were so delicious. We had the Mongolian beef and orange chicken with rice for dinner and had the mango sweet/sticky rice for dessert. Calm quiet atmosphere. Great place! read more

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Thailand. She wanted Thai food to celebrate our 1 month annv (I guess that's a thing...) and we found Thai Opal on Yelp. It was fantastic! The food was truly authentic and just like some of the best local places we found in Thailand. The owner is the sweetest woman in the world and will do everything to make your meal complete. They offer most spicy dishes on a 1-5 scale. I would rank the grading pretty fair. We got the Tom Yum at a 3 and green curry at a 4, and there was a noticeable difference between the two. Neither was atomically hot, but both had great heat and flavor profiles. The dishes are balanced and complex enough that both 1 and 5 would probably be fantastic regardless of a diner's preference on the heat spectrum. The thai basil was exactly what I was craving too; spectacular! 4 stars for ambience 5 stars for value 4.5 stars for quality 5 stars for authenticity (esp for TX) Will return, and soon! read more

It's my fault... Follow my previous experience and shouldn't expect something different from doing the same thing. I skipped lunch today so I was hungry at 3:30. I started looking for chicken lettuce wraps on Yelp. I've had them 100 times and never gone wrong. On Yelp I see PF Chag's and Pei-Wei to which I've had (and thet are really good!) but a bit inconvenient and then comes up Thai Opal... How can they screw up lettuce wraps and Tom Yum Chicken soup. Well... Let me give you the lowdown. 1) Service - 5/5 - Very attentive and seated quickly. They restaurant was empty so easy to accommodate a table of 1 at 5:30. 2) Tom Yum Soup - 2/5 - Salty, undercooked vegetables and the "chicken" was like dehydrated jerky. I ate some of the mushrooms and broth but fished out all the "chicken". 3) Chicken lettuce wraps - 0/5 - I have eaten lettuce wraps all over the country. They have always had a nice sauce like Hoisin and/or Oyster and the meat has always been juicy. These were the most chewy, dry and flavorless I've had so I asked for soy sauce. Didn't help. 4) Checking out - 1/5 - I gave 1 star because a server came by and asked if I'd like something else to which I declined. I heard my my original server who took my food away told someone it was dry. I simply asked for my check which did not seem to bother them even though I ate 1/4 of the soup and 2 bites of lettuce wrap. I paid the bill and gave a 12% tip because they didn't cook the food. In my opinion. FIGHT FOR YOUR CUSTOMER and do something. But nope... Just a thank you on the way out. Whatever. In my opinion, it's a nice restaurant but overpriced. Also, from my experience it's hit, miss and miss. For the prices they charge, I should not get leftover chicken from lunch that is not editable, dry and lacking sauce/flavor. Additionally, the almost entirely uneaten meal should have been comped. Note to management: If you can't cook it right, take it off your menu. Oh, and by the way, DON'T SERVE LEFTOVER LUNCH CHICKEN AT DINNER OR ANY OTHER TIME. Just a suggestion. read more

Love this place! Great food, great ambiance, and good value. Best Thai in Dallas. Good wine selection or you can bring your own bottle for a small cork fee. Steamed dumplings are yummy and Shrimp with Lobster sauce is a must. Have tried many of the entrees and noodle dishes and always pleased. Susan the owner is awesome and unless she is visiting Thailand you are guaranteed to see this hardworking beautiful lady. Great to go food also. read more

I've had a few thai places around the DFW area but this ranks at the top! Enjoyed the Red Curry and how authentic it tastes. Was a great lunch size portion with a salad. The orchid on the plate was a great added touch as well. The owners make sure everything is as clean as possible and work hard. Impressed to find a thai restaurant of this caliber here. This place is definitely a "Hidden Jewel" - or should I say "Opal"? Check it out and enjoy! You will be back! read more

Some neighbors invited us to dinner last minute to Thai Opal and lucky us. Yes, it is in the same space as Ginger Thai Express but the new owner did a complete make over on the inside and menu. First night, I had the Pad See Ew with chicken and tofu and it was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. We enjoyed our first experience so much that we actually took a different neighbor the very next night..... Second night, I had Massaman curry with beef and it was Deeeelicious!!!!! Come to found out after the first evening, that the owner was the one taking care of us and was very quick to provide great advice on what to order on the menu. Thrilled to have such a delicious Thai option so close to the neighborhood and for now, BYOB and the Fiesta close buy has a decent selection of wine or beer. read more

We called and made a reservation and the staff thanked us over and over for calling ahead. We were seated immediately and quickly received drink service and complimentary crab rangoons, which were out of this word. It did take a bit for the staff to take our order but when they did the food was out quickly. The Pad Thai, Spicy Basil Beef noodles and the Tom Khi Gai soup were all delicious. All reasonably priced and portions were not huge which we liked. Will go back for sure! Be aware they are obtaining their liquor license and so at this point it's BYOB. read more
